I purchased a supposed AKC Champion Lines Labrador Retriever. Breeder, Tricia Millner promised to send registration forms in the mail. She said she had 5 litters at the same time. So far, no registration papers so I paid $800 for a mongrel. Not fair to the dog, me, or any of the other people she has done this to.
I have filed a complaint to the AKC and am pursuing legal action, but I want to tell my story any where and every way I can.

Don't buy a dog without registration papers in hand. Avoid Tricia (Patricia) Millner and Westbrook Labs in Mass.

I also am surprised at this complaint as we got our yellow lab Oakley from here and we had a wonderful experience. His parents were Oakbark and Aspen. His 15th birthday is today and he has been the best dog ever and wish we could clone him! Any of his siblings out there ? Thank you for bringing him into our lives!

We purchased a male English Lab from Trisha in July, 2014 and could not ask for a better dog. He is beautiful and true to the breed with a block head and perfect coloring. He is full of personality, but he is also the most well-mannered and gentle dog I have ever owned. He has no health issues and is very active. We will not hesitate to return to Trisha to find a companion for our Lab. We were told up front that she wasn't "registering" the dog with the AKC, however it did not matter to us whether we had papers or not as we are not interested in breeding - he is a family pet and we couldn't be happier!

I had a similar experience as the original poster. I paid $600 for a male chocolate lab from Trisha Millner in January, 2011. I contacted Trisha several times to obtain the registration papers, but she never returned my calls or emails and never produced the paperwork. I suppose I could have refused to pay her the balance without the paperwork when I picked up the puppy (I had made a $300 deposit weeks earlier). But there's no turning back when you've promised your 9 year old a puppy and put it in his arms. Especially since we were still mourning the loss of our 14 year old Lab who had passed a few months earlier. Luckily we ended up with a great dog who has been happy and healthy since we brought him home. But we paid for a AKC certified Labrador and did not get what we paid for. That is fraud. Bottom line, I should have been less trusting and she is dishonest and unprofessional.

Hello,
I cannot read your post without commenting. I had t pull out my papers and research m dog. His father was a champion in the ring, and I have limited registration papers on him (to protect the breed from being over bred). I honestly hope it works out for you but I will say I got my AKC registered and certified yellow lab, Willowbrook's Hercules from her 13 years ago and he is by far the best lab I have ever owned or met. I work as a veterinary professional in the state, therefore I understand there are plenty of breeder's to avoid and reasons to protect the breeds themselves. The only thing I can say is I haven't been to her place in years but I truly believe I will never find a dog as stellar as him. I get nothing but compliments on him, even now at his ripe old age. Confirmation, temperament, "blocky" head, just everything is here in this dog. I came on to look up her contact info to hopefully get a relative of his before he passes and I am appalled by what I found. His papers were mailed as she registered him for us under the name we chose and that was the cause for delay. He came OFA and eyes cert and except for a couple old man lipomas he hasn't had any medical ailments to speak of. At 13 he still runs and hardly suffers from any arthritis. He is a testament to good breeding and I wish you nothing but the best with your "mongrel."

We recently went to this breeder to buy a lab pup. She was very pushy and practically had the puppy packed and ready to go before we even saw him. It was odd. When we asked to see the puppies parents she said she didn't have them there with her, which again, that's a pretty important part of buying a puppy, seeing the parents. Although I fell in love and probably would have taken the puppy home, my husband suspected something just odd about Trisha and apparently he was right. I'm not saying she doesn't sell healthy dogs, but I think she's in it for the money so I'm glad we didn't jump on our first visit. I want to buy from a breeder who truly cares for the dogs. Not to mention she let us go see the puppy around 9:00 pm. Just points $$ to me. I want to rescue the poor parents. They are probably exhausted.

I bought a lab from Tricia in 2002 under Willowbrook Labradors. He was the BEST dog. However, he had many health problems and a cancerous tumor in 2004. I contacted Tricia about this to ask if she had any advice or if any of her other puppies ever had a mast cell tumor. She was very standoff-ish said not that I know of but was busy at the moment and would call me back. She never did. She didn't give a crap and neither did the Vet, who was her boyfriends father. I ultimately changed Vet's. But through many Labrador forums over the years I have talked to so many reputable lab breeders who would never do what she did if one of their dogs had cancer and would be more than helpful with advice, support etc. 9 years later, just last week, my beloved boy passed away from bone marrow cancer. I am devastated. I bought the BEST dog EVER from her 9 years ago, but knowing what I know now I would never buy a dog from her again. I am still paying off thousands of dollars in Vet bills.

The correct name of the kennel is Willowbrook kennel in West Brisdewater and I have had the unfortunate experience of dealing with this bossy, pushy, [censor]y woman Tricia Milner. If her dogs could give birth to dollar bills, this would be much more convenient for her, since it appeared to me that this is the only purpose these animals serve.
After already having dealt with this kennel with another friend, I tried to convince my girlfriend that she did not want to buy a dog from these people but she insisted. It took many tries just to get through to someone (which should have been a warning in itself) and when she finally set up a meeting time and we drove all the way down there, they never showed! It did give us the opportunity to walk around (looking for them). We found filthy kennels with 20 + dogs barking and biting at us. The smell was terrible, it was dark, dirty, and didn't look like it had been cleaned in quite some time. We knocked on what we thought was the door, but it turned out to be a storage building with puppies locked in crates. They had all different types of puppies including bulldogs, and golden retrievers? So yes, it would seem that this is a puppy mill. Tricia never offered an apology for her absence but instead indicated that it was our fault! Please do not buy dogs from this woman at WILLOWBROOK KENNEL, it just encourages her to keep up her poor breeding practices and it's the dogs that suffer.

Who has 5 litters at the same time? Sounds like she is running a puppy mill. This woman rarely answers the phone and refused to answer most of my questions. She couldn't even tell me how many dogs she has. Do not buy dogs from Tricia, she clearly has something to hide.

Some people don't remove posts that they have written and Also the kennel name wasn't even right.. She got her papers it just took awhile. It happens. Tricia Has full bred labs at a fair price. You can clearly see by all of the other posts that she is a great breeder.

Here's a second photo. The first one (above) was taken this summer. This one was taken last winter, early 2009, and published in our local paper. Sorry this has been spread out over 3 separate submissions, but I forgot to attach these.

We got a female yellow lab puppy in Feb 2004 and she is beautiful, healthy and wonderful, the best dog ever. People always ask me where we got her. Is this breeder still in West Bridgewater? What is her contact info?

We got a puppy from this breeder in April 2010 and our dog is perfect. we wouldn't change anything and will be back to get another in the future. I'm not sure what happened with the person who originally complained but my experience was perfect. Our dog is healthy, smart, and totally well behaved by nature -- she was easy to train.

I purchased a black lab from Tricia in 2003. A big blocky English Male named Gunner. My best friend purchase the other male in the litter - Potter. They are two of the most handsome, healthy, well behaved labs you'll ever see. We both got all of our paperwork and could not be happier with our dogs. I'm very sorry that the poster above is having such problems. I don't know what happened but I had to comment that I could not be happier with the dog that I purchased, and I know I speak from my friend John as well.

Thanks,
John

Hello, I also purchased an AKC labrador retriever from Tricia (Patricia) Millner, but had good luck.

I received all AKC certified paperwork as well as a family tree (additional cost). Although, it did take six months to receive the paperwork from the time I purchased the dog.

I've been very happy with my dog, she is a great addition to the family. In fact, I just went back to see Tricia this week to purchase another AKC labrador retriever.

Did you contact her about not receiving the paperwork and what was her response?
