Craigslist review: deleted postings without notification 43

This review was chosen algorithmically as the most valued customer feedback.

Craigslist has deleted nine of my consecutive postings under their services section even though I provide a legitimate financial service.

No notification or reason for deletion was ever provided. Craigslist did not respond to a single of my six emails on this matter.

My postings are deleted almost within the hour of being activated. I provide a legitimate financial service and nothing I do can be construed as abusive/ unethical/ etc.

Yup! Has been happening to me for the last 3 weeks.. Mines are down within 15 minutes.. CL help desk is a joke.. They state that they have resolved it but they have not.. Another Realtor that I know has also been experiencing the same.

Frustrating

Same problem craigslist is flagging all my ads with in 30 minutes of posting. They will get what they deserve! And Screw off any losers with your retarded answers, more then likely they work for craigslist or have no clue in life about anything.

Stay as far as you can from the site they ought to be ashamed. They have sent many emails to individual sellers the emails are a bunch of disgustingly embarrassing emails. From them, or dealers, I call it hacking in to people's emails without reason. Beware after all Craigslist needs to be shut down anyway. :-)

I use to put adds in Craigslist when they were free, I did got calls, now I am paying for adds and my adds never move to the top, zero calls, why wasting my money?
They need to keep the same MO that they use specially now that we are paying for. Now the post are buried on a pile of adds .

I placed an ad because I am looking to adopt a yorkie. my ad was taken down for no reason - I certainly did not violate any terms. if craiglist is just going to remove these ads do not offer pets as a category. it is very frustrating and a waste of time.

This is for those who say Craigslist isn't at fault for deleting our listings. I feel that Craigslist does delete the listings even though they do not violate their rules. My listing are carefully posted to avoid breaking any rules. Then they are instantly flagged even before they get posted to the public. I have caught them doing it and follow up by re-posting the listing only to have it flagged instantly with out any notification of what the violating is. And of course there are bad seller and buyers who also flag listing because they are selling the same product for a higher price or just having their fun doing it. But the instant flagging is impossible for the public to be doing because it happens to fast and even before the public can even see it. But when they get bogged down in listing the hold your listing for 30 or so minutes until they can review it then flag it.. Of course Craigslist will not let you know what they did because of a possible law-suite against them. So they leave it open to any one could have done it kind of statement that they have in print..Of course no one can prove anything because of the "Craigslist" rules. They should have to answer to the courts and should be force to re-write their rules that all flagging must be justified prior to being flagged and the seller should always be informed when it is flagged and exactly why it was flagged prior to actually being flagged! I would be 1st in line for a "Class Action" against Craigslist for the improper rules that allows this to happen by there org. and anyone else who does this in an unjustified manner. F- for Craigslist at this point. If they are going to run this system they should stay honest to their own rules.

I am with you, if you are still steamed. Just found this resource, after over a year of arbitrary, abusive flagging. The DCL forums are a hotbed of trolls, offering no help, and actually threatening to, and actually flagging posts of people discussing topics on the forum. It almost feels a Russian troll farm took the site over. My website has my contact info...skellerlegalservices@wordpress.com. Thanks, Steve

On none of your sites i have found do they offer a place to post items for sale only to search items already listed. I have posted on craigslist before but now am unable to because of your changes.

I have been able to finally find a forum that supposedly was to be read by C/L staff. Never received an answer or response. I get flagged 95% of the time I post. My suggestion was when people get flagged they should receive the e-mail address of the flagger. I do believe in America you should be able to face your accuser. So here is the real rub. I post both poetry and prose and little stories relating mostly to the "Gay Life Style" so Amongst the smut and perversions, the gaped ### of over fed people and displayed drug users, pedo's and hustlers that aren't flagged I am the one who is not to be seen or heard of?

CRAIGSLIST continues to delete my accounts with NO option of knowing WHY or any email responses?
Their customer NO SERVICE is the WORST ever experienced! They will NEVER respond to any questions or service requests.
If they can push a keyboard button to delete an ad, you'd think they could also push a button as to WHY?

I keep getting e-mails from craigslist telling me my account needs maintenance and to log in to my account. When I enter my e-mail address, it says I have no account. When I e-mail them about the problem, I get a long list of problems but no answer to my complaint.

I had hundreds of active ads, very few flags for five years. Just today i got five or six flags in a row all different categories all perfect compliant ads. I started deleting my ads to save them for future re-posting, (flagged and removed ads cant be re-posted). Maybe my activity looked odd to 'program' master software, because they then put my account on HOLD with no caution. Come to find out on hold may mean you can never get in your account a view your five years of thousands of ads ever again. OMG I loved cl right up till today. I had no idea they would just keep your stuff like that! Okay, stop me from ever posting again for no apparent reason without telling me why is bad enough. but then to keep our stuff. law suit for sure. help! [protected]

I just posted an ad and it was "flagged or deleted" before it even posted. I got the page where I agreed to the tou and clicked agree and honestly went straight from that page and went to my account page and it was already deleted. There is no way there was enough time in the few seconds it took to click to the other page? Hell I didn't even get the confirmation email stating it would be posted in 15 minutes until after I seen it was already deleted? So I posted it again and the same damn thing happened! You can't say that is not CL at its best. I am so frustrated right now. Ive emailed them so many times asking if they ever thought of making a page for people that pay a monthly fee or per ad so that this junk wont happen. If they got paid for posts then they could hire some staff that gave a damn and just look over the ad before it is posted and do away with "flagging" all the way around.

Traitors are what the are. Their flagging system allows people to violate each others rights. A lot of the same rights that exist in the Constitution are exercised when using craigslist; and even if constitutional rights weren't an issue, why aren't they doing anything about people who keep each other from using their service? It's like they don't even care about their revenue, or something.

This happens all the time on CL. It's not the service, it's the "community." If you go to the flagging help forum and read the posts, you will see why. The people posting there are like a bunch of little Eric Cartmans.

And CL will do absolutely nothing about it. They respond to no one but the cops, who, of course, scare them out of their pants.

I am on craigslist under dating/romance. First of all, I just went to edit my profile, and add more pics, and it deleted me. I used 3 different email addresses. I get more responses on craigslist than any other sites, have found alot of good guys. I'm getting frustrated, because you can't get ahold of anyone. How do people sell stuff on here if you get deleted everytime? I believe in safety, but this is flippin ridiculous.

Final list of johnjustice recommended craigslist "alternatives":

a) ebay classifieds
b) backpage.com
c) pennysaverusa.com (very good)
d) www.olx.com

I eliminated google checkout because it requires registration. I also eliminated oodle because of their discrimination of non facebook users and recycler because they charge for online only ads.

All four alternatives above make it easy and fast to post an ad online. I will wait and see if I get any responses to see about their effectiveness.

I posted my Mac computer on Craig's list yesterday and within 1/2 hr I was notified it was "Flagged and Deleted" with NO reason! I'm selling it with lots of CS3 Adobe software and it's a pretty new computer, so maybe I was underselling the competetion? I have no idea WHY my add was flagged and am very frustrated!

Please join a user generated call for a Class Action Suit against Craigslist here:

http://www.sueeasy.com/class_action_detail.php?case_id=276

Craigslist clearly allows abuse of the flagging system: they cornered the ad market (monopoly), does not allow paid ads that would make possible to replace arbitrary/abusive flagging practices with staff monitoring content, does not provide adequate feedback regarding how to avoid being flagged down (professional flaggers have taken over), thus it is seriously limiting and controlling the free market with negative effects. It has become impossible to run simple, tasteful (computer and other) service ads, Craigslist deprives users of making a living through stifling, censoring and limiting the advertising market.

Cl really needs to be sued for the physical aggravation they cause. The employees have a system now to which they send automated responses to any requests you have. I even threatened them with violence and got an auto response. The laziest company I have ever seen. I have 4 accounts that have been on "hold" for months ! There is a NEW SITE CALLED UNCLE HENRY in New England that is really catching on

Those emails from "Ebay" are fake. Ebay does not use moneygram. Craigslist is an entirely different place entirely. When you visit Craigslist, it warns you of this very type of scam. I'm sorry this happened to you, but you should always be very careful and do your research.

its a popularity contest there and a monopoly driven site if you provide a better service at a better rate you get the boot and they just say go to the CL help area and they have a bunch of bullies there that are of no help at all and if you speak your mind your post get removed by CL staff because the CL staff dont want new people reading what CL is really about

They do that a lot. I posted a scooter for sale three times and the deleted each time. i only posted so many times cause they kept deleting. Am I selling too affordably and the other posters are flagging me? Craigslist is a load of crap. They delete for no apparent reason and without pre or post notification.

I totally agree with you. There is definitely harrastment issues towards people posting ads on craiglist. For example, I had also posted jewelries to be sold on Craiglist and my ads was flagged without reasons. I had also emailed my concerns to abuse@craigslist.org with no response from them. I believe this is intentional and must address this issue to the owners of this site. Craigslist like ebay had becoming global commerce without some sort of control or monitoring of the kinds of abuse conducted by their customer services representatives which lead to persecution of people trying to make their livings on them in a ever shrinking global economy. This abuse issue must be addressed to the owners of these companies or to the government for an antitrust violation. If you like to reach me for a group class action law suit against them. Please contact me at komododragon89@yahoo.com

Craigslist didn't flag your ad, a competitor or someone who personally took it upon themselves to uphold Craigslist guidelines did.

One way to combat this is to have one of your employees monitor the section you advertise in, so they can 'top post' your ad as well as repost flagged ads.

Consider being flagged on Craigslist as 'Par for the course', it comes with the territory. :-)

This is the same kind of BS answer that CL employees give. And an equally annoying 'suggestion' that does not help. "What the community will tolerate" is another example of a BS answer that is equivalent to - "whatever we feel like" which is no policy at all.

Your answer is a total BS. My posts are deleted minutes after I publish them. Between Sept 26 and Oct 15 CL removed my 5 posts 322 times, forced to to rest my password probably 50 or 60 times and blocked access to my account for days. They run the pages in loops between demanding phone verification and then login page, rest password and phone verification again. 3 of my posts are in computer category and 2 bicycle parts - no offensive language or prohibited items. The same posts were deleted within hours when my friends posted them online.
I wrote several email to CL and have never received any response from them and neither they fix the problem. CL does not have existing customer service and because of that CL service is just a joke.
