I recently purchase a GE washing machine and dryer from HHGregg with an extended warranty. It was Model # WHRE5550KWW which has an infusor not a full agitator. The clothes do not become clean. One hundred percent of the time the same dirt on the clothes remains after washing. The water does not fill over 1/3 the way with water, so the clothes just get wet and rub up against each other. I was instructed by the HHGregg who I first reported the problem to on 01/20/2010. HHGregg instructed me to call for repair which I have done and they determined that it was a defect. Then I call the manufacture (GE) and was told they had to have another technician to come out. Now it is two month into solving this issue, another technician came out and did find problems with the machine. I got on the phone with GE customer relation and they said they can have it repaired but it had to be repaired in my home. I asked can I swap for a different type machine of lesser or a little more in value that is basic. They rejected the idea and told me that the only thing they can do is to repair the new machine and be stuck with the results of unclean clothes and have been terribly inconvenienced with no resolution at this point except to buy another washer which they offered for discount for $337.00.
HHGregg stated they could not help me and GE stated they could only repair this inferior product.

I have all the exact same problems with my WHRE5550KKW washer bought at Home Depot in July 2010. I have called GE many times to get these issues resolved. They just send a repairman out to fix it. Then which the repairman told me that it is a piece of crap and that if it were his washing machine he would not be happy with it either and I need to keep calling GE and filing complaints until something gets done. What I cant do is be without a washing machine any longer.. I have a 1 1/2 year old child that needs CLEAN CLOTHES. PEOPLE! DO NOT BUY THESE WASHERS. I've had repairmen come out numerous times and the problem is never solved! BUY AN OLD SCHOOL WASHER THESE THINGS ARE PIECES OF CRAP! - on a side note. the dryer does work well... at least GE got one thing right..

GE refused to do anything about my GE WHRE5550KWW last year, but I had bought it at Home Depot, and they were great! They took it back with no questions, NO restocking fee and they gave me a full refund. I bought a Matag (from Home Depot of course) and it's works fine. The way to pressure GE is to get a big retailer like Home Depot to discontinue the item. GE may not have been willing to take it back when I asked them to, but when Home Depot sent it back they probably took it without question and said "thank you."

I have the same model and it is a terrible piece of machinery. It goes out of balance and dances across the floor no matter how carefully loaded. It seems to be missing a damper assembly to keep it from rocking so violently from side to side. I have rigged a spring assembly to the motor brace to frame connection that has offered some relief but this is horrible. I feel cursed with this piece of !*//!. I often wonder if factory parts were left off but can find no parts diagrams.

The reason the clothes don't get clean is because for the first one-third of the wash cycle half the clothes don't even get wet. The YouTube videos that GE put out are a sham! They show about one-third as many clothes in the washer as GE recommends.

I've had my GE WHRE5550KWW washer less than a week. I called GE to complain. They said they will NOT replace it with another model, nor will they take it back. The only thing they offered was to have a service technician come out and make sure it's working as designed. But it's the flawed design that's the problem!

They claim the GE WHRE5550KWW washer is "4.1 cu. ft. colossal capacity", but that's only if you fill it according to the GE's directions. Then it doesn't clean the clothes! The only thing that works is to use the super capacity setting and then put in a very, very small wash load, and that doesn't do a very good job cleaning the clothes either.

The rinse cycle doesn't get the soap out, so they put an option for a 2nd rinse cycle. Then they tell you (in the owners manual after you buy it) that, if you use the double rinse setting, it's not energy efficient. Well it's certainly NOT energy efficient to only be able to put 1/3rd as many clothes in it and run it 3 times as often, because you'll use 3 times as much water and 3 times as much electricity when you do.

This may be the worst product GE has made since the refrigerator that GE had to replace in a class action law suit a couple of years ago. No wait! - This one is worse, because at least the refrigerator actually worked. It kept food cold. This washer is just DOES NOT clean clothes.

We can only hope that some bright attorney starts a class action law suit against GE to replace these WHRE5550KWW washers with another model that actually works. Legal action seems to be the only thing that motivates GE.

I'm surprised that there aren't a lot more bad reviews on this product. And I'm pretty sure that the good reviews are put there by GE. I see that some of the comments on this page have neglected to change the default 5-star rating to one-star. It actually says "rate this page". It probably should say "rate this product".

Someone please get a class action suit going against GE for this! If you do I'm in. Short of that let's boycott all GE appliances, and try to avoid other GE products and services until they begin to take responsibility for their actions.

They've really screwed up on the GE WHRE5550KWW washer and they should either voluntarily make it right, or be forced to by the court.

I agree 100%. I have the same issue with the clothing not getting cleaned. I had the tech two times and was told the machine worked properly and there was nothing he could do about it. I can only use the heavy wash cycle as this is the only cycle which will wash my clothes half way decent. I also have to put less clothing in than is allowed due to the poor washing results. The machine is now tearing tee shirts and light weight jeans and dress shirts. I have looked up this problem on the web and find many complaining about the same thing to which GE does not wish to resolve. I will never buy another GE product. I am forced to purchase another machine even though I only got this one a year ago March.
GE's reliability and service has sure deteriorated over the past few years. I think I will go back to Sears products as they have always stood behind their good name. Unfortunately, GE no longer does.

Stay on their behinds it costs GE $200 a pop to send a tech to your house I had them send one every week and continued to show the techs my dirt clothes with a white film on them for about 8 weeks that's $1600 dollars out of their pocket already they finally caved and are exchanging my washer to a washer with an agitator. Stay away from the infuser it does not work!
