I recently had the worst cust serv of any walmart store. One week before my mom's 8oth birthday, I called from out of state and ordered 400 pieces of chicken. The order was confirmed and I was given the total due upon pickup. the day before the party I flew into town, stopped by the store to ensure no issues, . At the deli dept the mgr advised that while she had the order the day before she was off and didnt know if the chicken had been ordered, but she would call me in the morning (morning of the party) if there were an issue. I found that to be unacceptable and asked for the store mgr, ., who met with me and advised there would be no issue and the chicken would be ready. 2 hrs before pickup time, the mgr called me to say, he had good and bad news. the bad was his store didnt have the chicken as promised but that another nearby store was preparing it and I would need to pick it up there. Not only was this inconvenient and being from out of state not familiar with the other store, pick up time for the original order was just 2 hrs before party time. I was livid. the store mgr attempted to fix the issue by offering 100.00 gift card. I had no choice but to accept both giftcard and the order. the chicken was hard and half burnt and horrible. surely walmart hasnt built their rep on this type of service.

Yesterday was my birthday and my finance bought me a fish tank from walmart. When I opened the gift most of the items that were to be included were missing. We returned the tank only to have a rather ignorant customer service rep tell us that they usually don't return tanks. When I asked why they said that it had to be returned to the manufacturer. I explained to them that the box was taped and therefor one of their staff must have known that something was amiss.

They did return the tank eventually but why should customers be treated like criminals for something they had no part in...

I tried to return a Car Battery to the Wal-Mart in Madison Alabama. It was tested in their battery department and was shown to be defective. It was still in warranty and the cash register showed when the battery was scanned that they owed me a $22.90 pro-rated value. The store manager admitted to me that Wal-Mart owed me the $22.90 but then he made an arbitrary decision and refused to return the money that Wal-Mart owed me. I am furious that they can steal from their customers with impunity. The store manager smiled at me, to let me know that there was nothing I could do about it. I am a middle class person and he represents a large corporation. It is not a large sum, but a theft by a bully is still a theft.

I am about to no longer shop at Wal Mart. First off, There is an Employee that is very Rude to the customers, she does not treat them with the respect they are to be treated with. Every time I shop there she just about Throw's my bags and change at me at the end, and come to find out, a friend of mine knows this employee through some friends and she has been arrested more then one time for shop lifting. How Can Wal Mart ( a family oriented store) Hire someone like this? I have complained more then once to the manager about her and I see now that nothing will be done?

I called Walmart to inquire about a product which they did not have in stock, and was told to call a few days later when the product was available. Every time I spoke to an associate, I was put on hold for up to 10 minutes. When I complained about why I was put on hold for so long, they basically dismissed my complaint and of course put me on hold for more than 5 minutes again. I spoke to their store manager a few times, whom one was apologetic about my run around. This store needs to train their workers on their customer service skill, because they are horrible!

I paid $32.50 for a deluxe oil change and per the ticket, they checked tires, ets. My left rear tire had 20 pounds in it yet the ticket R.35? Head lights checked, but the left passenger was out.?

I have recently moved to Johnson city, tn. from neighboring Elizabethton. I transfered my rx's from the eliz. walmart to the market st. location, I live about 2 miles from the store.I've been in johnson city 2 months and I go to walmart at least 3 times a week. I will continue to get my rx's at the Market St. location( I'm still debating about this) but I will not be doing any other shopping at the market st. store. This is the most rude, unfriendly walmart store i've ever shopped in..one cashier, who never wears Id, or it's covered up by the jacket she is always wearing, she tells her customers her life story and everything that is going wrong in her life. while I'm in line I can hear her tell the people in front of me this, as well as the next person, any then me. I try to change the subject and get her to pay attention on scanning my stuff. the other cashiers don't say hi, good day, no welcome... they just start scanning. only one cashier put my bags in my buggy, the others started ring up the next person befor i could even get all my bags loaded. no thank you, come back, thank you for shopping, nothing... the floor people totally ignore you. there has only been ONE cashier that welcomed me, scanned my items, put my bags in my buggy and wished me a nice day and thanked me for shopping. she was young, about 20 or 21 and had natural red hair.
In the store in elizabehton, the greeters are friendly, the majority of the cashiers are friendly & helpful. Most of the dept. heads know be by my first name ( because I 've shopped there for so long and often ).I will be driving back to Eliz. store ( 10+ miles) or to the Food City store, that is also close to where I now live. As much as I would like to continue to shop locally at walmart, , , , when I do, i always leave upset and angry at the way I was ingnored. my e-mail: grannydeborah@yahoo.com

I bought a new game for my computer titled "Medal of Honor Limited Edition" from Walmart and was really excited about the opportunity to play this game which I had heard so much about. When I got home I discovered that I was having a very difficult time loading the game onto my computer. I spent the next day, in my limited spare time, trying to troubleshoot the download of this game only to discover that my one year old computer did not have the proper video display chipset and that it would cost me $300-$350 to upgrade my system to this more advanced display system (nVIDIA GeForce 7800 GT) after the technician purchased and installed this onto my computer. So to my dismay I went back up to Walmart and explained my dilemma only to be told that there was nothing that could be done, they were sorry but I should have had the capability to go through my system prior to purchasing this game and all they were willing to do was exchange the disc for the same disc. This was due to the fact that the disc was open. I had no idea that the game would not work prior to attempting to load this game on my computer. I understandable was fuming, how was I to know that my one year old computer was not sufficient to run this game? Do they seriously expect people with limited to no computer skills to check their system prior to purchasing a game? Needless to say the largest retail provider has permanently lost my respect and business.

I HAD BOUGHT A SHIRT LAST NIGHT AT FOR MY SONS BAND CONCERT WE HAD NOT REALIZED IT WAS NOT LONG SLEEVE. DECIDED TO RETURN IT DURING MY LUNCH HOUR . STOOD IN LINE FOR 25 MINUTES THE GUY SAYS THERE IS A 4 DOLLAR DIFFERENCE. I AGREED TO PAY THEN HE ASKED FOR ID I DIDNT HAVE ANY IT WITH ME HE SAID HE COULDN'T HELP ME! I ASKED TO TALK TO MANAGEMENT WAITED FOR A WHILE ANOTHER CO WORKER ASKED WHAT DID HE NEED AND HE TOLD HER I DIDNT HAVE AN ID. SHE SAID RUDLY OH NO YOU CANT TAKE IT . I ASKED HER SHOW ME WHERE DOES IT SAY I NEED AN ID .SHE SAYS IT NOT ON THERE. SO HOW WE AS CUSTOMERS TO KNOW WE NEEDED AN ID TO PAY THE DIFFERENCE FOR AN ITEM IA WAS NOT ASKING FOR MONEY! I WAS PAYING MORE ..FINALLY MANAGER GETS THERE AND SAYS NO TO ME...I HOPE I NEVER HAVE TO STEP IN THAT STORE AGAIN .WALMART 1310 N. TEXAS BLVD WESLACO TEXAS 78596...NOT ONLY DID I NOT GET THE SERVICE BUT DIDNT GET TO EAT LUNCH...AFTER WORK WENT TO MY FAVORITE WALMART IN ALAMO DID THE EXCHANGE AND THE PRICE WAS THE SAME WAS DONE IN 5 MINUTES .. I went to buy tires this morning. I only had enough money to buy three right now. I told the lady at the service counter this and she proceeded to look up my vehicle info. She then told me that the size I wanted could not be put on my vehicle. I told her that they are the same size that the dealer put on two years ago. She then processed the service ticket for three new tires. I went out to the service bay and gave the tech my ticket. He then went out to my truck, walked around it for a few minutes and came back and told me I had to buy all four tires or else he could not put any on my vehicle. he said it was store policy and for safety reasons. Understand that the tires that are on the front of this all wheel drive are almost bald and the rear have about 55% tread left. I said "then just put two new tires on the rear and move the other ones to the front. He told me because I have an all wheel drive I could not just replace two and I had to buy four or they would not do it.Needless to say, but some place else will be getting my money today! They have lost a loyal customer.

Bag prices increase to .25/bag. The only thing "green" in MalWart's bag policy is the CASH they are making off every paying customer, hawking necessary bags that cost them mere pennies for a quarter per bag. When the clerk told me of the increase, she justified it by saying that they are "better bags". Better?

Now... let's look at other complaints I have had with this company. Just a few weeks ago, I parked in the disabled spot near their auto center. I went in to purchase windshield wipers and to have them installed. They refused to sell them to me and told me to go outside and find "Fred" or some such name. I went elsewhere.

Here is another couple events that happened with one specific individual there. I arrived one morning. I took a cart outside and went inside. As I pushed the cart through the door, some old man grabbed it and began wrenching it from my grasp. He was yelling, saying I had to get a cart from INSIDE the store... not from outside the store. I informed him that he was a fascist little BLUE SHIRT, and a ### to boot.

On another occasion... same fascist old man. Same entrance. I was attempting to return something. I walked in the entrance and immediately stood in the returns line. Mr. Hitler got upset because I didn't go through him first. He attempted to wrench the item from my hands and I informed him that should he touch me, I would put him down. He backed off and stood there watching me, in case I tried stealing the defective item I already owned.

On yet another occasion as I was riding the electric cart since I cannot walk very well, the same fascist ran up and grabbed the steering handles, again yelling, as I attempted to take the cart filled with stuff to the car. Of course, WalMart does not allow electric carts out of the store, which makes NO SENSE WHATSOEVER since you likely will not leave the store empty-handed, and since it doesn't get any easier on disabled people once they pay for the items. I mean, it is still just as difficult getting the items out of the store and to the car, right? But no... now you have to stop... unload your cart... load all the items in yet another cart... and then walk across the parking lot. It is FAR too much trouble to have the "smiling" Nazi simply assist you to your car where he can then take possession of the electric cart... like Safeway and most other stores will do.

Ah, then there was the time I spent about $140 on a food sealer. When I got it home, I found that it had already been sold once. There were items missing from the box, and the unit did not work at all. I attempted to return it. For whatever reason, the clerk in the returns department was bound and determined to refuse to issue the credit. There were no replacements on the shelf. She wanted to issue a rain check. I refused to accept it. She raised her voice. I raised mine. I demanded to see a manager. The manager came over and I explained the situation. He asked the clerk why she was not crediting my card. She of course had no coherent answer. So, the manager got mad and told her to issue the credit, which she did in a very hostile fashion.

Every time I have an issue at WalMart, I buy fewer items every month. I will no longer go to their auto center. I no longer buy electrical items, even low priced items under say $200. I don't want the hassle of fighting with their return thugs. After today, I will not buy many things which need bags. I will go to Safeway for groceries.

WalMart, you sucketh... like no big box store sucketh before. One day, you might realize that you should not treat your customers the way you treat your employees.

I had my vision checked at Wal-Mart, Forest Drive store, Columbia, SC, on July 15, 2011. Then I proceeded to the optical side to get new lenses. A man named Tux waited on me. He took my prescription and proceeded to order my lenses, which I was having placed in my own frames (purchased at Wal-Mart in 2009). Allegedly this gentleman knew what he was doing. I needed to get these new glasses because I was going to be driving from SC to OH the first of August. I was assured that I would have them in plenty of time.
I picked up my lenses on July 26, 2011. I knew immediately that something wasn’t right. The slab off was omitted from this order. The man who served me did not know how to read the prescription. A retired DHEC employee, he was transferred from the meat department. I went to see Dr Spittler, who, though felt terrible about this, could do nothing. I am forced to wear an old pair of glasses – scratched and not the correct prescription – on my trip. I now have constant headaches and my vision is not adequate. This mistake has affected the quality of my life.
This trip – which has been in the planning for years – will be ruined. I am an author having a book signing which will be greatly adversely affected now. It is my 45th reunion which will not be as enjoyable for me now. My entire life has been damaged because this store has employed someone unqualified to read prescriptions and order glasses. I hope I can see to drive. I cannot afford at this late date to fly.
I called his supervisor, Belva McLellan, who would never understand my plight. She just kept saying that they have many happy and satisfied customers and that the man knows what he is doing. The man himself admitted to me that he ordered the wrong thing.
This time in my life can never be replaced. Shame on Wal-Mart for employing people in positions that have inadequate training for the job that they are supposed to perform. I am sick to death about this. You have ruined a big part of my life. Hopefully I will be able to make the trip without killing myself.

Tasha my mother did teach me better. As a matter of fact she said that it was good that Walmart gave me the gift card to make up for my trouble. But at that time I was so angry that I told her to shut up and made her feel bad on her birthday.

It seems that if you don't buy 4 tires at Walmart, but buy only 2 and tell them to install them on a certain position on the vehicle, they can't understand. I had 2 worn rear tires that needed replaced and told them to install the new tires on the rear and leave the good front tires alone. What do they do? They install the 2 new tires in place of the good front tires and don't do anything with the rear worn tires. Luckily, I checked before paying (as it has happened before), and told them they screwed up. They had to ask 3 times what I wanted them to do before they understood. I had to check the car again to make sure they got it right...luckily, they did. It seems that every Walmart tire department has this problem of not doing what you ask when buying only 2 tires...even though they may write it down, it doesn't get done.

Ok, let's go through this piece by piece.

1. What part of the US are you in where Walmart charges for bags? If you are talking about buying those bags you reuse, then that is your own fault for buying them. Get the pastic, free bags and recycle them.

2. My guess is that "Fred" was the certified mechanic that is the only one authorized to install things onto vehicles. My guess is they did not want you to have to buy the blades before finding out if "Fred" could install them, saving you a trip to the return counter.

3. The blue shirt trying to take back the cart that came from outside I don't understand. The only thing I can think is that if it was raining or snowing, they want you to take one from the inside that had some time to dry instead of bringing one in, getting the floor wet, and someone slipping and suing Walmart.

4. The door person has to put a sticker on the item you are returning as you walk in so the person at customer service knows it is a legit return. Having worked in retail, we had many people come in with receipts (just the receipt, no product) that would find the same item on the shelf and try and return it for a refund. You could have been refused the return without that sticker.

5. The electric carts staying in the store is just a policy so people don't leave them outside, where they are not getting charged and could be damaged due to weather. You probably would pitch a fit if you walked in to find none available and all of them were outside.

6. The employee refusing the credit, I agree with you on 100%. They should have credited you without having to get a manager involved.

My guess is that either the "blue shirt" is just a mean person in general, or you have done something to him that has made you a target. However, not getting your return stickered and taking the electrical cart out of the store problems you created. I would say go elsewhere if you are having so many problems.

Just remember, it is Walmart. They are not know for customer service or friendliness. They are known for their prices. You get what you pay for.

If you cannot afford to pay for the plastic bags, then bring your own bags. Simple as that. They can charge whatever they want for the materials they provide. The reason they don't allow the electrical carts outside is due to weather. Too much wetness or harsh temperatures can make them stop working, and they can be expensive. And your issue with the food sealer return got resolved. I'm sorry your other experiences were bad, but if what you wrote here is any indication of how you acted in the situation, you're a large part of the problem.

If you do NOT have your receipt to make a return, Walmart asks for ID so that they can log it into their system. If you make 3 returns (WITHOUT RECEIPTS) within a 12 month period, you are banned from making returns for the remainder of the 12 months. This is to deter thieves who try to return stolen goods, excessive returns, etc. I love Walmart's return policy, they will take practically anything back if you aren't satisfied. Next time, save your receipt.

You should have gone to GameStop. Usually, the people there are cool enough to return it as defective for you if you explain the situation to them. Also, the situation in your story is one of the reasons why I never shop for games at Wal-Mart (or any other mass retail store). I only get games at GameStop.

First of all, they often have those policies due to illegal copying of games and then returning them. Also, yes, it is not WalMart's responsibility to make sure your computer works. There are many sites that can check for you. This is your fault.

I have to agree. If you don't even have an Nvidia 7800 your computer is more than a year old, or you got a ### one year old computer. It's on you buddy, this complaint should be removed due to ignorance of the OP.

I wouldn't shop at that store either. Try other stores in your area that focus on service versus price. You will pay a little more but it sounds like it will be worth it for you.

I think if it is like I have read in many blogs saying " oh the employees are under paid and mistreated etc etc" then they should stop working there. But if you are going to work there do a good job cause it is not the customer's fault that they don't like their job or are having a bad life or just plain don't want to work. If you don't want to work call in sick or quit. But, don't take it out on the customers that have nothing to do with any of the employees issues.

I suggest that you call the 800 # on your receipt. That # will
get you results. A customer at the store I worked in did this and
the department manager lost his position. You do need to get
there name if it isn't on your receipt also keep the receipt for
the store # and address.

This is not in accordance with thier store policy. The only things they should have asked you is 1. do you have your receipt? and 2. is there anything wrong with this item? You should have pointed that out to the ignorant employee.

I had a bad experience about 6 wks ago with the automotive dept at a Walmart in Wichita, KS. I took my car in for an oil change to get ready to visit the inlaws in Texas. Well, when I got my car back, it made a strange noise. I later understood that it was idling much higher than it did when I brought it in. I called them and they didn't offer to check it out or anything. So I took it to my Dad, and after he lifted the hood right away there were 2 things disconnected! One was a wire that went to where the air filter went. Evidently they didn't reconnect it after they changed it. There was another wire that was not connected also. So my Dad fixed it and then I got on the phone with the manager and told him that he needs to inform his staff to be more diligent in checking their work before sending a car out the door. Later after conversing with friends about the ordeal, I came to find out that the mechanics at Walmart are not experienced or trained professionally to work there. Walmart hires anyone who wants to do oil changes and trains them to do to do oil changes and tires. I also discovered that a friend of mines transmission was ruined by them as well and it took nearly a year to get Walmart to pay for it! Needless to say, I will not be taking any of our cars to Walmart ever again!

First of all even if the battery tested bad you wouldn't get your money back. You would only get the pro rated amount credited toward the purpse of a new battery.

You never get good service there. And lots of the items there are in bad shape. Too many people try to run scams at Walmart too. Trying to return used things, stolen things, and old things.

I just don't shop there anymore.

I have been a Wal-Mart shopper for the greater part of 10 years and have many friends and family members that will not shop "Wal-Mart" for a variety of reasons. I choose not to boycott Wal-Mart at this time as I too am in need of what my superstore is provides. I find that the standard of service needs to be addressed by each individual store and Management needs to control the quality of service and be held responsible for poor service records. I believe Management and Supervisory staff may be to blame for the many pitfalls. As I see it the general job responsibility of a Wal-Mart staffer is to stock the shelves, be a cashier, attend to the phone/dressing rooms and keep the place clean and organized. It seems like a pretty generalized job description to me, however staffers are continually engaging in conversations about fellow workers, management, job duties, schedules and so on. This behavior is tolerated and no member of a Wal-Mart Management team can tell me otherwise. The same disgruntled staffers are at my store year after year. It makes it difficult if not impossible for a new culture of staffers to pave the way for a new criteria of service. They come in and most likely are not allowed to be supportive of one another or let alone helpful to a consumer. Wal-Mart needs to rid themselves of the cancers within the organization. I know it is hard to find staffers but I live in a highly populated area where finding help is abundant, so I ask myself after every distasteful shopping experience why does that staffer still have a job and who Manages this place?. Overall my local store is clean, the shelves are well stocked and the prices are what they should be from a buying giant like Wal-Mart but they need a disclaimer at the door apologizing in advance for the behavior of their staff members. I realize some staffers are over worked, under paid and in some cases under educated but the time has come for consumers to not tolerate the blatant verbal abuse spewed by Wal-mart staffers when all want to do is buy your stuff and get out. I am not a consumer who needs help finding things or needs to be asked at the register, "Did You Find Everything"? What should my answer be at this point? I have already unloaded 15 conveyor feet of stuff before I even get to see the cashier's face. This is the lamest question ever and somewhere some smug member of the Management team thinks his/her job is over because they are creating a gesture by having their staff ask this all so irritating question. So bottom line everyone, we need to stop acting like Wal-Mart and other discount stores are doing "us" a favor and start by demanding better service by our local stores and retailers. This next time I would like to shop without leaving and shaking my head and having my co-consumers doing the same.
