On March 28, 2009 while shopping at the local wal-mart with my sister and three children my son was approached and asked to show an unidentified employee what he had in his pockets. He was approached in a aggressive way. My son is 11 years old and now is afraid to come with me into the walmart. My son had taken some free pamphlets that said 'Take One' on the box and they were also visibly sticking out of his pockets. I do not think anyone has the right to approach a child and ask them to show what is in their pockets especially if the child is in the store with his/her parents. I filed a complaint and claims management says that they cannot fine anything that Walmart did that was neglectful. I would like to ask a question. WQOULD ANYONE READING THIS BE ALRIGHT WITH THIS HAPPENING TO THEIR CHILD? I would have liked an apology given to my son. The clerk who did not have a name tag or uniform on currently still works there just as if nothing has happened.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
Walmart sucks as ai experienced 1st hand. I went in last night to return a battery charger in a Walmart bag. Seeing there's line at the returns desk I went to walk around the store for 20 minutes to pick up ay items I may need. I picked up 3 items. Initially just 2 items carrying them in my hand. Then I got tired and stuck them inside the plastic bag knowing I'd pay for them the same time I do the return. Same with the 3rd item. The 3 items totalled less than $5. After I did the return and purchase with Tobathia at the Branchburg Walmart and walked out the door, the LP stopped me and said he saw me taken stuffs that I didn't pay for then checked my receipt and items. Despite explaining to him what happened, he was rude and told me I violated section xxxx of the store policy. I should've said he violated my civil rights and was profiling an minority. Ht imbarrased me in front of my father in law and other customers. I said to him what ever and left. These white deuch bags have no decency to apologize when they make a mistake.
The best place to hurt them is in the pocket book, take it as far as you possibly can. I was just accused of shoplifting at Walmart, detained, and then got and I'm sorry when they knew they were wrong. They accused me of taking a vacuum off the shelf and then returning it. l I had actually purchased one for my son a few days ago and he told me he didn't want it, he just got one from his girlfriends parents. So...I took it back and while walking through the store I decided to look at a couple more to see if I wanted to exchange it for a big one for myself or just return it. I was tired and decided to just return it and come back another day to buy one for myself. Well, returned it and they were astounded that it wasn't "used". Well, I don't usually return used items unless they are broken and I just told the sales gal I never even opened the box, and had a receipt with the vacuum being paid for with my debit card. AS I was leaving a security person flashes his badge and in front of a huge amount of people takes me into some sort of holding room and would not let me leave. I told him the story and DEMANDED he look on his surveillance tapes to see me coming in. I also told him I spoke to the security guard at the entrance I came in at and that I told her "I just have a quick return". I was only in the store for about 15 minutes and most of that time was waiting in line at customer service where you return items. The security person refused to talk to the security guard that saw me come in, he wanted to see it on tape, It took almost 2 hours for him to find the correct camera, and then when he saw me come in with the vacuum, he just said I am sorry you are free to go. I am so shook up over this that I am not sure how to proceed. I happen to have a very good attorney and will call him tomorrow. I realize that life is much harsher than this, but this is a corporation noted for treating people bad. I think it is time to hold them accountable. It takes energy and follow up, but if no one does anything it will just get worse. l I personally, will never step foot in Walmart again. I am leaving out parts of the story for sake of not writing a novel where the guy also kept saying that I came in with out a cart and vacuum. I did because I forgot the vacuum in the car the first go around, as I say, I am a senior citizen and I didn't feel well, just wanted to get a bag of cat food, return the vacuum and get home. The guy kept replaying me coming in the first time and saying it was not the same video footage. That was the scariest part, I had to really yell at him and get on my feet and stand over him to get him to back the footage up even further. The entire thing was horrible. Then when I asked for his card, he said he didn't have one, he wrote his name and his bosses number on piece of paper for me. He dialed his boss RIGHT in front of me and as I was walking away I heard him say, "we have a problem". I may or not be able to do much, but I will certainly give it my all, including going to the local paper and news station. You bet, I hope anyone treated badly does also. they treat their employees as bad as ever. They make them go to the local counties for medical coverage-so it comes out of our taxes, they pay minimum wage, it is just terrible. I shouldn't have ever shopped there in the first place, but now that I have and have been treated that way, I am not about to will let it drop.
WHY would any American shop at walmart? Chinese, drunk owners, low IQ management, liars, crooks, and general low life's.
Stay away from walmart everywhere.
Walmart just accused me of stealing a vacuum that I brought into the store to return. I went to the vacuum area to see if they had a bigger one to exchange it for and they did not (of course) so I went to the counter to just return it and as I was leaving the store a cop stopped me and they held me for 2 hours while they verified the surveillance camera and finally saw that I did indeed bring it into the store. They wouldn't take my word for it and they refused to go talk to the security lady at the entrance I came in who saw me bring it in, in fact I made a point of saying hello to her and saying, "I just have a return" so that I would be safe. They kept me for 2 hours and then said, oh, sorry. I was humiliated, upset to the max, and am just beside myself. I have never been arrested for shoplifting because I AM NOT A THIEF, and I am a senior citizen and a woman.>
I was accused of stealing a car battery at Walmart, , , , , I went in and got the battery and other items I went to cash out, , , , I put everything on the counter except the battery because it was heavy and cashier said I got the battery so I proceed to check out as I was walking out I was stopped by 3 people, they rudely said come with me and walked to a back office and said they were following me through the store the whole time, , , I told them it was a mistake and offered to pay for the battery that was not charged on my receipt and they said no..NOW they are pressing charges and I couldn't even defend myself ...I am so distraught over the situation...can't eat or sleep.
i don't know what to think, its a catch 22 it seems like, my 17 year old was caught returning items that was on a receipt, they gave her the refund, but the guy that coached her in the store, but stuff in the basket that was on the receipt, was already known for this, getting other girls to do this, when she went to get the refund, he had already left the building, and the police was already waiting on her outside.they took her picture put in the paper, took her to adult jail, did not contact me or her father, we found out from paper.So, now i have received a letter for them to sue ME as her guardian, but they didn't contact me as HER GUARDIAN! i work at Walmart and i have been accused of stealing money i told them i didnt do it..I dont know how they can accuse me i am not the only person running the cash register in our department..i do remember one day a csm asked me for my password i didnt know why she did that but i gave it to her..i really think i am beeing set up is there anything i can do to prove i didnt do it ?help would be appreciated... thanks,
i was falsely accused of stealing a pair of shoes when i had them on trying them out cuz i got so many bad shoes from wal mart i was not event outside the doors and he accused me of stealing i got a 176 dollar ticket paid it cuz i knew if i went to court walmart would win u know money over matter the judge would rule in their favor even though i wasnt outside the doors i should of just floored him and beat the f*** out of him their not suppose to touch u and he grabbed my arm and said he needed his shoes back i hope they get sued once again how many times do they have to be sued before they learn?
First of all, I don't give a damn what a Wal-Mart employee calls it. Someone approaches my kid, they better be really quick with a damn good reason that I'm satisfied with or they are going to find themselves at the business end of a knuckle sandwich. I'd truly, truly hate for any child to be treated as a suspect for taking something that was (A) FREE and (B) ADVERTISED TO BE FREE!
Just goes to show why our youth is so freaking depressed and angry all the damn time. There are far too many adults who have no business being around children in the first place, trying to find something wrong with everyone else's children.
Attention Wal-Mart Employees: Approach my kid the same way you approached that kid... be ready with a damn good reason that will satisfy me or you will need to allow my satisfication to be reached by kicking your ###!
What they did was wrong. I work at wal-mart and we practice what is called aggressive hospitality. we follow, and ask if you need help. We do not go directly up and ask to see what's in their pockets...
The person should have approached the parent and taken them to a private spot.
Asking someone to reveal what's in their pocket isn't being accused of stealing, it's being asked. Every US Walmart I've ever been in asks to see your receipt and your bag of purchases as you leave the store. That smacks of treating customers like shoplifters, but it seems to be prevalent in most of them, so it is apparently some sort of store policy. We've never had that in our Walmarts in Canada - none I've run across.
You might try contacting the Walmart head office, giving the date and time, store location etc. I don't know if it will help, but you never.
