Uptown Firestone / Fraudulent company
April 1st 2009 brought car in to take a look at. Was having problem with a clunking noise that I thought was cb boot or sway bar. I took my car to firestone uptown and the mechanic that looked at it went thru a check list and he said that he check windshield wiper fluid but he didn't. The fluid light was still on and the tank was still empty. He also said that the manifold was leaking and thats when a questioned him because I had it fixed 3 weeks prior from a different shop. Thats when he said he was looking at the old recommend record the last time the car was their. Then he also said that the cars outer tie rods needed replacing and the sway bar also. They also said the car was unsafe to drive and that I should at least get the outer tie rods fixed. I told them that times were tough and I didn't really want to keep put money into the car but they said that I could put it on my firestone credit card. To have everything done would have cosed over $900. I started to feel uncomfortable and decide to get a second opinion. So I brought it to a different shop and they looked over the sheet that firestone uptown gave me and they found nothing wrong with the manifold and nothing wrong with the outer tie rods either. The sway bar did need to be replaced. It makes me very angry that firestone tried to charge me money for something that didn't need fixing. And saying that my car was unsafe to drive. They tried using the unsafe to drive to get me to have them fixs something that wasn't needing fixing. You would think you could trust a business because they are regulated by state and federal laws. Now I wonder of all the other work they did in the past was necessary.
