When I orginally enrolled in uop in march 2015, I was told that my financial aid would be ready for disbursement about 30-60 days after my start date. Which seemed like no big deal to me at the time. I completed my fafsa applications for 2015/2016 and 2016/2017 all at once, as I was asked to by my fa, I uploaded every document asked for, and jumped through all their hoops, 30 days later though, i'm told I need to make a minor correction to my application, otherwise it would not be processed, so I made the correction and was told everything was perfect and I could continue my classes until everything processed fully, another 30 days went by, and my fafsa was still not approved, but my financial advisor told me, yet again, that I was cleared for classes and I could continue going, in june 2016 though I was forced to take a leave of absence, but when it was over I could continue my classes, well 7 thousand dollars in classes later, I ended up failing one class and was put on academic disqualification, even though technically I never actually received any funding from the government, no loans, no grants, nothing. I was told that if I wanted to be able to take classes again, I had to wait 6 months, and pay them the 7k directly. In the time frame of march 2016 until october 2016, I was allowed to rack up this bill, because my advisor assured me, on more than one occassion, that my fafsa would clear and cover it all, but could never tell me why it hadn't cleared, and always told me he had a "help desk ticket" opened on the issue (Which I still don't even know what that means). Now in march of 2017, after calling the fafsa offices etc, I find out that my fafsa had never been given to the school, and that I definitely never received any funding whatsoever.

I have been fighting with the university of phoenix for almost 3 months now. i attended for one week and withdrew before the 2nd week began. they are truly out to get money! the are a "for-profit" business and $'s are their bottom line. they lied on my fafsa when they made a "correction" based on my professional judgement i submitted by changing my 2015 irs tax information, which i used the irs tool on the fafsa application to import that data. they changed my income and refund to $0 ! now that i'm trying to attend a different college, the new college can't touch my loans or grants because the uofpee still has a "hold" on the 2nd term (starting april of next year) and are 3 weeks late (according to the law, which gives them 45 days after the date of withdrawal from their "company"). they don't care. they feel they are above the law.

My lender, cornerstone (mycornerstoneloan.org), has requested that i complete a "falsification of information" on the uofpee -- which i will do along with filing a complaint with the u.s. department of education.

Will everyone please post the above url on any/every site you can find to assist people in accessing the "untouchable/unreachable" people at uofpee's financial aid department. these names and numbers are never offered or given out by the reps you call and speak with -- i was finally able to get them when my case got escalated to the department of disputes at uofpee ... please share the website listed above and have everyone you know post it! so many people need these contacts in order to get their problems resolved!

I may have to consider a lawyer because of what was done to me over the course of months. The administration of this school gave me half-truths and purposely kept out information - it seems - because for some reason because of a technicality I knew NOTHING about, I don't get my refund ...at all. Thanks a lot. The reason I had to do a leave of absence is because of your administration and I still end up being punished for not knowing...again.

I was going to class. Doing all of the work and passing. I logged on the 8th to see if the classes were there to log in. And thought that was enough because of my track record of when I do log in and participate is around Wednesday. Janalee Gumm told me that classes started back on the 8th and if I would have internet then. She didn't tell me to put on my leave of absence the day that I'd actually log in to do classwork. She didn't tell me in order to get my refund back I have to log in AND participate in class on the 8th. She's the reason why I had to do the leave of absence in the first place because she decided to wait until I called the school to tell me that I needed "tax transcripts" because my W2's wasn't enough which wasn't made clear to me either until that very same phone call. I had timed my refund with my internet bill so I'd be able to pay it to stay in school. Which lead to the leave of absence in the first place. I still have all the emails.

I'm getting punished on a technicality that I did not know about.

And all of THAT happened AFTER I had already called and asked if there was anything else they needed. Rodney Harris on numerous occasions told me everything was alright. He's the reason why my name is still Asilee McLain even though I sent him my change of name forms and divorce decree. I still have that email, too.

I was advised that my tuition was going up 300 per class, I don't have a problem with that, but it went from [protected] and I was told that the reason it did, was because I asked for my Associates diploma to be mailed to me back in May, in which I haven't received at all, but this is unheard of and also a rip off. I feel as though I have no recourse of action. I am forced to finish my classes online because unless I am willing to change my major to Business, then the University of Phoenix doesn't specialize in Accounting/Finance. This is a college, so why wasn't I told this in the beginning? Why am I left with only 6 classes and begin screwed over, and my financial advisor KRISTEN GOODRICH says her hands are tied and there is nothing more she can do for me. WOW. So asking for something that I have worked hard to achieve voids a tuition freeze and I am left to suffer. I have to know figure out if I will drop out of school, or continue in a program in which I am very unhappy about. The University has shown me that they are not people of integrity, morals or values and they don't care about the student in in manner

On 3/23/16 my loan was dispersed to the University. I owned no funds for my courses because they were paid in full with my initial disbursement received on 10/31/15. So the new disbursement was to be send to me as I was at a $0.00 balance. I've finished 3 of my required courses along with an additional 1 week course that they never told me about when I registered. But non the less I did it because I need my CTEL. I received a notice that my load was dispersed to Phoenix from the loan company. I never heard anything from Phoenix. I called them on 3/25/16 because the information was not listed on my account (technical issue). I was told from my financial adviser that the funds would most likely be distributed in one week. Well it's been 18 days and no one knows what happening and I can't get a straight answer or a returned phone call. I have one class yet hopefully I can get my money before it begins next week. But next week I will be sending all of the issues that I have been keeping track of to the Arizona's Attorney Generals Office. The Financial Advisers guidelines and the Financial Aid Office needs some immediate modification.

I feel heartfelt regret to read all of the unfortunate outcomes on the predations of PSU "staff" on people looking to better themselves. I myself was eyeing the site and thinking to myself this sounds too good to be true for the price, all the memberships, and apparent sheer amount of certification I can attain for my fledgling professional career. I did not spend any money because of that and the site looked rather sorry and hastily put together to just look like it had all the answers without any professional touches to its design. Also the name Phoenix State University is an attempt at corrupting the acclaimed University of Phoenix's title. I also noticed when I input: "how to become a gunsmith" into Cortana; my Windows 10 "digital assistant", PSU was the very first result. Odd. Good luck to all of you out there.

On 10/20/15 I had recently told my financial aid advisor that I wanted to withdraw from the school since the website was always done and other reasons. Now on 10/23/15 I had received my withdrawal process via email that I didn't complete a few days later since I had company here. Well today I find out that I was sent to collections. Mind you I have yet to even see a bill from the school.Nothing has been sent by email, mail, or phone. The school has sent me to collections in less than 30 days and I don't even know what for or let alone the amount. The collection lady even agreed that she was shocked. I have never attended a school that sent you to collections without sending you a bill this is the first for me!

Ever since I have started the UoP I have had difficulties with my student financial obligations. First I was not given enough time to fix the issues and was repeatedly pulled from my classes three weeks in, surprisingly always right at the mark when you begin to have to pay for the whole class, yet I was never notified that my financial aid wasn't cleared. For over a year I have battled with numerous other problems as well. Such as being dropped from a class and it taking a week for someone to even know why. Currently I am trying to file for ANY financial support to get BACK into classes for the 8th time now. My adviser literally told me he did not know how I could get anything. He gave me no information at all. I have previously received Parent Plus assistance but would now like to get assistance in my own name. Everyone else I know is able to do this, but for some reason my financial aid adviser doesn't know how I can do this? I honestly believe UoP is scamming it's students to get as much money as possible. I have been forced to drop classes multiple times with no warnings which has put me back almost 5 months. I am disgusted in the university and would recommend it to no one.

I have attended since 2012. Received my Associate's Degree in March 2015 in Human Resources. Started attending classes in May 2015 for my Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources. Have had NOTHING BUT TROUBLE from the Financial Aid Department. They received funds in June from Pell Grant that was $2100. Paid for my June class. It sat on my account for 2 months as paid. On AUgust 3, 2015 the finance department sent those funds back to lender. Left me owing for June. Now mind you the new finance year began on July 28, 2015. Those funds drew interest in their bank for 2 months before being sent back.. I received funds again on August 31st although it didn't register on my account. I talked to a finance advisor on September 3, 2015 who advised me I could take over responsibility for my own funding by sending a signed statement to the accounting department which I did. $9388. in all was received by the school. I talked to 3 different finance advisors who stated that those funds would be in my account which I could pay the June class off. Now on the 21st I am told not only am I not receiving any funds but that only $200 could be used to pay June's class since it was a prior year. I am told that I signed the statement after funds were sent out so I cannot qualify until March 2016 to take over handling my funds. Now my funds sit in their bank gathering interest daily while I am withdrawn from the school and now they tell me I owe them money. NOT LIKELY!

I was admitted to the of University of Phoenix Bachelor of Science in Human Services, August 27, 2014.. As my Classes progressed, the school requested me to take a test on a course which I had already taken and had "B" grade at Houston Community College; saying that it was one of the requirement for admission into the University.
The school intentionally placed me an "F" grade in the test in order to make me re-take the course with the school.
The school placed on my Transcript "F" grade on the course I did not study with the school, thereby making it difficult for me to secure admission into another school.
All my efforts for the University to correct this wicked act proved abortive.

I have been waiting for weeks now on my student loan disbursement from UoP. The first week they said it was under review, the second week they said I was over-disbursed on the first loan payment, now they are ignoring my calls and emails. these are my student loans and the funds should be released to me immediately. does anyone have a phone number to someone in the financial aid office that has a brain and actually cares about the students? I know this is probably an unrealistic expectation from this school but its worth a shot.

I have had a plethora of problems with the University of Phoenix since enrolling in 2012. More recently, I have been awarded 6K in loans/grants, which is more than enough to cover the cost of my last classes. Each class totals $1, 856.41 x 2 = $3, 712.82. I have noticed that the account will have a zero balance, after the funds have been released to the university. The following week or days after, the account will show a balance. Why does the university persist in manipulating funds? My account shows a balance of nearly $800.00, although I have received more than enough loans to cover the cost of the 2 classes. I received the disbursement notifications on November 15 & 17; yet on 12/08/14, my account shows that $800 balance. I have asked for reasoning from my financial aid advisor and had to wait nearly a week to get a response. (She said my school email address, @phoenix.edu, was not a valid email?) This university has shady, if not illegal, practices in their financial aid department. What are they doing with the other money that I was awarded (via loans & grants)? I will have to pay back the loans. What right do they have to withhold money? Isn't that illegal?

I had noticed that my grade had changed on the site, I asked the instructor she said that she had not been on the site, and I asked my academic instructor she did not know, and was unconcerned about the issue that I was having someone had changed my grades. So waiting until the last minute for my grade to post, I had grades of 2 points coming from week 3, week 5, so when she decided to grade my work she graded the final exam first which gave me a total of 67 points, not sure how many points she gave me for anything else since I was locked out and have to sit out for 6 months before I can finish my classes, it is something fishy going on no one would talk to me about the issues at hand. How do I know what points I was given if I can't see my score, I am locked out.

For the past 2 years I have been attending the University of Phoenix. Many of my ground classes have been 4-5 students. I received a call last week that me and my 3 other team members are being forced to go online and that we are required to pay the higher tuition for online classes. After speaking with many other students this happens a lot. None of us want to go online! We were told that we needed 6 people to stay on ground so that our educational experience would be better. 6 people still only makes 1 learning team. So we are still getting the same educational experience. My question that they will not answer is so for the many classes that I have taken with only 4-5 students I wasn't getting a good educational experience, but yet I still paid 1595 per 5 weeks to this University. I asked my chair person if it was financial and he said no but when speaking with my financial advisor she said that Phoenix is a for profit school and they wont do anything unless they make money. I use the GI Bill and I get housing allowance that my family depends on. I know lose 1100 a month in housing and have to pay an additional 300 per course to go online. Why cant we continue going ground and continuing the same educational experience we have received for the past 2 years. All they care about it $$$$$.

I've recently seen multiple articles in print detailing thee problems and lawsuits surrounding The Apollo Group and, more specifically, The University of Phoenix. I was recently employed by thee University of Phoenix and theen abruptly let go - for no apparent reason otheer theen theat I decided to take advantage of theeir "free" school for employees. The company has had numerous complaints from students concerning gross miss-conduct - but I believe it is in thee public's best interest to know theat theis company doesn't only mistreat theeir students - but theeir employees as well.

I started working for The University of Phoenix on May 15the, 2010 as an outbound contact specialist. The one and only reason I took theis job was for theeir benefits which covered thee cost of classes for employees. I wanted to finish my education. The recruiting team as well as thee training team (which lasted for 3 full weeks) were also very adamit and excited about getting employees to enrol in class as soon as theeir first day of hire. This, however, is not how theings aired out once training is over and you begin your full time regular schedule.

After just 4 weeks from completing training i was pulled into meet withe my manager, Jessica Beslacheck. At theis point i realised theat theis job, even theough thee trainers stressed likewise, was a sales/numbers position. She would say, and quote, "Focus on your customer service to bring your numbers up." My numbers, however, were at a meets-high - - which implied even more how much of a sales position theis really was - and all witheout any type of commission at all - strictly hourly. Then my manager, Jessica Beslacheck, asked me why I even took theis position and theat I was over qualified for thee work. I told her simply theat I wanted to get back into school. Now during my first monthe theere i repeatedly attempted to enroll in classes but was simply put on hold withe employee services and never contacted back.

Finally, on thee Friday before I was let go, which was July 30, 2010, I was finally contacted by an employee enrollment counselor and enrolled at thee University of Phoenix. Seems funny theat it took so long to get back to me as thee entire enrollment process took about 45 minutes. The very next work day, Monday, August 2, 2010 I was let go. They would not give me a reason - just theat I simply wasn't getting enough transfers - despite still being at a meets expectations-high. Coincidence theat I was let go thee day after I enroll? I theink not. This same exact theing happened twp weeks later to anotheer employee who hired on thee same day as I was. He ask theat I not mention his name but his story was thee same - he enrolled in school on a Friday and was let go on thee next Monday. Again - for no reason. After digging deeper and talking to otheer former employees I found theat theis is a very common story. Withein just a week i learned of theree more instances where thee same theing happened.

So why haven't theese stories of misconduct come out? The answer is in thee attachment I'm sending withe theis e-mail. Upon firing someone thee University of Phoenix offers $1, 000 to basically ensure theat former employee keep theeir mouthe shut. After reading theis contract I was appalled. This is simply a buy out. How corrupt must theis company be theat theey are willing to give every employee theey let go (which is a significant sum considering thee company has one thee worst turn over rates in thee nation) a specific dollar amount to not say anytheing!?!

This company is not an educational institution! This is a business for profit company theat does not care about theeir students, faculty, or employees. To prove theis even furtheer I was contacted a week after being let go by someone in my old department - asking if I was interested in learning more about thee University and attempting to qualify me. Since I never signed up for any such call - theis proves theat as soon as theey let me go theey immediately entered my information into theeir lead box. I was shocked - and continue to be.

I hope to have my story shared withe as many people as possible, but especially withe individuals who may be theinking about eitheer enrolling or looking for employment at The University of Phoenix. I hope theey take heed to theis warning - theis is not a company you want to associate withe on ANY level.

I enrolled at University of Phoenix from [protected]. My main source of payment was going to be my GI bill. Unfortunatly the person I had spoken to never put in the paperwork, and had instead put me down for Financial Aid. He said that I would quallify for that season. Instead of financial aid, I was given a loan. Which I don't recall ever signing up for. I recieved two checks at the end of my semesters, and I believed it was the remainder of my financial aid. Unfortunatly now that I checked my credit report I found out that it was a loan. I tried to call the financial department of University of Phoenix to find out what happend, and the young lady that answered my call was not helpful at all. She informed me that I had signed for the loan. I requested a copy of the sheet, and she refused to produce the copy. Her response was: "You should have kept a copy for your records, I'm not going to send you one."
I tried to explain to her that I don't recall signing anything, which is why I was trying to request the form. I could see that her agitation was increasing, so I requested her supervisor. I left the supervisor a message today at 1:30p 5/30/13. My main frustration is that I was signed up for a loan without my approval, and the only reason I had enrolled in this University was because they accepted my GI Bill. I joined the military to not only serve my country, but to be able to go to college without student loans. This is just a huge slap in the face to me and my family.

I am currently a third year student at UoP. I am $31, 000 in debt. I recently (March, 2013) had to drop a class due to an unexpected health issue but instead of sending leave of absence forms, my academic adviser just put me in the next available class. Needless to say, I could not attended weeks one or two of this forced class. I have now, done more research on the history of UoP and I also believe they have misappropriated my federal funding to improve their bottom-line profit. This accusation alone should be a concern to someone at the Department of Education but I do not know whom I should contact. I have not officially withdrawn from this fraudulent for-profit school but I have currently been blocked from accessing my payment history information. I am very concerned I will become just another statistic and my current FASFA eligibility may be used or returned by them, which will leave a balanced owed on my account. I need help.! I am determined to finish my BS of Business, concentrating in sustainable enterprise management, but it will not be at UoP. Ryan Cook told me and Diana via a phone call at the Michigan works office that University of Phoenix would not have an issue with participating with the Unemployed program that I am enrolled in so that my education would be paid for with the monies provided by the state of Michigan. He also mentioned that it would only take a few weeks to complete. As you can see the above e-emails Ryan did not return any phone calls. He used the excuse that the University of Phoenix needed to hire someone in the Grand Rapids, Michigan office to assist us. Now that after a very lengthily conversation with Jeff Weitz, he said that it would not be completed. I made it VERY CLEAR to Ryan that I did not want to take out a loan for my education due to the fact I do not have a job. Now I am settled with a loan I do not want to his mis leading myself along with the Michigan Works program in the State of Michigan. I just wonder how many other people he has mis led. He still has a job and going to school for free and now I am going to have to pay a load I did not want. Now I am on the collections side of over 8, 000.00 in collections for RYAN COOK FRAUD AND THE UNIVERSITY OF PHOENIX

A. They lied about all my classes being in Lenexa but one. B. They lied and change my class day from Thursday to Monday. C. They lied about tutors being available at all times in Lenexa. They told me I had to see a tutor the day of class which I had to work that night. D. After my car wreck was total and had no car for a period of time. They called and woke me up up harassing me to come back to school. I told them I don't feel well enough and I had no car. I had to change my phone number. I never cash the last check. Only attend one or two day of that class. The rest was paid for by me and the government. And they are garnishing my wages without even notifying me for $39, 000. I found out two week and a half week before they push it through. I call the number several times and no answer. Only a few times I got an answering machine. I mail a certified letter to them and still no response.

In 2007, I contacted a University of Phoenix representative online to get information about grants available to single parents wanting to return to school. I was asked a few questions and then told I would easily qualify for government grants that not only paid for my tuition and supplies (online textbooks etc) but would also send me money to help cover household expenses so that I could attend school. Obviously it sounded great to me and next thing I knew I was enrolled in classes. I started receiving checks every three months and was told that this was the amount left of the grant AFTER the cost of tuition and school expenses was deducted by the school. After a couple semesters I started realizing the classes were a joke and I had a 4.0 even submitting work my 5th grader could do. No matter how bad my work was I still got "A"s on everything. I talked to a lot of people including faculty at REAL universities in FL and realized that it was a scam school. I dropped all my classes and started getting calls every day from telemarketers trying to get me to come back. I told them NO and eventually changed my phone number. Next thing I know I get paperwork saying I have defaulted on a FEDERAL student loan and that my tax returns will be taken. I called the collection agencies that have been involved and tried to explain the situation but they say they have my authorization on the loans. I have asked for documentation and received nothing. Now I am told I owe over $10, 000 for less than one year of school and there's nothing I can do about it. Too bad for them I am a stay at home mom still so no tax return for them to take. I have been told by the collection people that when I die my children will be responsible for the debt. I wish I knew if that was true or what else I can do to fight this. Seems like there is no where to turn at this point.
