Want to get ripped off? then buy your next car from Daewoo Richmond. this is the biggest ripp off car dealer in richmond.

We purchased a car from them about two months ago, and after driving about 500 kilometers the car started to have major problems. Finally we found out through other dealers that they roll back the odometer on any cars they bring in from out of province or from the usa.

They would not even talk to us once they had our money and refused the warranty even though they guaranteed for three months.

Daewoo Richmond is located right next to BMW and all the cars may be cheaper but they are the biggest scam in car dealership.

Last post was 2010, and it's two years later now. Well, tell you what, I won't go into details and be criticized for making accusations, but I will say that what's been complained about in the past is still being experienced by people now, and I am truly amazed this place is still in business. Guess there are more suckers in Richmond than I thought :)

If you looked up Dave Brar the owner for SCC Motors (Daewoo Richmond), he has served 4 years jail time for drug related charges. He get fined because he doesn't even have a dealers license, but he has loads of drug money to pay for the fines.

I did buy a car from them a few years ago when I went to sell it I found that it had had two accidents...They had given me a carfax vehicle report that was fake so needless to say I was in shock when I went to trade it in at Mercedes
When I bought it the keys were screwed up plus a few minor things but I wanted the car ...I wonder if a lot of the people
went to them then because they were very very creative as far as financing goes but just try to understand your sale agreement I still wonder if I got ripped off and being a female isn't an asset but I did learn a lot for my next
car purchase, , , If you are buying a used porsche go to a porsche dealer and buy a certified car!

I also bought a car from them and have had NO problems at all! My car runs great and the service I received was exceptional. They also gave me a good price! I would definitely buy my next car there! So I am very surprised with the negative feedback I've seen here. Obviously only the unhappy customers are posting here.

I also had a very bad experience with this car dealer. It was indeed very unpleasant to do business with them. I am quite convinced that we have been cheated, deceived by their sales manager. I wish I had seen your post ealier. Perhaps we people who share the same experience can get together and find a way to reveal their atrociuos deeds, and make them go out of business so to prevent people from getting deceived by them ever again.

ACTUALLY, THIS FORUM IS OPEN TO PEOPLE WHO AGREE AND DISAGREE, IT'S UNFORTUNATE THAT YOU ALL THINK THAT AN EMPLOYEE WOULD GO ON HERE TO WRITE AN ACTUAL POSITIVE EXPERIENCE. I AM A BONAFIED CUSTOMER NOT AN EMPLOYEE, YES PEOPLE CAN ACTUALLY HAVE A POSITIVE EXPERIENCE, IT'S TOO BAD THAT YOU HAD BAD EXPERIENCES BUT DO NOT HOLD IT AGAINST THE CUSTOMERS THAT HAD GOOD EXPERIENCES. WE LIVE IN A FREE COUNTRY AND I DON'T APPRECIATE BEING ATTACKED BECAUSE I HAD A POSITIVE EXPERIENCE. IF YOU READ BEFORE RESPONDING IT ASKS YOU YOU'RE ATTITUDE TOWARDS THE "COMPLAINT" AGREE/NEUTRAL/DISAGREE. DON'T FORGET WHAT COUNTRY WE LIVE IN GO LOOK AT THE " CHARTER OF RIGHTS AND FREEDOMS" AND ALSO LOOK UP THE MVSA.

My name is Kurtis Subramani and I am speaking on behalf of Daewoo Richmond to issue a statement regarding the posts on this website.

I am the current Office Manager at this dealership and have worked for this company for the past three years. A friend of mine had searched to find our website address and told me about this forum of upset customers that had quite a few negative comments. The first post is nearly 3 months ago so I can see that this has been on the internet for quite some time. First I would like to say without contest or question that we have never or have ever had any issues of being accused of tampering with odometers on any of our vehicles. That is an illegal practice and had there been any accusations that were true we would not be operating today.

This franchise store has been open for over 7 years and with experience in the industry of over 20 years and without speaking negatively about any of our competitors we have had a good track record. Every Manager, business manager, and salesman is licensed by the Motor vehicle sales authority and uphold all the standards in customer service, contracts and overall customer experience expected from a well known established dealership. Now like any businesses there may be misunderstandings and conflicts but we as a accomplished business have always and will always do everything in our power to solve disagreements and problems with any transaction completed through our automotive dealership. Now that being said there are certain transactions that although they have been fully explained by our staff, customers may tend to neglect or fail to truly understand the stipulations of a binding contract.

One reoccurring problem I see mentioned here is warranty issues, now one simple fact that doesn't seem to get mentioned is that we are a pre-owned dealer which means the majority of our business is in the pre-owned market and tend not to sell brand new cars. When a customer purchases a brand new car from a manufacturer dealership they are entitled to a manufacturers warranty which is for the most part quite extensive in full coverage of any defects in the vehicle from time of purchase through the duration of the warranty. As a pre-owned vehicle dealership we are not legally bound to give any warranties with any vehicle we sell unless previously negotiated into the sale of the vehicle and in ALL cases we suggest the customer buy a third party warranty with their vehicle if there is no manufacturers warranty left at time of purchase. A large number of warranty companies programs are limited in the coverage of major repair and in the case of a complaint I see on this board our client with the Audi A4 misunderstood the coverage he was receiving.

Third party warranty companies are similar to the business structure of insurance companies as they play the odds in hopes of not having to have any claims for each unit and make less profit when a claim is made. Unfortunately for them that is the business they are in and there are no guarantees that a vehicle will never have any mechanical repair issues. In the case of the Audi A4 the customer purchased the vehicle from a salesman that knew him personally and he received a wholesale price on the vehicle. No vehicle warranty was implied or bought as the profit margin on this unit was quite small and the transaction was completed. After the purchase the Audi had a defective issue with the engine which resulted in major damage and in reality if the warranty had been purchased there would have been a maximum coverage of $1500. Since there was no warranty purchased the cost of repairs was put upon the owner and it was quite costly as he noted in his comment. We as a dealership tried our best to see why such major damage occurred on a fairly new vehicle and it was determined it was defect on the manufacturers product which was noted by other Audi owners. Unfortunately this client has decided to place the liability of cost of repairs on our dealership instead of the manufacturer.

We now have moved on to promoting a proven quality warranty program by the name of Coverage One that is backed by General Motors and I have seen the results as my clients have purchased this warranty and have received full coverage for repairs and more for their vehicles. We as salesman are very clear in the fact that what you are buying is a pre-owned vehicle which in essence is a mechanical system, mechanical systems are not designed to perfection and tend to have faults, if they were perfect manufacturer dealerships would lose large amounts of revenue for servicing their products. In any mechanical system regular maintenance is required to avoid any major malfunctions with the key word being AVOID. Regardless of how meticulous you are with getting your oil changes, tune-ups, and mileage servicing done it is still a mechanical system that has moving parts that can fail or wear over time at any time.

I am not a lawyer and have no reason or desire to regurgitate legal terms and liability we have for any disagreements in any transaction our dealership has completed. We as a licensed automotive dealership have done our best to find solutions or help in any way our clients that have bought vehicles from us recently or even multiple years ago. I would like to ask each of these clients that have posted on this site to please come speak to me at the dealership especially those that are recent so we can find a solution to your vehicles problems. From a legal standpoint we could give a cold shoulder to any client that unfortunately has had mechanical issues with their vehicle and has not purchased warranty but that is not good customer service and we have always offered our industry discounts and qualified repair facilities to solve these issues in a cost effective way for our customers. The simple concept here is that we are selling a vehicle for a competitive price where the profit margin is smaller compared to others which is a benefit to the customer and if no warranty is purchased how can you put liability of repairs due to defect of product or wear and tear on our business?

Some may ask why we do not include a warranty with each vehicle we sell as part of the transaction. We are one of British Columbia's top pre-owned automotive dealers for the quality of our product and the competitive prices we offer to our customers. If we applied a warranty in every car you as a consumer would be paying a higher price for the vehicle your interested in that may be in good condition and without need of the cost of a warranty on top of the price of the vehicle. This is why we offer good quality pre-owned vehicles from all makes and models that are in good working order and if imported from the US both provincially and federally inspected and let it be the customers decision if they would like a warranty on the vehicle.

In closing as for some of the accusations posted on this site we are not liars as we are bound by the Motor Vehicle Sales Authority to clearly explain every detail about the vehicle your purchasing from it's history to the structure of your finance or lease. For those customers that had opted to not buy a third party warranty if your vehicle has reasonable mileage you should be talking to the manufacturer or contact me and I will help you talk to the manufacturer about a defective product. As for us " piggy backing " on our neighbor realize we have been operating at this location for multiple years and they are new to the neighborhood. Fortunately we are authorized to sell US product that is bought directly from American dealers such as BMW North America and licensed for re-sale through the manufacturer. Any misconceptions about there being no warranty on US vehicles is false the warranty is valid as long as you are within the manufacturers limits for mileage and year and admissible to Canada. This is a benefit for you the consumer as you are receiving 10-15% discount over buying locally although there are a few "Canadian admissibility" modifications required which increases the price of the vehicle to be valid for warranty such as needing a costly replacement gauge cluster as the Miles show in larger text then the KM. This of course according to the Manufacturer is a "safety issue" and not a cash grab(hrmmm..I wonder) to have some profit to the Canadian dealer of course without mentioning the hundreds and sometime thousands of dollars in modifying certain models to "Canadian safety standards" which seem to be set by the Manufacturer dealer and not a governing body like the RIV(registrar of imported vehicles). Also we have never nor will any dealer provide financing for repairs let alone modifications on a vehicle, financing through an automotive dealership is strictly towards the purchase of a vehicle. I hope this has shed some light on these complaints and I ask all that feel cheated by our business in any way to contact me at the dealership so together we can find a solution.

Thank you for your time,
Kurtis Subramani

Purschasing a car is an investment like buying a house, and also depending on which salesman you deal with. Don't you guys go through all the documents, ie. ICBC Report/Car Fax, BC Inspection Report, Air Care Report prior to purchasing a vehicle? Talking about the car finance, some customers' credit history are very weakly poor, of course they have to take much higher interest rate, determined either by the banks or by the finance institutions. Don't you guys read through the financing documents before signing them?

Stop complaining about any dealers. Even new cars can be broke down anytime, what about the used cars? Certified USED cars from these dealers, such as BMW, MB, Honda, etc, of course will be sold in much higher prices. Why don't you guys be smart to buy a vehicle with FACTORY Power Train Warranty? then there will no longer be any controversy between dealers and customers.

I came across this complaint forum and find it peculiar that the last two posts are over the top in their praise. It seems anyone can post on here, my assumption is that either the owner or an employee. I guess a second thought is in order before I go there.

I would just like to write that my experience with Daewoo was professional and positive and I totally recommend others to purchase their vehicles there. It's too bad the previous comments think that they're cars are junk, I did NOT have that experience, my car runs great that leaves me to wonder how are you people driving your cars? They had my car inspected for me but before that offered me to get my own independant inspection done for my own piece of mind.

The finance dept is great, as well I had a great experience with them as well, they went through all the documents and explained everything to me so I knew what I was getting in to.

By the way I still take my car there to get washed...

Visit Daewoo and you will be very pleased.

These comments are bang on. I bought an Audi A4 off them. It was explained to me as on there webpage at the time, that every car purchased from them had an 6 month 11, 000 km powertrain warrenty. Powertrain was defined as engine and transmission. Less than 6 months and under the 11, 000 km, the engine broke down. They did not honour there warrenty. I had to pay another $15, 000 for a brand new engine. There warrenty page is no longer on there website. Good thing I printed it.

I went to daewoo to get financing for some upgrades to my bmw. I was told by their finance department that I was approved and to tell the shop to go ahead with the upgrades. $10, 000 later I found out that i never really had any financing. I either had to get financing from somewhere else or risk losing my car to the repair shop. I had to go to trans canada credit and pay 27% interest on %10, 000 which made my monthly payments $500. I told Dave Brar the owner about it and he ignored me and gave me the run around for 3 months. Nothing was resolved! STAY AWAY FROM THESE CROOKS ANS SWINDLERS..IF ANYONE WANTS TO START A CLASS ACTION SUIT PLEASE CONTACT ME.
