I graduated from wyotech on 12-19-08. I took the collision/refinishing program with chassis fab. I definately agree with everyone else...the recruiters don't have a f**king clue what the he// they are talking about. They are all paid to say everything they tell you. There job is to make wyotech look good. The program I went thru used I-car as there curriculum. What a f**king joke! You pay all that money ( about $9, 000 a class/3months) and don't get the I-car points or certifications after sitting through the class. It all costs extra. I just recently got a job and my employer paid for me to sit through an I-car class. It cost $85 and it was the exact same in every way that it was at wyotech...except this time I got the points. Now I find out that because I didn't purchase any of the cd's while I was at school, I am no longer eligible to get certs. 40 individual classes down the f**king drain. As far as I'm concerned I am I-car certified in 40 things because I paid to take the tests thru my tuition and passed them all. But NOOOOOOOOO. They gotta build up the hype and tell you what you wanna hear to get you there and then BAM...you all of a sudden paid 30g's for a 9month janitorial program. Oh yes...they have you doing sooooo much cleaning and bulls**t like that. They treat you like you are a f**king child.

I have soooooooo many issues with this school, I won't even try to explain my whole 9mnth experience with that place. It's a f**king joke. PLEASE take my advice...take your 30 grand that you are about to spend on this school and go buy yourself a descent computer with internet and all the tools and materials you need and just start building s**t. You'd be surprised how fast you can teach yourself something with a little bit of common sense and the internet. After it's all said and done you will own all those tools for future use instead of spending 30 grand for nothing.

Don't Go To Wyotech.

I attended wyotech in Laramie WY in 2011 right after highschool. The school is a total waste of time. I took collision refinishing and stayed 2 months and got pissed off and withdrew. The recruiters tell you a bunch of bull crap to get you up there then once you pack up and move a 1000 miles away from home to go to there dumb school you find out its a complete 180 and not at all what it was cracked up to be. Heres my story first off the recruiter is a liar my recruiters name was Danny coon I heard he's working at UTI now. Anyway he told me all this crap about wyotech about how they only use snap-on tools they only work on the newest most up to date cars no more than 5 years old you get hands on training in the shop working everyday on the cars that they don't believe in classroom lectures bc you learn more by doing...all total BS.
Got up there and here's how my 2 months went.
1. Not a single snap- on tool in the entire shop not even any other quality tools everything was made in China cheap John tools. And if the instructor broke a tool bc they would act like children and throw a hissy fit and throw a power tool across the shop if it broke you wouod get blamed for it and they would charge you for the broken power tool the instructor broke.

2. They most certainly did not have the most newest up to date cars to work on. Again I attended in 2011 the newest car in the shop was like a 86 model nissan. Even in collision refinishing there is a difference between old cars and new cars older cars had thicker metal and no computers and less sensors newer cars are built different so yes it still makes a difference in the way you work paint and body.

3. Out of the two months I spent up there we spent maybe 15 min. In the shop actually working on the cars. The rest of the time we were standing out in the parking lot bc the instructors wanted to sit outside and smoke cigarettes and shoot the bull all day. That's the biggest reason I left bc there wasn't no way I was going to spend $30, 000 to stand outside and smoke cigarettes all day and not learn nothing.

4. They don't tell you this when your looking into going but once you get to Laramie WY you cannot get a part time job anywhere in town if you go to school at wyotech. My class went from 6 am to noon so I wanted to get a part time job in the afternoons to make some extra money for gas and food and stuff. I applied at about 8 places around town and every one of them ask if your going to school and if you say yes I'm attending wyotech they immediately say oh we don't hire wyotech students bc they have had problems with wyotech students in the past bc wyotech actually started out as a reform school for kids who have been in trouble there whole life and every place up there says they don't hire wyotech students.

5. Along with the previous number about can't get q job and wyotech used to be a reform school most of the students up there look like thugs and most of them have a history of theft, drug use, and being in and out of prison the reason they are at wyotech is bc nobody else would take them.
I can go on and on but I think y'all get the picture of what I'm saying wyotech is a waste of time and a waste of money don't go there find a different school to attend you will regret wyotech

I graduated 2013. Made honor roll, perfect attendance. Was told told that when I graduated I would start at $28.00-$30.00 an hour. I would get factory certs. ### . I wanted Harley they said I had to take Asian. ###. I can't get hired anywhere once they know I went to that crap school.

My son graduated in June 2015 from Wyotech in Blairsville and believe me this place is a disaster. He carried a 3.5 gpa, never missed a day from school and what does he have to show for it...nothing but a DEBT for 30, 000.00. He was enrolled in Diesel Technology. They no longer had the job fairs when he was there and no one cared if he found a job or not. He did find a job at a diesel shop but was just laid off after 2 months. His boss knew when he hired him that he had just graduated from the school so he decided to give him a chance... The boss told him he was trained on outdated equipment, over payed for an education that he didn't get and was just ripped off. Now he is unemployed and can't get a diesel job because they want 2-3 years of experience and he surely won't have that. By the way the recruiter told him that his schooling counted as 1 year of experience...WRONG! DON"T SEND YOUR CHILD TO WYOTECH! IT"S A HUGE WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY!

I graduated from Wyotech back in 2005 after taking Automotive, ASM, and the Chassis Fab classes. While attending everyone said it is what you make of it. I graduated 3rd in my class only ever missed 1 day and once back in Pittsburgh couldnt find a job. I at least got interviewed but once most people found I went to Wyotech they said they wouldnt hire me because of the rep Wyotech has. One guy actually told me I could start out washing cars for $9 an hour and maybe get into the shop in a couple years to be trained. Im saddled with a huge debt from Wyotech but luckily I went to a real college and got a real degree. Going to this school was the biggest mistake of my life and I will be paying on it for a long time. If you really want to get into the industry go to a local garage or shop and ask for a job. You may need to as an attendant but you will work your way in and not incur a ton of debt.

I attended the HVAC program about six years ago in Fremont, CA. A total waste of money for what you get. There were instructors who could barley speak English, 6 different instructors in one class (because they had trouble hiring anyone good due to their low paying wages), broken down equipment that you could not work on, classes like pneumatics which are outdated, instructors that showed up late while the students are paying $20 + an hour, outdated textbooks- just to name some of the things wrong with this place. It's not a school it's a business. At least I helped, along with other complaints from students, to have Corinthian Colleges ( the owners of Wyotech) to get rid the lazy overpaid president of the school. Once you get out your lucky to get a job that pays better than 12 dollars an hour. Union companies (which pay far more) won't even consider you because they know Wyotech is a joke and a scam. They shouldn't even be allowed to have government loans. If anyone knows of a class action lawsuit please let me know.

JOEEI, I am really sorry to hear that.

I do have to ask how much research you did.

The Harley dealer next door to Wyotech in Daytona/Ormond does not hire from Wyotech...it only hires from MMI in Orlando. Not that MMI is perfect or anything BUT, they have licensed Harley training and nobody else does.

Went to Wyotech in Fl for Harleys never got a job in my field even though I grad. on honors. My disabled Mom took out a loan and so did I $30, 00 later which I didnt realize cause I was told all but 5, 000 was grants because of my parents both being disabled and retired it was after I graduated they hit us with all the bills. NICE this place is a joke.

? I am a wyotech graduate of a few years back. I did enjoy some parts of it but like most i struggled finacially while there. I had a great job and. my own house That i left in order to move states away to attend school. It all started out great an i wasnt doing to bad till i was more than half way through and still was unable to find a job there. I was living off less than 200 a month with private housing. Need less to say come last semester of my term i could no longer afford private housing. So i contacted the main office an told them my situation...they seemed as though they didnt care anhanded me a list of more private housing that was full or still to exspensive. So i took drastic measures and ended up livein in the back of my truck from october to december. I didnt want to leave school and wanted to finish though there were many times i wanted to give up. I stuck in there and stayed as warm as possible on those single digit nights. I had one instructor that i told my situation to in october. Well come december 2 weeks before graduation my truck broke and i was able to pull it in the shop and fix it so i could get back home. Thats when they finally took notice. I was brought into a office and gave a long talkin to by 3 instructors and admin. I felt as though i had did something wrong it kinda pissed me off. I did stick in there and graduate though i left before the walk to beat a snow storm home. I would not recommend this school to anyone. Though i enjoyed some experiences i was dissapointed almost immediatly arriving there.

I have to say reading the reviews about the school your about to attend being terrible should be intimidating...but unlike many of you when the recruiter came to my house to Talk to my family and I, I asked a ton of questions! So I know what I am walking into! I asked and was told that certifications cost extra but that's ok because NOTHING is free! You think because you paid 30g that your going to come out of there an advanced professional? With certifications? I think not...you have to really try, not fall asleep during lectures and use up all of your tardys during a phase, this isn't high school if you want it you have to study study study and pay a little extra for certifications. Were lucky compared to other college students who come out with twice as much debt as us with the knowledge of how to analyze poems and write ### research papers...and yes the school will be strict but they only treat you like a child if you go into it thinking your some automotive knowledge macho expert cause you took some ### class in high school. Many of my friends have gone to both wyotech and uti and trust me the wyotech grads are doing a hell of a lot better, plus why would you want to attend uti they lost there certifications to teach last year for awhile...sketchy sounding right? That's what employers think too. If you want to be taken seriously you have to act like a professional, dress the part, and know your ###. So please for all the future kids attending wyotech just remember ITS ALL WHAT YOU MAKE OF IT, therefor you must try 100% of the time.

I am currently attending Wyotech at the Blairsville campus. Every bad thing on this forum that i have read is very true. I've been here for 5 months and everyday things seem to get worse. I am given no advice on what to do about anything financially. This school likes to tell you that when you arrive here you will be taken care of and will have no worries. This however is far far from the truth. I am on Genesis. Genesis is a loan given i believe by the school itself but i could be wrong, anyway, basically Genesis is a monthly loan that takes care of your living expenses while at school. The recruiters tells you you will recieve $1000 every month for food. gas, bills, basically whatever you need while at school and away from home. NOT TRUE! The school takes about half of it for "Rent and Living" if you live in the dorms (Oakland Rooney, Indy Park). I get $505.05 a month. That's just barely enough for groceries, gas, daily expenses, and lunch during the week. "For A Month"! On top of that, the school requires you to pay back on the intrest of you loan while in school offering no deferment option. I pay $116 a month out of my $505 check. I asked for help they sent me around the campus talking to alot of different people who all had the same thing to say " It's how it is, get used to it". There are no jobs down here so don't even try to get hired somewhere. There is another College about ten miles away and the two campus' together leave very few jobs available. The only thing to do in Blairsville is spend money. THERE IS NOTHING HERE! The instructors in my current phase (Chassis Fab) are the most incompetent pair of people i have ever met. I have been yelled at in class for asking a neighbor a question about something we've learned. They have taken our breaks away on past days so that they could finish their laborious Ben Stein approach to teaching. We spent 4 hours on Monday learning how to remove a front wheel bearing. then, after lunch... We spent 3 hour learning how to properly pack said bearing full of grease. You gotta understand, no one asked questions during this lecture, they just kept going over and over it. All of this took place in the classroom, not the shop. The school gives you 25 hours a phase that you can miss in case something comes up. however, if you go over that number for ANY reason, they will ask you to leave and you wont be able to come back for six months. (Re-Paying for school before you re-attend by the way). I just recently had the flu, very bad i might add. I went through my 3 days pretty quickly (Im in 8 hour classes) and had to attend class while very ill just so i wouldn't get kicked out. me being in class infected my neighbors on either side of me which then spred like a wildfire and hit the whole class (estimate about 60 people in my class). Now, ALOT of us have no time we can take in case we get sick again or a family emergency happens. I am a father, My daughter is 4 years old. If something were to happen and i would need to go home for a period this school will time me out meaning fail me basically. Now that is messed up, and how it's legal is beyond me. Let me give you an example of the stress level im at right now... i have 3 weeks left in this phase. If i forget to shave my face and show up to class, i will be asked to leave at my expense. I'm talking about time expense. i could very well be kicked out of school for being unshaved. Talk about PETTY! What garage in America has clean, shaved, gentleman technicians? in my experience, most techs at regular run of the mill garages have beards, tattoos, their covered in grease, maybe smoke or chew tobacco. Real Techs right? The unreal approach this school has about their dress code in amazing. Orange County Choppers is this schools sponsor and im pretty sure Paul Sr. is covered in tattoos, swears like a sailor, and isn't afraid to get dirty. If this school can respect this man and his appearance, why not mine? There are so many things that happen day to day its hard to keep track of them all. Shop Time! The biggest joke in history. watch any video about any of the Wyotech schools and they will tell you you spend just as much time in a classroom as in the shop. NO! This phase is 6 weeks long and im 3 weeks in and have been to the shop 3 times. would have been 4 but like i said earlier i was sick for 3 days, one of which the class had a shop day. You cant do anything to the cars unless we've covered it in class. I couldn't change a damn tire last phase because we didn't cover it. WHAT IS THAT? Im a 31 year old independent student and i have some kid instructor tell me i can't do simple work like change a tire? i mean c'mon. Shop is a joke in this phase. Last phase the material we were covering was a little harder (Being Electrical Diagrams and all) but we were in the shop almost everyday, Brian DeClaudio busted his ### as an instructor, we still don't know how he did it but each and everyone of us was personally coached and trained by Brian in the shop and i think the lowest grade in our class that phase was a 80%... Thats a "B" in case you are wondering. All the same people are in my class this phase and the "A's" (4 of them) are struggling like hell to hold onto that grade. i have never seen more stressed out people before in my life and i've been to state prison in the past. This school just does not care, they really don't. If they can't make a buck, they won't waste their time. I have maintenence searching my dorm while im not there, old out of shape and useless security guards looking for unlocked cars and dorm rooms to search. Let me clarify why... You can't have Alcohol, Drugs, Guns, Knives, Paintball Guns, Car Parts, etc. Yeah, Automotive school and your not allowed car parts in your dorm. you can't even work on your car in the parking lot. This school is getting away with far too much and i feel some authority should be notified but i am unaware of who that authority would be. If you have a chance to come to Wyotech... Do it! If you really want 9 months of hell broke with no help and no answers then by all means sign up. I feel like im 15 and reporting to detention everyday i go to class. Unprofessional!

i attend wyotech as we speak and its not too bad of a program. i am going for harley davidson in daytona. yes, the recruters throw alot of bull in your head because they are trying to get paid but if your passionate about motorcycles you should already know that if u work for a big business your not getting paid over 11 dollars an hour and the best way to make money is to work for yourself. Yes 26, 00 grand is a lot of money for an education but if its your passion GO FOR IT! and get as much as you can out of it.

you get what you put in. all the people that are complaining that it is a waist of time are the ones that were too lazy or didn't pay attention in class so they have to make up excuses for their failing ways. i know the type of people that graduate from the school and cant hold a job. that is there fault. i also know the people that after school, they get in the field that they wanted to get into and they are doing grate (including myself)

all you little girls should put on your grown up pants and be men about the situation. you are just lazy and don't give it all you can. you have to start from the bottom and work your way up. "the greatest oak tree was once a little nut that held his ground"

I attended wyotech daytona beach campus in the motorcycle program. i learned a ton and i tried hard everyday and attended class everyday. It is what you make out of it. i graduated in 09 and i constantly have side work and fix peoples motorcycles all the time. i also worked at a shop for few months but it recently burned down due to faulty electrical problem. There were people with complaints all the time but they just wanted something to cry about because they didn't put forth enough effort to learn and study. I recommend this school to anybody who is self disciplined and knows how to put an effort into learning.

I agree with the last person who commented I got pulled over saying I was driving fast I really wasnt speeding honestly I wasnt the cops have no lives. I got guns pointed to my head before in blairsville. Went threw a checkpoint got a ticket for driving under the influence and I was in the passanger seat, then they said I poured liquor in my juice when we just brought the juice the cop told me oh we are going to have fun with you. I thought I was going to get hung or something that night. But he said shut up are you callin me a liar I said yes sir and I got more tickets for calling his stupid ### a liar. My recruiter said there was a boxing gym no there wasnt I brought my own boxing equitment there and never took it home at oakland roonie(the person who ran the building shery was very nice and said anything to make you feel at home because I know you arent from here and we dont have everything u want so if u want go head sweetheart, she was the best). But I left me equitment there because I couldnt come back since I got my license suspended so I couldnt drive. A cop followed 54 miles then decided to pull me over for no reason because of how I painted my car at wyotech. These are all state troopers by the way who can get away with anything. I had a friend from mississippi who nev#r had money so I gave him some of my clothes and so forth man that place was a living hell. If you had no friends you wont make it I had alot so I made it. If my recruiter would have said oh you wont get a job up there because I.u.p students come first or because you were a certain color I probably would have went to I.u.p college instead. The Asm program credits wont transfer and that degree didnt mean ### once I left so im learning everything all over at my Community College that im enrolled in. the job market is slim and in order to paint cars lol...every employer told me I needed 5yrs eexperience. I fininally decided to say f*** the industry period and went back to school and I am currently on the dean's list. Wyotech Blairsville was hell for me and I wouldnt go back if they paid for my loans that I owe thats how much im frustrated with that school. They teach you enough, to me the teachers were great thought some of them where crackheads but they still were pretty cool their whole profesionlism code sucks ### cuz in the real nobody cares about your mustache they just want it neat. So if I did it all over agian I would go to college also...

I agree I went to wyotech it was a complete waist. I endured racism all kinds of stuff was told to take my black ### back to where i came from because i wasn't wanted up there..Harassed by cops pulled over car was searched for no reason said i had weed in my car they found nothing but a black and mild. they were stereotyping me from the door, saying he wasn't going to make it past this class watch. i completed all my courses just cause they kept motivating me. i had no money cause what they give you wasn't nothing. Once your checked was gawn you were done unless you had friends to help you. they sold us a dream saying you could make all kinds of good money when you get out, and it isn't true. i was better off staying home or going to a real college. That associates degree they offered me was a waste of my time cause nobody took me serious because it wasn't the college degree...Just cause my music was different i got judged to fast they didn't tell me i would endure racism. they didn't tell me i couldn't get a job up there. they didn't tell me people didn't really care for techers up there...they didn't tell me i had to shave my mustache until i got there. i was like whatttt they didn't tell me if your hair was past a certain length you had to cut it off or leave the school.wwwhhaaattt i was fed up with that school and couldn't wait to go home. But i must say the Coordinator of the Collision building did excuse me for the mustache because of the bumps he was nice about that. the A.S.M teachers that former cop and the other guy with the glasses where good teachers and my upholstery teachers were the best though Mrs. Melissa, Brian, and the other 3 Lol...they all new their stuff but the ### i had to endure in the process was crazy better be prepared for everything when you go up there.. And when you get out good luck finding a JOB. Cause they just want their money back if i did it all over again i probably wouldn't have gawn. I probably would have went to a real college got meal tickets, and other type of helpful stuff. We called it "LYOTECH" I made friends with people from everywhere around the world because we all felt the same i didn't need to go to Lyotech to work at Pep-boys or McDonald's etc. I went there to make a good amount of Money when I left.

WyoTech rules! They have been turning out first class apprentices for almost 50 years! our son is making 65K a year managing an auto repair shop. He graduated WyoTech Fremont in 2002. You get out of it, what you put into it. They also have a first class career services dept to employ 72% of thier graduates. Erika, Dublin, Ca

My son attended WyoTech Fremont in 2003-04, He graduated with honors, and was placed with Pep Boys. They put him through a 1 year school to be a manager. He worked as both a service manager, and a store manager. 60K a year, I thought that was pretty cool for a 24 year old. after 7 years, he quit, was unemployed for all of three days, and started at Meinike as a service manager.
My wife attended WyoTech Fremont in the HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning. She also graduated near the top of her class. She graduated on Friday and Monday started her new career doing electrical troubleshooting on circuit boards, over the phone. She has been doing that for nearly two years and loves it.
The reason there are so many complaints on this board are, you get out of it what you put into it. WyoTech is employing 72% of their graduates. The folks who have succeeded are at work, and don't have the time to ###, moan and complain. PS Note the diction and spelling of the complainers. My name is Dave, and OUR school is WyoTech!

I went to wyotech in daytona and graduated in 2010 in the marine program with powersports, as far as learning, I came out with more knowledge than I went in with but there lifetime job placement is ###. I was placed with a guy and worked for 1.5 months with no pay, left him, tried to get student services to place me somewhere else and have never heard back from them? Now I'm behind in student loans, unemployed, and still can't get a damn call back. This was the biggest mistake of my life

I have been an instructor at WyoTech Fremont for six years. The administration does a good job hiring. If the instructor is sub par, they will be fired ASAP. We are here for the students. Period. We, the instructors, are mostly either retired or disabled, and want to share the trade with our students. A big problem is the public schools don't offer industrial arts anymore. Our students have to be taught to read a tape measure, and indentify tools. Regardless, when I started here our career services dept was employing 95% right after graduation. Now, we are still employing 72%. I feel that all of these misspelled rants are written by Those 18% less fortunate, The career services dept is a LIFETIME benefit. I have seen HUNDREDS employed while here! My name is Dave, and my school is WyoTech

to the people that are saying that the job placement is crap. that is because you did not do your research and find out what classes gave you certs and which ones don't. also you probably didn't take classes that have a high turnover rating like automotive technology with a elective in light duty diesel. with the automotive tech and light duty diesel you get your certs and you can be hired by just about any dealership (that hasn't dealt with you punks too much that gave wyotech a bad name). and your right they are in it for the money. it is your job to pay for what you wanted and ask the questions to find out everything. you are probably the same people that buy something cuz its new and hyped up without finding out anything about it. you just want it so you spend the money. grow up and accept responsibility for your own poor decisions

i am attending wyotech of daytona for marine mechanics and i am 50/50 on the hole situation wich is a serious problem for paying 30 grand for one year. the teachers are all lazy and chain smoke cigerattes every hour, half of them are drug users and dont give two ### about the students.the course were in now we get absolutely no lectures, every thursday we go into a class room for maybe an hour and they GIVE US THE ANSWERS TO A TEST that we take on friday. its 100% ### and there all in it for the money. if you want to learn anything you have to brown nose the teachers and look for the over confedent ###s in the red shirts. the attendence situation is just another excuse to take your money.

My husband went to wyotech blairsville. He never missed a day, worked hard, and was top of his class. He took the diesel class and many others and spent 40gs! His recruiter and teachers told him he would start out making 18 atleast an hour. After 4 years he now makes 11 at a small shop. He only makes that much because he is 1 of 4 employees. Previously he made 8-10 at various shops and has been laid off 3 times in 4 years because even though he was not the last one hired he was just a techer to his employers. There are many places in town that won't hire wyotech students. We can't afford his student loans and the government just took our tax return because of it. So this whole your degree is what you make of it is crap. Shops won't hire wyotech students. My husband worked very hard and had straight As! And he was still cast put as a "techer" and even admitts while he did learn something from school he learned much much more working with our neighbor who is a 66 year old vw mechanic. Don't go here. Don't even think about it! One of his teachers was 24 and would have sex with underage girls in his office! The others were washed up burn outs who promised him the moon and told him how they made 20/hr doing tune ups all day. Run away from this school. It destroyed our lives and our credit! I'm trying to find a way to sue!

My son attended in Sacramento, CA. He graduated in Dec of 2010. Once out he received a bill for the financing and his payments are $495.00 a month. How do they expect him to pay that amount of money when he is working in an entry level position. When we first signed him up for the school we were told that his payments would not exceed $75.00 - $100.00. He took Lt. Duty Diesel, Smog and ASM. He graduated with student achievement awards. however, Wyotech is holding his certificates and his diploma hostage. The staff is completely rude and abusive. I have spoken to several of them thus far to get the items released to no avail. They have his certificates, dipoloma, tool deposit and housing deposit. This school is absolutely ridicules. I am seeking an attorney to get this resolved.

I am currently attending the diesel course at the Laramie WY campus and supposed to graduate the 24th of this month, and have had nothing but problems from the get go.
[censored] #1- Months before I started the program in September of 2010 I sent in my housing contract and housing deposit ($150). After coming to Wyotech I found out that they had received my deposit but not my contract although I had sent the two together in the same envelope. I was livid but didn’t get anywhere with management. They basically told me I was screwed and didn’t have a place to live. I found a place to live no thanks to them.

[censored] #2- I had initially applied for diesel core and advanced diesel as my elective. My rep told me he couldn’t get me into advanced because it was backed up for over a year. I said ok, it is what it is oh well so I picked a different elective. When I arrived to Wyotech I soon found out there was 15 people in the advanced class while there was over 60 people in the elective I ended up in. Wow I thought, these people are really on top of their game (not).

[censored] #3- Wyotech is supposedly all about professionalism but is not enforced. The truth of the matter is idiot kids with nowhere else to go is wyotechs bread and butter. That’s what they thrive on, so they accommodate these idiots, meanwhile the students that are looking to actually learn something about the profession get screwed over and don’t learn what I think they should learn.

[censored] #4- About a month ago I got called into the financial aid office to learn that I owed wyotech over $700 dollars. I didn’t understand why and never got a solid answer why no matter who I talked to and how hard I tried to get to the bottom of it. Still not understanding why I owed this money they threatened to kick me out, so I paid the money to stay in. I’m not exactly made of money and I had a very hard time scraping the money together but I made it happen.

[censored] #5- After being told I owe this money and paying it a month ago I find out that I supposedly owe these crooks over $1300! I am once again absolutely livid! I once again cannot get an answer as to why I owe this money to these crooks. I absolutely refuse to pay this money and if they threaten to not let me graduate that’s ok with me. They can kiss my @$$. I don’t care anymore.

I was an Instructor at the Fremont Location, and it was a nightmare trying to teach, FIrst the ad reps would enroll anyone, Pedophiles, Felons, Drug Dealers, people I could never get a job in the trades, (trades background checks before they send employees to house's ), but they would leave that out, and then I would catch ### for telling a young felon it would be hard to place them. The are MONEY PITS, and DIPLOMA MILLS, I'm not some pissed off, fired employee, after 5 years of beating my head against the wall, fighting Corporate office, School Staff, and Students, I gave up. Most of the Instructors have issues with drugs and alcohol, They work you do death, and have any warm body teach a class because the teachers had worse attendance issues then the students, so you might get the Sheet Metal teacher, teaching transmissions, or the Engines Class Back up instructor leading the Electricians Course.
I would suggest you go to a UNIVERSITY, not a trade school or any kind of For Profit school, I taught at 3 different types of colleges with Corinthian Colleges, and they are all the same, they want your money, they want you to grad out, and they want you to disappear. Most are unhappy, Most won't complain because they feel it will fall on Deaf ears, which it will. Put these schools out of business by NOT ATTENDING THEM. Yes it takes 4 years to get a REAL university degree, but you won't get laughed at, and you will be taken seriously in the Business world, these schools are laughed at and frowned upon.
If you feel ripped off, then contact your congressman, if enough of you file written complaints with they will have a gov official look into them!
Good luck!

I'm wondering what sort of grades all you complainers got at Wyotech? I have found that the ones that do the most complaining are the ones that do not do anything to help them get ahead. Or they read a bunch of BS on the internet and decide yeah, its a bad school. Which is stupid to me. The internet is full of BS now days. I studied auto tech and advanced diagnostics. My Wyotech recruiter was amazing, I adore her. I am glad I sat down with someone. We went over everything. There was lots of stuff that I didn't realize about the school that was not on the website. You should know too..EVERY CAMPUS IS DIFFERENT! I heard stuff about California so I went to Laramie because that was the first campus. And I loved it there... my rep stayed in touch and If she didn't know something, she would find someone who did. She even called an instructor when we met together the first time because she didn't know an answer to a question I had. Everyone at Wyotech really wants to help you, but you have to show that you are serious. I graduated last year and I am working at a dealership making good money right now. I agree with the other person who said having Wyotech on their resume made a difference. It did for me too. My employer was very familiar with Wyotech and their reputation in the trans maintenance industry. Its really good. Paying back my loans aren't killing me either... Hell, I had a car payment before I went to Wyotech and that wasn't making me any money... my cert is. So all you bad commenters, I feel sorry you didn't get more from it. I know I can go back to study again for free if my program knowledge gets limited, and I will in a heartbeat.

The Class and Lecture time is 50/50 .How could you not learn?! People need to gear up and take some responsibility. WyoTech as a life long Career Service department, how could you not get a job? Put some effort into it. Call them and keep in contact. Use what you paid for?!Its hard for everyone to get a career these days and you just got to bust your butt like everyone else. People get lazy and think everything is going to be handed to them. I know people who graduated from the university and can’t get hired to save their life! It’s what you make of it people! Ugh… people bug me. If you have a real question about the school, I can get you a real answer. JUST ASK ME!Not these people who half [censor] and expect to be hired on to Kenworth .

My spouse and I were both enrolled in the motorcycle program at Wyotech in Daytona. Wyotech has it's pro's.. but they certainly do not out weigh the con's. I would like to first say that we both learned a whole lot during our time at Wyotech. However, neither of us had any previous mechanical knowledge. What we learned at Wyotech was very basic. Coming from a background with absolutely no mechanical knowledge, we both maintained a gpa of 4.0.. with a 98% average. I feel that wee have just began to brush the surface of mechanics. $30k each later (that's $60k!) I have not heard once from career services, I have been in to see them on a few occasions and although there were people stuffed in random cubicles none of them so much as smiled at me, or even looked my way let alone asked me (the 30K paying customer) if they could be of assistance. The attendance policy is ridiculous. We came to Wyotech with lives already in the works, we are not children and those of us who are still pay the same $30k and therefore should be treated as customers. Some of us have children of our own, and bills, and life to take care of. It is impossible to manage the rest of our lives while we are expected to be at school from 7am to 4:15pm every weekday. Nothing opens before 7 and if you have ever been to the Daytona campus you know that you will not be leaving the parking lot until at least 5 with the traffic cluster (whose dumb idea was that.. ?) Most things close at 5. We are repeatedly told that the key to success at Wyotech is attendance.. attendance.. attendance.. I have been told that my grades (98% in every class) will make little difference to employers because my attendance is shot. Reasons I missed: 1. Had to enroll my children in school and drive them in their first day (it's the rule for students coming in mid year) 2. Received a call from child's school.. child is puking and must be picked up immediately 3. Children need physicals to enroll in school.. 2 different appts.. Doc cannot see all children on same day. Etc Etc. How can I keep good attendance and still not go to jail for neglecting my children! Then to boot I am treated like a child and an idiot by every admin and 1/2 the teachers.. and some of the admins are young girls nearly the age that spend the night with mine on weekends. I am no fool, I am not an idiot nor am I a [censor] (or an [censor] like you Mr. Shriver) I know the value of a dollar.. and Wyotech is not at all worth 30 thousand of them.. maybe if tuition were closer to ten grand.. then you'd be getting what you paid for. I DO NOT RECCOMMEND PAYING $30k TO ATTEND WYOTECH.

I have been to other colleges before attending Wyotech and I have to say Wyotech's program itself is not bad. The way they design the program is not bad, I am complaining about how the school is running it like a business and not an institution that actually will fail a student who actually never makes it. For example if you fail a quiz or a test, usually you get that score, here they just let you retake the dam thing or intentionally change grades to pass you so they can make more tuition. On top of that 1 out of 10 instructors are actually acting professionals but the rest of them are just [censor]. They have no education, foul language all the time, talks on the cell phone while teaching, they can teach you the hands on part but they don't know the bookwork part themselves because they never actually went to school themselves. The qualifications to be an instructor there is only if they have at least 10 years of field experience and carry a licenese but not any teaching credentials or any schooling background. The school is a [censor]ing money eating machine. I would not sugguest going here unless your G.I. Bill is paying for it.

Most of you that are posting these negative comments towards wyotech realize that a standard university will do the same thing? If you miss too many hours of class time you will get kicked out no matter what the reason. If you dont pay attention in class yes you will fail they do go over alot of material very quickly. Im currently enrolled in ASM, Streed Rod, High Performance Powertrains, and Automotive Core classes in Blairsville and I have loved every minute Wyotech is 100% what you make out of it and if a employer flat out states that they will not hire you for going to wyotech that is discrimination against you and if you really want a job in the field dont sit on your [censor] waiting for someone to call you. You need to physically go to the shops and ask to speak to a manager about a possible position its not that hard. Wyotech is not a bad school at all and yes the negative attitude with alot of students is here and unfortunetly its a majority of the class. The teachers not caring, some do and some dont, but if you go to a normal university the classes are twice sometimes 3 times as big depending on the school and the professor could give a [censor] less about every student, they dont have time to. Its the same as wyotech they have to move on with the curriculum simply because it is so fast paced. Get it through your skull and to those of you who think it is not a normal college it is definately and you will have to work hard for what you want.
