Very poor 🤒
We don't know much about how Dollar General handles customer complaints outside ComplaintsBoard, but what we see here, on our website, is quite disappointing. We think there might be reasons for the company's actions (like not knowing about the complaints), and we would be happy to see them among customer-focused businesses that easily solve customer problems. But until that happens, we ask reviewers to be cautious when dealing with Dollar General and using their services, and to carefully read the experiences of other customers on ComplaintsBoard, because who is warned is armed, you know! 💪

Dollar General hwy 80 phenix city alabama

I went into the store looking for clothes hangers. My son and I searched and could not find. Then we finally saw someone on an aisle playing on his phone. So I ask, "do you work here"? His reply was no, he then laughed and said "yeah, I work here". He directed me towards the clothing hangers, I picked up a few more items and proceeded towards the register. I wasn't sure which one to go to because both were cluttered and nowhere to place my items. I waited atleast 3 minutes before asking the employee to check me out. He then told me I was at the wrong register and needed to get at the right one of I wanted to be checked out. Extremely rude! I liked dollar general and shopped there regularly, until now!

Dollar General stephanie (hwy 51 manager)

Hello,

My name is Kristen Polk and I was offered a job at the new Dollar General in Ridgeland, MS on Hwy 51. The manager who hired me was Stephanie . I initially wanted to work at the County Line store, but was informed that the new store (Hwy 51) had just lost 4 people and was in need of dire help . I then went up to the Hwy 51 store to ask about a potential job at that specific store and Stephanie claimed that my application was Not on file which I knew she was lying . After leaving, I got a call from her about 30 mins later stating that she did see my app and she told me I was hired and sent me my new hire packet . The next day I received my new hire packed but realized the social was incorrect . I called HR and they cancelled the new hire packet and informed me that the manager would have to send a new one . I tried calling Stephanie to tell her this information but she ignored and ignored my calls . I then went up to the store to inform her of what HR said and she told me that she would send a new packet whenever she got the chance . It has been a week and I still have not received a packet . People should really be upfront and not play when it comes to these jobs . If she didn't want to send a new packet again she should have told me . We all have bills and honestly it is not fair . I hope this woman is fired and she really shouldn't be a manager . That's why she is losing so many people . You cannot do people wrong and expect good to come out of it . What goes around comes around .

I worked with Stephanie for 18 months at a different store. She is as good as her word. I'm sure she has been busy and will do as she says when she has time. I would suggest that you go back by the store in person and talk to her. Dollar General works their managers long hours and often with less than needed staff so I know from experience that she has to be busy. My personal experience after working with her on a daily basis is that she will hire you if she feels that you are suitable for the job and if not she will tell you so.

Dollar General the service i'm complaining about is the restrooms

I went to one of your stores and had to use the bathroom because I have a weak bladder and the employee said that the customer's weren't allowed to use the bathroom. Well by that time I already had an accident in my shorts. So I'm going to contact who ever I can, to see what I can do about this situation. Just to let you know that you lost me as a customer, and I'm going to let all my friends know not to shop their.

Dollar General mobile e-coupons

Last date of Incident: 5/11/2018
Store #08668
My #[protected]
Lisa Calhoun
I am not one to complain, however, this problem has happened so frequently that it now has me upset. I shop at DG regularly and enjoy the products! I do choose to do my shopping there specifically at times, based on the e-coupons? that are available and I have saved. I do have the mobile app, and use it frequently. The coupons that I should have been able to use, do not deduct at the time of purchase, however! I have always verified that I had chosen the correct item and number of, etc. I have tried to "save, clip" the $5 off a purchase of $25 or more... SEVERAL times on different occasions and it has never come off my ending total. Many times this has left me to pay more for items than I would have had to spend by going to my traditional grocery store. I have inquired with the store clerks also, they have directed me to call this department to have it resolved. Please help, frustrated!
Thank you in advance.

Dollar General chunky sirloin burger with country vegetables soup

To whom it may concern:

My name is charles thirkield and I am residing in the city of Columbus and the state of georgia... Upon entering one of your dollar general stores #14458 located at 2301 cusetta road Columbus, Georgia 31903 phone #[protected] I had purchased nine cans of Chunky sirloin burger with vegetable soups for the priceof $1. 95 each along with sunbeam bread priced at $2.95, Velveeta cheese priced at $2.75, eckrich cheddar links priced at $2.95, two pints of Breyer rolo ice cream and one pint of Breyer drum stick ice cream three for $5.00 and three boxes of toaster pastry priced at $1.00 each... The cashier had over charged me on the Chunky sirloin burger soup... She had charged me for ten cans of Chunky soups when I had only purchased nine cans of chunky soups... My subtotal should have been $34.20, my tax should have been $1.37, so therefore, my total amount should have been $35.57 but the cashier had over charged me $2.03 on my purchase... Everytime I enter that particular dollar general store the cashier is always playing around like a adolescent instead of doing her job like a trained professional... Then this cashier has got the audacity to talk about her cheating me to other customers in the store... I am extremely tired of this cashier and her childish behavior... I did not know that dollar general franchise hire kids to operate a cash register!

Dollar General rudest manager ever

I was in a store in Ovid, NY I guess the stores number 6429, I asked for it by a nice employee after I heard a Manager name LISA called one of her co-workers a [censored] in front of me and other customers. The employee did nothing wrong as far as i could tell, but this Manager was so rude. I tried to ask her for help and it was like I asked a sloth she was slow and did nothing after but force another employee to help me. This made my trip horrible i was just trying to enjoy my trip visiting my family and I go to a store and hear foul words. The poor employees looked like she would slap them any moment! PLEASE FIRE HER!

I hope others have took time to tell you this, it should be delt with to costumers for satisfaction as well as discipline for on duty management for not performing job on 5/12/18 around 8 30 pm

Dollar General one of the employee and store manager behavior!!

I seen an employee buying drugs off someone in the parking lot after he has clocked out. I told him I knew what he was doing that it was wrong then he showed me the drugs and I said that you shouldn't be doing that in the parking lot. The store manager goes to the bank and stay gone for 2 hours then she comes back and her lover boy/boy friend even though she's married. Has been hanging out with her on her job for couple hours or more. She's hanging out with him in the break room and not getting her jobs completely done.

Dollar General shelves not stocked

Don't know if posting here is a waste of time or not. At #17788 In Rosharon, Texas their shelves are never fully stocked and it's not just once in a while. I have been there 6 times this month all I see is a bunch of empty shelves. This store is only a year old. My question is how does this store think it's going to make money when it's half empty all the time? I just left from there and at least they started stocking shelves. But most of the boxes on the cart were things they had plenty of. I think the manager might need retraining.

Dollar General store closes early several times weekly

Your store at 3985 LA-10, Jackson LA, 70748 states that it is open 8am-10pm daily. This is not true. This has been my 3rd encounter with this location closing early in the past couple months. On this week 5-9-18. The store was closed at 8:50 pm. When I pulled on the door the store employees just looked at me. A couple weeks back they were closed at 9:00pm and on another occasion it was 9:15pm. They need to post their correct business hours instead of having customers wasting their time and gas guessing if they are open.
The whole staff is ghetto as well. They have a boom box on the counter that lights up and they yell all across the store and eat and take calls on their cellphones at the register. The store was really nice when it opened but has since gone to Hades.

Dollar General employees hiding buying items from shipments

I would like to express my frustration on a few General Dollar store I have encountered. My complaint is that managers and assistants managers has been hiding/buying the new Hot Wheels 50th Anniversary black and gold exclusive to dollar stores straight from shipments before it could reach to customers. Today, May 12, I went to the St Paul at Suburban Ave. General Dollar and asked one of the employees, Coleen, if they have received any of them lately. She told me when they see the box from shipment, the manager and assistant manager would open it and buy the ones they want and leave the rest for their "regular customers." Then I asked if they have any more, she took me to the register and underneath it was the box the items came in. As a Hot wheels collector, it angers me to have to buy them online from a 3rd party for 100-200 times the price and giving us collectors a ZERO chance of getting them at retail price. I have worked in retail in small and big corporation and it is against company policy to have employees to buy or hide items while on the clock. I hope who ever read this complaint would understand my and many other hot wheels collectors frustration and take this matter seriously. If not, I'll filed a complaint to the BBB. Thank you for your time and hope to hear from a representative.
