I accidentally swiped the wrong atm card. I have one with WoodForest and one with my other nack and they are both green and look almost exactly alike. I didnt have enough money to cover the transaction and they approved it anyway causing me to over draft (I did have enough in the other account which waas what card I thought I was swiping, I ususally only use my Woodforest account to buy things online so I dont keep alot in it I just deposit more when I need to.) So anyway, that was a 35.00 overdraft fee, and I got the notice about that, but I had to go out of town and was being charged 5.00 per day fee (unknown to me) I get a call from someone asking me if I can pay the 300.00 balance several and when I called the bank to talk about it, they will not close the account it just keeps accruing fees daily and if I make a deposit today of half the amount, it is still going to keep adding 5.00 a day. They have a "payment plan" once your account hits a certain amount to pay back these crazy fees and until your account hits about 350.00 they will keep adding on the fees and telling you in 60 days it will be written off and go to collections. So instead of letting you cancel your account and try to get ahead and pay them back, they keep laying it yo ya! You guys are making letting it be written if look like a good option! You have dirty tactics and after reading complaint after complaint against you, I say screw every one of you people and I have printed up several hundered complaints I read online and think your other customers should beware, hmmm...think I will be spending more time at Walmart real soon.

Sorry, but this is your fault, not theirs. And, some merchants can take up to two weeks.

They charge extra charges to account. If you tries to give them the over charge balance anbd they refuse to take it without you giving them $200.00 more than you owe them. The balance was only $-1.97, but they want to charge you more than the $29.00 over charge fee. I will not be harass by them or give them more than they desired.

We were thinking of switching over to Woodforest since the service we're getting from Chase (aka rolling over our checking/savings accounts from WaMu) is terrible.

You raise valid complaints about the problems of using debit cards. When do they move out of "pending" status and end up in completed transaction.

This is important to my husband and myself because we're retired, living on a fixed income, and once in a while, out auto-deposits from our pensions and Social Security fall on a weekend. They show up as pending but aren't actually posted until the next "business" day.

Fortunately, I track our online account(s) daily and if something looks like it might not clear without our auto-deposits, I transfer $$ from our savings.

However, this is no longer a good option because Chase is making so many mistakes after the roll-over of WaMu checking/savings accounts during the weekend of July 24-26 that it's ridiculous.

(See my soon-to-be complaint about this fiasco...)

So...does anyone have a story of a GOOD bank to use in Texas? We were really hoping that Woodforest Natl Bank might be one of the good guys?

I've also had problems with overdraft fees from this bank. When I use my debit card, I expect the transactions to post within 1- 2 days in the order that they occur. I generally ensure that I have money to cover the expenses at the time they occur. Woodforest has an "unspoken" policy of holding debit card transactions 5-7 days and then REARRANGING the order in which they post them, all in an attempt to cause the account to overdraw/increase their NSF revenues. I called to complain to customer service because I have a transaction currently pending which has been pending 1 day short of a week! They told me that "it wasnt their fault - the merchants are taking 5 - 7 days to collect on the transactions".
You meant to tell me that EVERY SINGLE MERCHANT (since I've been a member of this bank) is waiting 5 - 7 days to collect their funds? I DONT THINK SO!
