Armstrong Steel Steel building scam

I like so many others in 2021 trusted this company to provide a high quality steel building and if I paid my deposit in advance the price was "locked" SCAM . I paid the $8400 deposit in March of 2021 and my Building plans were to be delivered by 6/7/2021. They were not . I placed many calls to my assigned project manager . All were ignored and I was told 7 weeks later that my project manager went out on maternity leave and that no one at Armstrong could gain access to her computer files or even bother to return my calls during the proceeding 7 weeks ; so my plans would have to be recreated ? Really? Weeks later when my new project manager sent the "original " plans , they were wrong . Not only did they have the wrong engineering loads they now would not honor my original contract " locked in " pricing and they attempted to blame me and if one reviews the current class action case filed in the federal court in Denver Co. more than 40 people have been victimized by this company . All with the same SCAM. They were told they had a "price lock" if they paid their deposit. They did. Armstrong then BREACHED the contract and shifted the blame to the consumer and so many of these victims are senior citizens that trusted Armstrong with tens of thousands of dollars of their retirement monies . No ONE was offered a refund . I simply asked Armstrong to refund my deposit , they refused . I have no building . I have no refund. I spent over $2800 in site preparation only to learn that I was not going to receive the building for the contracted price .. I will be filing my suit by June as the class action continues . I plan on filing against Ryan the salesperson , Claudio the " sham " project manager and Brooke , the rude VP who ignored my calls and then decided to blow off our planned phone call , as she had "out of town quests" that were more important than our scheduled meeting and then flat out refused any refund. I have pending complaints with both Oregon and Ca. attorney general's office and I am sure Armstrong could care less as they have over $800,000 in consumer deposits , money that they have no intention on returning or making it right by the victims they leave in their wake .

Desired outcome: A refund of my deposit plus interest for a total of $10,000

Armstrong Steel Armstrong Steel is an immoral company

BUYER BE AWARE – Read the 1 star and 5-star reviews, also read the BBB reviews. Most important read the fine print on your contract. Armstrong Steel is an immoral company and will steal your money given the opportunity, read the fine print closely. The 5-star reviews are very generic without details or substance. The 1-star reviews paint a picture of the problems Armstrong has with deliveries, materials, and the moral character of the Company.

Armstrong Steel will change the quoted price of the building and delivery fees when circumstances beyond their control happens with a basic answer of, “Sorry, read the fine print!” Yet, when circumstances beyond the control of the customer happens Armstrong’s response is, “No refund, sorry read the fine print!”

No refund? I suggested an alternative solution, “Complete and use my deposit to buy Armstrong Steel advertised products like garage doors, windows, etc. Armstrong’s answer, “Sorry, read the fine print!”

When asked why no refund Armstrong’s response is, “Armstrong has time and materials into the design work.” Armstrong it’s a rectangular steel building you recreate the wheel every time? Sure, give Armstrong the benefit of doubt they recreate the wheel every time, so at most Armstrong has 20 to 40 hours work in my project and a deposit of $13,400. To keep that entire deposit, they’d need a bill rate of $335 to $670 per hour.

Armstrong Steel is an immoral company. A customer’s deposit is not Armstrong’s money it’s the customers money. For Armstrong Steel to keep or not return a portion of the deposit because of their tightly written “fine print” is a legal way for them to steal your money!

Desired outcome: Full deposit refunded

Armstrong Steel Total refund of deposits

I ordered a 40x40 shop in July of 21 and was told that I should expect delivery in early 22. I put a deposit of $9K down, after several emails with my project mgr I was always told a couple more months, in late summer of 22 and after complaints to the BBB I finally received my drawings in Sep, they were incomplete so I can’t get my permits, there are no footing or slab details, also there is no details in the blueprints on the attachment of the building to my house. So how do I know that I am getting enough materials to attach and finish the building to my home. Without these plan details I cannot obtain my permits, I am not buying a building that I can’t get permits for.

Armstrong Steel Purchase agreement and failure to deliver

September 2021 a purchase agreement was signed, deposit sent 13,000 discovered they neglected to add seals etc. so an additional fee was updated, money sent. Poor communication on where my building was in process, spoke with customer service, concern that they have over sold and failed to provide building... Now Merry Christmas got a call stating due to material costs an additional 22,867 is owed upon delivery. 43% increase... I have requested pricing from 2021 to current to understand why the upcharge as prices have returned to "pre covid" rates. The Director of Client Services called and they will reduce the additional cost to 15,231. My concern is this a scam, they pushed to get the contract signed, referred to "terms and condition" to discover #9 allows them to change the price owed. so this Purchase order is just an exercise holds not credibility in their eyes. Submitting a FIOA Michigan law section 15.231-234 to learn cost of materials from time of order place to current. There is a class action case 1:22 cv--01118-wjm currently in Colorado with many others experiencing the same "deceptive sales and advertisement tactics", bait and switch

Desired outcome: To get my deposit back, for this company to be removed from BBB rating they do not deserve to be in business.

Armstrong Steel Metal riding arena building

My husband and I signed a purchase order for a metal building with Armstrong Steel on July 16, 2021 for $144,706.80. We added a roll-up door for an additional $5,532.82. We paid a down payment of $38,943 to lock in the price to avoid any price increases. On October 10, 2022, Armstrong Steel called to inform us our building was going to cost over an additional $119,000. We are in our 70’s and on a fixed income. Our dream was to have an indoor riding arena. That dream has been shattered. We hired a man to prepare the site for the building soon after signing the contract with Armstrong Steel. He took $100,000 from us, lost it, then committed suicide. We immediately contacted Armstrong Steel, we felt we could no longer afford the building. Since Armstrong would not refund our $38,943, we refinanced our home to purchase the building. We have paid for a wetland delineation study, the old dirt to be trucked away and new dirt brought in and leveled, electricity and water brought out to the site, engineered plans for the footings, and fencing to put inside the building. Now we have nothing but a dirt patch. Armstrong Steel has refused to honor our original contract or refund our deposit.

Desired outcome: Refund of our deposit or the building at the locked in price we agreed on

Armstrong Steel Doubled the signed po agreed and locked in price / 10 month delay / still no building

I fail to see how Armstrong Steel can have an A+ rating and reviews averaging 4.77 out of 5 given the number of complaints filed against it the last couple of years and the one I am filing. As with the other complaints filed over the last couple of years, Armstrong appears to use intentionally deceptive and misleading business practices (possibly bordering on fraudulent) to induce customers to sign contracts at a lower price only to try and swindle them for more money once the contract is signed. Over a year ago, I started working with one of their sales persons (Otto...) and he provided me with a price of $67,500 to build an 80 foot by 100 foot pole barn - all I needed to do was sign the Purchase Order. I was induced to sign the PO to lock in the price but, interestingly enough, the terms and conditions were not sent to me with the PO. Instead, they were included in a link within the PO buried in very small print at the bottom of the page. When I signed the PO on February 24, 2021, in my mind I had a completed contract - all that needed to be finalized was location of doors and whether I wanted the building painted. Over the course of the next couple of weeks, I worked with the first assigned project manager who never indicated I needed to sign their Final Design Acknowledgement (FDA) form in order to lock in the price; rather, she just said we needed to finalize things. It wasn't until April 30, 2021 that I was presented with the FDA and signed it and the change order for the additional costs of the building (paint and door locations - another approximate $11,000 bringing the total building price to approximately $79,000. For both of these, I made down payments totaling over $21,000.

Then, throughout the course of the next 8 months, I tried to figure out when Armstrong would start construction on the building. I went through two other project managers (for a total of three) and finally was put into the design queue in December 2021. In January of this year, Brooke from Armstrong told me I would owe an additional $60,000 because the price of steel had gone up. I have asked repeatedly how they can charge me for their delays and noted that we had a contract signed on February 24, 2021 and that if they were allowed to increase the price of the building (assuming for sake of argument they could) that the additional price would have been reflected in the April 30, 2021 change order. No additional cost was identified on that change order and it is unbelievable to think that they can come back after their customers and ask for more money to do the work when the signed documents reflect the price to be paid.

Even though, in my mind, we had a final contract on February 24, they didn't present me with the FDA until April 30 and now are claiming, like most everyone else that has filed a complaint, that they are due additional monies. They refuse to answer my question of what they have done with my down payment and I fear they have committed theft by using it to pay for projects that were in line before me. All they say is that they cannot deliver the building at the contracted price. To me, they have effectively canceled the contract but they refuse to refund me my down payment. This is very troubling and I will also be filing a complaint with the State Attorney General's office due to their deceptive and possibly fraudulent business practices. I would highly recommend against doing business with this company and, sadly, may have to hire an attorney.

Desired outcome: Want my down payment refunded.

Armstrong Steel Their bait and switch tactics

Armstrong Steel is a terrible company. The first thing they did is the way they got me online. They did a Black Friday sale. So, it tells you you're almost gonna get $4,000 off. Based on that price, it comes out really cheaper than everybody else. When you do it, you don't really get the details of everything because they said, "Oh, project manager will give you the details of everything." When you sign up for it, on the bottom, it tells you, you have 30 days to figure out all the details to keep the Black Friday's pricing. So, I got that. Two weeks went by, there still was nothing. I did it on Black Friday, which was around Thanksgiving.

I've called a couple times and said, "Project manager hasn't called me. I already lost two weeks." They said, "No, no. He'll be there." I lost about two weeks out of the 30 days. Then once I started dealing with the project manager, I realized that an extra door was an added cost, the side door was an added cost, and everything was nickel-and-diming. It ended up being a lot more. I was still trying to find the details of everything, and within that four weeks, my project manager was gone one weekend because her grandkid was born. Then another time, she had a stroke. Within those 30 days, I was asking questions. Right after they sent me something, I lost a day because they had to come back the next day.

The last of my final 30-day deadline was on a Sunday. I had the email saying on Friday, "Hey, make sure that you get the correct detail. The space between the doors must be five feet. So, please have that on the final paperwork so I could sign off on it." It says if you sign off and you don't have the correct details of it, you're stuck with that. So, that was me on a Friday. Magically, Sunday came and went, and on Monday morning I went, "Oh, okay, I'll do it." They sent it to me on Tuesday. A month and a half later was when I found out, "Oh no, no. You passed your 30 days. So, this is the normal price." So, I got stiffed for another four grand there.

COVID came into play, but we passed the deadline by another five weeks. When the parts got delivered, they give you five days to tell them if there's anything missing. The way they pack this stuff is so tight. You have to take everything because everything's sandwiched on top of each other. And if you take it out, you expose everything to the elements if there's been a break. Come to find out when I finally finished everything up, four pieces are missing. I called them up and they said, "Oh, well, you pass the five days. So, now we gotta charge you." So, for four pieces of metal that are probably a double size of a toaster oven, they charged me $75 shipping from Colorado to Arizona because I didn't let them know five days when I originally got the piece.

I was pissed off. I went on Reddit, and everybody has the same thing. They give you five days, and then they charge you outright. So, everything that happened to me was exactly everything was for everybody based on the reviews. I've talked to their manager, Cade. The guy is worthless. I got screwed out of $200 for shipping that I had to pay in parts that they didn't put in there. I got screwed $4,000 because their project manager sat on it for a few weeks, and then she couldn't get me the information early enough, and the whole thing, going back and forth with her about pricing.

I had to order a lot of parts outside the company because their pricing was outrageous. The problem with the company is on that initial, their salesperson said, "Oh, yeah. You're gonna get 40x60 building. Yeah, this is it, $22,000." I asked, "Well what about the door?" "No, no. You'll talk about that with the project manager." There was no mention that those things are gonna cost extra. They make it sound like, "This is the price. You just gotta tell the project manager where the door is gonna be."

Too bad they don’t respond to this review.

Armstrong Steel Building with not be delivered without a ransom that was not agreed to in my contract

On 1/8/21 I signed into a contract with Armstrong steel and paid a deposit of $5, 968.00. On 1/20/21 I signed final design paper work with a building total cost with shipping agreement of $35, 000.00.3/18/21 I signed a shipping agreement form not knowing this was to put the building into manufacturing Q, my contract gave me until 7/08/21 to take delivery. On 3/29/21 I received a delivery document to sign and immediately contacted sue to ask what it was all about explaining I would not be ready for the building at the chosen delivery date I believe it was 4/20/21. Kade responded on 3/30/21 that that would not be possible and I would be charged a fee, I replied trying to explain the situation and that I misunderstood Lorelle's direction when filling out the form (however I never put a delivery date on this form) assuming I would let them know when I was ready to schedule my delivery. Kade and I went back and forth a few times and eventually came to an agreement or so I thought, he agreed to see about setting my building aside and not charging me any fees since my contract allowed, no mention of a breach of contract in the final agreement on 3/30/21. 4/07/21 I contacted Sue Witkowski to schedule for my building delivery window (well within my contract time frame). 5/18/21 I received a shipping notice sign and return same day for a delivery window of 7/13/21-7/27/21 dates were chosen by Armstrong steel not myself. On 7/06/21 I received a phone call from Kade Koenig at 1:26pm saying I had a delivery scheduled for 7/20/21 however he could not deliver my building unless I paid an additional ransom of $8, 700.00 on top of the agreed contract of $35, 000.00, he claimed it was a act of god clause written in there terms and conditions. I immediately became suspicious and said I can't do that. After looking at there terms and conditions I signed my contract under I found there was no act of god clause or anything of the sort, so I went to there web sight and low and behold this act of god clause was added to a revised 2/26/21 terms and conditions section 9. I brought the fact that my contract was signed on 1/08/21 to Kade Koenig attention and that the knew terms and conditions would not apply to me via email and his reply was well you broke your contract on 3/30/21 when you refused to sign delivery. I have every email and I in no way refused to sign that form with the exception of my initial questioning of it, in fact I told Kade Koenig multiple times if I was going to be charged I would have no choice but to take delivery and would sign the delivery form, but they had removed the e-sign link immediately when I questioned what was going on and made it impossible for me to sign it. This does not matter as Kade Koenig agreed to hold off with no fees and they were not mentioned in the shipping form I signed on 5/18/21 at all, the agreed due amount on delivery matched exactly to my contract. I have brought all this to Kade Koenig's attention and he basically said none of this matters and you will not receive your building without paying the ransom, and you will not receive a refund of any money. I believe that Armstrong steel is just out to take peoples hard earned money they are misleading, rude and extremely hard to work with, I in no way shape or form intended or wanted to break contract and made that vary apparent in my emails between Kade Koenig, Lorelle Porter and Sue Witkowski.

Desired outcome: Refund of my money and release from the contract they have broken

Armstrong Steel No Customer Service

I ordered the building in March. Trish told me I would have blueprints in 2 weeks and take delivery in 3 months. Well it has been 3 months and I don't even have blueprints. Cannot get a straight answer out of them. They don't return calls or emails. Every time I get through to the office the receptionist tells me everyone is in a meeting and she doesn't know what else to tell me. Won't connect me to anyone else except my project manager Trish who never calls or emails. The receptionist also said that I am not the only one that can't get any response out of Trish.

Desired outcome: Would like a update on my building.

Armstrong Steel Terrible service!

They have very aggressive sales tactics, sometimes not very ethical ones.
All of their representatives get their percents from each sale they make, so they're very interested in selling something to you, even if you don't want it and called them to ask absolutely different questions not related to sales at all. They don't care. They will continue offering you their crap because it's their job.
Talking to them over the phone is like a hell on earth. You better stay away from this company then if you're not sure that you won't have issues with them, they won't let you resolve it because they won't even listen to you...

However, they have changed all plans too often and sometimes they forgot to inform us about these changes. As well as all their changes required the funds and we have exceed our budget for couple of times. We weren’t happy with such work and their decisions. We won’t use their services again.

Armstrong Steel required a large deposit for the garage I ordered. After doors, garage doors, insulation etc were added the price of my garage rose by over 30% and they required another deposit that was larger than the first and was more than 30% of the total cost of the garage. When I finally got the Permit Drawings that were 25 days late, they increased the price of my garage by another 13%, even though we had a binding agreement on the price signed months earlier. The Permit Drawings I received were digitally locked so that my local Planning Department could not conduct their review, the Permit Drawings did not include the Engineering calculations and even though Armstrong said I would not need it, my local Planning Department is requiring additional Engineering plans for the foundation. There were multiple other problems too that are too many to list.
I am requesting a full refund of my deposits and cancellation of my project and would advise any customer to steer clear of this unscrupulous company.

Armstrong Steel Too many problems with this company

I didn’t like that the people from the company www.armstrongsteel.com changed our agreement all the time. It wasn’t great and we weren’t happy that we hired them. The staff wasn’t constant and they changed everything. The dates, the terms and the whole deal. When we tried to tell them that it was unprofessional and not suitable for us, the rep started to speak in rude manner. Beware, because it is too expensive to break the deal with them and stop the agreement as well.

Armstrong Steel They started to change prices, conditions of the agreement

Stay as far as possible from the company www.armstrongsteel.com. You will waste a lot of money, if you decide to deal with them. I started to work with them 9 months ago and we signed the contract. They started to work on the steel building and I paid the deposit in amount of $10, 000. After that the CEO started to call me and asked to pay additional money for the materials and some other things. I was shocked, because all materials and services were already included in the price, which they have told me before. Now, I’m arguing with them and hoping to solve these problems ASAP.

I signed the contract with the guys from www.armstrongsteelbuildings.com. They promised a lot, but they still haven’t provided the drawing of the building. I heard a lot of promises and excuses, but they again and again put my drawing away for later. One day I called them and told to stop everything and return my deposit, but they calmly refused and hung up. I wonder if there are other people, who had the same experience. Can you provide any good piece of advice?

Stay away from these JERKS. This web site ropes you in to thinking you enter your building information and you will get a quote. Not so. They collect your personal information and then have sales people call you at all hours. The truly sad part is they will call you and ask for your building information again. Then they act like there is a big sale going on, so they have to call you back. Basically, they call just to annoy, because they don't even have the quote when they call you. Then on top of this they are just plain RUDE! They called me at my job and wasted my time and were rude because I did not have time to give them all the information that I had already entered on the web site again. I need a building, but based on this experience alone I would never do business with this company.
