Walgreens rude employees

I went inside Walgreens today (April 23, 2011) with my friend to look around the Easter section to see what they had that would be good to use tomorrow. As me and my friend are walking threw a store we see a 2 lb. chocolate bunny. So we are walking threw the make up section, there was a check out stand in the middle of the store which had a employee who heard our conversation. We were talking about a guy who stole a 10 lb. chocolate bunny from Target and how it took them 2 months before they noticed that it was gone. The employee immediatly called security from the employees only section, telling them " There is 2 stupid, young, little girls who are causing problems in the make up section. Please guard all isles." And then a African-American lady who had nothing to do with the issue between my friend, me, and the employee decided she should butt in. The lady and employee both began telling us, " We dont provide services to minors here. Dont come back without an adult." (my friend and i are 12 & 13 years old.) So as we are walking torwards the entrance some old lady looking threw a bucket of hand sanatizers had finally spoken up " Unbelevable." is all she had to say then she stared at the employee and lady standing at the register like they should be ashamed. I told my friend as we walked out that i thought the whole event is ###ed. so the black lady yells at me to stop sassing her and that i shouldnt be sassy. I sware to everybody nobody in the Sims family(me) and the Muniz family (my friend) will ever shop at any Walgreens ever again! All of this happened at the Walgreens of of Ming Ave. And Stine Rd. Whether im friends with you or not if u ever asked me if Walgreens was a good store or not i would tell you yhat i feel that it has; the rudist employees, not fully sealed food, and from time to time you will find that some of the make up will be half empty. I will NEVER enter that store again.

My family and I spend a lot of money at this particular store but now everytime my mom, sister or I try to shop there, we get harrassed, followed, or lectured from a rude employee. More than once we attempt to take make-up off the shelf with intent to purchase it when the other items are collected first, only to be followed or pressured to pay at the cosmetic counter no matter what. The most recent incident was when my sister was waiting behind another customer that was using the photo machine. She was waiting patiently and wasn't doing anything wrong. The woman behind photo who has been there years (Kellee or Kelly?) asked if she was with the woman. My sister stated no, that she was just waiting for her turn. The employee then stated rudely and outloud so others could hear, "Well then you need to BACK-UP and give her space and wait your turn. There is another machine to use too (it was also taken up by another customer), or YOU CAN JUST go home and do it online instead." When all of this was said, I was waiting in line for a long time in pharmacy to try to save time to pick up my grandmothers prescription while my sister was waiting for a machine. When I walked back to her, she was very embarrassed and her feelings were hurt when she told me what just happened. Now being an employee at Safeway, we take pride in treating customers kind and it really made me mad to hear that she said to my sister. I almost felt like telling her off but instead being the quite person I am (don't like causing scenes). When the customer left the machine, the screen was black. I asked the employee if it was free and she snapped at me, "NO, it has to be rebooted." Then she puts a little sign on it (for just us I assume) that said, 'Do not touch'. Then ended up taking it down 30 seconds later when the machine came back on. Talk about insulting! I'm 26, not 6! So finally we were able to get done what we needed and left.

But thats not all... so a few hours later I came back with my boyfriend to pick up the printed photos. The same employee helped me and while I was taking my wallet out to pay, my cell phone started to ring. Being polite I ignored it because I feel its rude to talk on a phone while your at the counter paying. She said to me, "You better answer that phone before I beat it." That was the last straw. I took my merchandise and left. I will no longer shop at this store if I can avoid it. This employee is very rude and unprofessional. Apparantly she has been working there TOO long.

Yeah. A store doesn't have to cater to a couple of children. And I'm sure your threats of "never coming here again" didn't phase them. Grow up, learn some respect, and stop being a spoiled child. You'll go a little farther in life.

Why would you speak about unnoticed theft when you're wandering through a store? It's pretty suspicious. They didn't handle it properly, but they were right to be weary of you.

Working for Walgreens as a photo specialist I feel embarrassed that a fellow photo tech acted that way. I would never treat a customer like that. On a side note cosmetics is the only department that can actually be terminated if their sales are not kept at a certain percentage. They didn't mean any harm by pressuring you into ringing out with them it's just because their jobs literally rely on every piece of product they sell.

You seriously need to speak to a manager the next time you go in; photo techs are NOT irreplaceable, but customers are priceless. I'd go in before 5pm monday through friday and ask to speak to the store manager. If the store manager isn't there then ask for the district office's phone number. There is no reason for you to ever be treated like that at walgreens.

Walgreens 3000 cash drawing

I enter into this drawing regularly, and although i havnt won, I wonder does anyone win and who and where are they. If this is a national contest are the winners located anywhere in the USA, or are they locally it would be nice to see picture of these winners. Im believing this is truly a hoaz just to get people to anwser there survey questions. Walgreens although a very good place for medication, not there clear at all regarding the cash sweepstake, I want to know if there is and end date, i want to know if sweepstakes are for each and every state. but if this is a national 1time drawing, then im out who wants to enter a sweepstakes knowing they are 1 in 6 million drawing.

It's a national drawing. I know I'm late, but to answer the question for anyone else who's wondering, it's not state-by-state. It's national. If you go into a Walgreens location, they should have a list of winners.

Walgreens treated poorly/ discriminated against

i have worked for walgreens for almost 5 yrs yesterday was the first time ever i had a run in with loss prevention. she called me in the office and questioned me about 5 photos that were missing.. she basically accused me she was talking to me very rude. she never let me get a word in edge wise, i asked her to show me the proff she said she had and her answer to me was " i dont have to show you anything" she told me to write a statement i wrote my version of the statement and she said that what you are writting? i said yes. she said ok well i guess we will stick with this. i felt horrible by the way she was treating me i have been with the company for almost 5 yrs i have handled the register at times when there has been thousands of dollars in there and not a red cent has been missing for them to accuse me of taking 5 photos from the photo dept is wrong. i got sent home at 12pm and was told somebody would contact me i still have not heard from anybody and its the next day. i called my boss his answer to me was i still dont have an answer for you. im playing the waiting game and im like a sitting duck in limbo. i think this is wrong and very unprofessional.. walgreens says they are a family buisness that is NOT true at all.

I've wrked for walgreens for 7yrs, the "new" store mngr, put me and only me too all nites, I was the only single mom with a child that has learning disabilities and couldn't do all nights or he'd fail, another reason why I stepped down from STL position! The other moms were all working says, I had senority too them all. Come to find out one of the other asst mngrs was transferred to the store this lady came from this asst mngr didn't like me, cause I was competition to her. So just last mth she transferred this asst bck to my old store. I guess she didn't want to wrk w me again. This store mngr purposely set my schedule up knowing I could not work it, so I'd leave! I even asked her for a transfer, she said NO! I'm not sure how these mngrs can get away w this cruelty and favoritism? I contacted Corp, and they said she only put me on 2 nights, that's what she told them! Now really, why would I quit after 7yrs for 2nites? What she did was very discriminating towards my son and me. Corp said they make a visit to store, never did! I had more than half employees there that seen the schedule she gave me! Walgreens is a sad Co. Just because you have mngrs does not mean their right with their actions.

Walgreens survey website inoperable

Almost every week I enter the Walgreens feedback survey website and complete the survey. But today, April 13, 2011, the www.walgreensfeedback.com is not available. When you type in the address, you are re-directed to another page that has a list of other websites, but not the survey site listed on the walgreens receipt. This is very deceiving. If Walgreens is no longer offering the survey, then remove the information off your receipts.

Walgreens prescription error

On 4/11/2011 I went to pick up my rx., as I do every week and by the yime I got home gave my baby a tub I realized they only gave me half of my rx. Which is only 7 pills my rx. Is for 14. I called the store, explained what happened, and I had a witness with me to confirm my story. I was advised to go in the next day and speak with the manager, mathew moi. I did the very next day. He could have cared less! He refused to give me the rest of my rx., or a refund, even show the slightest concern of what would happen as a result of not having them. His refusal to admitt any fault by himself or staff members made me request thier district managers number/name. After I was mislead and given the store manager (I found out upon leaving the store) and asked him aswel for the regional/distric manager"s number. Im still waiting for even so much as a responce. I will lyk...

i had an issues like this as well. my son is a type 1 diabetic - and he uses quite a few test strips a month. at that time he would get 400 a month. one of the boxes only had 75 strips in it - one vial was empty. i called the pharmacy, was told to bring it up there and they'd straighten things out. i took the box to the pharmacy and was chastised basically. i was called a thief and a liar - basically told by the pharmacist that i emptied the bottle on purpose to get "free strips." this was hardly the case. i talked to the manager, she didn't care either - she said the pharmacist was right. i called the 800 number, treated the same way...but when i called the strips manufacturer, i was treated with respect and the vial was immediately replaced.

so, the moral of my story is that i've quit using walgreens pharmacy for anything (unless cvs is out of a required medicine and it's a last resort).

Walgreens wrong prescription

After refilling a prescription, I saw that there were two different pills in my bottle. One was the muscle relaxant I was familiar with, the other was larger and a different color. My husband took the bottle back immediately. The pharmacy manager told my husband that it was a different generic for my prescription and that is was safe to take. I had looked it up online and it appeared to be a drug for diabetes (which I don't have), but figured I should trust my pharmacist rather than the internet. After a week they called and asked us to bring the bottle back, saying they would refill it with all the same pills. They told me I could be experiencing low blood sugar, and dizziness. (Later I was able to confirm with a different pharmacy that they were Metformin, not my prescribed Metaxalone) The phamacist kept saying these things happen, and they are doing their best. I had taken a few of the wrong pills and was very sick for 3 days. I complained to the corporate office but haven't heard anything so far.

WHY would you take a med you didnt recognize? That is absolutely crazy, And taking Metformin CAN indeed make you sick and cause deadly low blood sugars. NEVER implicitly trust others with YOUR Health

Also, you can always use the internet to find out what pills you have. There are a lot of sites where all you have to do is put in the shape, color and the markings and they will tell you what the pills are.. Just do a google...

Walgreens moving pharmacist to another location

We have just been informed that Walgreens plans on moving Charlie Margaritis from the pharmacy in the Southborough, MA (rte 9) store to one in Maynard, MA. What Walgreen's needs to understand is that Charlie built his business, Southborough Drug Store, within the local community for a reason. He wanted to serve the people of Southborough. People came to his store to see the friendly face, check out which bow tie he was wearing today, and get their medications or ask a question about something. He was a Southborough institution. When the "BIG" companies started to take over the area, the little guy just couldn't compete, so Charlie sold his book of business to Osco drug - because he agreed with their philosophy of being there for the customer. People follow Charlie, they want him to be the one filling their scripts, they trust him. When he moved over to Walgreens, many of his original customers came with him...look at the numbers, see how many people came from Osco (which was bought by Brooks and then Rite Aid) to Walgreen's. They come for the local feel, their neighborhood pharmacist, who calls everyone by name, serving his community. He wants to stay in his hometown, but due to corporate numbers they want to move him? What about being part of the local community? Walgreen's website states "A history of our company: How a neighborhood drugstore became America's most trusted pharmacy... and changed the shopping habits of a nation.". Well that is what Charlie is to Southborough. He is the neighborhood drugstore...SO LET'S KEEP HIM IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD! Don't move Charlie Margaritis to Maynard, MA. KEEP CHARLIE MARGARITIS IN SOUTHBOROUGH!

Thank you!
-Holly Margaritis

Walgreens racist

I have been to this walgreens four times. All four they have been rude and tried to charge for medications my insurance pays for. I seem to get one tech all the time. Which seems to be very rude. I was over charged and was told that my insurance would not pay for the perscription and I could pay for it myself. Which I did not pay for it we went to family dollar and only payed only $2.13 when walgreens tried to get $4.75 from us. I want to warn people not to go to this walgreens because these people are racist. Another time I tried to get medication it took me two hours to get it. We will never use walgreens again for anything. We complained to the corporate office and they did nothing. They appear to be trying to make a quick buck on questionable medical practices.

You never actually explain what they did that was racist. I think that excuse has been over used for far too long. We do the best we can as far as prices. Drug stores all have to compete with each other and we cannot always have the cheapest prices.

Walgreens customer service

I have had several issues with Walgreens and them filling my presicriptions and they have over-charged several times. I just called in a refill today and spoke to a representative, I told him the refill that I needed and he said ok, then I called many hours later to check on the refills and it said I had 3, that is incorrect I should only have 2. I spoke to another Representative who told me that I olny had 2 for the same medication, that is also incorrect! I should have 2 different refills under 2 different medicines, she was very rude to me. This is not the 1st time this had happened. I have also been called several times that my prescription was ready but when I went to pick it up it was only a partial fill and they told me I would have to pay for the rest when it is ready, ummmm I don't think so that is what a co-pay is and it is not my fault they are not stocked, also they should have informed me it was a partial before I drove all the way there, this has been an inconvenience to keep driving back to get the rest of my meds. The Service is awful, they are very rude and most locations and also on the phone and who knows who you are talking to half the time the people on the phone are not even in the same state! I will no longer use Walgreen's, in fact I went to my Dr. the other day and there was a note that said they will no longer send orders thru Walgreens please select a different pharmacy. That is sad when a Dr.'s office will no longer use them.

Walgreens rx issues every time

Every month, twice a month, I have to fill 8 prescriptions. These are the SAME medications I have taken for years with the exception of 2 that were started about 6 months ago if that. Needless to say, there ALWAYS has to be an issue with at least one or more...

Since I fill 5 of them mid-month and 3 of them at the end of the month, you would think that it would be pretty cut & dry. Well, not with Walgreens. The ONLY REASON I started going to Walgreens was due to my local "mom & pop" store not being able to carry 3 of the RX's due to the cost and strength. They're expensive, they do not stock it, and it takes about 3-5 days for them to get them. SO, with reluctance, I moved everything over to Walgreens. As of today, they're all MOVED BACK and I'll wait the 3-5 days - will just ensure I get the RX's ordered ahead of time and get paper RX's earlier if need be.

At any rate, the whole "ordeal" is over the inability to properly get Medicaid to authorize the claim. 3 or 4 medications need PA's (Prior Authorizations) and as a customer, I should NOT have to help them know which codes go where; however I've had to deal with it so much, I've "learned". Then there is the issue of NEVER having the right amount. For 2 of these medications, you can either get the partial fill and lose the rest or have to hunt down another store that has the full amount. Generally, the tech/pharmacist must call at least 5 other Walgreens to find out which one A) Has it, B) Has enough, and C) Provide instructions on "how" to get the claim to go through.

Then, I will arrive at the location that has it, and I can barely walk as-is even with my cane at age 33 but I have to come in since heaven-forbid I "hold" the Drive-Thru lane. They have the EVERY MONTH issue with getting it to process, and I offer my help to her and get snapped at to "You don't work here, I do, and I know what I'm doing so let me figure it out somehow." I state that I have dealt with and will continue to deal with this EVERY month, this isn't about "working here or not", it's about me HELPING YOU to make YOUR JOB EASIER! Oh no no no - cannot have ANY of that. SO - a struggling away she goes until I'm told it is NOT covered as "too soon". Really? It couldn't possibly be too soon given a NEW paper prescription is required EACH time and it is now the 30th day on a 30 day supply. Then I'm told I 'just filled it today' - again, obviously not, but you don't want nor need my help right? She still keeps stating it was filled today - so I asked her "Where might I have filled the SAME RX that is in your hands?" and she snaps back with you filled it (paused); ummm; OK this don't make sense as it says you just filled it here - I must've gotten all messed up with you talking".. NOW I find it a bit comical.

I tell her that she's obviously "started" the claim, it's now in "suspense" as it is waiting for the Pharmacist to clear-out the alert(s) and/or to apply the PA (Prior Authorization), and here comes the "looks" again - only THIS time, they're looks of "ahhh I think this customer may be on to something"... She begins to digress and "sort-of" apologizes by saying "Oh yeah yeah yeah I see I see what you were talking about with that PA # and all that... Now I gotta call Medicaid to clear it and then I can re-do it again". I started to say "If you have not sent the" - and that's when I got cut-off AGAIN and bi-polar woman turned back into evil-pharmacist! And here I thought I made some headway...

No longer, every month, will I have to deal with attempting to drive long distances (hard to drive as-is due to all the physical issues), no longer have to deal with "the looks" over the type(s) of medications, be lied to about insurance not covering a 30-day supply medication until the 32nd day (since they can't do basic math with the 31-day months - LOL), no longer will I have to be subjected to rude people who do NOT want advice from one who has the answers since EVERY month I have to deal with the same issues and have learned "how" to get it to work.

MOST importantly, I am once again able to support an 80 year old family-business, that has been struggling, with around $7, 000 in Prescriptions a month! That "3-5 day wait" is worth keeping a family-business 'in business' as being known by my NAME, what I NEED, filled automatically when it's time since they look everyday as to "who is getting close", be called when it's ready, or even have them delivered at NO CHARGE! I will no longer be looked at as an irritation, idiot, number, or worse, a 'drug-seeker' due to 3 of the medications I am on..

Funny though that between my $7, 000 in medications and the rest of my family who is ALSO leaving Walgreens, close to $20, 000 in meds are now OFF their revenue! That's fine though - we have to keep our Small Businesses alive instead of letting the corporate capitalist chains take over.

What no complaint about your insurance company. You'll allow the independent pharmacy 5 days to fill your rx but not walgreens. Get real. I'm sure the medications your filling to soon are narcotics. You probable overuse them.

Walgreens long red haired employee rude and inappropriate

I was waiting on a script for an hour and went outside to sit and read a newspaper. This employee came out and demanded that I leave, that I looked bad sitting there. I was wearing a Ralph Lauren button down with a wool blazer. He, however, was wearing his extremely long hair unrestrained, in an old t-shirt and worn out baggy jeans. I looked much better than he. I informed him that I was a customer waiting on a script for an hour. He never apologized; but insisted that I leave. I went to the pharmacy where he was checking to see if I was telling the truth. Even after, he said "I thought you were a homeless person". I will not repeat all he said to me; but he was discriminating against me for having a cane and a disability. I usually bring a rolling case to transport my items since I am disabled. He told me it looked bad as well. To my dismay, I discover today that he still works there. He refused to tell me his name then because he knew his behavior was wrong and that I was trying to maker an official complaint. I hope this is official enough. Walgreens can do better. Maybe, if he had no job, he would be more understanding towards the homeless. No one should be treated that way, homeless or otherwise. I assure you that my rents and house payments far exceed his entire living expenses. He should not be allowed to work with people at all. Keep him in the back and out of the way, please, if you keep him there at all.

Walgreens 5901 nw 122nd, oklahoma city. avoid this location at all costs!!!

I recently came across a brochure regarding Walgreens Photo Recovery Service, so I gave them a defective memory card, with the hope that the 60 or so pictures I had taken could possible be recovered from it. Promise time was two weeks, and several days after that had passed I still hadn't received the order. I inquired several times in person and over the phone, to no avail. Finally a MANAGER called me back and said my order was never shipped out, but accidentally THROWN AWAY! I mean, how does a MANAGER not know the difference between a customer's photo order and the trash? It defies belief! While I would have been disappointed if the order was processed and the photos were not retrievable, I would have understood and thanked them for trying. Instead, due to the blatant carelessness of this manager, not only do I not have the photos but I no longer have the memory card either. Do not under any circumstances trust this location's photo department for ANYTHING. I learned the hard way and they're never getting a second chance. Let me also add that it was indeed the Manager who threw my order in the trash; he admitted it on the phone message and I still have it stored in my cell phone to prove it (apparently it was in a box for UPS and ready to be shipped to the lab but somehow "got mixed in with boxes being taken to the dumpster"). I also spoke to the District Manager and gave him an earful as well. They kept asking me what they could do to make it right, but how can you possibly replace something that's virtually irreplacable? Rest assured any further attempts by them to regain my trust will fall on deaf ears.

I find it interesting that you can judge me as being a piece of work simply on the basis of ONE complaint I've filed on this forum. I truly appreciate good customer service, and in matters of honest mistakes (for example, forgetting to deduct a coupon, mis-counting my change, an advertised item not being in stock, etc.) I am more than willing to give the clerk or the store a break and have no problem working with them. As I have said before, if the photo card had gone to the lab and they were not able to retrieve any photos from it I would have been disappointed but I would have thanked them for their effort. Unfortunately the Manager at this location mistook my order (boxed and ready to ship to the lab) for the garbage, and while I recognize you do not agree with me, that goes beyond being a simple mistake and ventures into the territory of sheer carelessness. It also took them two weeks after I initially followed up on the order for them to contact me with the truth. Bottom line I have cut my losses and now shop at CVS or Rite Aid and am glad I did.

In response to 123321, I never expected the manager to be "super-human" or not make any mistakes, but Walgreens advertised a service where they would take defective memory cards, ship them to a lab and retrieve the pictures, and it's a pricey service at that (roughly $35 per order). You would think that would be incentive enough for them not to be so careless with my order. Like I said in my original post, if the order was shipped to the lab and they couldn't retrieve the pictures, I would have been disappointed but would have thanked them for trying. It's nice to see you would have taken the high road had the situation happened to you, but with all due respect, resorting to name-calling (referring to me as an "unpleasable and unreasonable pig") doesn't do too much for your credibility.

Wallgreens acted like it was NO BIG DEAL I'm considering legal action !

Walgreens service

This pharmacy provides the worst service. Their employees think they deserve to be treated like loyalty so they can be nice. Everytime I go to pick up my medication they make me wait...(drive thru) they never have the medication ready..(when I order two, they give me only one)...
The other day they gave me a vaccine to give it to my doctor...and they didn't put any label (keep refrigerated)...so the vaccine couldn't be used because of their mistake.
They are awful rude stupid people...

Those first two sentences are just awesome, had to read them a couple times to fully enjoy them. So if a company sucks so bad, why do you keep going back? Why not hit the company with the one thing they do care about, a loss of a profit.

Walgreens I feel I was discrimminated against but store manger.

I started working at Walgreens on October 31st, 2010. At first I truly enjoyed working there, and felt I was liked by my fellow coworkers and management staff. I was sick a few times in December and one of which I had an ER discharge notice that I make of copy of & gave to my manger. I was told that it was fine & that they hoped I got better. I got sick again in February two days in a row and was told over the phone that if I called in again I would be fired. I went to the ER again that following week in severe pain & went to work the next day with little to no sleep and still in pain because we had a 5 minute meeting that stated what their new policy was for sick leave and it stated part time has only 3 days a year and once used you can't have anymore and even a doctors note would not excuse you. I wasn't feeling well while at work on February 18th, 2011 so I asked the manger on duty if I got the rest of the truck put away if I could leave early and she said it was fine. One of the other employees found out I was leaving early and I was in the back stock room putting things away when I hear the manger had a call. Ten minutes later she came back saying if I left I would be written up because she talk to the store manger who wasn't on duty and he said I would be written up and that any other time I do this or I would be fired on the spot. My whole six months of working there, many other employees have called in as I have done and or left early becuase they were sick or just because they wanted to and lived outside of town and were never written up or threaten to lose their jobs. I am not happy with the company Walgreens because not once did the store manger come to me and tell me I was doing a bad job or talk to me about why I was being singled out. The only person who told me anything was one of the assistant mangers when I called and said I was quitting because I didn't want to work for a company that doesn't care about their people or discriminates against one person because they are new and don't deserve the same treatment as the other employees who have work there longer.

I just started working for Walgreens six months ago and I quit because I was told I was going to be fired because I left work early because I wasn't feeling well. When several other employees have left work early a lot of times leaving only two people to run the whole store. Or got crossed off because the store manger approved it. But when I need the same it get thrown back in my face because had some horrible problems with my wisdom teeth and got sick enough to end up in the ER and so I am not worth keeping. Just so everyone knows no one can control whether they get sick or injured or has to go to the doctor those things are a fact of everyday life and Walgreens needs to come back to Earth and become more human. And further more policies need to change because unless Walgreens wants to pay out some serious cash for negligence for ignoring doctors notes that state a person is unable to work and making that person come in any way or ignoring the fact that one of your employees is sick and needs to leave then threatening them with a write up or worst if they do but then gives other employees special treatment because they are friends with management. If you have ever heard of the word discrimination that is a pretty good definition of it.

I know that when you are genuinely ill, it is difficult to deal with a situation like this. However, when you miss a good amount of work, you are no longer a useful employee and they reserve the right to fire you. Regardless of the reason, they cannot keep a member of the staff employed forever when they miss many of their shifts. It just becomes too much of a loss.

Couple of points. One, Walgreens is an "at will" company, which means they can terminate employees for any reason, as long as it is a legal reason. Two, you've been sick and taken off from work at least five times (by my count), maybe more, and asked to leave early at least once after working there part time for less than four months. To call off that often, no matter the excuse, is unacceptable.

I can't say whether or not the store manager has personal grudge against you, but he could also be that, as you said, everyone has been calling in lately and the decision was made because of everyone's calling in, not just yours. You may have been the "straw that broke the camel's back" on this, but the policy he stated was not that different than most retail stores. It is actually more accepting than some I have worked at. It sounds like you did the right thing by quiting, but don't be surprised if you get the same treatment in another retail job.

BTW, the last retail job I worked two years ago had this rule. If you were sick, you find someone to cover your shift. If you call in without finding someone to cover, first time you are written up, second time you are fired. Did you make any attempts to get someone to cover for your shifts? If you didn't, maybe if you had the manager would be more understanding. Keep in mind that the manager has a business to run and that requires employees who are going to be there. If customer complain about waits and lack of service, his job is on the line. So yes, he may have been looking to get rid of someone that calls in at least five times in less than four months of working there.

Walgreens maggots found in spice

I found several dozen maggots in a spice bottle of onion flakes made by this company. I purchased it in December 2010 (at Walgreens in Christiansburg, VA, USA) and by early Feb 2011 I used up my previous bottle (different brand) and got the Encore out. I pulled off the seal which seemed to be intact and saw maggots inside. Shocked I closed the container immediately and contacted Encore Gourmet Foods in Canada. After several attempts, emails, Encore Gourmet Foods does not respond.

NEW Development: Walgreens has replaced Encore brand with another brand.

Update by reliablemrb
Feb 28, 2011 1:53 am EST

NEW DEVELOPEMENT: On Feb 21 and 22 I visited 7 Walgreen stores and noted 6 of the stores were fully stocked with Encore spices except for the Chopped onion flakes- non of those at all there. The 7th store had a hole in the area where the Encore spices were- the whole display was removed. I contacted the FDA on Feb 23 and they contacted Encore. Encore claimed they did not receive any of my emails and that it was impossible that maggots could hatch out in one of their bottles, in spite of the pictures the FDA sent them. Its pretty obvious whats really going on here.

No they would do nothing for the prior reasons stated. I will be contacting the FDA on Monday. Thanks for getting me to think and come up with the correct thing to do - too bad walgreens will now get into trouble. ... Im closing this site out now since only 1 other person viewed it so its not a site that gets the job done and I will not be back to read any more comments or post any other complaints, if I were to have any more. Goodbye.

Do you work for walgreens or encore ? In the USA, merchants sell products to make a profit. They do not contact manufacturers with problems like this. Walgreens, like any other merchant, would just try to give me a replacement, discard the return, forget it and bury the matter. They will not go contacting the manufacturer and demanding action as this would be contrary to their goal of making a profit. What country do you live in if things are not the same there ? You have got me thinking though- I should call the food and drug administration- they WILL look into this and contact the manufacturer through channels in canada but that WILL get walgreens in trouble too.

Update by reliablemrb

Did you try taking it back to walgreens ? Response: Well, you see, the manufacturer should be checking lot numbers and figuring out how this contamination occured. I really was not interested in the 50 cents I paid (on sale) and I would just be unable to use any Encore's ever again. I would always be wondering whats in it.

I cannot find the survey. Is there really one or just a scam. I switched from CVS to Walgreens because I didn't like the way CVS was run. I just hope it is better here.

Walgreens faxing

I purchased a phone card from Walgreens in 2008 and did not use all my minutes within the 24 months, which I will take blame for. BUT, this card was used exclusively to fax documents to long distance numbers. So, I went and bought another phone card in 2010, with only 150 minutes($10.00). I had used this card exclusively to fax also. Yesterday I could not get a fax to go through, so I eventually called customer service, who is telling me that the card is not made for faxing!?!? How can this be that a calling card I have used numerous times is no longer valid for faxing? It had always worked before! And customer service argued with me and talked over me as I was trying to explain that I have used this card only for faxing in the past. HORRIBLE customer service, and you product sucks. I know it is the card, because I can fax locally and make phone calls with the card, as I have tried both. I even had another person try to use the calling card from their location and fax, but it would not go through for them either.

Walgreens charged me $102 for a $15 rx that I did not ok

I sent Walgreens mail service some Rxs and they were supposed to be $15 each for 90 day supply. They were all to be generic as noted on the Rxs by my doctor. The problem is that one generic is no longer available and Walgreens sent a brand name and billed me $102. They did not notify me of the super charges. I know what they did is legal but is not very consumer friendly. They will not take back the Rx. And their phone and email service is handled by a lot of automation and people that know nothing and are no help whatsoever.

Walgreen's does suck! It's a shame that they have been able to get away with so much and for so long. I unfortunately have had the last of bad experiences. I kept thinking to give them a chance because after all every store is different and with different personality employees but today I went in to pick up an antibiotic and specifically requested this antibiotic but the pharmacist gave me two prescriptions that included the one I had requested. When I got home, I realized that I was given one I had not asked for so I went back to return the second, 45 minutes later. After being told to wait (after 15 mins), Daniel Min Pharmacy Manager of the Walgreen's on 5201 Belt Line Rd., Dallas, TX rudely told me that there was nothing that could be done and that I needed to get out of my vehicle and go inside. Then he began to "argue" and talking over me saying that he didn't know what he wanted me to do, that supposedly "by law the prescription could not be returned" even though I had just been deceived into buying it, given that I had told the pharmacy tech what I was specifically picking up. Daniel Min stated, "we just assume"...totally unacceptable behavior, response and customer service. Mr. Min was very condescending and offered no other options, in fact, he just refused to even listen or take any accountability, blaming the doctor and the patient. Walgreen's and Daniel Min show proof of such an unethical business and practice. SHAMEFUL! A business should never "assume" as Mr. Min stated. Good customer service entails giving the customer thorough information so that the customer can make a choice of what they need to purchase. It seems Mr. Daniel Min just manages his techs as paper pushers and not responsible service providers. He himself takes no accountability for their own mistakes which only demonstrates proof of terrible management.
