Whirlpool ice maker doesn't work/freezer doesnt' freeze

On 2/25/13 we purchased a Gold Series French door refrigerator with an ice maker and freezer at the bottom at the cost of $1850.00 from H.H. Gregg in Joliet, Illinois. Model Number WRG989SDAMOO/Serial Number K23109890. March or April of 2014 the ice maker was leaking and stopped producing ice, the freezer would not freeze and water was leaking inside the fridge. We called HH Gregg and a repairman came and fixed it. While he was there he commented he was surprised that the fridge just wasn't replaced because the repair fees were almost as much as the fridge itself. Ever since the repair the fridge runs loud. Thankfully it was still under warranty.
Unfortunately we did not purchase a second warranty and now July 2015 the same exact issue has arisen. Again, no ice, leaking and freezer not freezing. We have purchased more than just this Whirlpool product over the past 2 years we have also purchased a washer, dryer, dishwasher, range and plus this fridge from you as well.
Checking on consumer reports there have been many reports of malfunctions of this Gold Series fridge. I entered a review on consumer reports today and soon I plan on notifying all our Facebook friends and next step the Better Business Bureau.
We are not happy. This is not what we expected from your products. People work hard for their money and for the food they purchase. You should stand by your product without the public having to pay huge warranty fees because it malfunctions. We have children, grandchildren and friends who will be purchasing these sorts of products in the future and I would have liked to tell them that Whirlpool puts out great products that they stand by. I am in the healthcare business and breakdowns in equipment are reported to the FDA and the providers replace them and if something harms a patient they are liable. This is not as serious as that, but your company should take pride in integrity and doing right by your customers. In this economy it is only right.
Is there anything that can be done to rectify this situation short of expensive repairs? Please contact me to discuss this matter. Thanks for listening.

Whirlpool numerous problems

Purchased this Whirlpool French Door in Fall of 2009. For 2 years the drain hose leaked but ran under the kitchen floor and we did not realize we had a problem til the wood towards the front of the fridge under the linoleum buckled. We had to rip out the entire floor. At this time we looked under the fridge and saw the hose did not actually go to the pan because the drain pan was broken in pieces in a housing and obviously was like that when we had it installed. Whirlpool would do nothing, warranty had run out so expense on us. We then proceeded to put the fridge up on wood blocks so I could put 3 cookie sheets under it to catch the water when it would self defrost. This worked for about a year. Over the last 2 years the fridge part does not maintain temperature and the freezer gets a large ice build up that I have to take a blow dryer to. The drain plug, hose, etc. keeps icing over and/or the compressor is starting to fail. I contacted whirlpool since this thing is only 6 years old and they have not responded.
When I went online I see that my complaints on the FrenchDoor style is common and other people have had the same issues. There have not been any recalls on this that I can find. The whole reason I purchased this unit was because I replaced a 22 year old Whirlpool Gold Side by Side that never gave me an ounce of trouble and thought they made good stuff. Maybe they did in 1987 but not in 2009. They will never my business again.

Whirlpool seller keeps silence

We have ordered refrigerator from the company www.whirlpoolindia.com. I was so pleased that I have found good refrigerator and waited for the news from the seller. He told me that the refrigerator has been sent and after some time, he told me that my order was cancelled. I don’t really understand him and wanted to change or cancel the deal, but the seller kept silence.

Whirlpool hot water heater complaint (gas)

The gas hot water heater does not want to light at all. This situation has been occurring every 2-3 months. After calling the company, the company advised to call a licensure plummer. The labor for the plummer is $200 which is ridiculous. The gas hot water heater was purchased in 2011 and is still under a 6 year warranty. I'm not understanding why keep replacing the part when it continues to fail. The company is not honoring the warranty at all. Something needs to be done about this situation.

Whirlpool roach infestation

This morning we had a washer/dryer dropped off at 11:00AM. They knocked the door into the wall and left a hole from the door knob while they were setting up. Not a big deal. After install, we left for a while. Came back to do first load of laundry and literally watched the roaches swarm out of the units as soon as it was turned on to start the wash cycle. Of course the store is closed now and tomorrow they are not open. ...Ran and bought Roach spray and have almost gone through the entire spray can already. We are beside ourselves with disgust! NEVER AGAIN!

Whirlpool product failure

I have a whirlpool refrigerator (model #gb2fhdxws07) that was purchased on 12/31/2012 for $1300. The compressor on the refrigerator failed on 3/17/15. I called whirlpool customer service and was offered an extended warranty to fix anything that was wrong with the refrigerator for $330. A repair person was sent out the next day and was told Whirlpool would not cover this problem and would refund me my money for the extended warranty. This is not an acceptable response for a major company like Whirlpool. Would you throw out an appliance that was too expensive to repair because the company that made it cannot guarantee it will function after one year? Well I had to. I have now purchased another refrigerator for $1600. Not only did my refrigerator fail, but my Whirlpool oven (model #wfg540h0as0), purchased a week after the refrigerator, now needs to be repaired because the gas oven fails to light. When I told the local appliance store of this problem, they said this is common on this model. This was the second oven I received because the back control panel on the first one blew up in my face after I plugged it in the first time. I know this will probably go to a secretary that will file this email in their recycle bin, to never to let any management personal see it, but I should try to get a more acceptable response. A large company, like yourselves should be accountable and help consumers when they have a product that fails and has a manufacturer defect on something so new. This should be an embarrassment on your part for all the failed Whirlpool products I own. I contacted the Better Business Bureau about this matter, and was basically told by Jake Houser (Executive Staff, Whirlpool), too bad, so sad. I think if there was a picture he could of sent it would have been him holding his two middle fingers to me. I noticed you are a part of most of the social media websites, so I will be posting to them, and my own, that Whirlpool is a company not to be trusted, or dealt with and does not stand behind their products and services… I will post that in the most respectable and politically correct way possible. And I will tell friends and family to look elsewhere for their appliance needs.

Whirlpool inferior quality

I purchased a brand new Whirlpool front load washer and dryer from Home Depot in late April 2013. It is less than two years oLD and already has had to have two service calls on it. The first time there was an issue with adequate water temperature. This time I got several errors. When the repair technician arrived today he diagnosed my pump is gone and wants $350 to replace. What choice do I have? . I use this machine less than 2 times per week and it is less than 2 years old. My old Kenmore set was 14 years old and had one minor service call in all those years for a broken swtich on the lid. Two service calls in less than two years just shows the type of inferior crap that these companies are making and selling. When i called Whirlpool to complain I was told that i should have bought the extended warranty. Fantastic customer service. Will never EVER buy another product from this company again! If I were you i wouldn"t either.

Whirlpool Selling junk for appliances

his model refrigerator has been a nightmare from the first water filter exchange on.
Whirlpool French Door Refigerator Mod # WRF989SDAM00, Serial # K24911451
Install Date 05/21/2013, purchase price $1975.00

Resolution needed: Exchange of this piece for another one with similar features with better performance rating.

1. After initial great performance of the refrigerator mentioned above, time for the first water filter exchange came about. Immediately after installing new filter, water leakage was noticed out of water filter case. I thought it was a faulty filter and exchanged the filter just to find out that it was not the filter but the refrigerator's issue. This was the first time I called for warranty issues and a technician was sent out to fix the problem. First he did not show up on the day given, and then on second appointment date he came just to check out problem and to say that parts had to be ordered and another day for installation of part(s) had to be done. He also mentioned that this model was known for leakage from water supply line, so might as well exchange that before I would experience problems. Since it is a huge piece of equipment, he left an indentation on the side of fridge from a piece of equipment he use to move around the fridge.
Third appointment another technician of the same company was sent out to do the repairs, entered my house and said right away: "You may want to purchase extended warranty because this model is a mess!" Great! But at that point I hoped for the issue to be solved. So I did purchase the extended warranty.

2. At the end of the year of warranty the fridge came with, the second water filter exchange approached. Water filter was exchanged, and voila, it had the same issue with water leakage, with the exception that this time the water was coming out from the lights that are adjacent to the water filter case. Another service call was made, another assessment was done, and another date for second appointment for installation was necessary. At this point I had to stay home for 5 afternoons already!
At this time I purchased the extended warranty, as a pattern was building.

3. The third water filter exchange brought on the same issue again, and another service call was called in. Another appointment was set, and the technician called it off on that day. Another appointment was set, and by then my refrigerator had shown another problem. I noticed that the bread and ice creams in the bottom freezer had been melting and spongy. So when the technician came, I mentioned that to him and without looking at the freezer in depth he immediately knew the problem's origination, as he said that this is a big problem with this model! The aggregate is broken. Yet the Whirlpool service department made him go through a lengthy diagnostic process. At this point it was clear that the refrigerator not only needed yet another repair to the water filter casing or whatever else in involved, but also a new freezer aggregate. I had to haul away all my food to my friend's house, and two weeks later now the technician has yet to receive the parts to do repair. What is worse is that lately the ice maker is dripping as well. I am at a breaking point now where I just am frustrated to no end, and have wasted six afternoons of my time, and a seventh one to come - that is if the parts ever do come in. The time that I spend/spent waiting and dealing with the seemingly friendly yet annoying customer service department's procedures and the type of low-end technicians they sent appear to have no end given the history of this fridge.

It has been now over a month dealing with Whirlpool and their Extended Service Plan company Assurant Solutions (in my case one of their offspring Federal Warranty Service Corp). The parts have yet to arrive, according to the service technician and the service plan people just told me last week that parts had not been ordered the whole time. Whirlpool just refers to the extended warranty plan and washes their hands clean of literally scamming customers out of $2000 selling pieces of garbage without repercussions. Incredible!

Whirlpool needs to stand behind this mess of a refrigerator and exchange this piece of garbage for one that works. I purchased a new expensive refrigerator in order to avoid exactly this headache and hassle with the appliance that came with the house we had just purchased. This is by far the worst experience ever I have ever had with any of my appliances and makes me to never want to purchase another Whirlpool product again!

Agreed. Never had so many issues with any appliance EVER. There is always water dripping from the top of my fridge into my food on the shelves. Also drips down into the side compartments on the fridge door, so that every time the door is opened, the floor is soaked with a stream of water. Also had the freezer component fail ~ so tech did something "unorthodox" to fix the situation, and he "hopes it will work". I am beyond disgusted. Have had the ice maker component replaced twice already. Every repair tech that comes into our home, tells me about all of the problems with this fridge, and that they do not know why Whirlpool continued to sell the model when the issues were well known early on. It's a terrible design and has left me with a very uneasy feeling about ever purchasing a Whirlpool appliance again.

Whirlpool whirlpool's dishwasher burned

Whirlpool's unacceptable customer service!

Dear whirlpool management,

Less than one year ago, we bought a whirlpool dishwasher,
Type adp 4411 from khoury home, lebanon's leading retailer of household products. From the begining, we were not really happy with the performance of the machine, which we felt was not cleaning as well as it should.
But the nightmare for us came, when ten months later, we came home to an electricity burning smell and smoke from our whirlpool dishwasher, which had been off. Thankfully, our electric security system in our new apartment worked very well and shut off, so that our apartment didn't catch fire.
It was a shock, but knowing that our machine was still under warranty, we contacted whirlpool to let them know what happened. The bigger shock came when the company told us that the electric board is burnt "probably because of high voltage when the electricity came too strong one time" and that we have to pay for a new board $190 because such cases are not covered by the warranty! A whirlpool manager said because the electricity in lebanon is "unstable," we should have unplugged the dishwasher whenever it was not in use - but it's not really logic - the same thing can happen while it is in use! (And of course nobody told us about it when it was installed)!
We, like other normal people, do not unplug our appliances when they are not in use, and we are using in our kitchen a lot of other electronic appliances without any problems.
The fact that whirlpool is blaming us for a fire that could have had much more dangerous consequences is absolutely unacceptable. Unfortunately too late, we have read at the internet a lot of customer comments with these kinds of problems with whirlpool dishwashers too.
At last we got a $20 discount (!) for the new board but on the service letter they wrote just that it had "smell problems." nothing about burning!
A burning dishwasher should be for whirlpool company a much more serious theme! The way it was handled is not a customer service, not an international service for a big company like whirlpool and especially really not the customer service of a u. S. Company!

Whirlpool duet steam washer

I bought an expensive whirlpool duet steam washer four years and four months ago. It comes with only a one year warranty. One day it stops working mid load, locking the door so it can't be opened to retrieve clothes, and says error "F28." The price quoted to repair this machine was at least $500. The part itself was $299 (the spin board), plus labor, plus service call. On top of that, once that work was done there was no guarantee it would be fixed, because the error could be attributed to the "top" computer board, but no way to know until you try to fix the spin board. Whirlpool offered no help whatsoever, not even a small discount on the $300 part required, nor on any service to fix it. Once you have had the machine one year they are done with you. The bottom line is a very expensive machine should last longer than four years and four months. I will never buy another Whirlpool appliance. What a rip-off. I bought an LG to replace it.

Whirlpool unprofessional service

One year old from Alghanim bought warranty finished Whirlpool Refrigerator had cooling problem. Informed Alghanim Service Center, they came and after initial diagnosis requested to take the refrigerator to their service center.
They took the refrigerator and after few days delivered / installed the repaired refrigerator and charged total KD 38/- comprise of service and component repair / replacement charge.
Figured out the same cooling problem and called them, they visited again and on the second day took the refrigerator to their workshop.
Returned the refrigerator after two days but still the same problem persist.
We are literally fedup and helpless not sure whom to approach again, as it already took around two weeks, without refrigerator it's hard to survive.
Appreciate if we get some guidance in managing the situation.

Whirlpool part replacement damaged in shipping

I needed a replacement part on a whirlpool refrigerator freezer ice maker. Whirlpool would not sell the part separately. They forced me to buy a new freezer door. When the freezer door arrived from the Whirlpool parts department it had a dent on the side. I have called numerous times and spent hours & hours on the phone since Aug 2014 and still no new door. Customer Service supervisors promise to send new door but don't. They also promised to look into it and call me back and they don't.

Whirlpool contract not honored

Do not buy a whirlpool service contract.
I called the company several times before I purchased contract and asked the same question to the representatives.
I was given the same answer, everything is covered. Today, I called to use the service for the first time, I was told that the
Part I need is not covered. The part I need is the rubber insulation that goes around the door to keep the cool air in.
The refrigerator is only 3 years old and the rubber is dry/cracked and now falling off. My previous refrig was 15 years old and never had a problem.
So anybody writing a complaint against is probably justified.

I ordered a Whirlpool refrigerator Model WRF989SDAM00 on 04/25/2013 and it was delivered on 05/20/2013.
It worked fine until its first water filter change was due. Upon the filter change I experienced dripping from the filter compartment.

1) First service call was done under manufacturer's warranty to Tommy D. Appliances. The filter was exchanged, and I hoped that was it.

2) Not so! A few days before the warranty ran out, the filter change caused another leakage problem, this time coming from the lights adjacent to the filter compartment. This time it was Port City Appliance.

3) Not so! A 3rd filter change causes the exact same leakage problem as the second time. This time I had to call in the problem under the Whirlpool extended warranty service plan (United Service Protection Inc, Federal Warranty Service, Corp., Sureway, Inc., asf) All in all ASSURANT companies. A service call was made to Fedder's Appliances to come out on 02/10/2015. Mr. Fedder then called off the appointment on that morning. I called back twice to get another appointment. The first time that afternoon requesting another appointment date. He never called back, the second time a couple of days later, he was at a location and the service was so bad that the call got disconnected. He never bothered to call back. I was so frustrated that I called the United Service Protection again and explained the situation. The representative told me that an appointment with Port City could not be done, and the only technician out there is Fedders'. She called him and told me that the earliest appointment is 02/17/2015. I agreed.

4.)...and the fun continues : At the time of appointment setting I had realized that my bread and softer items like ice cream are not properly frozen anymore. I decided to mention that to Mr. Fedder when he would come by to look at the filter problem.

5) He came and unsurprisingly said that this model fridge has quite a few problems I told him about my bread, and voila, it was determined that my freezer's aggregate/compressor is also broken and needed to be replaced.
Mr. Fedder told me that it should take about 10 days for the parts to come in and then he could fix it.

6)2 weeks later I called Mr. Fedder about the parts and repair. He said that the parts had yet to be shipped to him and that he is still waiting.

9) 03/15/2015 - A United Service Protection person calls and inquires what is going on with the issue due to a BBB complaint I made against Whirlpool. I explained the story and told her that I want a new refrigerator due to all the failures already experienced by me. I told her about an additional new leakage from the ice maker hole.

Two hours later another call from United Service Protection from a different representative telling me that it has been determined that the fridge suffer from a SEALED SYSTEM FAILURE and that this has to be addressed with Whirlpool.

03/18/2015 - Another call to officially announce the failure of the ice maker, and, oh, no parts yet. Representative wants to talk to Fedder. He calls me 2 hours later and says no parts yet. He cannot make them give him a new fridge due to policy.

03/23/2015 - Another, now louder, call with a lot of Ashley:"I understand" and I:"No, you don't". Then I requested a talk with a supervisor. Transfer to Natasha, but the talk was the same. I am yelling at this time, it being over 4 weeks now. Then the boom! Natasha (supervisor) actually told me that according to her notes in the computer per Mr. Fedder from 03/20/15, the parts were never ordered due to my demand to Fedder that United Service needs to replace my appliance. Needless to say that I lost it after that!
I yelled that I never did not want a repair, and that in fact, I was told the whole time that parts are not being shipped to Fedder.
Natasha told me she will look into that and will give me a call back within two days. Never happened!

This unacceptable business behavior on their end. ! Ridiculous!

Whirlpool leaking washer under warranty

I purchased a Whirlpool Cabrio top load washer with a 4 year extended warranty in March 2013. It started leaking from the bottom front in October 2014. They have been out 9 times, replaced the water valve, bleach dispenser, detergent dispenser, tub ring twice, and tub. And guess what...it leaks to point that it cannot be used at all! In fact, it has ruined the floor from all the water damaged for the past 5 months. The tech that came out the first 6 times refused to come out again because lowes is not paying him. This needs to be fixed!

Whirlpool No help and the warranty turned to be useless

I bought washing machine from the company www.whirlpool.com. It was real scam, ‘coz the quality was really bad. The washing machine stopped to work after 4 months, but I had the warranty. When I called to the customer services, they told me that this warranty was completely useless and they couldn’t help me. I wonder if there are people, who faced the same problem? I really need help or any useful advice. Please, post your comments and ideas. Thanks.

Whirlpool defective product

My Whirlpool hot water heater is only 2-3 years old. I've had a plumber come to take out the anode rod. The man can't get the thing to budge! This plumber called Whirlpool, who admitted, that there is a problem with the anode rod. I feel Whirlpool should, either replace the water heater or pay for it to be fixed. I'm on a limited income and can't afford the payments a plumber charges. I have received a paper for a law suit against Whirlpool for the gas dryers, which I have. I wish I had researched Whirlpool products beforehand. I am so angry that they don't stand behind their defective products, which is surely bad for business. I would like to know what I, as a consumer, can do to right this wrong. Any help with this situation would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Whirlpool a/c central unit

Whirlpool was notified that a Central Air conditioning unit caught fire and was destroyed. The unit was less than 3 years old and due to a lack of paperwork the warranty was not honored. This was understandable. The unit did not catch fire from lightening or power surge. It has been reported to the government agencies that handle problems such as this. The whirlpool corp., the distributor, and the installers have all refused to produce paperwork so this unit can be identified and have said that they destroyed the unit and therefore it cannot be Traced. Should this unit still be in use by other homeowners there is a risk it could catch fire and burn down the home it is installed in resulting in the deaths of the occupants.
