Woodforest National Bank poor human resource relations

This bank is a joke if you consider how they treat their associates. During possibly the worst storm of the decade, with almost zero visibility, bank associates were told they had to stay at work... "if walmart is open, so are we". And we all know walmart cares for their employees... Not! Associates were also told that if the roads were expected to be unsafe for travel the next day that they would be expected to stay in the hotel next to their branches to ensure they could open. No consideration for families, or safety of their associates. Unless of course you're the regional manager who stated in front of associates "well, it's starting to snow again, I better get on the road before they get bad and get home to my babies (Dogs) ".

This is not a company I would recommend working for or doing business with. They have shoddy management techniques, leaders who are untrained and have no consideration for the welfare of their employees... No wonder they have such a great relationship with walmart! The regional manager of this area should be fired, as should his direct supervisor.

The manager at the Seneca location has $1600.00 in old $100 dollar bills set aside for himself in the vault. It is counted as "mutilated" money. It has been in there for several months and he just keeps adding to it. The District Manager has been made aware of it but apparently condones the practice.

I recently started business in 2009 . I took a check that I received for work we had done for another business to Woodforest in Peoria, IL, where I have had an account for a year and a half.. The check was for $120, Woodforest deposited and cashed it no problem. I deposited another check for $1350 from the same business about a month or so later. On December 21nd I deposited a check for $4, 635 from the same company. I asked for cash back and wood forest branch said if they took the deposit, they would have to hold it until1/4/2013. Well I told them that was unacceptable. The Teller told me I could come and talk to the branch manager on Saturday morning. I came in on Saturday and the branch manager just regurgitated the same thing the teller said the previous day. She said she would call someone to see if something different could be done and she would call me. So now my contractors will be without money for Christmas, not to mention I could use thee money for expenses. She called me and told me told me if I deposited the check and if it clears, they would remove thee hold. Its the 27the of December and the hold is still in place. I called the bank and the person who wrote the check and they said that the money was available and that my bank can call and verify. The branch manager said she cannot call and verify. The branch manager has been giving me thee run around, basically lying to my face when I visit the branch. The don't care about you as account holder.Woodforest will not go the extra mile for you. When the hold is removed I am going to close my account for sure. I would discourage any business or person doing business as from doing business with Woodforest Bank.

I can also say working for woodforest is a joke. Woodforest treats employees and customers like a number. You know when a VP over call center tells you to lie to customers who call in wanting to know why the deposit isn't showing up because our computers are down you are working for scammers.

Woodforest National Bank fraud

I am currently paying on a over draft account discrepancy and i finally get close to paying it off and they always call me with a new account balance. It's like they haven't been getting th payments that iv'e made. I don't know what is going on, but if there is a company using the TRS Recovery name in associated with Woodforest National Bank calling me for payments and i make them and they don't receive, then someone is stealing my money. I WILL NOT PAY ONE MORE CENT TO WOODFOREST FRAUDULENT BANK. I will be suing.

I purshed a 211.00 money order on 08/23/08 which apparentlywas never cashed. I attempte to trace the MO and the branch manager refused to verify if the mo was cashed or not. I was instructed to return another day to try again to see if the MO cleared. I contacted your offices and was treated no better. Today I received the partial return of the funds of this mo. I was told that I had to pay up front $25.00 to cancel the MO> At the same time I was informed that the $25 was taken out of the refund of the MO as it is normally done. I KNOW THIS BECAUSE I HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH MO RETURNS BEFORE.

The refund I received was not the $211.00 I purchased and requested a return on. It was $186.00. And the hispanic female that took care of the refund and overcharged me the $25.00 up front refused to refund the entire $211.00. I intend to file fraud charges against your bank & this employee that stole this $25.00. SHE STOOD THERE AND OUT-RIGHT LIED THAT SHE HAD RETURNED THE $25.00 DAYS AGO! ANY J___A WOULD KNOW THAT IT DOESN'T TAKE A WEEK OR LONGER FOR MAIL TO BE SENT ACROSS THE STREET! CONSIDER YOURSELF REPORTED TO CONSUMER AFFAIRS AND ANY FEDERAL AGENCY THAT IS FED UP WITH BANKS LIKE YOU THAT VIOLATE CUSTOMERS RIGHTS AND OUTRIGHT STEAL MONEY FROM THEM.

Refused to show you where the money went? I'm sure. Maybe it's because you used your account when there was not any money in the account! Keep track of your own ###, and you won't have an issue!

And the 30 closure.. it's 65 days. Ignoring it is stupid. After 65 days, your account will charge off with the negative balance and be sent to a collections agency. Have fun with that, idiot.

They stole from me as well. They said I owed $500, 00 into overdraft but no worries they said we will just put it in a take charge account, so they did. I payed it off in a year all this time i was paying for my checking and interest. So now i have my free checking back low and behold i suddenly owe another $500.00, ah but this time i was vary careful not to use me debit card at all. I asked them to show me where the money went, they could not, just said its our word against yours you owe it pay it.Well i promptly stopped my direct deposit but my check already hit the bank, they took it all so i contacted my HR people who pulled my check back this really aggravated the bank so they added $300.00 more to what they said i owed. The bottom line is i did not owe the money they know it and i know it so what can i do? Nothing. My Daughter was also hit with the $500.00 theft after they hit us, I have talked with a lot of people that have had the same thing done to them. I talked with our Lawyer about this who said that it is a highly unethical practice that banks use and you cannot do anything about it, I was told to just ignore them and after 30 days they have to close the account.

Having been in the banking industry for over 30 years, consider yourself lucky that a refund was made. Money orders are "guaranteed" funds so technically a "stop payment" order is not availabe. The fee was for the "stop payment order", just like you would be charged "if" the check was your personal check. Plus you assume all liability for the stop payment should the money order actually get to the person you originally made it payabe to. IF you would check with other banks you would find this information to be true. (Old saying, look before you leap) The teller and the Bank did absolutely nothing wrong.

Woodforest National Bank wont cash my checks 2 week hold??

ive never been one for having banking problems like other people that have to use this bank and i feel sorry for those that do. This is the only bank that is open on the weekends in my area so i thought that i would open up a savings account with these guys so that when i got a check on fri. evening i could manage the money. I received a check from one of my money market accounts that i have with vangaurd investments in the amount of $4000.00(on a Fri.) and tried to cash part of it(700$) and put most of it in a savings account with woodforest bank the following Sat. The lady and the counter wouldnt even try to run it she looked at the check and told me there would be a 2 week hold on the check even though my banks (Royal Bank of Canada and BB&T) have always cashed or managed my checks immediately. Im not sure what the deal with woodforest bank is but it sounds to me from what ive gathered that they make money off of people that have no other choice but to bank with them. Looking @ the fees they have and their policies also the numerous complaints i can only say its a money making oper. that rips off the poor making them poorer thus hurting our economy even more. From what I understand even their cards are cheap and noone will take their checks--- so it sounds like a con to me and i feel very sorry for those that have had banking problems in the past that have to bank with these guys if you are thinking about getting an account with these people because of their hours DONT i would give them any of my money for them to make money off of I also will not support an outfit like this and noone else should unless they have no other choice. The only good thing anyone around my area has to say about the bank is that their hours of oper. are convenient. If woodforest would act more like a normal bank (instead of a cash advance service) and provide a better service to their customers they could corner the market with their hours and location in wal-marts worldwide. But they dont so They will never see me bank with them unless i have to.

Woodforest National Bank overdarft Fee/ - account

I was looking at my account that has been fix, the company after i was told that I will not have any problems with my account there is a new odf add to my account that shouldnt be on my account at this time.. I was told by the local office that there was a problem on your. By more than one woodforest worker, told me is was a woodforest error than I was told after checkin sayin that the error wasnt woodforest by a error on uhaul. Will like some to look in to the problem than call me back soon as the problem is found if there is a error on the uhaul I need it in writing of why it is a uhaul error so i can take this to them to get my money back for the error if.. If i cant get it in write why the error was not company error but an a uhaul error than I want someone to tell me it isnt your error. Keep in mind that error was on woodforest when I talked to different reps on the phone and your company gave the credits on the account.. I will like to have the statement emailed to me or mailed to the address that I have on file.. I was told at two different times that the overdarft will be reinstate to the account an i was told that error was on uhaul so with it not being a woodforest error that it wouldnt be added because of the new state or fedral law, I will have my lawer look in to this error.. on the be half of your company someone will give me back my money to fix the fees add to my account.. because this company of uhaul has done this to other people befor so please write the error that was found.

I have only had my account with Woodforest banking for just a few months. Every time I go in to do business, these people are so rude. They act like they don't want my business. This one man talks to me in such a demeaning manner. That's fine. I'm taking my business elsewhere.

To Melvin Jennigs
No one cheated you. In Fact, You should be happy that Woodforest knocked off some of your balance into your charged off account. The way that Woodforest determines overdraft fees now is just different from the way that they used to do it. A long time ago they used to charge $5 a day once you were overdrawn. They have suspended that. Also, The maximum amount that you can receive in fees is you privillege pay amount (overdraft limit). Therefore, if you have a $100 limit then woodforest can only charge you that in one months time. SO no one cheated you, they simply applied the new rule to the past to help you.

I haven't had an account with Woodforest Bank in a couple of years. Yesterday I received a letter from them stating they were "CREDITING my outstanding negative balance on closed account #0781 in the amount of $520.00, which represents the reimbursement of overdraft fees previously incurred and paid by you to the Bank that were determined to be excessive." In other words they sent me a worthless letter saying even though they cheated me, and were responsible for my overdraft problems, I should be happy they moved the money from their left pocket to their right pocket.

Basically their penalty was the cost of postage for the letter.

I have made a copy of the letter and will sending them to my State's Attorney General and my Congressmen.

Woodforest National Bank rude, always having to wait in a line

I just got off work, still in uniform. I needed to get ones for Lunch money for my children which I have six. At 2 dollars a kid 12 dollars a day 60 dollars a week. I wanted a 100 in ones. No big deal right. Well wrong according to Amanda the teller there, told me Since my employer doesnt have an account there she can not give me the ones. Even though this 100 dollars came out of my account by a counter check. She told me they dont order enough money for non account holder to get change.. I have been with Woodforest for about 6 years now, and thought that considered me an account holder? If you ever have to go to the bank also expect to take about 10 mins just to get to the counter. Always a line and only one teller working.. I have only had problems with the one Teller Amanda she is very rude and hateful.

Went to Conroe Woodforest and needed to get a money order, once again I wrote a counter check because my debit card strip was messed up and waiting for a new one. The teller told me she couldnt process my request because my signatures werent a match, I had 2 forms of ID and she still wouldnt give me my money.. What is wrong with this picture.. convicted felons working in a bank and they are worried that my signture wasnt a exact match..

Woodforest National Bank breached contract

Mbf leasing, merchant choice card services and woodforest national bank are clearly scamming america's small business people. Do not sign any agreements with these people. In october of 2009 merchant choice card serivces (Mccs) debited my account twice for the same chargeback. This chargeback was in the thousands of dollars. They breached there own contract and now want to collect on it. Mccs and all other refused to return the monies immediately as required by law. It took weeks to get my own businesses monies back into the account. This was after payroll bounced, check bounced etc. These scam artist never once notified that they were taking a second chargeback on the same transaction. I belive they have again changed there name from mccs to something new. Bbb rating is an "f' on this company. Where is consumer protection when you have to personally guarantee this lease? Do not, do not do business with these people! You will get screwed oneway or another.

Woodforest National Bank this should be against the law.

I had opted in to the overdraft protection program with woodforest national bank. When I agreed to this program, no one ever explanned or even mentioned that they had hidden fees or any other fees except the one fee of $34.00 everytime the bank has to pay any funds out toward any purchase that your account does not have the funds to cover. It was never said that after eight days of your account having a negative balance the account will be charge an extra$35.00 on the eighth day if you can not get your account out of that negative balance. Woodforest national back has already had to repay several people money back for illegal tractions made by the back before and now this isnt right. How do this bank expect for a person to get out of the negative balance when their steady charging you fees they fail to tell you about when they offer you the service. I also use this bank for their direct deposit services and to also pay my personal bills. I have found that this bank will wait til the company that you have to pay draft their money out but the bank will hold it for days before releasing the money leaving you to think that the bill is already, but in reality its not therefore you spending money that you think you have, but you really dont. Resulting in a overdraft transaction as well as an overdraft fee in which if your pay date is not until eight days you will be charge the fee of the bill, the overdraft fee of $34.00, plus another 35.00. Which puts you even futher in debt. These type of practices should not be legal and in the case of woodforest bank, it may not be legal.

I placed an order online at QVC, and cancelled the order the next day. Because the purchase price was $1596.68, they have to get a written release from the company that you cancelled with. I understand that. However, I placed the order on the 24th of Jan 2012 and cancelled on the 25th of Jan 2012. It is now February 16th 2012 and Woodforest is saying that they are not getting the faxes from QVC. I have had QVC send off 5 faxes to release the funds. (which QVC doesn't have, Woodforest is just holding the transaction) So here I am setting here 4 weeks after a cancelled order, waiting for my money. I am fed up and pissed. I asked Woodforest if I just closed out my account, can I have my money then, they told me that I had to wait. Nice right? DONT BANK WITH WOODFOREST. I had the same problem with my account being in the negative due to this, and they charged me many times. MANY. If this doesn't get settled, I have been advised to hire an attorney, and sue them. I hate them. And I don't normally say things like that.

Woodforest National Bank everything!

I have been a customer with Woodforest National Bank for quite a few years now and am so upset with them in the past few months. The 5.95 is insane and to tell me that they have to do it the US Government is making them is a lie. I have opened a new account with my old bank which is amazing and I have spoken to the branch manager. This 5.95 fee is untrue and will not happen with them. Everytime I go in there they are trying to get me to open another account. I already have 2 supposedly free checking accounts with them that I am now paying 5.95 a month for each. Also everytime I go in something is down or doesn't work. The staff is moody and shares way too much info with customers. I don't care what customer you are having an affair with! I use to love this bank but now I see their true colors. I am closing my accounts within this next week.

Woodforest employees do lie to customers per instructions from their supervisors. Woodforest has been fined twice by regulators for misrepresenting products and had to change the name of their merchant services because they were being sued by gucci for opening fruadulant accounts. In the call center for example, employees are instructed by management not to admit fault when our computers go down causing debit cards not to work and/or deposits not to post. These common computer issues causes all kinds of errors on customers accounts such as incorrect balances. Just recently an article was written in a conroe newspaper on how a woodforest computer glitch caused customers account not to show correct balances causing customers to over draft their accounts.

I do the online statement and was completely surprised that Woodforest, with a balance over $3500 is still charging me $5.95 a month fee. Woodforest publishes a list of their fees online in PDF format, and surprise, there is no amount for both consumer nor business accounts in the amount of $5.95.

So how can a bank charge a fee that isn't even on their published rate fees? As of 10/07/2010, there is no fee published on Woodforest's fee schedule in the amount of $5.95.

What's more, don't they make money on my deposits, so why charge me to make money from me? Seriously, that would be like me charging my employees to work for me because I make money off their work. Woodforest, wake-up, these are modern times and with so many banks trying to find ways to make money from deposits, the best way is not to bleed it out of customer accounts.

Woodforest National Bank go elsewhere if you can...

I've banked with Woodforest for over ten years...I'm not on a second chance checking, but Woodforest Bank was one of the few banks in my area and it was just very convenient with the 24 hour locations. Also, my parents banked with Woodforest, helped me open an account when I was just 16 and I'd basically kept the same account the entire time (although I changed it once I was over 18, etc.)
Anyways, they seem to think they can just charge fees onto your account without authorization. When they began offering free checking many years ago, I signed up and had been using it ever since. I keep the majority of my money in my savings account (linked to the Woodforest account also) and was surprised to find a $5.95 "service fee" that resulted in a $34 overdraft fee as this was a transaction I was not expecting. I'm very precise with my ledger. I'd overdrafted by less than $1. I'd never even overdrafted my account before this!
I called and after speaking to several people as a "courtesy" got the branch manager to refund the overdraft fee. I don't see how they can just start charging fees without the customer's authorization. They'd changed their "free" checking to have stipulations that you must have at least a $100 balance in your account AND you must have direct deposit.
The branch manager went on to tell me that they put a note at the bottom of the bank statements in April and May to notify customers of this change. Too bad I opted out of receiving monthly statements because I do everything online. I don't understand why they couldn't email me, post something on the site, or even post a sign in the branch locations to inform customers of this change. It was very sneaky!
I am definitely considering switching banks after this fiasco. I do not feel comfortable having to worry that the bank is going to take out another fee whenever they feel like it.

I recently had to get a new debit card two weeks before Christmas. Someone had stolen my card information and tried to get money out of my account. I would say that I'm happy that they called and caught it but the only problem is that this was the second time in six months that this happened. The bank assured me that this happens all the time and there is no way to trace how it happened. I planned to change banks once I had a few bills to clear and after the holidays. Fast forward to today. I attempt to put gas in my card and discover once again my card has a block on it for suspicious activity AGAIN! This time less than six weeks. I'm told that they cannot trace the cause again and that they do not investigate it either. Are you kidding me?! I work realy hard for every dime of my money and now I have no access to it. This time I didn't even get an heads up call. Don't worry. I will be closing my acct in the morning. I will tell everyone I know how horrible the security is at Woodforest. Remember that word of mouth is the best and worse form of advertising. I will make sure I tell my horror story on every website, comment card, and review board I come across. I believe this is an inside job and this is the really reason Woodforest refuses to investigate.

woodforest charged me $2.00 each time i deposit to my free savings account. i was also told they had branches everywhere, including new york city where my mother lives and i visit frequently. guess what? no branches for 68 miles! wow! also, i was told there were branches open 24 hours in indianapolis, there are none! i have een through the online yellowpages and called a few dozen branches, and i cant find ANY 24 hour location at all. even the 877 customer service line isnt truly 24 hours, exept a recording that says it is after business hours. 24 hour banking? what a joke! these guys are scam artists!

Well, same here.

These people are total scam artists and my experience is identical to yours. The claim that you have $100.00 in your account and direct deposit is not true as I heard from friends.I decided to test them myself August 2010 and DID have over $100 in my account and do receive S.S. and S.S.I. direct deposited and was still charged the $ 5.95 "service fee" so that is a flat out lie.The credit/debit cards are the cheapest I have ever seen and have to be reswiped numerous times just to get them to work.A prepaid Greendot debit card is twice or more the thickness of Woodforest and will last years.I was concerned about how lame their cards were and kept it isolated from my other items as to protect it from damage.I knew something was afoul when the cashiers at Wal-Mart would frown when you pulled out a Woodforest card and the bank is in their store! I asked Woodforest for a replacement and they said sure but I would have to pay another 12.95 for a new card when my old one was barely over 6 months old! I think Stealth pilot is a plant from Woodforest because he seems to defend them above and beyond the truth.NO, I got no notification of the pending of the $5.95 service fee by mail and it was not mentioned in my daily account e-mail but was in my monthly E-statement after the fact. The only advantage Woodforest had was their now bogus free checking and if you received S.S. and or S.S.I. your checks would be direct deposited and you got them one day earlier avoiding the crowds of the next day.I called every bank in town and no other bank charges this fee and Woodforest money orders are twice the price of any place in town.I know this much you will be sorry you opened an account with them because in the end you only come out a few dollars ahead in which is not worth the extra stress.I have not had my account even a year yet and none of the employee's who were there when I opened my account are still there, in fact their employee turnover rate is so high I assume they must treat their employee's as bad as their customers.I think they should chane their name to Woodforestgump Bank because you would be an idiot to bank with me but don't take my word for it, give it a try, because Woodforest accounts are being closed out in great numbers in our local Wal-Mart, me included.

Woodforest bank overdraft fees are rediculous!! Designed specifically to keep u in debt with them while they get filthy rich off of you. The continuous fees should be illegal.

Woodforest National Bank not that bad

We bank at woodforest in high point, nc. I have not had a bad experience with them and wonder if these problems i've read about are specific to certain branches that might not be well-run due to branch managers.

I found this site yesterday after we accidentally overdrew our account. My husband and I both put exactly $15.00 worth of gas in our car on two different days - neither of us knew the other had made the purchase on our debit card. I keep track of our account, so when I saw that the $15.00 charge had gone through, I assumed everything had cleared our account. For some reason, when you buy gas and pay at the pump, it doesn't even show up in your pending transactions for several days sometimes.

I called the bank and asked for a courtesy refund of the overdraft fee ($34.00, which is comparable and in some cases lower than other banks). Since the account is only in my husband's name, the teller couldn't discuss the account with me, but said that it shouldn't be a problem since we have not had a previous overdraft. Another problem I had was that I had made a $3.00 purchase on the card before we realized that we had overdrawn the account which was still pending - since my husband was going that afternoon to make a deposit, I was still worried that, even if the first overdraft fee was refunded, the bank would post my $3.00 purchase before posting my husband's deposit and still charge another overdraft fee.

When my husband went to the bank yesterday afternoon, he made his deposit and then spoke with the teller. She did refund the overdraft fee and I checked our account this morning, and his deposit had been posted first - so we were not charged the additional fee for the $3.00 purchase that they legally could have charged us.

The lesson to be learned is that if I had been keeping a written register of our debits and credits, this would not have happened. Anyone who can count can manage a checking account, no matter where they bank. The fact that we can check our accounts online now makes us lazy, I think, and we don't keep the records we should.

The reason i'm taking the time to write this is for other people who might be reading this for the same reason I did yesterday - I was worried that woodforest was going to gouge us with fees - that they would purposely post things in a certain order to where we would have to pay out more money, and that was not my experience. So if that's your fear, hopefully this will put your mind at ease.

Also, we bank at woodforest for the same reason a lot of other people do - we need the second-chance checking. Both my husband and I had previous accounts that we overdrew because we did not manage our money properly. If it weren't for woodforest, we would not have a checking account until we get some bills paid off. Now that we are trying to be more responsible, paying off debts and getting our credit straight, it's nice to be able to have an account at all.

Thank you for your post. All I kept reading were negative comments about Woodforest Bank, but none of the banks that the complaints were filed on are located in my state.

I'm considering opening an account at Woodforest, because I also need the Second-Chance Checking account that they offer. I have made some mistakes in the past with other banks, and now that I'm in Chexsystems, it's very difficult for me to get a checking account.

Again, I appreciate your post. You have reassured me that Woodforest Bank is not so bad afterall. :)

Woodforest National Bank - Who gets the money of the deceased

I have a small problem with this bank that has escalated into a fine little argument. My daughter was deceased as of Dec15 and little did i know that her friend was on the acct. First they told me that there was a second name on the acct, later i went back and they say beneficiary. My question to this problem is who gets the money in the checking acct, me...

Woodforest National Bank avoid!

I haven't had a checking account with Woodforest National Bank for long but every time I make a deposit in person it is a horrendous experience! I bank at the Woodforest National Bank at the Walmart in Perrysburg Ohio. I have switched banks and am in the process of transferring all my auto pays to my new bank! One time they refused to let me deposit a personal check my husband wrote me. They told me I would have to bring him, with his ID to the bank or I could not deposit the check!(HUH?) One time I withdrew money from my 401K, the check was issued by Merril Lynch, and they put a 10 day hold on it, even though it was no more than my monthly direct deposit (HUH?) One time I deposited a check from Merril Lynch and on the back you sign on one end if it is a loan and the other if it is a withdrawal. They forced me to sign on the LOAN end of the check even though I had signed the other end (again this was a withdrawal from my 401k). (HUH?) I scribbled "not a loan" over the loan agreement and signed it - but these people are just clueless. And they are unfriendly, downright MEAN spirited. They know they are being difficult and they enjoy it, even though they have no clue what idiots they are. I was so nice to get this off my chest. I am not a "second chance" person...I don't have difficulty with money in any way. You will pay through the nose for using ATMs other Woodforest and they tack on "foreign" fees if you use your ATM card out of the country. Avoid these people.

I have been with Woodforest Bank in Tega
Cay, SC for two years. They are an excellent bank! I have had two replacement debit cards and I never had to wait more than five days to receive. When cashing out of state
checks never had a ten day hold. I am not a second chance customer and have nothing but amazing things to say about this bank and their customer service.

I agree they are not a good Bank. They waited and waited to release money from our account and now were over 300.00 over drawn. were on a very fixed income and there is no way we can pay that all back at once. I do not know what were gonna do. Pay them or not pay rent. Now payments would not be a problem

Woodforest National Bank - stealing money / overdraft

Several months ago I opened an account with Woodforest Bank in Walmart to cash stimulus check. Now, three months later, they have taken over $700.00 out of my account for unknown fees. Woodforest National Bank refused service - treated like criminal

I have been an account-holder with WoodForest Bank for almost 6 years. Over the last 5 years, my company has direct deposited from their payroll account into my account every 2 weeks like clockwork. However, when I went in to deposit 2 checks, both from my company and both from the same payroll account, I was asked a battery of questions about the source of the checks, the validity of the checks, etc. I answered each one, even though there was no reason for questioning. Additionally, the manager on duty was called over to ‘verify’ the checks before the deposit could be made.

I’ve never presented a check for deposit that was bad, and I’ve never asked the bank to assume responsibility for my checks by making funds available to me immediately. If they feel there is a question with the checks, they are well within their rights to hold the deposit until they get paid funds from the guarantor of that check.

I was allowed to make the deposit, but not without being questioned publicly about the validity of the checks. I was insulted to say the least. If I had dropped the checks in an envelope and deposited them through the ATM, would it ask me such questions?

Today marked the pinnacle of bad customer service. I presented a cashier’s check made out to my son, and the teller would not let me make the deposit. There is MORE than enough money in my account to cover the check in the event that it came back NSF, but that was deemed irrelevant. The only way I would be allowed to deposit the check is to have my son present, with his ID, “SO THE HE CAN VERIFY THAT HE ENDORSED THE CHECK OVER TO YOU.” Those were the exact words used by the teller!

I’ve had some bad customer service, but to be called a thief tops the list.

First of all, I’ve presented personal, hand-written checks for my son on numerous occasions and was allowed to cash them on the spot. This was a CASHIER’S CHECK for less than 10% of the amount that I currently have on deposit with the bank. I did not ask for the check to be cashed but to be deposited. Again, if they feel that there may be a problem with the check, they are well within their rights to hold the check until payment has been received. However, rather than deposit the check and hold the funds until it cleared, Woodforest chose to call me a thief and refuse me service until I bring my son to verify that I’m not a common criminal.

Come along son... Tell the nice lady that I'm not a thief.

REALLY?!
