Vector Security Service and billing

We’ve had their service for just over a year now. It was great for most of the time. Until the last month. Our panel stopped working and we finally got ahold of someone to trouble shoot-no success. They were going to have the tech team call to schedule a service call. Nothing…I tried a few days later and the earliest appt was 2 wks after we lost service. I asked for a prorated bill and appt team couldn’t honor that and was supposed to tell mgmt. I’ve heard nothing-we tried putting in more calls and online tickets…since there’s no email availability and they’re only “available “ during business hours. Poor customer service and now we’ve placed 4 calls and still nothing.

Desired outcome: We want an easier way to get ahold of someone, a credit for service not received and getting out of our contract would be ideal.

Vector Security Alarm system

The system worked for a total of 5 months and I could never have a technician return my call or confirm an appointment, but constantly drafted the monthly bill. I was advise that due the a new structure, the issue would require additional services and I would not be billed until this issue was resolved, I receive a notice in the mail stating that due to non payment services were cancelled and I’m responsible for paying 2,673.95 for a 5 year contract, when I was informed of a 3 year contract. I’ve contacted my lawyer in regarding the fraud and will seek a civil suit. This is unacceptable

Desired outcome: Billed for the served used prior to canceling services and removal of the equipment.

I've discovered issues related to motion-activated cams not working but about 50% of the time, long delays in notifications (over 5 min), a long monitoring alarm response/contact time (3 min), and cannot seem to get the help from this company in learning how to make setting adjustments such as stopping email notifications. Vector has scheduled two service...

Vector Security unknown automatic renewal

I signed a 3 year contract with vector security in January 2013. In June 2019 I decided to change to another security company, since my nearest vector office is about 400 miles away. Prior to making my decision to switch companies, I spoke with vector and they did make a counter offer, (with a 3 year contract), but never mentioned that if I do switch there was an automatic renewal clause hidden in the small print of my original contract. Now that I have made the switch they want me to pay the remainder of the hidden contract renewal. It seems that their main concern is collecting moneis they do not earn. Very unethical.

Vector Security Such an Awful Company

This is the worst company that I have ever dealt with. Their staff is incompetent and you never get the answers to the questions that you ask. I now wish I had never allowed the sales person in my home. during that time they sit with you and explain everything. You sign the papers after hearing one thing from the sales person and what the fine print actually says. I still pay vector security company despite not using their service anymore. I went through another company so I have to pay for security that's not even utilized. Please STAY AWAY from this SCAM of a company

Vector Security Contract Manipulation

Vector is the security company that was installed at the house that we are renting in Washington, DC. We did not activate the security system right when we first moved in but about 3 weeks later, there was a small fire in the house and we knew that we would have to be out of the house for at least a while and we would have a hole in an exterior wall. As a result, we decided to activate the Vector security system to protect our belongings.
The installation person came and made some updates to the system and asked that I sign something. Apparently, what I signed was a contract which dictated a three-year term. We made it abundantly clear that we were renters and if there was ever mention of a three-year contract, we would NEVER have signed it. Now if we want to cancel the service, we will have to pay over $2000 to buyout the contract.
I feel that this company prayed on us when we were in a vulnerable place and had us sign a contract where it was written in small print that it was 3-year term. This while knowing that we were renters. I feel manipulated and I would never recommend anyone use this company.

Vector Security Unethicl Sales Practices

Vector Security seemed like the way to go until we realized they screwed up our contract and made my Wife's grandmother responsible for our account. As I spoke to the sales man, We told him our grandmother used Vector in her home and he then offered us and her 3 free months of monitoring if my Wife's grandmother co-signed for us, we all agreed. We have yet to see a bill (we were installed Dec 2012). We just received notice from my Wife's grandmother that her bill has more than doubled. After looking into it, she is being billed for our service. After calling into Vector Billing, we were told that my wife's grandmother is the contract holder for our account... not the co-signer. Thinking back on the conversations I had with the sales man for Vector, I remember him telling us that if we signed with him before the first of the year, then he would meet his quota for the year. This is all telling me that he set it up this way to insure his bonus. This is not how good business should be done and I recommend that anyone looking for a security system for their home to look somewhere else.

Vector Security Problems with billing

I've had Vector Security about a year now and have had automatic withdrawal from my bank account. Last month I received a bill and a charge for a returned ACH fee. I called my bank and they assured me the money was properly withdrawn. I then called Vector and was told that they needed proof by seeing my bank statement. I sent them the line item that showed the payment was made, They insist the bank is wrong and now I'm receiving bills and late charges even though the money is still being withdrawn from my account. I would never use Vector again and will cancel as soon as my contract is up if I can't do so before, My next step is to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Beware of trouble if you get involved with Vector.

Vector Security Sales fraud customer service

All companies have negative complaints and Vector is no exception. They have been blasted for fraudulent sales tactics, poor customer service, negligent monitoring services, and shady contract renewals. Having been a customer for a year now, I can honestly say that what you may have read about Vector in all the above categories is 100% accurate. They use low IQ door to door sales men who are trained to ask you to "place a sign at your house" which is perhaps the stupidest and most bewildering sales tactic I have ever heard of. Naturally they want you to sign a contract, not just place a sign. They entice you with "free equipment" worth "$1700" but a simple search on Ebay for the same model # and brand name of the equipment they want you to believe is worth nearly $2000 is actually worth less than $500. When the equipment they installed was malfunctioning and triggering alarms at all hours the idiot salesman did all he could to get me off the phone until I was practically screaming at him to fix the problem, which eventually was fixed. Customer service is slow, borderline rude, think DMV level care and concern. The real kicker is I just found out that what I thought was a 3 year contract is actually a 5 year contract. That was news to me. They confirmed they do auto renew contracts without even a courtesy reminder. Stay away from these ###s. If some knuckledragger in a Vector Security shirt knocks on your door with a sign politely slam it in his stupid looking face. Bad company. Look elsewhere.

I guess I'm not alone with complaints about Vector Security. I originally had Brinks as a security provider and they installed the security system in my home. They made a mess of the install by cutting corners and using conduit on the outside of the walls. I had to re-run nearly all the wiring they had installed. Well after the time my contract with Brinks had expired, ( and some of the contacts had failed) I received a call that my service had been sold out to Vector. A representative of Vector came to my house and talk to me about Vector Service. I am 65 years old and have a hard time with small print. The representative laid out a form and told me that it was an acknowledgement that Brinks had sold my service to Vector and they would switch my billing to Vector. I had no idea that on that form was a one liner, super small font that it also carried a new 3 year contract. about three months ago the brain box died and I looked everywhere for a contact number for Vector(not in yellow pages), So I bought all new modern wireless system and with the help of a friend installed the new equip with a self-monitor through our smart phones and computers. I finally went back through my bank and got a phone number for Vector. I called Vector to cancel my service and they said they would charge me for the remainder of their service contract which I denied signing. I had them fax me proof of the contract since I thought I had served my contract with Brinks. It was on the paper I signed in small print for a 3 year contract with Vector but I was lied to by the salesman and was deceived by the small print and the omission of the truth about the entire form. Don't get caught in a mess like I have, Run from Vector, If you have them now I would suggest that you run as quick as you can. If your service is sold to Vector(which is not even rated as a security company) watch out for their deceptive business practices.

Vector Security BAD customer service and LIES

DO NOT EVER SIGN WITH THEM. The salesman will tell you all LIES to get you to sign and once you sign that contract they could care less about you. The customer service is horrible and they only want to trap you into the contract. I have never been talked to so poorly by a company as this company has to me. They need some serious revamping of their customer service reps and sales reps. DO NOT EVERY USE VECTOR. THEY WILL LIE TO YOU AND THEN TRAP YOU IN A CONTRACT THAT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO GET OUT OF!

Vector Security Customer Service

I do not recommend Vector Security to anyone. I signed up with them a little over 2 years ago. I asked the salesman at the time if they had a military clause in the contract to allow me out of the contract if the military gave me orders to move. He indicated they did. I did not see it anywhere in the contract and called customer service prior to signing. They said it was company policy to let military members cancel with no penalty if they were provided with a copy of orders. I asked if this could be put in the contract and the customer rep said that she would “put it in our file.” Foolishly, I believed her and signed.

Low and behold I have orders to move out of state. When I called Vector to cancel, they told me they would only cancel if I could give them a copy of my orders AND a bill of sale of my house. As I am not selling my house, I informed them of the conversation I had with the salesman and customer service two years ago. They looked up my file and saw that it said we had been told we could cancel with military orders. They don’t care. I was told that despite what I may have been told in the past, they require a bill of sale. When I ask to speak to a supervisor I get the run around. Either he is out of the office, at lunch, unavailable, or I’m told that “speaking to a supervisor won’t change anything so there is no point in connecting you.”

I will likely end up paying the remainder of the contract as a penalty for canceling. Simply trying to cancel and pay the remainder (which the contract does say you can do) is nearly impossible. It took me 5 phone calls to 3 different numbers before I was given the details of what I need to do in order to cancel my contract and pay the penalty. I’ve learned my lesson, get it in the contract or don’t sign. Ultimately it is my fault, but Vector is a very shady company for misleading at the start, and giving me the run around now. Do not sign up for “service” from this company.

While doing so at times can seem racist and prejudiced. This person is sincerely emotionally unstable. For all I know this person...

Vector Security Security Cameras Do Not Work

Vector Security is HORRIBLE! Their customer service is TERRIBLE and most of their technicians or NOT knowledgeable. I had $500 cameras installed in my home to watch my nanny with my newborn daughter and they do not work. Protecting my child is of the utmost importance. Vector supervisors refused to return my numerous messages and customer service was rude. I was given a lame excuse as to why the cameras didn't work and was denied a refund or a reasonable solution to the problem. I would not recommend them to anyone. As soon as my three year contract is up, I will discontinue service and go back with ADT. I had ADT for 9 years and never once had a problem with euquipment, service or customer service. They do not tell you, your initial contract is for three years and the only way to get out of it is to pay the remainder of your contract. Additionally, if you do not cancel right before your three years is over, they will renew your contract for an additional three years and then you are faced with the same problem trying to get out of it. For the next two years, I am stuck with subpar service and expensive security cameras that do not work. DO NOT GO WITH VECTOR!

Vector Security automatic renewal

I entered a contract with vector in Feb of 09. I called in Sept of 2010 to cancel. I was told my contract expired in Feb of 2011, and they would cancel that time or I would have to pay a fee. I agreed, and as of June I was still being billed. I then called, and found out that they had renewed my contract for an additional year, without sending me a notice, and that my Sept conversation did not matter. I was then told I had to pay 319.00 that would cover me from june to the next Feb, even though I formally cancelled in June. What a scam--I am so discouraged, how can a company be so unethical?

I am also very dissatisfied with vector security. I have had my service since Feb 09. I called to cancel my service because our home was in foreclosure and they proceeded to tell me that I also would have to pay them $249.00 to cover the contract until the next Feb. Because the contract automatically renews every year if you do not call and cancel one month ahead of time; before your contact renews. I was NEVER told that when I signed the contract and I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY TO ANY ONE FURTHER. THEY WILL NEVER GET BUSINESS FROM ME AGAIN.

Vector Security Fraud/Illegal Activity

Stacie, from Vector security Systems, came to my home and introduced herself as someone who was NOT selling a product. Lie #1. She then proceeded to tell me that because of my location, she would like to use our home as a "project home". Being a 'Project Home" would entitle me to have all of the equipment and labor for free. All I would have to do is pay for a 1year service. Lie #2. She also said that I was the last home in the neighborhood to be offered this. Lie #3. After talking to my neighbors, I discovered she was SELLING this to everyone. Two of my neighbors actually did do this and are now discontinuing the service. But the thing that really set me off was her asking me if it was ok for her to call in and verify that I am the true owner of the house. It made sense to me at the time, I could have been a renter. After her phone call, she told me there was a problem on their end and she would call me back tomorrow. She had me sign a small form and said it was permission to check ownership of my home. Lie #4. SHE RAN MY CREDIT WITHOUT MY PERMISSION. The phone call she made was a credit check. I didn't pass and, of course, I never heard from her the next day.

Vector Security bad product and customer service

We just have Vector alarm system installed about one and a half year ago. We had several services done already. We were out of the country and the window sensor was already low battery(the system was just installed less than 3 months then) and they have to call our emergency contacts. We have to call overseas to make sure nothing is wrong with our house since they left messages that we have to call them back immediately. I was quite disappointed because the system was just installed and I already have problems with it. The succeeding months we have plenty more of problems such as two of the sensors are not communicating and then they also have to change the entire control panel since they cannot resolve our problems. Recently, the sensor went low battery, I called them up and they said it was going to be covered and I didn't have to pay anything, bu then after the technician changed the battery, they sent me a bill for $37! The battery cost only $4 if you buy them from the store. I should have changed it myself if it weren't for the customer service staff telling me that I wouldn't pay anything if they come and do it themselves. What kind of staff they have? They give customers inaccurate information and then charged you ridiculous amount for cheap batteries that they claim will last 3 years! I haven't even with them 2 years and I already have two sensors with low battery! I wouldn't recommend this company at all. Don't waste your time and money with them.

Vector Security Unethical Practice

I am being railroaded by this company. I had ordered one of those security monitors for my 86 year old mother. I got her this as a Xmas present. I was told I could cancel it at anytime, if she decided she didnt want it. After about 3 or 4 months, my mother didn't want it any longer, and my sister moved in with her to care for my mother. Well...I was told I would have to pay the whole contract, and that I signed the documents agreeing to this. I did not sign anything, what happened was when they came over my mothers house to install the equipment, they told my mother to sign several papers, which she did, not knowing what the heck she was signing, figuring they needed her signature because they had put in the monitor...So...with that said, I AM NOT PAYING THEM ONE DAMN DIME. I THINK IT'S HORRIBLE THAT THEY WANT TO MAKE AN 89 YEAR OLD WOMAN, WHO DOESN'T REMEMBER FROM ONE DAY TO THE NEXT, TO PAY THAT BILL! Do not pay them anything...they can not FORCE you to pay, they're just intimidating you...don't fall for it. I too couldn't believe what I was hearing when I was told I was bound to a contract by them...knowing I didn't sign anything. What really got to me was that I was a client of there's since 1994 for both my home and my business. And, I asked the woman I spoke to at Vector several different times if I was bound to any length of time with them, and I explained that my mother may not want this at all...So...IF YOU'RE READING THIS POST, DO NOT EVER USE VECTOR SECURITY, LEARN A LESSON FROM ME...

July 13, 2009. It's a scam do not sign up for a Vector security system. You will get burned. This is the same exact story taking place with my mom, who is 87 years old and has short term memory. Vector Security has taken an advantage of my mother. And will continue to scam other innocent consumers until the states need to intervene. We are all upset over it. She has supposedly signed a contract for $50/mo. for 5 years. We will be filing a complaint to all consumer business bureaus. Beside not paying the monthly fee does anyone have any other solutions or hints? She will not be able to pay these services. Vector Security has no ethics. Upset and mad Maryland consumer.

Vector Security Fraud and cheating

The security system stopped working, the alarm would sound off and no one would call to verify everything was okay. Vector continues to take money out of my account every month to monitor the alarm and was not doing so. Vector sent a tech out who fixed their equipment. Vector is now billing me for them fixing there equipment, while taking the monthly charge out of my account monthly... on time. I don't understand, there equipment does not work and I am charged to fiv it, I am changed and pay every month for services I was not receiving. First thing in the morning that mess is canceled.

In Sep. 2004, I contacted Vector Security, Mike Bell, regarding an article in Washington Consumers Checkbook, Vol. 11, No. 2 (Summer/Fall 1999) which indicated that “Glass Breakage Listing Device" sensors were unreliable. That evaluation was based on a study by The Association of Central Monitoring Stations. Since our residential alarm system is based on the use of these sensors for protecting our home, we were very concerned.

In response a service technician conducted a check of our in home system on 21 Sep 04. The technician's initial attempt to demonstrate the reliability of the sensors was a sham! He demonstrated questionable knowledge of the sensors as he tapped on the sensor and wall attempting to activate them. These sensors only activate to noise with the frequency of breaking glass, not physical vibrations.

I had the technician contact his boss, Mike Bell, and demanded he have someone come out with the proper testing device that duplicates the frequency of breaking glass. After contacting Mr. Bell on his cell phone, the technician had to excuse him self to go outside to complete his conversation. After completing the conversation the technician advised me that he did have the proper testing device for a Glass Breakage Listing sensor. However, as he attempted to set up the test, it was evident he was uncertain of the procedure. Being familiar with the devices, I assisted him.

The key fault with the test is that the sensors have to be placed in a “test mode" before testing them. If the sensor activates, then only the electrical circuits of the sensor's “test mode" have been verified as operational. This does not verify that the sensor will activate in its normal active “listing" mode. Our sample sensors did activate in the “test mode".

It is obvious that The Association of Central Monitoring Stations would not test, evaluate and comment on the reliability of a sensor in its “test mode". Therefore, the issue of sensor reliability, “in a real world situation", remains unanswered! I pointed this out to Mr. Bell, and his supervisor Mr. Tom McLaughlin. Neither was able, or apparently willing to work a satisfactory solution to the problem.

On 28 Sep 04, I contacted Ms. Connie Schultz, VP Vector Security in Virginia, [protected] x4037. I informed her of my negative experiences and provided her copies of the Washington Consumers Checkbook article. She advised that Vector Security was a member of The Association of Central Monitoring Stations and passed me off to Mr. Chris Adamcik, 800-0150 x4305.

I contacted Mr. Adamcik, again provided him a copy of the article and the web sites for Consumers Checkbook and The Association of Central Monitoring Stations. I then conducted follow-ups checks with him and Schultz through the month of October 2004. Their reaction to date has been evasive/non responsive to the issue of sensor reliability.

Based on my experiences with Vector Security over the last few months, as a customer I can only question their honesty and integrity in responding to a basic question, based on published information. Simply, will the sensors that we have paid for, work when we need them to? Only after getting a honest/believable response to this question, will we know our options.

I had a control panel get knocked out due to an electrical storm. They charged me $64 to send a tech out to tell me it was a broken. "I KNOW its broken. Thats why I CALLED YOU! I dont need someone to charge me $64 to tell me something I already know !" The sales dept offered to replace the panel for $100 if they could raise my monthly rate by 50%. I told them to forget it. I hired another alarm company and told Vector they were fired. They told me they require 30 days written notice to terminate my account and I still have 8 months on my contract. They ALSO said I will have to pay for the damaged panel ANYHOW as it is "leased" equipment." and must be returned in the same condition. So it will cost me a total of $640 to get away from Vector ($400 for the new panel plus 8 months x $30 monthly monitoring = $240). And after this experience with them, its worth every penny just to get rid of them! Do NOT sign up with Vector !

I agree. I worked at the Pittsburgh dispatch center for over 5 years. I heard just about every complaint out there. I was a supervisor. Vector Security not only lies to their customers, but also to their employees. The managers of the call center had us supervisors lie to the dispatchers constantly. Vector has the worst customer service that I have ever seen or heard of. They do not care about customers or their own employees. I was terminated becuase I was unable to work as much overtime as much as the managers wanted me to(they have to work if no one else will) because of my son being born. They terminated me without reason 5 days before Christmas.

TO dendeb - I have worked in the security industry for several years, in the service depart, and I hear your complaint. The issue was simply this. Your panel that transmits information (either via phone or radio) to the central monitoring center was never "deprogrammed" in order to cease transmissions. Therefore, every week or month (whichever the panel was programmed for), the panel would blindly send a transmission to the most recent monitoring center. Vector was most likely trying to set up an appointment to deprogram your panel so it would no longer do this. I actually had to explain this to several thousand customers when our company experienced the same thing. Now imagine this. Not to condone such inapproprate customer service, but the person/people trying to explain the situation had probably had the same conversation with several dozen people that week alone; it can be very frustrating when your clients have no idea how a system works (no offense of course).

With that being said, I have no first hand experience with Vector, but have thought about applying there as I have recently moved back to Pittsburgh. Thank you for expressing your opinion towards Vector as I would much rather no associate myself with a low standard company.

Good luck with your new security company. I hear SSA is great! (And they have their own monitoring center)

I have a story about Vector that is different from any that I've read so far. We had our system installed by Triple A Security, then after a few years Vectot bought them out. Once Vector was the service provider problems arose, we discontinued servive in 2004 due to dissatisfaction, paid whatever outstanding money we owed them and thought that was it. I would like to add that when the system was first installed we actually purchased the equipment, so we OWN the system that remains in our home. This being said, after all these many years, (approximately 6 years), we began recieving phone calls from Vector. A person named Leeann was leaving messages telling us that we "needed to set up an appointment for service, because they're getting signal from our home", I called this Leeann, and attempted to explain that we no longer were involved with Vector, basically she ignored me and continued to say that we needed to have a technician come into our home to disconnect the transmitter to end this problem for Vector. Why would any normal person allow a 'technician ' from a company into their home if they have no service contract, nor are they under any obligation to this company in any way? Every day Vector continually harrasses us with phone calls, finally, I called and spoke with a supervisor by the name of Laura, after explaining this rediculous situation to her, she was totally unreasonable, and told me that I will be billed by Vector unless I allow a technician to enter my home to disconnect this transmitter. We have made numerous attempts to dissconnect this transmitter ourselves, only problem, the metal boxes are bolted shut! This is not our problem, it is Vectors problem, if their system wasn't so antiquated they would be able to disconnect the signal from our home remotely. Imagine, they're expecting us to allow someone from their company, to do work on a house that we own, on equipment we own! What if their technician causes damage? Don't we have a right to say who comes into our home? If the transmitter was an issue we should have been informed at the time we discontinued service, however, there was no mention of this, and no communication with them for more than 6 years. My advice? Don't use this security service, they are so disorganized and will cause you grief for years to come. One last thing, I asked 'what if I had sold my home?' I was told 'that would be different'...different in what way? These employees make no sense, this company makes no sense.

It's a fact. The Dispatch Center at 23 Casey Ave in Wilkes Barre Closed. A guy that was a manager there told me that they came in and shut them down. The incompetent, sick all the time, never in the building one had a baby and was asked to not come back. After that the training manager found a better job and he left. The others weren't worth a dime and they shuffled them all out! You are right, they have the highest employee turnover in the industry and it caught up to them. I wonder what they will do with the other Centers. I guess you have to really have to be dangerous to lose big like this. Hey, in this economy you don't get far by cheating the customer.

Agree, I heard they went in there and shut down one of their dispatch centers! Its about time! They didn't help or protect us when we had a burglary. The system wasnt even hooked up... it went off at the home but never sent a signal because the dope forgot to connect a wire! Shut em' all down! And arrest em'!

They're monitoring centers are so backed up with false alarms from faulty equippment and lack of dispatchers that should you have an actual emergency you don't stand a chance of getting help. Technicians installing equipment have no more experience than students and the people monitoring have even less. They're employee turnover rate is the highest in the industry. Its also true that they monitor for many small alarm companies that cannot afford to have a dispatch center. Vector Security demonstrates how to roll with the ecconomy... buy, buy, buy, acquire more, sell, sell, sell, farm out, but while you collect all the money... don't hire enough people to care for the people you say you protect! It should be illegal, they put people in danger for the almighty buck!

You will never get out of that contract, just like all of the other people that call in on a daily basis insisting to be let go. And you will never get the same associate twice as they hire over 100 people a year to replace the ones that quit. Do you ever listen to whats going on in the backround when and if you do get through to a live person. They scream and yell at their employees, degrade them and cut up while they are on the phones with people. Dosn't anyone read about them, they lie and cheat. They steal and they get away with it unless you have a good lawyer. They also have other companies lying. They monitor the alarms for Security First and Advent Security in PA and when they're asked outright they have to lie. They monitor 100's of alarms with only 3 and 4 people on staff, and go ahead... ask them why it took them so long to call you when the alarm goes off! 9 times out of 10 the person calling you is so new to the field they don't even know what to say and how to answer a simple question. You will never get the same answer twice. They make it up as they go along. And ask for a manager too. You will get a crazy woman to yell at you and say she is in charge. She will insult you and stop you from getting a word in edgewise but you will never get a call back from management! Face it, if you signed on with Vector Security you might as well put the money you owe them into a good attny now, thats the only was to deal with this company. And watch some of the others too, they may say they are not affiliated with Vector but as soon as you get one of their "newbies" to slip, you will find out differently.
