Wayne Dalton IDrive Garage Door Opener — Product Failure
We built a home 11 years ago. Installed one large (two-door) and one small (one door) Wayne Dalton carriage doors and IDrive. Liked the idea of "Lifetime Warranty" as the products were very pricey compared to typical doors/openers. Had problems in the beginning with the programming of the remotes. But a few weeks ago, the main door opener failed to open. We called the builder who lives nearby and he called a garage door company. Both came over and suggested that we needed to replace the opener and the IDrive was toast.See the Top 10 Worst Complaints in Wrightstown, WI I asked about the "Lifetime Warranty" and basically was told there was good news and bad news. The good news was there was a "Lifetime Warranty." The bad news was the IDrive side of the business had been closed. So $900 later, we have a new spring and a Liftmaster wallmount installed. Someone please start a class action suit. My understanding is that either WD died or decided to sell off his business and the new people kept the door side of the business but got out of the opener side. So all of the people who shelled out big bucks for a slick opener were basically taken! Thanks, Wayne!
