Verengo Solar / huge Edison Bill after first year of solar installation

1 Saugus, CA, United States Review updated:

We signed up with Varengo Solar after being solicited by one of their salesmen. We were told we would save on our energy bills. They set up the system at no cost and our electric bills were way down - most said we should not pay and that we were receiving a credit. We had to pay the solar company $215.00 dollars a month for the solar lease. after a year of this we just received a bill from edison for $844.87! they said it was for the "net energy metering program" or NEMS for short. We were never told by the verengo people about this! we only saved about 75 dollars over the energy costs from the year before we had solar! They installed these huge ugly panels on our roff and we saved less than a hundred dollars after a year! and we were burdened with an almost $900.00 payment we weren't expecting. we should have known if ed asner was involved it had to be a scam.
