I was shopping in the Flora Illinois Walmart @ 8 pm Thursday December 24, Christmas eve.
I had been in the store shopping approximately 30 minutes. I had about $50.00 worth of merchandise in my cart, and was headed to the checkout.

Over the P.A. the announcement was made that the store would be closing in 5 minutes.
Although this seemed like short notice, I had completed all my shopping and was approaching the checkout anyway.
After less than 2 minutes had passed, a store employee approached me saying "you have to check out now, we are closing." I informed the employee that i was going to the check out. Another employee accosted me, rudely stating, "you have to check out now, we are closing."

As I moved within 50 feet of the check out I was again told by another employee, that I must check out immediately. Another shopper behind me was also rudely harassed in a like manner.

When I was within 20 feet of the check out I was again approached, and very rudely told "you have to check out now, we are closing." By this time I had been accosted rudely by 6 employees within a 3 minute period while going to the checkout.

Finally, I had been mistreated enough and told the store employee that they could keep their merchandise.
At the door was the store Manager Eric. I complained nicely to him, and was told, that they had families that they needed to get to. He rudely kept repeating "merry Christmas sir."

It is understandable that the store would close for Christmas eve early. It would be ok to make a 15 or 30 minute closing announcement, but this didn't happen. Myself and other customers met outside and all related having been treated rudely and without respect.

I have joined a local and nationwide boycott of Walmart, and advise others to also. Eighty percent of Walmart's stock comes from China and costs American jobs. If you want to help America's economic restoration... don't shop at Walmart... let them be rude, and keep their inferior junk!

Apparently you cannot read. The store announcement was that the store would close in 5 minutes. No customer needs to be harassed this way. I have been a retail manager for several years, and would never treat customers this way. It is ridiculous to announce a store closing in five minutes anyway, but then not to allow 5 minutes is poor customer service to say the least.
The reason Walmart makes "record Profits" is because it uses cheap Chinese labor and sells junk to Americans, taking American jobs.
You don't know what you are talking about that the employees didn't know I had gotten the word, because they treated everyone else with the same disrespect. You were not there and obviously don't know what you are talking about.
Your statement about planning shopping is stupid. No paying customer should ever be treated rudely under any circumstances. I have been in many stores where they make a 15 or 30 minute announcement. This store made a 5 minute announcement and didn't even honor that.
You should probably not comment on situations you know something about, not being there, you obviously have no knowledge of what happened.

Your stupid comments said I didn't have decency towards Walmart employees, but I was at the checkout to pay for my items. You are probably one of Walmarts door greeters yourself, and not capable of having a real job.

Since you weren't there, you are unqualified to comment, and obviously have no idea what you are talking about.

You obviously were not present, have no idea what happened, and are ignorantly commenting on something you know nothing about.

It is interesting that you also contradict yourself now saying that Walmart does indeed sell junk. Maybe you have a difficult time even understanding your own point, let alone the point of someone else.
Maybe once you get your meds straight you might be able to choose one opinion and stay with it?

I am not in a tizzy at all, and could care less if you agree or not. Since you weren't there you have no way to relate in anything but your obvious ignorance.
You most certainly do contradict yourself by stating in your former incoherent rambling that Walmart sells junk. It is hard to discuss something with someone who can't even track his own ignorant thought process.
In reply to your ignorant question, if you could read you would have known that I was previously in the store for over 30 minutes prior to the 5 minute announcement. You might learn to read and actually absorb what you read before making foolish comments.

The rest of your diatribe is equally as ignorant and irrelevant. Your incoherent rambling about nationalism and China are totally irrelevant.
Try reading (or learning to) before commenting and your comments might makes some sense. The case was plainly made that I and othesr were in the store over 30 minutes prior to the 5 minute announcement.
The other customers in the store at the time were equally as outraged because of the poor treatment.

What you say does accidentally have a small smidgen of truth in it, re: globalism. The reason America is failing economically is because it has settled for garbage and poor service instead of excellence.

Maybe you might me able to get some remedial reading classes, because you apparently are not able to read and comprehend what others say.

You need more assistance than I can give you here. The truth is that poor customer is poor customer service, no matter what you believe. You were not there and are therefore unqualified to comment on what happened.

I appreciate your vast knowledge of global economics, but you are still incorrect.
I made a complaint about a particular Walmart store, not about you. Since you were not there, do not know what happened, and are not Walmart this doesn't concern you. Have a nice holiday. Quite frankly, I don't have the time to continue your silly word pong. I sincerely hope you also find some better way to spend your time.

DUH, sorry you cannot seem to comprehend that customers were not given 5 minutes... sorry you are unable to understand something so simple.
The announcement said that shoppers had 5 minutes to bring their items to the check out. I am sorry you cannot understand something so simple...again I repeat DUH!

If you lack the ability to concentrate on something like shopping for an hour, it certainly seems to explain why you have such an obvious comprehension challenge. DUH.

It is amazing that so many people comment onthe experience of someone else.
This site is called "complaints board" for a purpose, to register complaints.
If it had been a discussion forum it would have been entitled such.
It is obvious that those responding to my complaint don't even know what they are doing, because they are in the improper venue for a discussion.

There is no reason to defend WalMart. If you are happy with your experience at Walmart, continue to shop there. Your time might be better spent in dealing with your own lives, rather than minding the business of others.

There are many sites designed for you to practice your eloquent discussion skills, this is not one of them.
Whether you agree or disagree with my assessment pf my experience at Walmart is irrelevant.
Find a discussion forum and blow of all you want.
My complaint was regarding Walmart, and is the business of no one else. Complaints here are complaints, not an invitation for discussion by uninvolved people.

Unless you were at this particular Walmart and experienced the same treatment, this is really none of your business.
To make a long story short: get a life!

Update on Walmart Complaint!
District Manager frpm Walmart contacted me. He assured me that it is not the practice of Walmart to close a store in this manner. He was very apologetic, and gave me his direct number in case of any problems in the future. I was also told that he would deal with local management personally.
Walmart also sent me a sizable gift card to compensate.
The truth is that companies do not gain from improper customer service. There should never be a time when we offer less than excellence, or expect less when it comes to customer service.

For those of you who defended Walmart (or thought you were) you are part of the problem. I am happy with Walmart's handling of the situation.
For those of you who criticized me for wanting excellent customer service you are wrong. First of all, this is a complaint forum, not a discussion forum... apparently you don't know the difference.

Having been a Manager I know that customer service can make the difference between a store's success or failure. If you really liked Walmart, you would insist on quality customer service.
Since Walmart has graciously settled this matter, I have no more complaint, and will no longer answer your replies.
In my absence, you can continue to call me names and reflect your immense ignorance as you have previously. Enjoy yourself.

Not that it is any of your business, but I donated the card to a very needy family. You all should consider expanding your lives, as this is a long closed issue.
Repeatedly calling derogatory names only indicates your lack of basic social skills and your ignorance.

It would be a good suggestion if some of you were to look back over your comments and consider your method of communicating. When you repeatedly just name call and say demeaning things it damages your position.
It is one thing to stick your nose in the business of others, but then to become abusive is a sign of some basic instability.
Some of you have made very caustic and slanderous remarks, think about this. You have entered yourself into something that doesn't concern you, and then made a mini war out of it. The truth is that no one should ever settle for less than excellent customer service no matter where they shop, or what the circumstances, and Walmart agrees.
The reason many U.S. jobs have left is the diminshed work ethic in this country. Many of you have adequately displayed the mentality of people who want something for nothing. When prices are high, good customer service is all that we have to offer our customers.
So, you have shown yourself to be a group of people who cannot mind their own business, have a poor work ethic, and despise good business practices.
Hopefully and apparently Walmart has better management than some of you commenting here.
If one wonders why America is failing economically, all they have to do is to read your comments.
Lazy people (as yourselves) produce little and require little. Because you are lazy you have time to comment on something that doesn't concern you, and ignorantly call names.
The U.S. was built on ethics and excellence, people who produce and demand less are what is ruining the nation.
Your attitude is that cause of the decline of America. America will only rebound when it's people rebound.

You have crooked politicians because you allow it, just like you allow less than excellent business performance.
Go on and compose your drivel. I have a friend who is a college professor and he is copying your replies. He is using them in his economics classes to show what has happened to our once great economy.

You are doing the next generation a great service in showing them what it has taken to destroy the economy of the greatest nation on earth.

They are seeing that the consumer and worker can do more damage to the economy than a foreign source or even government waste could ever do. One student stated in his return blog "ignorant and lazy people like this have destroyed the American economy... it's that simple."

I went to the vision center at the Walmart in Woodriver IL the associate that waited on me was very rude and disrespectful. She would go to the other associate and smile and laugh at each other. I felt very uncomfortable at this vision center. I will never go there again. The associate that waited on me was Amanada Marburger I don't understand why she had a job there, specially if she makes all her customers uncomfortable like she did me.

We have been a hostess supporter for 60* years and when I purchased a box of the red velvet cup cakes I was so disappointed. Although the cake is fresh and taste good the icing is so thin you can the cake is showing through. The Picture on the package shows a generous amount of icing and that was the reason we purchased. When we opened the box it was a shock as there is very LITTLE icing on these cakes. :(

Ordered a computer online, about 4 hours after order got an email telling me they had cancelled the order because they could not verify my address. I have had this credit card since 1984. I have live in the same place since 1994. Called customer service, supposedly resolved, we shall see!

Almost a year later I would like to make sure that you will not be shopping at the Flora Walmart this Xmas Eve at 8:00 pm or if you were true to your word on boycotting your local Walmart store all year. You see, last Xmas Eve I was waiting in the car in the parking lot for my family member who is a Walmart employee to get off of work so we could drive through the night to be with our family for Xmas morning. This is the only holiday day where Walmart associates in Flora can actually be off at 8 pm instead of the normal closing time of midnight so they can spend what little time they have with family on Xmas. Unless it was another Scrooge who met up in the pow wow outside, I was informed the hold up on us hittin the road was because a man and his son were very upset at being told to check out since the store was closing. The son tossed a bunch of magazines on the floor and then the man started yelling and swearing at the store manager. The store manager wished this man a Merry Xmas and just let the man yell at him to his face. There was a family near this yelling match with younger children and the mother was about to jump down the man's throat as he was blatantly swearing in front of the kids. Whoever this was who can react like this in public and cause such a scene for the most idiotic thing such as being told too many times that they have to check out is insane! I would just like to thank whoever this person is that caused such a crazy scene on Xmas Eve for the most classic and prime example of the disgruntled Walmart shopper! =) FYI There were signs on the entrance doors stating they closed at 8:00 pm.

I think that when you posted your complaint about the experience you had, you expected to get a lot of sympathy. Since you didn't, you are lashing out at anybody who posts a negative vote. After seeing you get this defensive, and childish, I can just imagine how you acted to the store manager. I bet it wasn't the 'politely complain' you said. Geez, you knew what time they closing, didn't you know you only had 30 minutes to shop?

All you people who complain about Walmart. Email your complains to BBB at bbb.com. I see thousands of complains in sites that Walmart could not care less about and one complain to BBB WILL be answered. Regardless on how big the company is, ther credit rating in bbb effects their credibility. Hit this small business killer where it hurts.
Their credit rating is A+ and this is the same company that used the slogan " We buy American, We sell American" for years. Remember that?

All your complains WILL be answered only if you submit to BBB. Walmart executives are not stupit, they have been counting on the normal Joe's stupidity for years.

So we employees are supposed to be your slaves and stay extra long because you cant move your ### a little faster? fine boycott walmart but guess what. nobody's gunna listen to you ... why you say? because 1. We offer service that NOBODY else does "Price match" and normally even without the add you can price match anything you want as long as it sounds reasonable and isnt like half off. and 2. We are always friendly to customers and greet them warmly and wish them happy hollidays.. i hereby end my speech with a Tell it to my ### because it's the only thing that gives a ### sir!

It's rude to tell you to checkout?

It's their job to "sweep" the stores and get the customers to the front end SO THE EMPLOYEES CAN THEN BEGIN THEIR FREE TIME - especially on holiday eves.

This Wal-Mart thing isn't really something to get so hyped up about, in my opinion; they're employees just doing their job, annoyingly/rudely done or not. If you found it that pestering, then I can see why you wouldn't want to shop there again.
However, leaving without buying what you needed "after all you went through" was a total waste of time, and the fact that you called and complained until you got an apologetic giftcard from the manager to go to the place you were/are so outraged with in the first place is nothing less than hypocritical.
Also, it's kind of strange that you were shopping that late at night on Christmas Eve NOT in a hurry.

For the love of all that is logical in the minds of all you differant-minded, wise individuals, from here on out, let's try to comment on the actual complaint. 'cause it honestly would make a lot more sense... atleast you'd be ADMITTING to everyone that you clearly think that being rich makes you better than everyone in every way and therefore can talk like a narcissistic woman with no respect for those of the possible "lower class" (which, by the way, is simply pathetic to do when in America)
As for your "knowledge, " why don't you use it wisely as much as possible instead of wasting even an ounce of it on something that won't merit you (or others) in any way? I mean, you're 45! Wow. You are a stupid, stuck up ###. Why in the hell would Wal Mart open up for just one customer on Thanksgiving? It goes against their policy. You are wrong for even being mad about it.

Also, if you make 90k a year, why would you need a giftcard or gas money? I guess we can add greedy to the long list of things we think you are. :)

I worked at WalMart on Christmas Eve and any customers that came into the store BEFORE close, had a right to finish their shopping even AFTER the store was closed. They should not have bombarded you like that. Out of all the jobs I had (which I had to work Christmas Eve on every one) I always got out within 10-20 minutes of closing, so those people should chill out and not have bombarded you like that!

Put yourself in the employees shoes and think about others for once. Nobody's perfect and the manager gave you a reason, they wanted to get home to their families. If you correctly read my post it stated that everyone needs to be respectful of other and basically not act like a five year old like you are continually acting like by calling people names and putting them down. So how much do you get paid to go on all of these complaints in the attempt to harass people? I see you have posted over 3000 comments since you became a member in 2010. People do have a right to exercise free speech but when you go off topic like you have been it doesn't make you look very intelligent especially since you keep saying the same things over and over again. If you didn't notice the topic is about Wal-Mart and how rude they were too many people on Christmas Eve. Customer service should be number one to Wal-Mart but they are all about the money. Now if you have a comment about that I would like to here and will be glad to respond to that, other than that if you insist on acting like a child and attempt to harass people any discussions on this post with you will be ceased as I have better things to do with my day them engage in a useless discussion off topic!

Wow, you all are petty and very ignorant. This person was attempting to make a legitimate complaint, and people like Brenda and Foxfire feel it is their place to publicly harass and attempt to intimidate people for what they feel and have experienced. Even Webster dictionary makes mistakes, as a matter of fact 64 last time it was printed. Last time I check everyone has a right to their opinion and to make fun or put one down for that is stupidity! The discussion here is about Wal-Mart and how it mistreats people. If you can’t talk about that then don’t say anything at all. Wal-Mart sucks ###, so get over it!

and to just throw in there; a few years ago i was shopping for clothes with my buddies in wal mart, and i had picked up a scarf priced at $1.99, i put it around my neck for one of my girlfriends to take a photo of and just continued to walk around the store with it around my neck cause i planned on buying it. well we were in the store for so long and we had soo many items in our cart i had forgotten about the scarf when we were in the check out line purchasing over $120 worth of clothes! so as im walking out of the store, a woman in blue jeans and a black sweater forcefully yanked me back by the scarf! as i turned around, i noticed it was a security personnel! she asked where i was going with the scarf and i laughed and said "ooops i forgot to pay! im sorry ill just go back to the checkout line, but first im going to go speak with your manager for the way you just placed your hands on me" and she refused to let me go anywhere, threatening she would call the police if i didn't follow her to the security office to fill out some paper work! in the security office, the woman along with two other men interrogated for a good 15 minutes or so, and continuously accused me of trying to steal the scarf. i began to angry as i tried to convince them by showing them that i had purchased items with me and even more cash to spend in my pocket, i even tried to call my father and they tried to make me hand over my cell phone! i refused and sat there guarding my cell phone and staying silent, not responding to any of their accusations. once the manager came in, i stood up furiated and told the woman that if they didn't release me at that moment i would call the police and let them know the way the security woman had put her hands on me. i was released, and still to this day it makes me upset, i regret not notifying the police of their harsh actions! and everytime i go into wal mart 9 times out of 10 i always see that dumb indian security guard wearing jeans and a ratty black sweatshirt, walking around acting like hes not looking for anything. and every time he gets within a 10 foot radius of me (i know it ### but) i turn around and get mouthy with him! thats ### of HIM to follow me around that way! i hate going in there! i hate it! that ### hole dont think i dont know who he is?! wal mart sucks..

I completely agree! First of all; who cares if you were last minute shopping? Wal Mart wouldn't of been open if it didn't want to welcome last minute shoppers! You DID have until that 5 minutes was up.. granted the employees were doing their job, but they should have been more polite. Even more so, the manager should have taken action on your complaint! I can very well see why you are disappointed. But no offense, I think Illinois people are just rude in general :/ (sorry) But, anyways, don't listen to people, you have every reason to be HIGHLY unsatisfied with the service you received that evening! I'd be pissed too!

Since Sam Walton died, his company has become the spawning pit of Hell itself. His kids are not only communists, they dont care about anything or anybody except thier money.

Sam Walton tried hard to buy American products for American people.
His evil kids buy the cheapest crap from OTHER countries. You wont find anything from America in a WalMart store nowdays.

Most of thier employees are lowlifes, con-artists, and hate-mongers...they couldnt care less about you. Hell, you can walk out the front door with stuff, and those "door checkers" dont even bat an eye at you! Damn, what an easy paycheck that job is! WalMart employees IGNORE customers, RUN customers over with dollies, pallet jacks, and baskets, and RUN to the rear of the buiding if you ask for help, or just totally IGNORE you altogether.

Regardless of what time it is, where you are at in the store, or anything like that...theres no reason for WalMart employees to be as nasty, hateful, and rude as they are.

The ONLY way to punish companies such as this, including the phone companies and other such companies, is to simply NOT shop with them...EVER.

WALMART IS EVIL! DONT SHOP THERE!

I think Riesling might make more sense there, but I'm sure Clive Cussler up there has things under control. I enjoy all of your speculation as to my financial and social status. Rather than enumerating all the reasons I have listed, I would encourage you to read the above thread. You will also notice that on the Sam's Club thread I included a picture of the item in question. Of course, that just couldn't be the item they were talking about! They probably shipped a special item to that store, and that store only! That makes a lot of sense.
