Shocking after-sales service / no refund given
The day before my hire was due to commence, I was called by NationwideHireUK to say that my van had broken down but that they could provide me with a smaller van. I was also promised a refund for the price delta between the big Vs smaller van hire. Moving to a smaller van was a big issue for me, but I had no choice but to accept given the short notice.
But I never received the refund. I have tried to call them numerous times & nobody will help me. I raised a formal complaint case on their web site & have had no response whatsoever from that.
They don't care, & as far as I can tell, have no intention of giving me the refund they promised. It is very frustrating & unjust - that's why I've taken the time to write this review.
Desired outcome: Give me the refund that was promised & have the decency to respond to the complaint cases that I raised on the company website.

It's not a company, it's a nightmare.
Absolutely irresponsible people who don't care about their customers.
I booked a mini-bus on Monday. They required some information from me which was immediately provided. I did everything they asked to get the things done. I called and wrote 2 emails just to make sure they received everything and that they have no questions. The mini-bus had to arrive at 6:30 am on Thursday. It didn't. I called them to ask what happened, they said that they minibus was unavailable at that time, please, choose a different day.
No, thank you. I asked for a refund, they agreed. We'll see how fast they will be.
This company needs looking into, we wanted to hire a 12 seater mini bus for the weekend of champions league final, I called to cancel on the same day I made the booking. When I got through I was told I have to make the cancellation by email.
They took the money straight away £1500
Now this was done on the day of the booking, in the mean time I phoned back to cancel the booking then as I mentioned they said it would have to be by email.
Take into consideration my email was sent to them before they sent their confirmation email
They said to complete the hire they would need our drivers licenses which we didn’t submit to them as we had cancelled the hire
I contacted them on 3-4 more occasions only to be fobbed off each time.
In their T&C’s there is no mention of taking the fee in full on making a booking.
We have now taken this further, as they do not want to pay back the full amount, they are making offers for something they can make offers on.
It is theft of the highest order and this company needs to be brought to book.

Stole my money
I used Nationwidehireuk only once and rented a car via their website.
Two months later they charged my card for who knows what and that was made without my permission. When I contacted customer service it seemed that they were surprised to hear that. They said they'll refund me as soon as possible and promised to contact me back later. They never did that and the worst part was that they stopped replying! These people scammed me a stole my money!

They asked to pay for the fuel, but tank was full
I hired the car through the website www.nationwidehireuk.co.uk. It was mentioned that I need to pay the deposit and after I would return the car, they would calculate the consumption and sum of the fuel. When I returned the car, it turned out that the car was insufficient filled. They added the sum for the fuel. I tried to explain that I filled the full tank. They didn’t listen to me. Be careful with them and make the agreement with them, which will suit you more.
They provided wrong car and it was real fraud
I rented Mercedes through the company www.nationwidehireuk.co.uk. When we arrived to the airport, there was a minibus for us. It was dirty inside and the smell was awful. We called to the company and the rep excused and told us that all other cars were unavailable. Seriously? It was scam, because we booked the car 2 weeks before our trip. They simply got money for the expensive car and decided to deceive us. Don’t use the services of this company.
Disgusting service, let down a whole family with 3 children on their moving day not just once but 3 times with broken promises and still kept our payment until the end of the day we were meant to move which then won't be refunded for 3 working days so couldn't even book another company. Completely devastated on an already stressful occasion. You are a cancer to hire company's and I am seeking legal advise
Will never use again
Absolutely terrible ! Asked for delivery of 11.00am and arrived at 12.00 noon. Asked for collection of 10.00pm same day but didn't come for it till 12.30 pm the following day. Didn't reply to my phone calls. Eventually got thtough but unhelpful staff. Found out off driver that they were using my address as storage for the van for the following days delivery as it saves them money b****y cheek ! Will never use again.
False advertising, or badly trained agents
I found this site while looking for a 7.5tonne truck to hire. This site advertises a 7.5 tonne automatic transmission truck with sleeper-cab and tail-lift. I used the facility that provides a quote, and got a price for three days hire. When I contacted the company, I was informed by their agent: "We do not have auto trucks, I can tell you catagorically that I have never seen auto's advertised on our site." So is this false advertising, or is it that the agents on the phone are badly trained?
AVOID WARNING ! They crashed all my house move day, was booked van 3.5 weeks before to 8.30 AM. When the van not arrive on time I did 21 call (8 successful) trying to sort things out. My booking simply disappear and no free vans was left, finally at 11.10 AM they delivery van of other company, I thought finally all sorted... :D As discussed before with company if Im not able to return van until 6.00 PM I should give a call (did on 3.29 PM) to company to arrange morning collection from my next door neighbor, car was left for morning collection 10.20 PM same day. Now, after 4 days I was charged for £ 623.59 and £42 ! THEY STOLEN FROM ME MORE THAN £500.. You can imagine my surprise and shock? My neighbor mate said no one came to collect it for three days. Now they reject all my complains, said they was come to pick up van and it wasn't ready for collection... :D For real I want to cry, who can help me now to fight with these mother f...s? Fantastic solution to make money from costumers... YOU ARE WARNED !
