How responsive is Dairy Queen's customer service?

Very poor 🤒
We don't know much about how Dairy Queen handles customer complaints outside ComplaintsBoard, but what we see here, on our website, is quite disappointing. We think there might be reasons for the company's actions (like not knowing about the complaints), and we would be happy to see them among customer-focused businesses that easily solve customer problems. But until that happens, we ask reviewers to be cautious when dealing with Dairy Queen and using their services, and to carefully read the experiences of other customers on ComplaintsBoard, because who is warned is armed, you know! 💪

Dairy Queen order forgotten on counter

Ordered two hunger busters and large fries, asked to pull forward to wait on the order, did so, waited more than seven min., nothing . Got out of the car and returned to the window, when it was opened, there were two young ladies chit chatting with my order on the counter behind them, gettiong quite cold. This is the second visit in a row that my order wasn't properly fixed. The last time the buns were not toasted and the whole burger was cold, requiring a period in the microwave at home. the store is only 1/2 mi. from home and that definitely was not a factor!

Dairy Queen public health

Well here goes my rant for the day although I don't generally post it on FB but this is a matter of public health or in my opinion. The kids are hungry so I decided to go get them something to eat. JD has to be the odd ball and want Dairy Queen. I ordered his meal through the drive thru and I'm the third car in line. I just happen to look up at the drive thru window and a customer is handing a puppy to a Dairy Queen employee thru the window while serving food. Not just one employee but two different employees who take the pup inside the restaurant then hand it back to the customer twice 😳 I'm by no means a dog hater...I love dogs but not being passed around thru a drive thru window around food being served to the public. And no the employee didn't wash his hands because I seen him hand out food after handing out a pup! Needless to say I pulled out of line and left!

Dairy Queen tokens being removed from bags

When you receive the Child's Order on the Menu, Employees are pulling the Tokens on the bags. They think if you order a Treat, they should remove the token. I have talked with your representatives at least twice. I have been advised they are not to remove Tokens on bags. The employees will argue with you. Please advise Management and employees to stop pulling the Tokens from bags. I wonder what they do with all the tokens they are removing from customers orders.
Please advise me of your decision.
Thank you.

Dairy Queen quality of food

Ordered hamburger & fries at store in Grandview, Mo. Hamburger was room temp. at best. Fries may have been called warm. Floor behind counter was a mess along with area around drink area. Dirty bucket was under ice cream machine I guess as a catch bucket. Counted 5 employees standing around. Never going back. Did not have time to put in new order. Not sure I wanted to anyway.

Dairy Queen they overcharged me. they wanted to get double sum for the tax

I went to Dairy Queen Crete NE with my kids. We have ordered chicken soup and two hamburgers. The food was ok, but the amount wasn’t ok at all. They overcharged me for $5 and asked the waitress why they took different sum from me. The waitress told me that it was tax, but it has been already mentioned in the bill. It seemed that they wanted to charge me twice for the tax. Strange and I wasn’t happy that they tried to mislead people like this.

Dairy Queen temperature inside location

Our family has been going to the Dairy Queen location Jamacha. In El Cajon, California for years. Although the owner and small staff are polite and helpful, it's Always HOT inside this location. The door is always open and feels like no air conditioning is on never. Especially with this recent heat wave we've had here it's upsetting that we want to have ice cream but can not deal with the lack of air conditioning at our Dariy Queen. Therefore we've gone to a different ice cream place. Is there anything Dairy Queen corporation can do with this location and the air conditioning issue.
Please help :(

Dairy Queen poor service

We arrived at this location right at 4 PM today 8/2/15. There was no particular delay in taking our order, which we paid for in cash. Two medium blizzards--1 chocolate extreme for my husband and 1 turtle pecan cluster for me. About 20 minutes later, my husband's blizzard was delivered to our table with really soft ice cream, as in melted. Ten minutes later I went to check on mine and learned that it had not yet been made. I stood and waited for it for about 5 more minutes while the employee at the counter apologized because she had just come on duty and didn't know I was waiting for anything...blah blah blah ad nauseum. On top of everything else the ticket is time-stamped 4:45. The gm is identified as Anne Careno. This place has become a joke.

Dairy Queen impolite and poor service

Its almost 90 degrees outside on the drive thru. My mom is craving for a blizzard. As i ordered on the speaker the one taking the order keep repeating the wrong item. I've been almost shouting yelling there but still they cant hear me. They told me to drive to the next window. I gave my order again. But as i turn around to wait for my order i can hear them laughing and talking about me. He is so impolite and so very unrespectful.

Dairy Queen poor food service

We took our twin granddaughters to eat at DQ in Oxford, al. I ordered a mega dog with onions. Also asked for the cotton candy blizzard, in which they told me they did not have and was not getting. (Very disappointing since that is the big advertisement around here and you can't even get it.)When it was brought to table it was cold. The chili was cold and cheese wasn't even melted. Also had so much onion on it I could not eat it. All the workers was worried about is my granddaughter and if they were twins or not. Very poor service.

My wife and I stopped in Giddings Tx. for a quick bite on our return trip from Austin. The building was modern, but dingy, dirty windows, peper towel dispenser off the wall and sitting on the sink in the mens room. I had a hamburger and to be fair, I'd rate it as "all right". My wife had cheese nachos and chicken nuggets, neither of which she could eat. Will definitely not be stopping there again!

Ordered a banana split through drive through...
...perhaps a bad idea on MY part, but I was not advised against it.
AS she is handing me the container, she tells me "Becareful, its leaking" ...
yep.. its leaking HARD, all over my car door, all over my pants.
She KNEW this was happening BEFORE she handed it to me. I asked her for a bag, and she just left.

I eat at store nuber #4264 this store is located in Pulaski Va. at exit 101, off of interstate 81. The place was dirty and the staff hide in the back laughing and goofing off while people was lined up to order. I ordered a chicken basket and the gravey was just warmed milk. My wifes cheeseburger was burt. This is the worst place I have eat in for a really long time.

When I was at Dairy Queen the other day I asked an employee how much money would be donated to the Children's Miracle Network if I purchased a blizzard. They did not have an answer for me. Also, the Dairy Queen did not have any signs promoting the sale for the children like I have seen before. I do not think that the money is going to the kids.

They had concern about my granddaughter even after I left. When one of the twins cried because she could not get the cotton candy blizzard I told her to stop. She did not stop so I slapped her across the face and told her to wait outside. I told her I was fed up with her and that I hope someone kidnaps her and rapes her. Yeah she made me that angry. They were so concerned that they went behind my back, took down my license plate number and called the police on me lying and saying that I mistreated and abused my granddaughters. First of all this is a lie, and second even it it were true, it was only one granddaughter not granddaughters.

Dairy Queen on University Pkwy Pensacola FL. Tried this location several times hoping they would get better but never did. They do not know how to package food items (ice cream) to go. Never willing to gove a sack to carry the items in. The last time I went the Blizzards were as runny as milk. Mad a comment to the server and they just shrugged it off. This location is a disgace to the Dairy Queen name.

Poorest service around! Went here with my children to get a dipped ice cream cone. The chocolate was too hot and it did not take to one of the cones. I asked them to remake the cone. The person behind the counter, in response to a simple request and complaint tried to manhandle the other ice cream away from my children & force me to take a refund. When I refused these two people claimed to be the manager & kick us out. At this point I became angry and did say unpleasant things back to them in response to their treatment. They could have simply corrected the problem rather than disrespecting us as customers. A simple request turned into a screaming match over an ice cream cone.

Dairy Queen safety

While the inside of this store is clean and the workers friendly and easy to work with, I found the parking, and Restrooms inadequate and deplorable. The restrooms are handicap and child unfriendly as well as not locking properly. They are very dangerous! They are situated on the exit lane, outside of the business, and on a blind curve at that. They have no handicap railings and have heater wires and heater slats showing so that any small child might get a hold of them. The parking area is extremely small and when several SUV'S are in the lot it is like an obstacle course trying to get through safely. Will I go back or recommend it to any one not as long as these situation exist.

Dairy Queen dilly bar

I went through the drive through at Dairy Queen and asked for a Dilly Bar at least 3 times and whenever I got to the window to pick up my food and they forgot to give me the Dilly Bar. Also the week before that I had asked for a kids hamburger meal for my youngest daughter. When I get to the window whenever I am far down the street my daughter notices that they put only ketchup, ranch, pickles, and mayo. We were both very mad please try to do better next time Dairy Queen. :(

Well you should have checked your order first, people tend to make mistake. While I understand you are angry at them for messing up your order they did not force you to abuse your daughter. Stop making excuses, You slapped her out on your own free will, grow up and stop blaming the restaurant, kudos on the neighbor for being caring enough to report an abusive situation, most people would ignore it and the abuse goes on for years, hopefully this will teach you to think before you strike your child in anger, Spanking a child is one thing if they misbehave but slapping a child across the face in anger is another.

The worst part is my daughter wanted me to drive back to the restaurant and get her another meal. I told her no, she started crying and I slapped her across the face, unfortunately a neighbor saw me slap my daughter and called CPS and they told me that they can take my daughter from me if I treat her like this. I would not have hit her but I was still angry at Dairy Queen. Now my daughter and I are not only angry at Dairy Queen but my busy no good neighbor as well.

Dairy Queen improper handling of food and lack of personal protective equipment and hygiene

A couple of Sundays ago I took my wife out for ice cream. The person who handled my cash also made our desserts. While doing so I noticed her trying to retrieve one of her hairs that had fallen into our ice cream. Instead of making a scene I decided to write the corporation. No one from our local store has responded in anyway shape or form of an apology or compensation. I'd like the FDA to do a thorough inspection of this establishment. No hairnets, no gloves, and lack of cleanliness is apparent at this location.

Dairy Queen employee treatment; poor management

On September 22, 2014, my teenage daughter was fired from Dairy Queen after working there for 3 months for not paying for 1 pack of honey mustard valued at 54 cents. She came to Dairy Queen with no work experience, as this was her first job ever. The General Manager labeled her as a thief and called her dishonest. My daughter is a senior in high school and is in the work program, so this job equaled a grade for her. I personally spoke to the General Manager because I didn't believe that my daughter was being fired for such a petty reason; I believed that there was more to the story, but there wasn't. My daughter is fine in that she regained employment within 1 week, it's appalling that Dairy Queen doesn't value their employees.

Its not the 54 cents she was fired over, it's the principle. She is a thief and needs to be taught that stealing is a crime, period. 1 cent. 1dollar, $1, 000 dollars, any amount is stealing if you take something without paying for it. The mom should be there apologizing and praying they don't take her to court for larceny and embarrassed for her, not defending her. Defending her for stealing? Its only 54 cents... ok so then where do you draw the line next time? $1.00? $10, 000? Its all relative huh?

Your taking this way too personal. My comments are in favor of the way this mother got involved to find out just what took place with her young daughter and her young daughters place of employment for the work program. In my book there is nothing wrong with the way this mother handled her concerns. Being a supervisor and being supervised my self I continue to disagree with the way Dairy Queens manager handled this young girl. Especially labeling her a thief over .54 cents really?

WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU? For all you know, she took the item, was asked about it, Lied to try and cover it up, was confronted with the proof and then was fired...

AGAIN, you are just using your VAST KNOWLEDGE OF THE WORLD to tell this girl that it is OK to take things that are not hers and reinforcing the mothers mistake of getting involved.

AND... You did not respond to the one thing that I posed to you... SHE NEVER SAID ANYTHING ABOUT THE SUPERVISOR QUESTIONING HER IN FRONT OF OTHERS, So why would you say that?

Being fired over .54 cents tells a tail about that supervisor (power trip). A good supervisor doesn't label young employees a thief over .54 cents. Supervisor needs more training before he should be allowed to supervise others. Again good mama for showing your daughter your concerns by going and speaking to that manager. Wonderful that your daughter found work to complete her work program.

Good mama for going to the manager. I have been at McDonalds in Ontario and have seen first hand a supervisor belittling the employee's right in front of the customers. Which made it a very uncomfortable situation not only for the employee but for me the customer. Some supervisors are on power trips and should not be supervising others until they can learn that good supervisors encourage, teach and promote team work. Happy to hear your daughter found work right away. I'm sure if the supervisor would have spoken to your daughter in private with respect your daughter would have gladly paid for the .54 cents. You go mom!

I know its a small item BUT it is still theft... Maybe instead of going to the general manager to complain you should explain to your daughter that it was wrong...

Dairy Queen harrassment by general manager

The dairy queen in Humboldt Iowa has a major problem with harassment and favoritism against workers. If the general manager doesn't like you she will cut your hours down to nothing. Brie who is the general manager did this to me several weeks ago. I worked there way before she started as gm and when I came back from California she was our new gm. For some reason that I'm unaware of she started cutting my hours down eventually I ended up not being scheduled at all. So basically I was fired because she didn't like me, a few days later I was told by an employee that overheard Berea(general manager) telling another employee by the name of Denise(shift manager) that after she got rid of me she only had a couple more employees to do this to. Berea has cut one employees hours down from 36 to 26 which she says is because hours got reduced kind of funny none of the other shift managers got a decrease in hours. Berea straight up told this person that she thinks she the one stealing money from the register. Berea makes working horrible she nit picks on you if she don't like you I'm hoping something can be done about this before beer ruins a lot of innocent people life

Sounds familiar! Just happened to my daughter here in Coatesville PA. I have been trying to personally talk to the manager because my daughter is a teenager and one of her first jobs in the working world. And she ignored my emails. And now has blocked my phone number to the store. I never even tried to call I asked in email for her to call me at her convenience. So she blocked my number when I finally tried to call. Sounds a bit like bullying to me. Figuring out how to contact corporate. These people think they are untouchable.

Dairy Queen menu and service

Not everyone can have bacon in your 5.00 Meal choices. Why did you get rid of the burger with the lettuce, onion, tomato and cheese. If I wanted a bacon cheeseburger I could get that McDonalds. The sour puss running the register offered me a chicken wrap meal instead. We left. We went two blocks down and went to Culvers. A little bit more expensive but worth it. We usually have lunch at Dairy Queen 4 or 5 times a week because it is close to where we work but not anymore. We will continue to take our Business to Culvers. Clerk did not even crack a smile. 9-29-14 at 11:58 at he Dairy Queen in Sioux Falls, SD, 2100 S. Minnesota Ave, 57105

They probably didn't smile because you gave them attitude for the menu change that they had NO control over...
I am sure the change was because corporate wants to try and keep up with McDonald's...
You know, the BIGEST WORLD FAST FOOD COMPANY according to QSR... Not Culver's which is not even in the top 50...
Currently DQ is number 16 so they want to keep an eye on what they are doing to make it closer to the top...
Even if it means loosing someone that lies about going to them "We usually have lunch at Dairy Queen 4 or 5 times a week"...

Dairy Queen Customer Service

I stopped in to pick up birth cake for my son on 5/31/2014. I approached a counter and told cashier I wanted birthday cake and she looked at me with nasty look on her face and she yelled out "WHAT!" I didn't know how to respond to something like that. I went over to the freezer where they kept the Ice Cream Cake and told her exact same thing with cake on the counter and said to her "did you hear me that time?" She just stood there and rolled hers eyes and had an attitude. I felt as if I wasn't welcome to purchase from that store. I gave her piece of my mind after purchasing the item and walked out of the store. As I stepped outside the store I was approached by some old Caucasian woman who claimed she was the owner. Her first response was "What is your problem!" She said this really loud. I explain to her that her cashier had an attitude and that's not the proper way to treat customer. She was defending her employee by saying she did not hear what I said and that her employee did not do anything wrong. She than proceed to say that she did not want me in her store anymore and she will call the police if I don't leave. Well I was already in the parking lot on my way to my car to leave. I wasn't planning to come to that store anytime soon to spend my hard earned money. I'm an Asian-American male who just wanted service when I walked into that store to purchase a cake for my son's birthday that day and I walked out of that store with worst customer service I'd ever received.
You can make your own judgements on the characters of the owner and it's employees. My opinion? I think the owner is a "BIGOT". I will never patronize that store ever again. Dairy Queen on 20511 Bothell Everett HWY SE, Bothell, WA, Phone #[protected].

Okay, let's back up...
Maybe I was a bit harsh on calling her a bigot, but I was offended when owner of the business came up to my face and without any hesitation assumed I was at wrong. I never dealt with anything like this. Look I'm a small business owner myself and I have 20+ employees. I can tell you that I would not have reacted to anyone like that, I mean no one. I had to assume she reacted like that because of my race. There was no other reason that I can think of for her reaction. My mistake was when I first approached the counter to the cashier, when she yelled out "WHAT" as if I was bothering her...I should have just walked out. But as I was saying it was my son's birthday and he wanted DQ Ice Cream cake.
I don't want to guess what your race is, if you can't understand where I'm coming from? I'm sorry you feel that way. This is free country and I'm just voicing my freedom of speech. If I'm wrong about the owner being a bigot? Well than I guess we don't have anything to worry about. I just don't want my kid or anyone else to experience what I'd experienced. There, I have said my peace and moving on.

If I had offended anyone reading this blog, please accept my most sincere apology. I just wanted to get my point across.
Point being that it was one of the worst customer service I'd ever received. I'd been to some horrible places in my life.

Update by Paczone
Jun 01, 2014 10:47 pm EDT

I'm probably dealing with other bigots on this blog...
Any comments I make you'll only accept it in your own view and prejudice.
I'm probably outnumbered by wide margin.
Is there any other bloggers out there besides these two bigots?
I'm not mad at the world, I just want some decent customer service when I walk in the store.

I have been an employee with DQ on and off for over 10 years now. To the person that was tired of customers complaining shouldn't be in the fast food business. My manager is wonderful, and these people need to remember that the customer is ALWAYS right. If something is amiss then u fix it and make it right. It is only bad business practice and people will not come to that store anymore. I mean I have seen the worst of the wosrt of angry customers and it is not pretty, u just gotta bite ur tougne and make them satisfied. The cutomers PAY YOUR WAGES! What I can't stand is the younger teenage workers, that don't want to do ###, but stand around and talk to each other, or have their friends come in and stand talking to them for 2 hrs at the counter, ignoring customers. That just ignore u when u tell they to get back to work. That is my pet peeve, I mean ### find something to do, CLEAN, AND MAKE DILLY BARS (yes, we make our own dilly bars), do something. I am getting paid to work and doing my work and yours but your still getting paid a damn paycheck, I don't think so...If you aren't going to a place to actually work then push on, and get another job where you can sit around and not do ### and get paid for it!

If your complaint was JUST about the customer service then I would have accepted it BUT you made it a point to mention your race and the race of the owner.
Now that others had made comments about you saying these things, you are also calling us "Bigots".
Just out of curiosity... What is my race?

Good luck guessing

You said that you are a Asian-American and that she was a old Caucasian woman... You made this part of the complaint and say that she is a BIGOT... Sounds like you are the one with the problem... If the girl did not understand you and said WHAT. Then all you needed to do was repeat what you said. Maybe she just didn't hear you or maybe you speak with some kind of accent? There was no reason for you to walk over to the case, repeat yourself, pull out the cake, put it on the counter and then say "Did you hear me that time" like a little kid trying to get his way.
Even in this complaint, you com across like someone is mad at the world.

Dairy Queen manager

I used to work at this Dairy Queen. I went to go see my sister when she had her baby, and before I could find anybody to work for me the manager called me cussing at me and screaming at me over the phone. This was a few hours before I was supposed to work. I found somebody to work for me and she said she would go in, but the same manager that called me told her that she couldn't because she lived 30 minutes away. What else can I do to complain and to make sure that my complaint goes through?

Dairy Queen intentional bad service

Drove thru drive thru and ordered two foot long hot dogs with very little sauce, made it clear to employ I only wanted a small amount of sauce and she repeated that back . Later down the road I found the two foot longs were smothered in sauce . That is uncalled for !
I will not stop at that DQ ever again . That was an intentional smart ### way to treat the customer .
