Watson Motorsports CALLED ME!! to let me know that they reviewed my car loan application on-line and that I was pre-approved for a loan up to $15,000. For the past 2 weeks, I called quite frequently just to make sure that what I was hearing was correct: that 1) I was pre-approved, 2) I didn't need a co-signer, and 3) that they knew my credit situation (I lost my job after I had a baby and had some financial difficulties). I told them all of this before I drove 45 minutes to an hour only for them to tell me that they couldn't help me. I understood I have a low credit score - and if they couldn't help me, that's fine. But don't tell me "Oh, no problem... we have lots of people who get second chances, or get car after repos, etc" and then can't do a thing for me. Don't waste my time.

Like I said, I confirmed with about 5 different people before I made the trek to Midlothian, IL, 2 on this particular day. 5 different people told me that I was fine, to just come in, fill out the paperwork, and I could drive off with my 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo for $7995. They even told me that they would "hold it for me, since I already had an appointment". I did my research on the car...even had a back-up car that I researched in case that one wasn't available. Well when I actually got to the dealership, ironically no one that I spoke to was actually available. Secondly, they made me sign this form saying that if they got me a car that was around the monthly payments that I desired, I would take it home. I signed it no problem, because as far as I was concerned, I wanted the Jeep that they SAID they had and that I did research on. Needless to say, I never even saw the Jeep. The car salesman acted like he didn't even know what I was talking about.So after about 15 minutes of waiting around wondering what the hold-up was (ESPECIALLY since I supposedly had already been pre-approved), he came back and told me that I was going to need a co-signer. Of course I was upset and started to jap, so he went and got his manager (I guess), as if that was going to make me change my mind. I told him that I was very upset because I drove all the way out there just because they assured me that I was pre-approved and didn't need a co-signer. They knew my credit situation because they pulled it up and told me stuff that was on my credit report!! So how was it that they "missed" the score? The manager then proceeded to tell me, "well if you don't have co-signer or $4500 to put down, then we can't help you". I told him that I just wish they could've told me that before they wasted my time.

Bottom line is... if this place calls you to tell you that you're "pre-approved", chances are, they are lying. They are just trying to get you in there so they can control the situation and put you into a car that THEY want you to have, which is most likely overpriced and overrated. If you go there with a car in mind, make them show it to you BEFORE they have you sign a form which states that you are "obligated" (but not really) to buy a car that you'll most likely just be settling for. Chances are they won't have the car that you want anyway - that's why they won't show it to you. And always remember that the deal isn't final until they hand you the keys and the car leaves the lot - so if they DO never end up showing you the car, and you're sitting in the finance office saying to yourself "I don't really want this car that they pushed me into getting"... you still have the right to walk. If alot more people knew these things, then grimy, sleazy, scandalous dealerships like this one wouldn't be that way for long.

Yes my hubby and I also too got suckered in to this schmiel and let me tell you I do not know how these companies can get away with this crap. Something needs to be done and said to straighten them out. Don't lie to us and don't take advantage of us. Don;t get our hopes up high and then stomp on it in the end. Just who do they think they are?

Wow! So, this happens to everyone I see. I went to Bob Watson first before I went to Bob Watson MotorSports. I was turned down at Bob Watson with the same thing said that I needed $5, 000 down or a co-signer. Well, i left without a vehicle. A few weeks later Watson Motorsports started calling me two - three times a week, sending me pre-approved letters. Stating they no I was turned down at Bob Watson. So, after speaking with several sales people at Motorsports I was told the same "cockadoe" lie. That I would drive away because they new of my situation already from Bob Watson. So, to make a long story short it was a second waist of my time. They lied about being pre-approved, wanted $5, 000 with my 2005 trade in and wanted a co-signer.
Yea' rite- spread the word..Don't go there!

This is very true, I thought it was strange that they did not have a price on the cars, so when i asked the price on one particular car I got everything but the car price, this place is a hustler's paradise don't buy cars from that place.I mean dealers are dealers but my god it was the worst car experience of my life. but thanks because i walked out of their and bought a great car else where.

I fully agree. After spending 2 DAYS there and being told all the same stuff these other people were I ended up yelling at the salesman in front of all the other customers in the showrom. The salesman was so BOLD, he even came to my home at MIDNIGHT to help me get the papers signed. If I wasn't in such a need for a car, and already spent almost 48 HOURS at this DAMN place, I DEFINATELY would have never bought from them. ### customer service, sucky prices, no good deals, and a bunch of filthy liars. I did end up with a better price on my car after making a scene in the office. I made it clear that I had been there too long for this ###. But Nver Ever EVER buy from them people.

i agree they did the same thing to me, and also told me to lie to the bank when the call me and ask me how much cash did i put up, and when i told them that my phone wasn'st in my name. they told me that they know a company that will put a phone in your name for 125.00 so that the bank will know that its in my name, bottom line is that watson is full of it and the salesman there only wanna flurt with you thinking that they are gonna hook you up.

i agree with all of you and can add a couple of other dealers to the list. My brother and I went to car credit center in chicago on western and we called several times to find out what we needed to drive away in a car. We were told $500 down and license, paystubs, etc.. We came in there with those items after driving from hammond, only to find out we were only approved for an 8000 car but needed 3000 down, but they didn't have any cars there that price range total waste of time. Also World Hyundai in the Matteson Auto Mall a lady called and told me I was approved for a loan and didn't need to worry about a down payment. We drove out about an hour only to find out we needed 1000 down, talk about being lied to. I believe they need tougher laws on car dealers and what they tell potential customers. It's almost as if the people that don't really need the cars get them, and the one that do really need them can't get them.
