Western General Insurance Company Car I insurance

I cancelled the policy after several months of them adding fees and changing the monthly amount on a six month policy. After the last month was paid they charged my visa card for another month without my permission. A fraud claim was opened with my bank. After the investigation my money was returned to me and a block was placed against western general from continually trying to charge my account for a policy that was terminated. The next thing they did was report it to the credit bureaus which was disputed in 2020 and was removed from my credit report as fraud. Now it is march 2021 and they have sold it to another collection company who is trying to collect the same charge they were found guilty of by the bank. Also they have added a person to the case who was never on the policy nor ever insured as a driver on the policy. I was the sole insured. Now how they have obtained his name is either from my phone number that he pays for or his current policy with another insurance company I am insured as a driver currently. Western general is a corrupt company who cheats you, tries to claim money on disputed charges they were found to be fraudulent and now calls and harrases you and even went as far as threatening me after it was explained the policy was cancelled, and they were found fraudulent charges after policy was terminated by a bank and credit report ing agency.

Desired outcome: For this charge or claim to be eradicated or I will be suing for fraud and reporting them to the better business bureau for fraud

Western General Insurance Company claim adjuster behavior

Claim Adjuster of Western car Insurance was very abusive, he kept calling and leave voice mail, email, and mail to his customer although the customer already answer what the insurance required to provide the personal information because there was collision occurred. But the Western General Insurance provided claim adjuster who have been kept postponing the claim and suddenly come with new claim adjuster and asking another information from customer. This is an abusive company. The case of coverage has been going on for 6 months and there was no responsibility to repair the car, but instead kept asking information again and again. The claim adjuster was very abusive.

Western General Insurance Company claim - 10262

On April 21st, 2019, my car was hit (rear ended) by a WG policy holder who happens to be my neighbor. I contact the following day, which was a Monday. They submitted my claim, however they refused to move forward with having it inspected until they spoke with the policy holder and they would only first reach out to him by mail. So I asked my neighbor to contact them by phone so it would not prolong the process. After this, it took a week for them to get the appraiser to my car. The appt. was for 2PM and I took off of work early plus I live in a city 25 miles away from my house to meet him. He did not arrive until 3:30PM and refused to answer my calls while waiting for him. When he arrived he was taking pictures of the hood of my car, the sides of my vehicle, the roof of my car, even on the inside of my vehicle (did not understand this). He was literally only there for 5 mins. Once he completed the inspection he told me that he was finished. I was concerned because he never took pictures of the actual damages to the back of my vehicle. I asked him why he was taking photos of the roof of my car and he stated that my claim was for hail damage. I asked him to make sure that he had the right claim. His response is that he could take off the hail damage, as to submit a fraud claim. I told him to make sure he got the damage where I was hit. I waited 48 hours and contacted WG. They stated they had not received the inspection report and to wait another 48 hours. Two weeks later they still had not received the inspection report. They escalated my claim to dispatch and management because this had never happened before with the inspection report taking so long. Called on May 9th and was informed that it was finally received and they were solving my claim with $230. This amount is not enough to cover the light replacement and cover, let alone the damage to my bumper. I have been trying to appeal and now no one will call me back. Everyone is always so constantly rude who works there. They are always so quick to get you off the phone when you have waited 30 minutes to speak with them. I would like to appeal my claim and have a new inspector come out and inspect my vehicle who knows why they are there. There is no way they got the correct and accurate pictures when the inspector did not know what he was looking for to begin with.

Western General Insurance Company claims

I'm a disabled woman. At the end of May of 2018 my finance company added western general to my account. On the 4th of July my car was totalled western general did not come appraise it til almost a month later. My car was towed from scene. I had no place to park it. I've been in contact with Joselyn for the last week saying she s waiting for report today I talked to Joselyn she said I needed to contact my finance company. I talked to them they referred me back to insurance stating that I was only getting 280 toward my car. I called Elizabeth and left a message she returned my car telling me they were applying 500 and then said she couldn't talk to me because it was a repo claim but continued to ask me questions. Then said I'm not getting nothing back. I was never given policy info or nothing. I was advised that there was 2 car seats in the car and that they should pay me for them as I can't used them. This insurance company is unprofessional and I am disabled they are discriminating against me won't explain nothing. Joselyn said the same damage that happened in November 2017 is the same. There was a police report and definitely not I can't even drive this vehicle. Please contact me a.s.a.p

Western General Insurance Company comprehensive extended warranty

Doesn't really covers anything!
3/1/17 Took my car in to fix the sliding door that was closing and opening on it's own. Parts cost $360. Even though it is a "comprehensive" warranty a part that was necessary for the operation of the car was not covered. Their explanation was that what ever is not written as covered in the contract is NOT. So be aware when you buy an extended warranty from them to read the contract. What ever isn't specifically written that is covered (which is not much) they will give any excuse possible to try to get out of paying for.
The excellent service department at Honda of TO gave me a discount, because they couldn't even understand why the part wasn't covered.

Western General Insurance Company Extended Warranty - Trickery used in the wording of the service

A week ago I took my truck in to an Autonation Ford dealership to get an oil change and because I noticed that my engine light came on the night before. When the service tech turned the truck on to move it he claimed to hear a "weird noise" coming from the engine. The problem was that the valve cover had cracked. Assuming that my 2000 dollar warranty was going to cover my whole engine I was very surprised to hear that I owe 900 dollars to ford. The warranty company called "Protective" through which Western General operates, has the wording "Engine: all internally lubricated parts contained within the engine block, cylinder heads or rotary engine housing; oil pump; timing belt; or chain, timing gears and timing tensioners; water pump; engine block, cylinder barrels, engine head, rotor housing (if damaged by an internally lubricated part). Now, when I bought the truck this was the only warranty they would offer me because the truck had 140, 000 miles on it. So I called ford back and asked what the problem with the warranty was. They said that the company would not discuss anything with them, assuming I'd just go away and fork out the cash. So I called the warranty company and sure enough they say that the valve cover isn't an "internally lubricated part" and that they will not cover it or the belts for the engine because they aren't internal. My contract says the word "Engine" on it. I guess That doesn't include the whole engine although the problem occurred because of an internal problem. Pretty disappointed in the fact that I gave them 2000 dollars to "protect" me but now I know to never use them again and to watch out for tricky and sneaky wording, although I was told that my engine was covered. I am also disappointed in Ford for giving me that company as the only warranty I could purchase. The only advice I can give is DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY because they aren't interested in helping you, but they are interested in your money.

Western General Insurance Company won't fix my car / unprofessional

One of their clients made a right hand turn into my left lane and smashed into my right front passenger door...I called and filed a claim with his insurance company (Western General) right away since he was at fault. Didn't hear from anybody until I had to call back again, then was asigned an insurance adjuster i called her to check the status on my claim she then notified me that "they have been trying to get a hold of the guy who hit me, his phone number is no longer in service, so they will need to then contact him by mail." Great now it's going to take even longer to get the damages on my car fixed . Now here we are 3 months later and my car still hasn't been fixed I called the insurance adjuster yesterday 1-6-15 and they still haven't heard from him...and I was told they cannot move forward with my claim until he responds. I have been nothing but cooperative them. Why should I have to be going through this? isn't that what the idiot is paying you for? Can't believe this guy is out there driving getting into accidents and western general will not fix the damage he caused. Obviously he's not responding and hiding for a reason. Western General also stated I would need to go through my insurance to get my car fixed if the guy doesn't respond. I already tried going through my insurance but they told me i need to go through his since he was at fault. I am so unhappy with the way Western General handle things they are so unprofessional! Thanks western general for doing absolutley nothing! What a way to start the new year!

Western General Insurance Company Extended Service Warranty

Do not ever buy an extended automobile warranty for a used vehicle from this company. All of their agreements are written so that it would take an act of God to receive payment from them. They require so much information, drag you along in the process and build up a bill of analysis by the auto mechanic, that they eventually reject, saying they do not insure that in the vehicle. Buyer beware, we learned!

Western General Insurance Company they won't refund my 114.30

My policy ended with Western General on 10/14/08 however on 10/15/08 114.30 was drafted from my bank account after I already had another policy with another company that I had started on 10/14/08 and paid on 10/15/08. I called 1800.758.3311 and spoke to a rep named Dena who had a BAD attitude and she told me that I needed to speak to customer service and to call 1.800.300.4009 I called the number and I was transferred to Andy before I could even get my story all the way out he said let me transfer you to Customer Service then I was transferred to a operator named Maria. I explained that Western pulled 114.30 from my account and I wanted my money back I told her I went though another insurance company and she stated oh let me get you to the billing dept and then transferred me back to Dena. When she transferred me back to Dena she stated once again that I needed to speak with customer service because she couldn't help me and U asked her if she could transfer me back to customer service she stated she couldn't transfer me (but yet I was transferred to her) so of course I called again and this time I got a rep named Mya or Myra I explained to her my story (again) and she stated she would start the refund process and to call her Wed 10/22/08. Because the process can take up to 2 weeks buts she's going to escalte the process and she gave me her ext 3702. So today I called 1800.300.4009 and tried to enter in that ext and guess what it was the wrong ext. So I waited on hold and guess who answers the phone Dena. After I told her that I spoke to her before she I asked her what was the status on my refund and she stated that a check in the amount of 54 and some changed will be mailed out and I should be recieving it in 25 DAYS. Now I didn't get a call or anything to inform me of this refund nore was I happy about the refund that I was getting so I asked Dena to transfer me to a supervisor and she tranferred me to ralphs voicemail. So I called back and spoke to a rep named Gabril and I explained my situation how I was drafted when I shouldn't have been and he stated " on your form it states that if you have automatic deposite your policy will automatically renew". Now I have that form nowhere on this form it does it say this but gabril stated he would have his supervisor Melinda call me. Around 4pm Melinda calls and tries to tell me the same thing and then says there's a non refundable fee of 55.00 and 1.80 california fraud fee but know where on my paper does it show this. And when I asked melinda where does it say the 56.80 is non refundable she states it says "fully earned" ok so again where does it say those fees are NON REFUNDABLE. She asked me to send my paper so we can discuss it so I will send her what I have and Im sure I still won't get a full refund. I have filled a complaint with the BBB already and I will keep going until I get my full refund and not in 25 days. I made my payments on time to Western General every month not once was I late now that I decided to go with another policy I can't have my 114.30 back and when not to mention they sent my 54.00 dollars in the mail and I won't get it for a month. WESTERN GENERAL IS OK UNTIL YOU DECIEDE YOU DON'T WANT TO USE THEM AND THEIR SERVICE IS TERRIBLE. I WILL NEVER GO WITH THEM AGAIN

Western General Insurance Company Scam and cheating

SCAM! SCAM! SCAM!

This extended warranty company is a scam. They do not tell you that there rental reimbursement is based on how many flag hours it takes to fix your vehicle, not by the day! They also do not provide you a list of covered parts, just an overview. Then they deny parts that a dealership may call one thing and the insurance calls it something else, but it's the same part!

Had I done my research before, I would never had paid $2300 for this so call extended warranty. Customer service blows you off when you try to cancel as well. There have been multiple complaints with the BBB and otr forums such as this.

Would never use them again and plan on writing their main offices - not that it will do much.

I cancelled an extended warranty within 48 hours of purchasing it. The dealer Thelen in Bay City, MI nor Western General will refund me the $2995 due back to me. Each of them keeps saying the refund has to come from the other one. Both of these companies need to be shut down.

I would like to post something postive about my experience with Western General .

I did contact Ken Harrington as was suggestion in his comments.
I am happy to say he listen to my situtation and took time to review and accept my request for some flexiblity in their policies.

It was encourgaing to be treated as a person and not just a claim number as that sometines is the case.
My claim was resolved happily in my favor and hopefully this comment will take some of the sting out of past complaints.

Western General Insurance Company Fraud and scam

I bought a Western General Warranty on a 2001 BMW 525i. Warranty is good for 3 years or 36 months, whichever occurs first. I bought the Mileage Plus contract/Level II, which was billed as the "bumper-to-bumper" warranty by the BMW dealership that I bought the car from and touted the warranty. I've never used the warranty. The three years is about up. I took the car in for its 100, 000 mile major maintenance, and the shop found a problem with the thermostat housing, which is part of the engine - let me think - it's in the engine compartment. But, when Western General was called by the shop, they said it wasn't a covered part. I called to complain myself, and they quickly dispatched me by saying it was not a covered part. Worthless warranty that I wasted $2, 000 on, for absolutely nothing. The first time I inquire - and, of course, it's not covered. I am going to recommend to all my friends to never buy a warranty from Western General.

Western General Insurance Company Failer to Cover Warrantied Work

My daughter purchased a GMC Yukon and was sold a service agreement by Western General. However, though it was in her contract she was not aware of the extent of the agreement. We had a repair done that would have been covered by the agreement. We paid for it. Later, I examined her contract and found the agreement.

I called Western General to explain. The said we needed prior authorization, which was true. Yet, I explained this was a "covered" repair and further explained our not being aware there was an agreement. They would not even hear us.

Certainly they have the legal right to refuse payment. It just seems to us that they could have at least examined the repair descripti0n and bill. When my wife called, the customer service man would even respond to her questions. He was totally silent! Some service!

I'm sick and tired of hearing from people like you. Know why you don't read your contract...with anything you buy? Cause you are going to rely on someone out there in the business community to save your a$$ due to your ignorance.

Read your contract. They lived up to it. You didn't yet its 'their fault' and you file a rip-off.

Yes. Someone got ripped off here. Its Western General when they signed you up. They got ripped off.

Western General Insurance Company Unreal denial!

I purchased a 2002 BMW 330xi two weeks ago from APPLE BMW of York. I also purchased the Western General extended warranty for 2.2k. The materials had a picture of a car and examples of prices for things covered under the warranty. One of the items was a fuel pump with the example price of $450. (Important later). So, I took my car into the dealership for service because something was wrong with the fuel gauge. I received a call from the dealership that the fuel sending units were bad and needed replaced. So, they called Western General to get approval. I get a call from the dealership that they denied the claim because that 'part' was not covered. Yet, this 'part' is in the fuel pump, and in order to fix this part, the fuel pump needs replaced. I called Western General myself to see if i could get someone to explain this. I had Jerry on the phone from Western General. He was so uninformative and unhelpful that it took everything in me to not hang up the phone. He explained that because that 'part' was not listed on the contract, that they do not have to pay for it. Anyone with some basic awareness would know that almost everything has 'parts' to it. That by adding the 'parts', you get a whole. If a fuel pump is covered, and any one of the parts of the fuel pump goes, Western General says too bad for you, its not covered. Jerry repeated this to me, "fuel pumps are covered, the parts are not." So i am stuck with this worthless 2k Warranty that covers nothing from Western General. Please take my advice, and DO NOT BUY ANYTHING RELATED TO WESTERN GENERAL. DO NOT MAKE THE 2k MISTAKE I MADE. DO NOT BUY WESTERN GENERAL EXTENDED WARRANTY.

The very same thing has happened to me. I purchased a 2006 BMW 750Li in September 2006 and I took my car to the dealer because my fuel gauge was not working properly. I too purchased a contract. but mine was $3, 195. The Manager in California, Mr. Hennington told me the exact same thing. I guess they are programmed to say this. My left and right sending units need replacing and I agree it should be covered. The brochure that I was given from the dealer indicates this is a covered part, but the contract does not. I feel Western General is conducting fradulent business practices and need to be stopped.

I agree to some extent with your frustration. However most service contracts as with any insurance contracts have exceptions. Depending on the reading of your contract it should have an area called "what is not covered" or what is specifically covered and have a detailed explanation. Regrettably, your service provider is probably in the right. While the componet that failed is part of the fuel pump, its function doesnt directly relate to the fuel pumps function. For example, it sounds like the level sensor on the fuel pump, which relates directly to your fuel gauge reading the amount of fuel may have failed, while the actual fuel pump (delivery fuel) may still be fine. The level sensor itself may not be covered, regardless of the fact that it isnt serviced seperatly on your vehicle. Keep in mind not all vehicles are designed the same. Hope that helps a little.

Western General Insurance Company Extended warranty scam!

This nov 07 i took my car to the local mercedes benz dealership were it was purchased new and were the western general extended warranty was purchased just before the factory warranty ran out. I purchased the warranty in march 07 and this was the first chance i have had to use. The car was found to need both thrust arm bushings (Control arm bushings) replaced. Western general denied the claim because thrust arm bushings, as mercedes benz refers to their control arm bushings, is not listed on their covered items.

Though control arm bushings are covered under western general coverage, but because mercedes refers to these as thrust arms, and the term thrust arm is not mentioned in the covered item section, they will not cover it. Now, since the control arm on my mercedes is referred to as the thrust arm and not control arm, i was told by western general that basically none of the control arms on my car will ever be covered because they are referred to as thrust arms by mercedes benz.

What a lovely bit of western general word trickery to get out of having to pay for this repair. What a despicable practice. Absolutely shameful! And this is the only warranty mercedes benz sells. Shameful, shameful. I am planning on canceling what is left of this warranty and using the money to pay for the repair.

My advice ** same as the persons before me**do not buy extended warranties through western general, they are a nightmare company that will never give an honest straight answer.

See you on youtube wg!

I purchased an extended warranty through this company and when the car began to act up they refused to pay anything towards the repairs. The items that needed fixing was electrical...clearly on the declaration page it said I was covered for electrical issues. When the dealer contacted them to pay for the items they refused stating that the "Starter Relay" was not apart of "Electrical Issues". To add to the ignorance on my declaration page for the warranty my particular plan listed as "Level 1 1-5" has the following items as covered:

1) Engine

2) Automatic/Standard Transmission And Transfer Case

3) Drive Axle

4) Steering

5) Electrical

Can someone please explain to me how a "Starter Relay" is not covered in any of the items mentioned? Not only was the gentleman ignorant but he was flat out rude and unwilling to help. In addition to that they didn't even cover the diagnostic test or any other of the items which were all "Electrical" issues causing the vehicle not to start on the first crank. This is a total ripoff and an attempt to not pay out on a warranty coverage that's stipulated in writing. Stay far away from this company! I have proof in my hands yet they will not honor the declaration page they provided me. A total of over $700 in damages for a vehicle I have only had for 5 months with an "Extended warranty" that is good for 1 year or up to 12, 000 miles whichever comes first. What a joke! I cannot afford the amount asked to fix the vehicle I can only pay for the diagnostic and pray I can find another company to fix the issue. This is illegal! And not right!

i have bought a car from mercedes benz of calabasas...they have some very good used cars...and i got a good one...but the dealership is not your friend...they are there to make money...and screw you if they can...your job is to not get screwed...when you go into the finance office to deal with the finance side of things...reject any options..if you got a good car...you don't need any extra cost options...and look over the paperwork with a fine tooth comb before you sign anything...remember they are not your friends...and work off of a commission...so they are looking after themselves...not you...go in there with your game face on...this is like a mini war...so be prepared...and take as long as you want to inspect the car of choice...if its a used car...do a safety check on it...doors...dents...leaks...smell the auto trans oil...shouldn't smell burnt at all...check the oil..inspect every piece of equipment you have on the car...do your homework...be prepared...this is not a game...this is war...i hope to do business with mercedes-benz of calabasas again...great used cars...and yes they have a lot of dog cars too...avoid them...people screw them too...with junky cars traded in...

The repair shop and I, have been waiting for a new transmission for over a week and a half. Western General can not tell me anything but what their supplier says "Should be there tomorrow", I have heard that for 4 days now. Their representatives can not solve any problems. Management won't call back, they just keep me in the dark. I get conflicting explanations on my rental car coverage, that will be another battle I'm sure. Don't purchase their plans because they can't support it with good service. Completely frustrating!

I bought a extended warranty when I purchased my Lexus rx330 year 2005.
I never used. Now they should refund to me. I faxed them and also mail by certified mail, I received receipt of certified mail.
They don't answer the phone they don't refund the money.
I don't know how to do it.
My dealer just said wait it takes 45day. I already waited 60days.
Never buy extended warranty from Western General or through dealer. It is really sucks.

We are having the same problem as other posters here. Bought the Gold plan. Was told it was bumper to bumper. One week after buying a used BMW from Mercedes Benz of Greenway Houston, the back end of the car was sitting way too low. We took the car to our local BMW dealership and the suspension is out and it needs to have the several parts replaced to fix it. Long story short, the parts to fix the suspension are not covered and it's going to cost us $2000 to fix it. So, we have been trying for two weeks now to get the warranty cancelled and our money returned. Western General says that we have to go through the dealership to cancel and the person at the dealership won't call us back. Awful! Don't buy anything from Western General!

South florida dealerships should be getttin notorious new title of "pomzi scam of car maintenace agreement capital of nation", now a day, they do not even do maintenance to your car, such as change oil or rotate tires--simple task, they just switch you car to another worst dirty one that your are not even aware of it.

I purchased a low mileage Volvo from Maroone Volvo, Florida (Auto Nation) with and extended warrantee from Western General Auto Repair Insurance Company. The warrantee was suppose to cover everything except wearing parts and had an $100 deductible. Our Volvo broke down 500 miles from our home. We had the car towed to the nearest Volvo dealer in Winter Park, Florida. The dealer found the problem, but told us that the part was not covered in our policy. The part was $1, 000 electronic control module (without labor or cost for programming). Western General did not back their warrantee and Maroone did nothing to help the situation. Needless to say, we will never purchase or recommend purchasing a car from AutoNation and DON'T EVER BUY AN INSURANCE POLICY FROM WESTERN GENERAL. We are in the process of taking this to the Florida Attorney General's office for insurance fraud.

Responding to Michael 1456
Even the "Platinum" "bumper to bumper" coverage has lots and lots of exclusions if you read the fine print.
Not only the maintenance items you would expect like tires and brakes, but exhaust system, throttle, clutch, trim, uphostery, paint and on and on.

It is appearent in reading these posts. Most of the cosumers purchasing these warranties are uninformed and mislead to the exent of coverage they are purhcasing. So, when they have there claim denied they get mad at the warranty company that issued the insurance policy. These policies clearly explain what is and what is not covered. The top tier, sometimes referred to as a PLATINUM COVERAGE, which is an exclusionary policy outlines what is not covered. This is due to the extensiveness of component coverage and is easier to list what is not covered. The next level of coverage, GOLD PLAN, which sounds like all the negative post purchased. This is a named coverage. Meaning if it is not specifically named in your contract it is NOT COVERED! It's that simple. The top tier covers approx. 5-6, 000 components versus approx. 1200 components. Big difference. I've known Western General since 1989 and they are the only Mechanical Breakdown policy providers I will purhcase from. Just be aware of what your are buying and get a copy of the policy before hand to review. Don't take the word of the individual selling it to you. Many times the objective is to sell you less coverage for more money under the impression "It's bumper to bumper." This term may only be used to refer to original manufactures warranty.
I hope this helps
