If you receive one of these gift cards and want to purchase something online or by phone you have to validate this card first (which is not mentioned on the gift card). After calling the phone number you will be asked 'who' gave this card to you as a 'gift'.
After that is verified they then ask for your full name, address, phone number and a security question answer. But Wachovia is not done...they then want a birth date AND social security number or driver's license number. This makes no sense to me! There is no added security if one takes the card into a store to use.
I feel I can't use my 'gift' in the way I would prefer without divulging my life's history. This is NOT a rechargeable card and they already have all the personal info from the person who purchased the card initially as a gift. In short, THIS IS A RIPOFF!
