Being overcharged for poor education.
I being over charge for my education because of lack of education in the field. As a student in Vatterott Education Center in Dallas Tx 75220, I was recieving all A in all my class but couldnt proform well in the work force. I believe if i would of had more time in the lab, i would of been more marketable in the work field. Please help me, thank you.
Bad Instructor
First and for most don't misunderstand me, I went into the medical field to be a medical assistant because I love helping people. But after attending this school I am not so sure if I should continue in this field. I may not hit base on every subject or topic, but I shall do my best. Now lets get down to business and let me start at the beginning. I started on the 19th of October in the year of 2009 and I officially did my last extern day on the 16th of December of 2010. So I guess that you can say that I did 14 months total. On orientation night we all sat patiently and quietly waiting for the new instructor to walk in. Considering that this was a brand new school, we all could smell the newness of everything. We waited for about 15 minutes and in walked our overweight, black teacher. Now she talked to us and told us what to expect of not only her but the school as well. She appeared a bit apprehensive and cool at first, but later on she was not cool at all. She said what she had to say, other instructors and staff talked, and we went home. It lasted all of 2 hours. We started a week later on a Monday. She started out as being a cool instructor, someone that you could talk to, ya know a friendly person. Well, we all were wrong. First, she found out what she could about us and used it against us by talking down to us, screaming at grown adult women, and making us feel as if we couldn't accomplish anything at all. Second, she cursed us out and had favorites in her night class. Oh yeah, I was in the day class, by the way. She talked bad about us to the women in the night class until they wouldn't even socialize with us and they would turn their noses up at us. She would take off points if we did the littlest thing and would change her teaching ways just to set us up for failure. She would not teach us everything that we needed to know. She would come in everyday and talk about her family and about her problems. Hell, she even talked about how much sex that she was getting. Now that was taking it too far. Not only that, but she had very limited knowledge of medical assistant procedures. She talked about how we were nothing but ghetto project hoes, how we were never, ever going to reach our dreams, and that we might as well just give up. She wanted a lot of us to fail, but only a few dropped out. The majority of us passed. She talked about how we looked, smelled, and dressed. She went to a strip club, on business hours, with the females in the night class. We all told the managers on her but nothing was done about it. Now she works at the other campus, I think Berkley, in charge of strictly the externship sites. Not only that but the school in Fairview Heights, Illinois didn't have everything that we needed, especially not in the lab. We had to wait for weeks and sometimes even months for our books and other materials. It is a good thing that the school was free because they weren't yet approved of grants and loans. Bu bestides that, she made us feel like ###! There are so many people in our day class that don't even want to attend the graduation because of her and her ###. Many people even went to corporate but the only thing that was done is that she was talked to about her behavior. Now that didn't change anything, it only made her worse. I feel cheated, dazed and confused by these events. I feel like she should not be working for Vatterott College at all. She shouldn't even be allowed to work in the medical field at all. If you could see and hear what i did, you would feel the same way too. I am so freaking angry and shocked that Vatterott College would allow such a thing at their school. But what do you expect out of a second rate school?!

At least, as you stated, it was free . I am currently there and the only real issue I have had is the disbursement of the loans. Oh and the corporate number on the internet sites (since Vatterott does not list it) is no longer in service. I wonder why. My instructors were AWESOME and I Love the Paralegal field. My main issue is the inconsistency of the student loan disbursement. The books seem VERY expensive, but I have not been in college for over 20 years prior to this round.
Good Luck with your career and I hope you don't let one snot of an instructor bring you down.
I feel for you! same things going on at the KC, Mo. campus... they are totally bogus when it comes to an education! they sell lies to people wanting more, but they can not hold up to their end of the bargain. they need to be shut down and refund all tuitions
Anyone who has stepped foot in a Vatterott ought to be smart enough to know it sucks ### ### a school. Just search the internet and if you can read you will figure it out soon enough.
Oh and one more thing. Nancy Brown runs Vatterott! All of her co-workers are afraid of her. The lady doesn't have professional bone in her body. She speaks to the students like she hates her job and to her co-workers like she "IS" corporate! Personally I think they're afraid to fire her..Lol When she tells Diane to "JUMP" Diane yells "How Hi Massa"? Lol I'm waiting on the day she speaks to the wrong person like she does and they smack her face! I'm sure it won't be long... Someone already put a bullet hole in one of there office windows...
To Coby 9000...I agree with you on what you said about the instructor that was so called. "teaching" at your schools campus and it's funny because I think I know which instructor you may be referring to. I attended the Berkley campus for over a year in the medical field and the same thing happened there..It's so sad. There were and maybe still are at least 3-5 instructors at the Berkley campus that DON'T HAVE A CLUE! You can't tell me they ALL have worked in the field when one of my peers was offered a job as an instructor right after graduation! Are you kidding me? I advise everyone I know to go somewhere like Flo-Valley or Forrest Park Community College. You'll get a decent education at an affordable price!
To the *Brenda* lady...Look YOU MUST EITHER BE or KNOW the instructor she was referring to for you to be so defensive. The "complaints" she have about her instructor ARE RELEVANT! Of course it's none of her business..but did she ask the lady what she does in her private life? Hell no! She spoke about it to her students like they ALL DO! Know one walks in and say to the instructor, " Hey Ms...Did you happen to get laid last night?" Nope! This info is what the instructors believe to be part of the curriculum. As far as how bad it would be once, if ever we're offered a job in the medical field is concerned... Can't be worse than attended that school.! LOL! By the way...don't hate on her because she put you or your loved one on BLAST! Just thank God everyone who has attended the school didn't sit down one day to type out complaints...Vatterott would be shut down and the instructors wouldn't be able to show there faces in public ever again! Coby 9000..I pray that you are blessed from here on out. As for you *Brenda* I'll just pray for you PERIOD! God Bless :)
Lies, overcost, and more lies
I am a student at Vatterott College, the Oklahoma City campus. Where to begin?! They have yet to do a thing they said they would. I was told I'd learn everything I needed to know, that I would recieve excellent quality in education, and that I would recieve an externship. Sounded great so I enrolled. I'm currently in my 5th phase of 6 phases. After my 6th phase, I am to obtain my Medical Assisting Diploma. Good for me right? Wrong.
I'm about to have my diploma and I just recently found out that I will NOT learn how to draw blood, I will NOT recieve an externship, and the only way I will recieve these things is if I take out ANOTHER loan (a $10, 000 loan) and stay for an extra 3 phases (30 weeks) to get an Associates in Medical Assisting- not what they told me AT ALL. So, if I don't want to take out another loan(on top of the $20, 000 loan I took out for the first 6) I will be forced to go look for a job without an externship, and if I'm lucky enough to even get a job, THEY will have to teach me how to draw blood and all the other procedures I will need to do.
This school has completely ripped me off! In the meantime, I'm still here. Trying to make it to school everyday, and do all my work knowing it will get me nowhere. The only reason I feel obligated to obtain the useless diploma is because I paid 20 G! So might as well have SOMETHING to show for it.
90 hours of lecture time? More like 90 hours of Facebook time! Externship? Oh yeah, for an extra 10 G on top of the first 20.
This school is such a joke.
Sitting at Vatterott writing this complaint, and my teacher is sitting right next to me.
Yes, this school is a joke. I am DISGUSTED.
This is the worst mistake of my life.
OH YES! DID I MENTION- everyone else I know who went to school for medical assisting completed there work in about 7 months (that includes the externship guys!).
I've been here a year :)
That's right, a year!

I'll tell you how to pick a school.
1) First eliminate any school that advertises on radio or TV. They want money, most of the time they are for profit institutions and most of the time the education is crap.
2) Second if the school is not under the scrutiny of the State Board of Regents stay away.
3) Third call five other school and ask if they accept credits from the school you are considering.
4) Check the Better Business Bureau and if the school has ever had a complaint, even if it was resolved, do not go to the school. Again, in order to have BBB complaints the school is a business and not a state sanctioned school.
Never ever ever consider any career school. In the USA career school is just synonymous with cash cow operation and it is all about money - NOT EDUCATION.
If it sounds good, easy or quick you better think long and hard because there is no magical pill to getting quality education. Don't be suckers people these career institutions are junk science pure and simple.
I also went to vatterott at a different location. I just went throught the first six phases. I did learn how to draw blood, give injections, etc but bc our school has such a bad reputation, i can't get hired. I was a valedictorian and passed my certification . It would have been nice if someone would have told me to just get a cna license for $300 and i could've started making the same amount of money. I am now 20k in debt and have to start paying my loans next month. i wish there was a lawsuit I could file against them but i'm not sure how to get started. I'm just upset bc they targeted me. They knew i was feeling bad about myself, they knew i wanted to better myself, all they care about is getting the money and they get bonuses for every student they get to come there that's why they call you if you miss a couple days they don't really care.
Accounting department refused to give me an itemized bill
I attended this school from august 2, 2010 until august 16, 2010 and i submitted my letter on resignation on august 17, 2010 about 1:00pm. I was advised at that time that i should call the school back around the end of august to find out if i owe the school any money. I called the school at the end of august and i was told by a very rude person in accounting that my financial aid money was sent back to the lender and i owe the school $664. 59 and that i would receive and itemized bill in the mail. I waited and waited but never received a anything in the mail regarding this money that i was told that i owed the school. I called the lender continuously and they said no refund was received from the school, so finally i called the accounting department again and left messages about the end of october and never received a call back. I called the finance department and spoke to a gentleman by the name of mike groos on november 4th 2010 and he sent me a copy of my ledger card which i didn't understand. The next week i received a letter from diane walton in the accounting department dated nov10, 2010 at the north park
Campus request payment of the $664. 59. Next i called the lender again and now it shows that the funds have been returned. I received another letter from diane walton dated nov 19, 2010 stating my account will soon be referred to collections and mark for "final inspection" and please be advised that this is my 2nd appeal for you to remit the outstanding balance or call me to discuss a payment plan. I called diane walton on nov 29, 2010 and requested an itemized bill and she said they don't send out itemized bills. She then stated i can tell you what you owe. She told me that i owe $587. 00 for my books and the rest is for partial tuition and uniform fees. I requested to speak with somone else and she put her supervisor on the phone and her name is nancy brown i asked again for an itemized bill and ms brown told me she just told you we don't provide that and you owe $664. 59 for books, partial tuition and uniform fees. I asked her why am i paying for uniforms i have never seen or worn and she said because the school had to pay for them. I asked her were are the uniforms and she said at the school. I asked why can't they recycle the uniforms and she said no one can use these uniforms because they have my name on them, so they are just sitting at the school. I asked why am i paying $587. 00 for 2 books and a 2gb flash drive that only cost a total of about 100. 00 and she said well you had the option of purchasing your books elsewhere but since you didn't you have to pay what the school charges. I told her the books have never been used and neither has the flash drive and she had no response. I asked ms brown if there is a corporate office or someone over her that i can speak to and she said no. I told her that i will find someone else to help me and she said well do whatever you have to do.
I've asked for my records of financial aid disbursed and itemized bill for the time I've attended in [protected]. The FA lady took over 2 weeks to respond to my email and gave me the wrong fax number to fax my signed request form. Emailed her over a week ago and still waiting to hear back. She told me they couldn't release my records to me personally but could to a lawyer or needed to come up and could review them myself but not obtain copies to do the math because they over charged me, lost one of my signed financial aid forms (I have the taped conversation when Marcy in FA told me about losing it), and lied about how much they needed in loans for me to attend. I'm considering litigation with a couple of other former Omaha students.
Typical Vatterott! I'm enrolled now :( such a rip off!
I have to finish this last phase just to feel like $20, 000 loan wasn't for nothing! But it really was. I don't get an externship, I haven't learned how to draw blood, and If I want these things?
Well I need to take out another $10, 000 loan and stay an extra 30 weeks to recieve my Associates.
Vatterott College / Vatterott Educational Centers - Scam and lies
Look, to all who knocks this school. The one thing is ... you get what you put into it. This is not a 4year college. The education is training and only a stepping stone. Yes, this school has no real education transfer credits to a college (Heck, I had one college tell me that my A.O.S. degree is only a piece of paper) and is a school for adults. So, for...

Before I even graduated the codes for medical billing had changed and we never were given the oppertunity to take the course over to learn the new codes. They never helped me find a job after I graduated. The career counselor has called me SEVERAL times about job possibilities but never contacts me to let me know anything else. This is a very poor schooling for the amount of student loan I had to take out. Their loan lenders... that's another BAD parrt of this deal. I wasn't even late on my payment and omg, they called my phone 3 times a day, 5 days of the week. I am going to have to remove that part of my resume to even get any type of job. I feel this is UNFAIR to us as medical office students! The government needs to step in and take a good look around this college and the way it is doing their "graduates" !

Low Quality of Education
I went to this school from April of 2008 till May of 2009. And I must say, it is by far the worst decision I have ever made. Please, if you are intending on enrolling into Vatterott College's Computer Technology program think long and hard about your decision. Tuition is 23, 000 for the diploma (60 weeks) and 12, 000 extra for the degree program. Let me summarize what happened. In March 2008, I was interested in attending a school for a Computer Technology program with the belief that I would recieve an adequate education to allow me to find a good job in the computer tech world. So I went to Vatterott to see what their program offered. Now remember, being fresh into Computer Technolgy I was not aware of what most employers would require and whether or not Vatterott would give me the education to meet those requirements. But I thought that for 23, 000 they would give me a really good education. The lab fees themselves are $900. So based on the amount I was paying for the lab, I really thought It was going to be used.
When you arrive, an admission coordinator shows you a little presentation on his/her computer and gives you a tour around the school. Then they tell you that vatterott is "selective". I am assuming they tell you this to make you feel special about getting ripped off. They give you some little assessment to see how smart you are. I got 35 out of 50 right, when they accept as little as 12. The only reason I did not get the others right is because I ran out of time and never got to the other questions. They were simple questions, and judging by some of the other students in the class, they will pretty much accept anyone willing to shell out 23, 000 to the greedy Vatterott family.
The course is split into 6 10 week phases in which they try to cover material that in a regular college can barely be covered in a semester. 2 and a half months is not enough time to cover most of the material, but they try to accelerate the program for some stupid reason, so you end up with a worthless diploma and a subpar education. I am not saying the professors are that bad, they are pretty good actually. However there were times when the professors would just read out of the book and not really teach the material. I do not feel that was fair, since I could have read the book on my own for a much lower price and recieved the same education. In fact one professor had tuesdays and thursdays off and hired an adjunct professor to help on those days. In one phase, that adjunct professor did not have the knowledge of the subject that qualified him to teach it, and so half of that entire phase was wasted. Also, it seems that most jobs that can be found posted on the internet want you to know some programming language and the closest Vaterott gets to teaching any language is HTML. That is unacceptable. The labs were never covered very well by the professor, and I applied for a job last week, had an interview and was told that I did not have enough knowledge for the position. It was going to be either a tech or sales position. If after 60 weeks and 23, 000 dollars, I don't have enough knowledge for a low level job in a local computer repair shop then I feel that Vatterott owes me my money back. I feel justified in asking for a full refund, a cancellation of all loans and a return of all grant money. Since I don't believe they will refund my money, I know that what I can do is help others to not make the same mistake. So if you are hoping to attend Vatterott, please don't. Please research your chosen degree and see if a local college offers a better option for a lower price as they do in Springfield. That is the route I should have gone, but now looking back I wish I would have never stepped foot in Vatterott. I owe over 14, 000 in loans now, and if I can't find a good enough job, I will be in serious debt and probably unable to pay it off.

- I worked as a janitor from 7AM - 330PM (Mon-Fri)
-I attended Vatterott College, Sunset Hills Campus HVAC/AOS (Night Class) equals 4 1/2 to 5 hours sleep every night.
-I ironed my uniform, shined my boots, drove to school and ate while I studied/reviewed in my old pick-up truck at the parking lot of Sunset Hills Campus.
-I paid attention to my instructors took notes, asked for clarifications, read reading assignments, etc/ (Terry, Leon, Jeff, Frank, Mario, to name a few)
-I was the first one to start lab, and the LAST one to leave. 9PM to 1030ish was the best part, Instructors mentioned above would show and tell real world "service calls" situations based on their experiences. As part of Lab Time, they would purposely place system operational and mechanical faults. Then, I would troubleshoot the system based on the fundamentals as they stood behind me, guiding me thru the process. My sheet metal instructor (Mr. "J") challenged me to fabricate intricate duct works, My brazing instructor (Mr. "T") was extra critical, he made sure my braze looked good and did not leak!. My Boiler Instructor Mr."M" guided us on how to disassemble, clean, install additional radiant heater, and re-wire the Low Pressure Boiler Systems. in addition, Mr. "M" taught us how to MIG Weld just in case we needed it in the future. Mr. "F" paired me with "Red" (He is my Hero!) and we installed a control board retro-fit.
-After I received my EPA Universal License I asked my instructors if they needed an apprentice when they perform side jobs. Under direct supervision, I was trained on how to conduct a complete tear out and installation of a residential heating and cooling units and apartment Low Pressure Steam Systems.
-Even though I was scared $#!%less I forced myself to attend every Mock Interviews held on campus. It is the best time to make mistakes! At least a job is not at stake.
-I struggled during the AOS portion of the program I was 47 years old at that time and my Algebra skills sucked @$$. I asked my instructor for some help. So, I ate at the parking lot then got some help on adding 2(x+4)+9=4x+...what the (explicit)!
-I graduated HVAC AOS in 2012. After numerous interviews and "zero" call backs. I was desperate. The time to repay my student loan, rent, car payment, etc. is almost here and I can not afford it on a janitor salary.
-Before each interview I would go to the rest room and motivate myself a bit by looking at the mirror and telling that reflection... I have done all that I can...and hope my accomplishments while in school would help me get a second chance. I went all in, before each interview, I would take my resume to the Vatterott front office and had them criticize add/delete information, I practiced what I learned from the mock interviews, practice, practice, practice. But I believe, showing my prospective employer all of my Perfect Attendance Certificates (from day 1 until AOS graduation), Directors List Certificates (from day 1 to AOS graduation), Student of the Phase Certificate, enabled me to get a second interview...a third interview...(lots of qualified competitors) and finally a job offer.
-Fast forward to November 5, 2012, approximately 7 months after graduation, I started my job as a Maintenance Technician for a local hospital, I work on oxygen Systems, Vacuum Systems, Air Handlers, Fan Coils, Pneumatic Controls, Radiant Heaters, Electrical Motors, Steam System, MIG, Stick Weld, etc.
-Once again...Thank You! Vatterrott College, Sunset Hills, MO. for laying out a plan on how I could achieve emotional security, financial stability during tough economic times(even at $10.10 minimum it is impossible). Even though it was the path with the MOST Resistance to succeed in life, I took a chance and I am grateful.
-A special thanks to my good friend and classmate "Steve E" (use to work for AB) for motivating me to do better in class, lab, Algebra (ugh!) and most of all... life. Mr Steve E is now a very successful Maintenance Technician responding to service calls to banks, admin buildings, medical offices in South County, Jeff County.
"Today is the first day... of the rest of my life. I better not %#@& this up.
Just dont go to vatterott, the school will tell you everything you want to here. After 20 weeks you find its a waste off time and money. If you look at vatterott talk to the people in there 40 or 50 weeks. you wont find a person saying something good about it. I went to sunset hills for hvac its a joke. I was told i will have all the tools i need to do the work by the time i left school. I left school with a meter gages and screw drivers sounds good until. You find you need so much more. My falt i looked at diffrent schools, and they were less money and gave alot more tools. MAKE YOUR TIME AND MONEY WORK FOR YOU DONT GO TOO VATTEROTT...
Vatterott College is a COMPLETE waste of money. They should be closed down. I honestly don't know how schools like this are allowed to operate. The government should shut them all down and forgive everyone's loans who were taken by them. I am in the same boat as everyone else who posted here. I attended Vatterott in Sunset Hills MO. in 2001, and went through their computer technology program. I searched for a job for 3 years before giving up and going in another direction. Over the course of that time I sent out tons of resumes and had a total of 4 job interviews, and was turned down for every single one. I even volunteered at a place for no pay to work in their IT department for 6 months just to get experience on my resume, and still nothing. I was told by their placement department that it was a "tough time" for the IT field, but the jobs would come around eventually. That never happened for me. My student loans came due and I had no job and no prospects, so i started doing bartending and other restaurant work so I could pay my loan. I owe over $26, 000 just like the other people who posted on here and couldn't be more unhappy with my decision to spend my money at that joke of a school. They boasted placement at the first meeting I had with admissions. My meeting was with a very nice looking woman, very flirtatious, showing me on paper the percentage of graduates and their salaries. This was nothing but a sales pitch to get you to sign on the dotted line. I graduated with a %98 GPA and didn't miss a day of school, and still no job for me. The classes and instructors were mediocre at best. Most of the instructors didn't really seem to care whether you got the material or not. Again, a HUGE mistake. I can't put all the blame on them though, I should have done my homework before signing the loan paperwork on that school, but I was in a desperate position at the time and easy prey for them. Makes me sick to think about it, but I have to when I make that $250 loan payment every month. If I continue to make the minimum payment every month for the next 16 years I will have paid around $45, 000 for this. I wish there was a way to get my money back from them, but I know that is probably not going to happen, so the best I can do is maybe enlighten anyone who is considering making the same mistake I did. DON'T DO IT! Go to a real four year university and get a degree in Computer Science or Information Systems. You will get much farther with something like that.
im currently attending the Vatterott in Sunset Hills Mo. im doing building maintence and i believe that im not being taught everything my teacher tells just show up sign in and you can leave theres no stucture in the class this is my 7th week and man do i hope things get better but thats all for now i figured i would share my storie that pretty much already compares to the rest and im on in my 7th week
I had to agree with the angry person, I myself attended Liar-Rott(Vatterott College) from December 2001 to Aug. 2003, and didn't learn much. No, I didn't cheat myself, I read everything in the book they gave me. Yeah, I took there little test before attending, a 5th grader could pass it. When I completed there 60 week program, I thought wow, I got an associates degree, soon to find out later that there Associates Degree of Occupational Studies in Computer Programming and Networking System Administration was full of Bull***t. A lot of IT jobs and job places I applied at said they never heard of Vatterott College and there credentials are non transferrable, meaning its not a regconziable school. I live in Des Moines, Iowa. When I got interview for my first job for an I.T., I told them I gradauted from Vatterott, they said to me, 'What is that, some make-Believe school'. Isn't that something. Now I'm stuck with a $22, 000 student loan and I ended up working in a factory with 6 others who went there. Vatterott should be burn down. I have nothing against the professors, but just the way they do things. COBOL is obsolete, but they still teach it, everything is widows base, no linux. They don't teach enough, to me it was just self taught. If I known it to be like that, I would stay home, do it myself, and save $27, 000. Another thing was a lot jobs that I applied for said I lack the skills, but I didn't understand that. All they teach was basic Visual Basic, HTML, little bit of java. The place was at 6100 Thorton Ave., Des Moines, Iowa 50321, now its moved again for the fifth time. Its a fraudulent school, check up on it first. I should have stayed at Des Moines Area Community College, but I didn't feel like taking the extra curriculum classes. That screwed me up BAD.
Well my name is Tee R.
I graduated from the Sunset Hills, Missouri campus in August of 2008. I agree with angrystudent here. For two years I have been trying to get pc technician jobs and help desk positions only to be told over and over countless times that I do not have enough experience. Hell even when Vatterott tried to help me they would e-mail me job postings that I was not qualified to do. Every job I interviewed for required a ton of other things that Vatterott didnt cover.
The problem is the first two classes we all were forced to take should no longer be taught. Is it really important that I know how resistors, capicitors, and diodes work. Don't get me wrong I'm glad to know it for [censor] and grins but a total waste of time and money. Then they have an entire DOS class which was hell for me to learn. I did recieve A+ Certification which helps. But despite the fact that I have over 7 years with computer hardware and configuration...hell I've build several PC's and still that can't convince employers to hire me. I only got my degree of AOS Computer Systems and Network Technology so I could get an entry level IT job.
You know what? My Vatterott degree is complete crap the education was lousy they're job assistance sucks and the lectures were severely lacking in up to date information. They spend way too much time on "old" technology and nothing up to date. They're so called state of the art facilities are crap at least in the CT program. Hell the PC's we broke down and rebuilt were probably torn down thousands of times. I agree its good to learn the old stuff as you will deal with machines that use IDE hard drives for example but why not learn SATA why not learn the lates in memory technology why not let us learn with Solid State Drives.
I hate to say it but Vatterott was a total waste of time and money that I will be paying for years to come. To this day $26, 000.00 in student loans. I will say my instructors were awsome and I liked every one of them. It's not them that I resent, it's the entire program. Don't even get me started on they're general education program I had to go through. Most of that consisted of stuff that a 5th grader could do. More on that some other time. To all of you that got screwed with Vatterott I totally feel for you and wish you the best of luck. I'm going back to what I'm good at...Sales. And maybe later in life truck driving
I have a son in the same situation. They didn't teach any usable technologies. No languages, other than HTML. No operating systems. It wasn't a matter of what he put into it. It was a full failure on their part to offer any training that could translate to usable skills for the marketplace. When it came time to "assist" him in finding a job (they tout that they will help you find one), all they could help him find was a job filling ink cartridges. Now there is a real IT job! And no, it wasn't a matter of not projecting the right image either. He couldn't even get interviews. I asked a friend who received his resume for a job opening. My friend told me his company won't even look at people from schools like Vatterot because they don't teach any usable skills.
So now my son is unable to find suitable work and is in default on his loan.
The origianal vatterott in St Ann missouri, told me that I wouldnt do go ### a paralegal, but ### a secretary, and when they foun out that i was in default on my student loan well that interview with them went out off the window instead of telling me how 2 get on of default. they did me a favor. I was young and naive then, I glad some one was watching over me Good luck
onsecondthought I started in IT in 1977. I have some working knowledge of Vatterott and its Computer Technology curriculum. Any "so called" college level institution that in the year 2009 teaches Windows 2000 as current technology, fails to teach linux and fails to provide learning benchmarks that are related to working technology is way off target. This school is simply a cash cow and it uses every avenue and angle to squeeze state funds, federal funds, grant money. parents and students. The only way Vatterott gets that money is to keep its learning standards low, thereby insuring that as many students stay enrolled as possible. That school is a farce. There are scores of former instructors and students who are well aware of this.
If you honestly believe that this school teaches contemporary technologies or actually gives a hoot whether its graduates are top notch competitors in the job market, I would encourage you to enroll and spend your money and see if your opinion remains the same. Vatterott college is one big snowjob.
You only get out of education what you put into it, if this job did not find you qualified for the position maybe you didn't project your qualification very well in the interview, or maybe you just interview poorly and this was a "nice" way of them telling you that you didn't perform in the interview how they needed. It sounds like you are disappointed in yourself and are displacing your anger on to the school you attened. I came from a 4 year state university and had teachers that read out of the books I also had to take a lot of classes that did not pertain to my major, which from what I understand your school did not require of you, which cuts the time you have to attend down. While you have every right to feel "cheated" maybe you should reconsider the reason why...where you "cheated" by the school or did you "cheat" yourself by not fully utilizing all the resources offered?
miss billing, hostile enviornment, break contract
i with drew from vatterott college after witnessing an altecation between an instuctor (steve horne) and a student. the instructor was verbally assulting the student and threw things around the room. this left us with out an instuctor. i left and informed steve that i would not be returning. vatterott had me come in cause they didn't want to lose another student, at the time i was having trouble with day care for my child so thry insisted that i sign a leave of absence, so i followed thier advise. i was contacted a while later and i told them that i wasn't returning. vatterott then sent a letter saying i owed them money and threatend to take further action if i didn't pay, i didn't understand where this had came from when i was told that i was completely coverd between my grants and loans. i had them send me a copy of the bill from begining to end and i feel that they had over charged from the contracted first year expence to the amount billed, i also feel that vatterott was in breach of contract by failing to provide an instructor for that period of time, and for allowing that kind of behavior.
Lets break it down...
Less than 30 days I beleve the government says you don't pay ..
A writen letter stating why you diden't feel that you were receiving the education you paid for, is by Vatterotts own terms, sufficiant proticol to put in motion a resalution..
In short.. Fight It.. don't let Yourself get ripped off...
By the way...check into Pheonix or Ottawa U, they do accept Vatterott credits at aproxamitly 72 whole credits towards a bachlors (thats for approx 104 Vatterott credits ) " And you must of compleated the AOS "...
I'm finding the instructors in my field of choice to be quite good
though I'm ticked off at how the school is run overall (upper managment and/or corporate ) In closing...Your right about being Technically up to date, The computors and the so called advanced computors books (microsoft 2003) are F****** dinasours...As for the job after...you might be able to mark it up to the times, College grads all across America are finding it hard to get employment.

My hours
Vatterott college is a joke! They steal hours from students that have rightfully earned them and gave those hours to a student who can not show up to school on time, who wont do anything to help out and is completely irresponsable. The student with the hours had a weeks worth of hours built up, hours of which would cover the scheduled days off(those of which are national holidays but yet have to be made up) and cover the day she needs to take off for a doctors appointment, insted she finds out that her hours have been cut that she can not miss any school, yet the student which was held over cause she had to make hours up had another week to make up but all the sudden no longer had that week to make up. Thus the hard working student loses a weeks worth of hours and the student having to make hours up gains a week. Thats bull if you ask me. There should be no student facutly relationships either, thats not professional, if they want a relationship they should keep it off campus.
i think that if you have a problem with a school you shouldn't attend that school and if you really had a problem with that you should own up to what you're saying you should put your name on there. and you should bring facts to the table instead of accusations that are not backed with any kind of merit.

Accreditation and poor education quality
I am a graduate of Vatterott College Des Moines, Iowa. I went through the Mdical Office Assistant program and moved on to the Medical Assisting Program. I have been out of school for over two years and have yet to find anyone that will transfer my credits so I can further my education in the medical field. I was also very upset about the fact that the other colleges I have been talking to asked me about classes I had taken, and since Vatterott College does not offer elective class like English, Math, Science and a History class of some kind I will have to take CLEP tests to test out of these classes, which are expensive, or take them all over again. I will have to take all my medical assisting classes over again anyway because the credits are non-transferable to anywhere except Vatterott College and I can't go any farther than what I had already done.
I am just frustrated with them. I was younger and just wanted to go to a College. They didn't inform me of the accreditation of their schools, or the fact that I cannot go anywhere else with the knowledge I obtained there. The teachers were great, but the curriculum was vague and not specific enough to really work and actually know what I was doing.
I now have to pay back over 20, ooo dollars in student loans for a degree that is not worth the paper it was printed on. I am now having to start over with my education and that was the last thing I wanted to do. I now know that ACCSCT Accreditation is not good enough, I have done many months worth of research to find that anything that is not accredited by the High Learning Commission is good enough.
I hope that this will help people open their eyes in the future about "strip mall" colleges.
Thank you,
Amanda Estrada.
I am a 2013 graduate of medical assisting with limited rad. I passed state boards for certification, I went into Des Moines college today to get help from career services on specific issues. Nicole is no longer employed as career services, who in the past was always helpful and got me through some obsticle's. A Lindsey is now career service who is rude, lazy, couldn't figure out what her job title means. I have never had a single problem for the three years I attended there until today. Before I even arrived she was trying to cancel my appointment. She had no intention helping me. I will never seek advice from that school ever again and advice future want a be students not to apply with any Vatterott. She gave them a black eye. Thanks Marge June 18, 2014
Has anyone started a class action lawsuit against them?
Amanda,
I too have been dealing with this. I graduated in May of 2004 with an AOS in computer systems and network technology. we had one teacher that was to teach web design and she had not a clue.. her idea of doing web design was read chapters 5-10 - FOR 4.5 HOURS.. really... I was told as many of my classmates were as well that most of your credits should transfer. I am now ready to go back to school to get my bachelors degree. I had aquired 108 credits and the school will transfer 16 and i think its only because they felt sorry for me. I have contacted the Director at the Des Moines campus regarding this and i am not good enough for her to reply to so i went through the corporate office. The guy that i spoke to was not happy with me. I asked for a list of all the schools with in a 60MI radius that Vatterott has contracts with and i was told that they dont have any. THIS IS FRAUD MY FELLOW VATTEROTT FRIENDS. I suggested that they make an effort to obtain contracts with schools around the DSM campus and he stated and i quote "do you know how much work that would be" yes i kid you not that is what he said. So i said... oh i didnt realize that all Vatterott Employees were lazy.. I thought it was just the campus i went to .. well that about sums it up... Except i am contacting the BBB and the Attorney Generals office. If i can get enough people to help me out i would like to start a lawsuit against them for fraud. 25, 000 student loan for a school that i am embarrassed to tell people that i went to... THIS SUCKS...

Vatterott College / Vatterott Educational Centers - Poor education, companies will not hire graduates
I graduated from Vatterott College's Computer Systems & Network Technology Associates Degree Program about 6 months ago. Vatterott DID NOT live up to their promises. Their promotional literature stated that the classes would cover setting up and deploying a network (OOPS); it didn't. We didn't set up even one server. The enrollment counselor said the...
