I have seen a lot of complaints about UPS and I have no doubt in my mind that they are correct. I work for UPS. They are the most self-centered, dishonest and discriminatory company as far as I know. As with lot of companies, the phrase “who you know is who you blow” applies here too. Having the unpleasant experience of being in the “pool” for part-time management promotion, it seems that all the candidates that are hired are young, inexperienced and should we say... less intelligent. And these people are managing the real people who are handling your packages and making the money for the upper management who decides where it is wasted... upper management of course!

It is funny to see when they are pinching minutes from the occupational (i.e. hourly employees) in order to save money and shoveling it to the management. But hey, that’s free enterprise procedure.

After having the experience of several years at UPS, they have literally liquidated my loyalty. I use to be loyal to UPS and do my job to the best, but today work is still done to the best, but the loyalty is gone. And this is due to the discriminatory and dishonest way of dealing with people. I got screwed in the process and I’m sure there are more to count. If I may say something that UPS did right, was the color they chose. It is brown, and it reflects the color of ###. BIG ###.

The troubles at UPS are endless. Employee turnover is horrible and since they are treating the people as they are, word gets around and eventually you run out of employees. But that is something that they are not concerned. Also, UPS wants to be the “safety organization of the world” but anything that is unsafe is usually ignored and even if acknowledged, it takes forever to fix it. So when you say UPS, might as well say “ooops...” .

So for all the people out there, you are NOT stuck with UPS. Use FedEx, USPS (United States Postal Services) or DHL. I was actually shocked to find out that FedEx “ground” is CHEAPER than UPS after they bought out a low cost package carrier. FedEx is more reliable in my mind and I cannot remember having complaint about them. Postal services have more alternatives than ever before and you can always check DHL references on-line. I am personally applying a job at DHL just for the challenge. I know that I can contribute to them or any other company more than I can to UPS. Knowledge increases the pain they say, and now I know what they meant by that. So please be noted that I do not like UPS just for the reason that I do know the truth.

Peace, Upser.

I have a friend that shipped a desktop computer to me from LA to Indiana and you could tell the box has been opened prior to getting here and was a little beat up, I made the repairs to the computer and sent it back to her 4 days later.
UPS boxed it up with one of there boxes in the first place

The day she got it back the box was wet like it was sitting out in the rain for hours and one side of the box was destroyed and looked like it had boot prints on it.
The computer was wrapped in bubblewrap and the box was filled with the popcorn filler and when opened one side of the computer tower was crushed in.
Not to mention it was NOT left at the door it was left out in her front yard from the driver just 10 feet from the street, she went out side to yell at the driver and he just got backed in his truck like he did not hear her and floorboarded the truck.

Ok, I should say I will never use ups again.
I brought two boxes to the local UPS store, and the staff there told me he will send them together because they are going to the same address. Here is what happened. One of the boxes was lost in the shipment, after I found the staff, he said he used tape to bind them together and I am just one of those unlucky customers that get things lost. It worth 295 usd for that item and they will just reimburse 100+shipping, because I didn't ask for extra insurance, which I didn't know about and he definitely didn't ask whether we need that.
And even more, during our 6 minutes conversation about how to solve the problem, the staff there ask us to leave the store otherwise he will call the police. God...we are polite and didn't say anything bad, but he wants us out, that's how they treat their customers.
I thought we are the ones should call the police not them.

Best,

UPS are bums. I had an object insured for $6K and they refused to pay after it was delivered broken. It was double boxed. They hired a big time law firm but settled out of court for $1500.00. I will never ship UPS again!

[censor]s, this is the second package in a row they cant deliver, my problem? I have a business and have been doing business with them and ac...tually quite satisfied till this lazy [censor] driver decided that delivering to my business was to out of his way i sat outside my business for three and a half hours waiting for a ups guy to pass by, meanwhile i had my laptop periodically checking ups and finally around 8:35 this message pops up no longer will i do business with them, while telling more people to dump them as a carrier, fedex is prevailing i have ordered several parts and asked my shipper to use fedex and have recieved about ten packages on average three days faster for about two dollars less...[censor] ups,

The shipper should have, when making up the waybill, marked the package for no signature required.
The UPS driver should have left a door knocker card where you could have given instructions and a sig to leave the package at the neighbors etc.

I ordered some clothes for a Valentine's dance the 14th. My order was placed on the 28th of JANUARY because I figured, hey, why not let it come sooner?
Man, I was so wrong.
My shipment didn't leave until ONE WEEK later from New York. I live in Washington so I expected my package to come in in around 2 weeks tops, but no.. instead it's STILL in Pennsylvania THREE days later. I check in again 2 days later (February 10th) and now it's in Spokane, WA. So now I'm thinking, "Yes! It's only 3 hours away! Of course it'll come in by tomorrow!"
I was wrong, again.
Now UPS says there are "Adverse weather conditions." so my package will be delayed. It's a sunny day where I live so i check on google to see the "weather conditions" in Spokane. Just as I suspected, there are none.
My package says it will be delivered on the 12th, which is a Saturday.
Now wait a second, I didn't get the Saturday service package.
I check on the 12th to see if my some miracle my package will be delivered.
UPS NOW says "Scheduled delivery date: Februaury Tuesday 15th"
Excuse me?!
That's the day AFTER Valentine's day!
But how is it possible for my delivery to come on TUESDAY if
UPS doesn't take a day off on Valentine's Day?
It doesn't take 2 DAYS to deliver a package that's # HOURS away!
So don't ask me how that works.
I will NEVER use UPS again.
What a waste of my time.

Today UPS said my package was on a truck for delivery by( end of day). I waited till 8:00pm and went back to the tracking and now it was changed for delivery tomorrow. Typical UPS they are so un reliable I do not know why anybody uses them. This is not the first time they let me down. I never use UPS if I am the shipper as they have bad delivery service and and are impossible to contact. They advertise customer service but just try to get someone at customer service. Use any body but UPS and you will get better service from any body else even PONY EXPRESS.

i so hate ups. my sister mailed me some documents from LA using next day air and obviously paid a good price. I needed those papers for my husbands immigration interview. its been 5 days now n we still haven't received it. We are already done with our interview and that paper would be useless even if they ever manage to deliver it! We called them several times on the day we were promised to receive it and they blame it on the weather. Why don't u freaking blame it on ur useless lying company. i mean it shows online that its already in my area and yet its taking them forever. we even requested if we can pick up and they said no. i asked my sis to get a refund as i see no sign of it. probably they can't even locate it. they really have worst services and we should all avoid them as much as we can. I'm soo pissed :-(

Just got off the phone with the "investigations dept."...riiiiight! The most uncaring nonchalant woman that UPS could employee. She was not interested in my complaint only my phone number, and confessing that it would take 1-8 business days to uncover the mystery of why my package. It showed IN TRANSIT yesterday, and was stuck in that mode today. Of course no overnight delivery and its only been 5 days! Tried to explain if 9 packages leave with LeRoy on the van this morning and he delivers 8 a red flag should raise for not only LeRoy, but their scanning machine as well. BUT...8 out of 9 aint bad I guess? The Investigator only wanted my phone number. Had I not called them for the second straight day this item would just have never been missed. Problem is that this package that I was overnighting was a Valic check for $21, 689.00. So I cut this emotionaless android off and will have the check cancelled and delivered via USPS. I am sure that I will have a problem getting the $25 back that UPS charged for their fine OVERNIGHT service. Our corporation account will be discussed at the next formal meeting. Federal Express will likely receive the account. Rightly so...

I ship from USPS almost daily for the past 3 years. I had to ship from UPS for the first time last week...they ruined the item being shipped and denied my insurance claim blaming the damage on "improper packaging". Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me...no shame on me because I will simply never use UPS again.

I know it's not of much comfort, but often when starting a new job you won't receive your check for nearly a month. I have worked in retail both at the holidays and during the regular season, and it wasn't uncommon to wait for the next (second) pay cycle to come around before receiving a nice, healthy check. I wish you luck!

UPS training policies and their management's complete disregard for CUSTOMER SERVICE combined with employees who don't give a damn appears to be the problem with UPS.

A new UPS Driver in Champaign, Illinois has ruined my YEARS of previous excellent satisfaction with UPS services. The regular delivery person for my neighborhood is outstanding. But, the new driver, this week demonstrated a side of UPS that left me unsettled. The new driver rang the doorbell, and I immediately answered, I could see the UPS truck, but the driver had gone next door. I didn't see a package at my door and assumed that he rang my bell by mistake. As the driver is returning to his truck, he says that he threw the package in the bushes. I asked why he would do that, the driver asked if I'd rather have the package stolen. Tough call- package left at the door or thrown into the snow (in a cardboard box)? It's a no brainer. The driver confidently defends his training of placing items in the bushes and snow because the snow was not melting.
Watch the UPS driver defend his actions on YouTube: http://www.browncafe.com/forum/media.php?do=details&mid=137
A manager or supervisor (Sarah) from the Urbana, Illinois office somewhat defended this position stating that he should have placed the package in a plastic bag before putting into the snow and bushes.; search for "[censor]ic UPS Driver Leaves Package In Snow." I am highly disappointed that UPS allows this. Electronic items are NOT cheap and it's simply not right to place cardboard boxes containing electronics in the snow. Big Brown let me down, today.

We live about 2 miles from one of their hubs. They land at our airport which i regularly see pass our house and YET it takes them nearly 12 hours to deliver! I had monitored a package on their so called Tracking Information. It left their depot for delivery at 7:53 am and its now 6:30 pm and STILL no sign of the delivery guy. Excuses, Excuses. "Its Christmas so we're gonna be delayed". This happens no matter when it is. I just wish Amazon and other online companies gave you the CHOICE of courier.

Waited all day for a baby bed that we really needed and was garanteed with diapers.com to delivered within 2 days on friday. Friday night at 8.55 pm UPS calls and is asking for our street address even though diapers.com had it in order to finalize the payment. Aparently UPS tried to find us at 11 am but for some reason the driver was to stupid to call us or find out where it is. Why did they call at 9 pm? [censor]ed !
UPS tells me that we have to wait until monday for our baby bed. Well, I canceled the order of course.
Rediculous service by diapers.com and the [censor]s from UPS!

Here is a new twist from UPS. My daughter was on vacation and needed some files from her computer to fill an urgent request from a client. I sent it Next Day Air, with delivery before 10:30 AM the next morning. She did not receive it until 5:09 the next afternoon. When I called the UPS Store where I mailed it the clerk told me to come in with my receipt and they would refund my money. I went to the store and was told the delay was from an "add'l security check by gov't or other agency-beyond ups control." They would not refund my shipping. I called UPS customer service and got the same story. NO ONE could explain why it took 6 and a half hours to make a security check. I do not believe this to be true, but a very timely and convenient way for UPS not to take responsibility for an error in their delivery process. Look for the "security check" excuse in any of your late deliveries. I will be anxious to see how often this excuse is used. Never again for me...

My experience buying the Manduka Mat and Mat Sak was so painful that if I tell you all the problems you may not believe it happened. But, it did.

The package was to be delivered on Friday October 8 to my work address. I don’t work on Friday’s but I went to work especially to get my new mat. I kept checking the tracking and it said “package out for delivery.” At about 3:30pm I called UPS because our regular driver is usually there by mid afternoon. Also, I had noticed that the address of my shipment looked strange on the invoice from Online Fitness. For whatever reason someone had put the street number on the same line as the name of my company. The UPS representative said, “Oh, it’s OK. He’s a trained professional; he’ll be able to read what address it is supposed to go to. It will be delivered by 5pm.” At 4pm, the update on the package was “driver couldn’t read address, delivery rescheduled.”

I was livid. I phoned UPS and demanded my package be delivered to me. By now they mysteriously had the correct address as they did when I spoke to the first representative. They told me that the driver is at 144 Montague St. delivering packages if I wanted to run after him and get it. This address is a 15-minute fast walk from where I was but I said OK. I told her it would take me about 15 minutes and she said he would wait.
When I got to Montague St., I stood by the truck waiting for the driver to come back. My cell phone rings. “We’re sorry ma’am the package has never been with the driver. It is in our warehouse in Mayspeth.” I was dumbfounded. Why these people don’t know what they’re doing is beyond me. She said, “If you want to come get it, you can get here by 8pm.” I asked her if she was looking at the package. I also asked if it was TWO packages and she said “no, this is the only tracking number you gave me.” I tried to explain that on the system it showed two boxes with the order. She assured me no it was only one box.

So, since I live in NYC and don’t have a car, I took two trains, a bus, walked about a mile and waited in line for over 20 minutes but I got my package. As I was leaving the UPS warehouse and waiting for the bus that would take me to my two trains for the ride home (3 hours round trip) I decided to take the mat out of the box and put it in the mat sak for easier carrying. Oh, wait though--there is no mat sak!
I paid for the mat/mat sak package and only got a mat. I wrote the seller immediately. I have no more fight in me. It is the incompetence that is always shown with UPS and the bad luck of Online Fitness. The Online Fitness guy is always kind but that is starting not to mean anything to me.

I filed a claim with UPS because their computer system still says there were two packages! I also filed a claim with Amazon. I hope to get my mat sak next week once they figure it out. But, from now on I will order directly from Manduka (I’m a yoga teacher and will order a lot) and I will insist they send it ANY way but UPS.

Doing business with a company that uses UPS services? Big mistake! In Toronto they have 1 centre for the entire city (!) which is located outside the city limit but have hundreds of UPS stores. Of course they say they can't leave your package to one of the stores for you the pick it up. Why not?! Why is it possible with Canada Post but not UPS? They are [censor]s!

I am surprised to find out problems with UPS are normal. I can not begin to list all the problems we have with them. We shipped some art and was told UPS can only ship it if they provided the box. Same jiffy Box I had but cost 3x as much and instead of our logo it had UPS logo. I declined and was warned they will not insure it if we didn't buy the box from them. We sent hundreds of these so I though this was polite ignorance. The customer received the box with a footprint in the center of it. He refused shipment and it was sent back. Of course the UPS agent gave me the "I told you so" speech. I asked him what size shoe he wore but he refused to tell me.

I moved my office from a rented office complex to a residential area walking distance from our chamber of commerce. We are now 1 mile from the highway. I thought it was a smart move. The city recognizes us as a business. So does fed-ex and our internet providers (they charge more for same service because we are a business.) We have posted business hours on both entry doors. UPS only delivers 1.5 hours after closing time. Normally no one is here to receive the shipment. Corporate office claims this is not their policy. They apologize and say they will fix it. Regional office told me they don't care what corporate office says they WILL NOT deliver during our posted business hours. I asked why they answered because your office is in a house. Corporate seems nice and caring but they don't deliver packages. Our Driver is very good also. He told me he drives by us almost every morning but his supervisor will not allow him to stop until the end of his route.

We just paid USPS $5232 in postage, FED-EX $625.72, UPS last month got $0 from us. Many of my suppliers still use them which is my problem.

I do wish UPS would start to do their job better. I would hate them to disappear and leave no competition for FED-EX. But as for our business, if it needs tracking it will be sent Fed-Ex. If not USPS. Who would believe the post office is better than private business?

I had problems with UPS too and they are terrible as a company. They destroyed a lot of things in my packages and their excuses are that packages are not well packaging:

"PARA LA GUIA 1Z3X2F326709640655 donde su contenido era SNOWGLOBE LOTION BOTTLE/ CHOCOLATES, ROPA, la respuesta fue la siguiente:

When a damage occurs, UPS inspects the package and evaluates the packaging according to our packaging guidelines which include the Int'l Safe Transit Assoc. (ISTA) 3A Test Procedures for small parcel delivery shipments, published by the ISTA.

UPS is not liable or responsible for damage to any package from improper packaging.

We are not liable for damage resulting from the perishable nature of the commodity shipped.

Delivery Services, UPS poor service by UPS

I live in Virginia and work for a company in New York. I have to send packages consisting of billing invoices every few weeks. When I have an invoice ready to ship, I schedule a pick-up at my home, and usually send it 2-day air.

The Department that handles my invoices will be shutting down in a few days for vacation, so if my company wants to get paid, we need to have our invoices in ASAP. Knowing this, I scheduled a Saturday pick-up and chose one-day air service so that the package would be delivered today, Monday.

By 10PM Saturday, the package was still sitting there, never picked up. As customer service was closed by then, I had to wait until 7AM this morning to call. When I did, I was told by a very apologetic gentleman that he had put out an emergency call stating that the package MUST be picked up by 10AM. He assured me that the package would arrive in NY by end of business today. I asked him if there was a confirmation number, in case there was still a problem, so that I would have recourse to prove that I had been told it would be delivered today. He told me no, that it was UPS's mistake, and that he was gauranteeing it would be there today, because they HAD to do it.

The package was picked up by 10AM, as promised. However, when I tried to track it in the system, I could not, because it had not been scanned in yet. I called customer service again to make sure that it would be there by this afternoon. The woman I spoke to told me she could not help because the package had not been scanned in, so there was no way for her to track it, either. But she assured me THREE times that since it was picked up on Saturday for one day delivery, it would arrive today. And I explained to HER three times that no, the package had NOT been picked up on Saturday, that was the whole problem. Finally, I gave up on her, as she was useless, and went back to checking the tracking number periodically.

As of 5:30PM, my boss informed me that the package had not been delivered, and there was still no tracking info, because the package had not been scanned in. I called customer service a third time.

The woman that I spoke with told me that there was no way the package would have gotten there today unless an express emergency courier was used, and since I was not transferred to that department by the initial man I spoke to this morning, one obviously had not been used, and thus my package was most likely still sitting in my UPS processing center, not in NY.

When I told her that the man I had spoken to guaranteed my package by the end of the day, she said that was impossible, as the express courier was not contacted. All she saw noted in my file was that I had been promised the package would be PICKED UP today, not delivered. I told her that obviously they needed to go over their delivery policies with their customer service staff, as I had been guaranteed same-day delivery. She replied that all customer service operators are well aware of their policies. And I told her that that was obviously not the case, or I would not have been given my worthless guarantee.

After going back and forth a few more times, I finally told her that I expected a refund at the very least, seeing as now my company will be without a much-needed $45, 000 for a month. She told me that that was impossible.

That was when I hung up. So, after UPS's failure to pick up my package as scheduled, false promises to deliver my package in one day, being given the run-around by three customer service agents and neither they not I knowing where my package was for the better part of the day, I can't even get my company a refund for the $63 delivery and pick-up charges. Talk about the final indignity. And that's not even counting my having to deal with a less-than-pleased boss and having to explain to him why he's out $45, 000 for the foreseeable future.

My company uses UPS because we don't have many other options. But this experience has completely soured me on this company. One screw-up I can forgive. But forgetting my package, lying to me, making excuses, not getting it where it needed to be on time, and then not even having the decency to offer a refund are inexcusible in my book.

UPS, you need to re-train your employees as to how to offer actual customer service, as well as to go over your policies and rules, so that agents are not giving out false information. Or you could just pick up your packages in the first place. But obviously that's expecting too much from a company that derives its livelihood from delivering packages.

I needed an original birth certificate for ID to get driver's license in another state. The order was pricessed within a day online and shipped overnight (which I had to pay another $17.50 in addition to shipping charges for one page document in an envelope.
Usually FedEx brings any documents to my apartment directly...Unfortunately the company I ordered my birth certificate through used UPS or better known as Useless Personal Service..
My overnight mail was not delivered to me but rather dropped off with a bunch of boxes to the main office of the apartment complex. So there my overnight mail sat for three daysss... I had NO knowledge of it being there- I am furious with UPS for not providing the overnight delivery service to ME! No more UPSSSSSS

I made a purchase online from an individual. I paid for the purchase and shipping from TX to OK. When it arrived the item had been dropped denting it in several places. I went online and filed a claim. I received a call from UPS to package it back up for a carrier to pickup for inspection. UPS picked it up claiming no liability and returned it to TX. After numerous calls and letters, I was told repeatedly it was procedure. I felt like they basically stole this item from me, they were only suppose to examine the damage. However, they sent it back to TX and refused to send it back to me. Thank goodness the individual I bought it from was willing to return it to me. UPS required me to pay for shipping it back to me again. Upon opening the box it has once again been dropped and damaged further. I will never ship with UPS again and warn anyone who files a claim be prepared to loose your item!

NO MORE UPS for me!

Wow, just wow. Hey there junior, sorry you didn't get your iPod from Apple on time...

First off I'm sorry you are buying anything from Apple, secondly do you seriously think you should be buying one that is being shipped from overseas? If you have a tracking number and some more details to your complaint I could believe it but for now you are farting on deaf ears. Next time buy in the United States and you won't have to worry about messing up lines like "Who cares if they dominate the world, they do know how to scroll down a box, and this ridicules your international customers."

To the CEO of UPS. Before you post an opinion editorial in the Wall Street Journal about how high your capital gain taxes are going to be(20% is cheap especially when you didn"t have to pay anything upfront) I suggest you train your drivers not to block the main entrance to our business or the drive thru for our restaurant on a busy Friday at 1:00. When there are two entrances to a business the secondary less used entrance should be mandatory unless it is in the rear of the building, security issure, etc. I know, your're time is more important than ours when serving customers.

I was a UPS customer in England until very recently. Right from the start I found their representative ill trained and unprofessional, I complained but to no avail. As the year we were with them progressed they kept moving the goal posts and slipping in additional charges, the invoices were the most complicated we had ever seen and drove our accountant mad. When we had invoices in disputes they refused to honor the direct debit agreement and took the money from our bank anyway. We have been in business for 30 years and have never before experienced such abysmal customer service, which seemed to go right through every department of the company. The problem is with UPS they think they are a lot better than they are and so don't even try to improve. We are so glad to see the back of them they cost us such a lot of money.

I HATE UPS, and will NEVER use their service again!
They never let me know up-front that they require a buzzer number for apartment building in order to deliver packages door-to-door. AFTER I've requested to ship & paid for the full door-to-door service fee. They call and tell me that I don't have a buzzer #, so they won't deliver it to the door. Asked me to go pick up at their warehouse which is completely out of town centre (approx an hour drive from downtown Vancouver).

I asked if I can get it deliver to a near by UPS store, they told me to find out the store locations myself (they said they don't know where these stores are), and then I would need to pay EXTRA money!

I swear I will never ever use their service again, and don't recommend UPS to anyone.

Thanks for sharing. This company is extorting Canadians.

My friend in the USA payed $35 for USP Ground service to ship a box to us in Canada. When the package arrived my wife has handed a bill of $49.56 for "import charges".

This same box to the him cost us $8 with Canada Post. These "import charges" or "brokerage fees" should be told to the sender so he can learn how grossly overpriced the service is.

I'm glad we live in the Information Age with the BBB and social media to raise awareness of hidden fees that are larger then those given at the time of sending.

Make a good day,
Jason

I get nervous whenever i have a package shipped via UPS. One time I was expecting a guitar to be delivered to my house but somehow it found its way to being delivered to a bank just a few blocks from my house. Keep in mind this is before the Christmas holidays. After finding out where the package went. I attempted to call the bank's mail room dept who didn't have a recollection of any package delivered. After numerous irate calls to ups, i was finally reimbursed for my payment of my guitar. Also keep in mind, this is one of many botched delivery encounters i had with Ups. This is just one of the most Unusual encounters i ever had with them. I have a great respect for the US Postal system than any corporate based delivery service on the planet. I have never had a bad experience with USPO which i would rate top notch. I REALLY HATE UPS BIGTIME!

I had one experience this morning with UPS that I thought was rather rude. I had almost called to complain about it. A UPS driver had delivered an important Overnight Package and instead of walking up to me with it - he surprised me with an underhand throw! Then, with a disgruntled look he said "thank you". I mean WTF! The experience had put me in shock! I figured the guy hadn't been happy, must have been having a pretty bad day to pull a stunt like that with a customer.
