Volunteer Motorsports/Can Am BRP / CAN AM ATV DS 90 4ST Y poor value
I bought a Can Am ATV 90 4ST as a Christmas present for my daughter on 12/21/08. I could not take delivery of the vehicle that day because it had to svcd before it could leave the shop. Christmas morning it would not start. My brother in law is a motorcycle mechanic so we thought we could get to the bottom of it and get it running for my daughter. Wrong. It had a bad part that should have been deteched durning the break in at the dealership but I doubt the break in was done. I took it back to them and they fixed it and was very upset due to the incident.
It set most of the winner because it was too cold to ride but my daughter started riding it in late March and April. It is not raced, it is only ridden the yard and is not abused at all. In June the electric starter went out and it developed an oil leak. It may have 25 hours it since new. I took it back to the dealer hoping for warranty but I was told it had no warranty left. I did purchase the optional extended warranty because I did not think my daugher would put much stress on a brand new for wheeler riding it in my yard.
This is not all on the dealer. If Can Am cannot engineer a product that cannot hold up under this stressless situation then they should not be allowed to market there junk in the USA.
Don't buy from Volunteer Motor Sports because they are agreeing to sell an inferior product. Don't buy Can Am products because they are obviously poorly engineering junk.
