Zip Web scam

Zip Web or Web Zip is a total scam and they do not offer a legitimate service. There sole purpose is to scam people out of $50 a month. If this has happened to you, you will not be getting this money back and you local telephone company (Frontier Communications) will be of no assistance. I think it is fair to say that Frontier communications is probably involved in the scam. Unfortunately I have no choice but to deal with Frontier as they are the only local telephone service available in my area.
Zipwebs practices have been well documented with the proper authorities but there scam continues.
Typically people will only give so much energy into chasing $50 and this is what Zipweb counts on.
Personnaly I do not have the time or energy to continue trying to get my money from them.
I can only hope that the owner will get whats coming to him.

Zip Web Unauthorized charges

Company offered fraudulent free ZipWeb-Pay-Per-Click free for 1 month. Before the month was up, evident Nothing was happening, I called their 800 number 800... and was assured service was discontinued and there was no charge. Through my phone company, Verizon, I've been billed a total of $644.19 for nothing!

Verizon claims the law requires that they accept this type of 3rd party billing with no obligation to insure the credibility of the company or the services. After 10 phone calls and getting the run around from eBusinesssvc Isp Mofee (866-60...), Pay One Billing [protected]) and Zip Web, I'm told I must deal only with Verizon. Verizon, of course tells me to deal with Zip Web.

I'd like to add that the phone conversations with the Verizon people, though frustrating, were pleasant. However, the company's involved in this 'scam' were rude and nasty.

Internet fraud. Illegal billing fostered by governmental laws requiring my phone company to accept 3rd party billing for which they know nothing about. The law enabled my phone company to bill me for a scam company - EBS On Line..

I've been contacted by Zip Web and offered a free month of featuring me on the web. I have tried to call and cancel this service, but haven't been able to reach anyone. From the other complaints about this company, I see that it is a scam. Do not give them your information.

30 day free trial turned into $99.97 a month nightmare of automatic payment on billing of Verizon invoice.

Zip Web Host contacted me via phone. They promised to contact me at least every week or so to see how I liked the service and before they billed me at the end of a 'free' 30-day trail. I did get three different calls asking if I received an email with a link to the site. Each time I told the caller no I had not gotten the emails and was assured that they would send it again.

When I went to the website I could not even find one ad for my business anywhere by zipweb. But I did find two businesses in my direct area - both which have been out of business for over a year.

No call was received before the end of the 30-day period. The first letter I received from the company came March 31, 2009. That day I called and cancelled - no problem the operator was nice and gave be no hassle over the cancellation. But she did neglect to tell me the 30-day period ended March 24, 2009. My April Embarq Phone Bill was charged $99.95 for the 7 days.

This company had no intention of fulfilling anything. They're counting on you to be to busy to remember and try to get a few months charges over on you. If I had called and cancelled when I received their letter I would have had two months billed to me before I got my phone bill.

I will be contacted my states attorney general and better business bureau over this fraud.

As posted on the other thread I have asked that it was removed because we resolved this complaint.

Why must you keep posting?

This BS recording you want to point out and say is my wife:

How do you spell your name? "Uhhhhhhhhhhhh"

What line of work you in? "Uhhhhh carpet cleaning I think"

Whats your title? "Uhhhhhhh VP"

When you speak about the 12 calls you made here and the caller asked to speak with "Beverly" why did they never just ask me? After all I am the owner and the person who's name is on the bill you were charging.

When you called me Friday and asked "Is there anything we can do to get you to remove your complaint?" I asked you for nothing and said I would email them and I did.

I have also let the BBB know that you have taken care of what you charged to my account. On Tuesday I will also let the States Attorney know you took care of this problem.

You say it's all about company image yet you keep posting dragging more and more in to the internet.

I am not the one charging people for stuff they did not authorize, I am not the one hiding a company under tons of different names to pull the same crap on people, I am not the one that has complaints listed about me all over the internet, I am not the one with a "F" rating at the BBB, I am not the one that has attorneys building a class action case against my company.

You can sugar coat it all you want but when you allow one person to authorize charges to another person you cant say you think what your doing is ethical.

Why don't you allow the board time to remove the complaint before you continue to make your company look bad on here?

Why do you keep posting on this thread about it when this thread is not mine and this is not the one they are going to remove?

And just for the record on the other thread where you made your comments about google. I couldn't care less. We are not in business yet at that location and when we are I will be at the top of google again just like we are in the other states, cities & counties we serve. We are at the top of the locals in every local listing without paying one dime to a company like yours.

Mr. Burrell, your credit was issued, exactly as promised. It has already been submitted to your telephone company. As we have no knowledge of, or ability to influence, your billing cycle with your telephone company, we of course cannot tell you exactly when you will see your refund. Normally, it shows on your next statement, but depending on your billing cycle, it could be the one after that.

As far as billing for jsut any person that answers the phone, that is simply not the case. You personally listened to the recording of the initial sale. The person answering the phone identified herself as Beverly Burrell three times during the call, identifed herself as co-owner, and accepted service. That is not simply talking to some person doing construction work. We acted in good faith, provided the service we promised, and billed exactly as we explained we would.

I completely understand that you were not happy about being billed. If, as you say, some other person accepted service in your name, you have every right to not be happy. At the same time, if you were to transact business with somebody that used a credit card stating that was their name, or made an appointment for your company to come to their house, you would also have acted in good faith. We did nothing less.

I look forward to seeing your post confirming your refund when you get your telephone bill. Thank you.

You are correct I did speak with someone today after calls & emails. I was told that I would get a credit in one to two months. We will see in one to two months.

As far as your company being a scam I don't know what else you would call a service that bills stuff to people without even speaking to the people getting billed. As in my case I was getting billed for some lady answering our phone while the construction was going on. It's just gets me that your company can charge people with just anyone saying OK do it.

If you are the lady I spoke with on the phone you are the nicest and most informed person I have spoke to while dealing with this mess. Once the charges are reversed I would think a little higher of the situation but at this time I am being told to wait up to two months to see if the charges are reversed and if not call back.

Mr. Burrell, as you know, your situation was dealt with, and resolved to your satistaction, today. You know that our company is not a scam, and that there is no problem with a 30-day trial period. You are making wild generalizations that are completley inaccurate, and most certainly do not apply to you. We do not, and never have, billed any client months at a time. And every customer that calls to cancel is immediately cancelled, service is stopped, and billing ceases. For instance, when you called to cancel on 10/13, at 3:18 PM Pacific time, your account was immediately cancelled, your service was stopped, and your account was removed from the active/billable status.

Our sales agent spoke with somebody identifying themself as your wife on 9/3, explained service and offered. She accepted. During a follow-up call on 9/23, we spoke with the same person that identified herself with the same name. You have to acknowledge that we acted in good faith.

Can any person submit their data to search engines, certainly yes. However, through our partnerships, proprietary technology, and economies of scale, we have your business listed on the first page of Google. An individual submission will not accomplish that.

I'm sorry that you believe that we acted in any way other than honestly with your company. As you know, the 1 month charge you received has already been reversed. I hope you will acknowledge the resolution.

You can BAt for them all you want but it's still a scam. Check out the BBB reports on this company and your so-called cancel in 30 days policy. People that do contact you are billed for months at a time even after they have called to cancel.

You are running nothing more than a scam for the same search engine plugging people can do themselves for free.

Your 3rd party billing practice is a joke & a scam. I for one have fallen victim to your scam myself. The company insist they spoke to my wife at a business that only myself and the contractors have been in for the last six weeks. I have been told there is a recording that I cant listen to and that it was my wife.

I have asked what number you spoke to her at and they keep giving me the business number that is 587 miles from where my wife is located.

No matter who they spoke with I am the owner of the Business and The phone account and have never given anyone any kind of permission to charge my account.

I have contacted the States Attorney and have a meeting for Tuesday Oct, 19.

I would rather go broke in attorney fees then to give in to a scam that is ran like this.

To me its freaking hilarious how people who are smart enough to run they're own company are not smart enough to understand a simple verbal agreement the bottom line is ...there is no charge for ur 30 day free trial unless you dont call to cancel your service at which point you are recieving REAL services because u forgot to cancel what should zipweb do give them to you for free? because you were absent minded? i think not! they also have a system that will actually show you how many hits ur page gets via the zip web service basically all the people who are complaining and actually possibly affecting hundereds of peoples "livelyhood" are mad at THEMSELVES for forgetting to call and cancel ! like i said just because you forget to call and cancel your serv. does not obligate zipweb to give you services for FREE! i started w this company this week and have family in this company and i can tell you now that these people are family orientated and genuine people !

i want to tell you all how i really feel but i cant because i am a future representative of this great comp. that takes very good care theyre employees and cust. ill go to bat for them against anyone who says other wise!...R.B. aka robert

I almost got caught in this web. If your service is that good, then why do you have to charge upfront? I provide a service and leave a bill with a 15 day term and over 90% of our customers pay on time. Others may need a reminder and very few do not pay at all. Those few will not get my services again and maybe I did not do a good job, but most all my customers value my service. Your company bills upfront and must make lots of money by charging businesses that do not watch their bill. Others are billed upfront and told they can cancel but simply forget to cancel or do not clearly understand 3rd party billing and are upset when the bill comes. These customers feel that they did not get value. To be fair, your business takes time to show results, so this one month free is not seen as valuable, thus generating "I want my money back" responses. You may be trying to clean up your act but why not do what others do, provide some results upfront then bill. Believe me, we have no problems staying in business. Our customers keep calling and we provide a valuable service. I know you have to pay you telemarketers but just get a business loan and if you show your customers some value, they will reward you. Most people call your company actions a scam, I may not go as far since I did not sign up and experience what some said here, but Mr Mike Or CEO whatever, why don't you grow some and have businesses feel the need to pay you instead of hiding behind a recorder and phone company. I would bet you could not survive if you needed a credit card approval or a business check. To all that read this far, do not do business over unsolicited phone calls. You can always google a service to make an educated choice. Do your homework, as Mom said.
