In the summer of 2010 we tried to put together a small group of hunters to go to Alabama Trophy Whitetails. A member of the group was going through cancer treatment and we all thought it would be great to have a hunt in January's rut in Alabama with our friend (who missed all of Fl/GA Deer Season.) The week before our scheduled trip, Pete called to cancel the hunt saying that it had been a bad year and he didn't want us to have a bad experience with his Hunt. He vowed to return the group's deposits quickly and we'd schedule something for next year. Needless to say, the deposits have yet to be sent. Pete Kemmsies has been communicating via the phone and email with dozens of excuses why he continues to be broke. Take my advice and find another outfitter to patronize.

A buddy and I went hunting with pete in South Carolina at South Carolina Hunts. At first we were supposed to go to the outfit in Perry Florida but just a week shy of the hunt he called me and told me that he had corporate hunters going out there so he canceled that trip and asked if we would like to go to S.C and we agreed yes for the same price as F.L which was 500 so as we got there into S.C he was speeding and we were following him and 2 state troopers pulled us both over and let pete go but gave my buddy a 133$ ticket for simply following. pete, didnt even give us a discount for us getting a ticket. As we arrived at the lodge he put us in treestands and the whole time we were sittin that evening he didnt tie his dogs up so the dogs sat and barked and ran around in our hunting area. The next morning we arrived at a new location and not long we heard a gun shot and pete picked us up with a doe in his van that he had shot.. So the whole time we were huntin pete and his cousin were seein deer everyday and didnt bother to take the people who paid to go and kill what we were after . I know that pete is a scam and put us in dank stands that he knew wouldnt put out the deer that we were after. Thanks for our wasting our time and money and no refund for the ticket.. Thanks again Peter Rivera and Adam Mobley.

It appears that Pete Kemmsies has taken the land that was Alabama Trophy Whitetails and is now advertising it as a club (Swamp Creek Hunt Club). My advice beware of anything Pete Kemsies has to do with, the club info can be viewed at http://alabamahuntclubs.com/index.php?page=2&county=65
copy and paste it into your browser.

This review is to inform anyone contemplating doing business with Alabama Trophy Whitetails (Pete Kemmsies) of my experience. In November of 2010 a friend asked me if I wanted to hunt at Alabama Trophy whitetails with him in January of 2011. My friend said he had met Pete at a show in Lakeland, FL and he seemed like a pretty good guy. I said yes and contacted Pete Kemmsies of Alabama Trophy whitetails and sent him a deposit by check for $425. As January rolled around one of our party found some negative reviews on line, we contacted Pete and he said ”You couldn’t satisfy everyone.” We believed him and decided to continue with our hunt. Two days (Jan 12) before we were to leave for Alabama Pete Kemmsies called and canceled the hunt, saying that it had been a bad year and felt as though if we didn’t have a good hunt no one would be happy. At this time Pete stated that he would return our deposits within a week.
To make a long story shorter it is now April 14, 2011 and we have yet to receive our deposit back. Pete has made a multitude of promises and excuses but no results. We have been very patient and even offered a quasi payment plan with no results.
I feel as though I have been lied to and robbed of my hard earned money while trying to be above board by an unscrupulous business person. I would warn anyone thinking of doing business with Alabama Trophy Whitetails or anything Pete Kemmsies has to do with (it appears that he also runs a business called Florida Slam outfitters) to be very careful and learn from our loss. I should have done my home work, there are several negative reviews and I should have heeded their advice. It appears that Pete has closed both of the above mentioned scams and has opened "South Carolina Hunts. My don't do business with anything Pete Kemmsies has to do with.
