Universal Fun Pass Phone Scam

December 27, 2008 I got a call saying 'won' a FREE trip to Orlando Florida for 3 days and 2 nights from "Molly (5108)". Then proceeded to say that I also won another trip to Daytona Florida for 3 days and nights as well. She then asks me if this sounds good I quickly respond and then she says I won another trip to Cancun Mexico for 5 days and 4 nights.

She was a very fast talker and didn't let me think about anything that was being said! It was quite overwhelming and she kept saying how excited I must be to win this free trip!

Then says that I have to pay a registration fee for each adult of $249. And then asks for my visa expiration date. She said she had my visa there on file and all I needed to do to confirm this vacation was to give her the expiration number and it was all mine. I asked how she had my visa number and she replied that they were partners with the visa company. I asked her why I have to give her a credit card # if the trip was free? She just said it was a registration fee and began to tell me over again what all the 3 vacations were and what was involved. She says 'don't you want to go away'. I ended up giving her my expiration number. During this conversation I keep asking her if it was going to be charged on my Visa and she kept saying don't worry about it it won't get charged if you don't have enough money on your visa and I kept saying its not going on my visa and she kept saying not to worry it wouldn't be a problem.

At this point I confirmed my visa # and continued to be told about the trip details. At which point I began to have second doubts about the "free trip" and said I was no longer interested and please do not charge anything on my visa, she called me a liar for claiming that I did not understand that the charges were going directly on my visa and that the charge had already been made and it was non refundable...I started to freak on the phone and told her I would be disputing this immediately with my visa company again she kept calling me a liar and that the ticket was non refundable. I ended up calling my visa and did a conference call with both parties on the phone the whole time the representative from Universal fun pass kept calling me a lier and over talking anything I said.

At this point they are no longer answering my calls and the complaint is being processed with my visa company. What a nightmare this whole experience has been, it completely wrecked my holidays. I hope that this email can help to prevent the same occurrence from happening to other people. Also below is a list of sites that i have found complaints regarding the same company and similar scam!

I purchase a package of Hotel accommodations on Dec.31/08. I spoke to a repersentive in June 2009 to make reservations but was told I could only make 90 days in advance . I tried phoning today but the number now is Universal Adventure with a recording to leave my name and phone number and confirmation # and so far they have not returned my call. I am wondering if this is a scam?

Don’t be such a jerk miss 'enjoying life'. People have the right to say they got scammed... I did agree to this chit and went along with it... but when it was time to book the trip, it took more than a month to get confirmation to a hotel that was less then they offered in the first place. Leaving from Montreal Quebec with my whole family without knowing the date we are leaving, planning the plane tickets or when to take off from work to go to Cancun Mexico... is not something you do in 24 hours. I tried calling many times to get more info, they kept telling me the travel agent would call me back and never did. In the end, they started being rude to me and not at all enthusiastic and nice as the first time they called me. I did a full report on the conversations I had with them and how they spoke to me and how rude they were even after showing my worries that I was being scammed by them because they wouldn’t give me proper responses. I sent my full 'report' to my MasterCard Company, and even though Universal Fun Pass idiots told me I would never get a refund... MasterCard DID refund me, in full ! So up yours Universal Fun Pass :D :D :D

And to you miss 'enjoying life' you are an idiot for exchanging your Daytona and Mexico trip for Canada: I live in Canada and choosing between here OR blue water-beach-sand-sun, I take the blue water-beach-sand-sun anytime! So... I guess sucks to be YOU when you come here!

lol i got the same call and agreed to it $249 for a family vacation count me in. We just came home from the orlando florida hotel and it was amazing. in total we paid $249 us funds. We got 3 nights in a 2 bedroom condo with tons of ammenities for my family of 5. plus we got 4 tickets to go to universal studious for 2 days for free. we still have the 2 nights in daytona and the 5 nights in mexico, which we have exchanged for 7 nights in canada. I also have SEVERAL friends who got in on this and have got great vacation stories from it. Really if you are dumb enough to give any part of your credit card number to ANYONE without full details, that is your own fault. suck it up stop whinning and go enjoy what you got "scamed" into doing.

These people are calling me every day at different hours. They are also calling my wife. I was excited we "won" a trip, and yes, they talked VERY fast. She went thruough the details(read:FAST), and I heard something about a charge of $249. per adult going on the trip. As we were waiting to speak with the shipping dept., she was asking me stupid questions like"How cold does it get in Canada?", "Have you been to Niagra Falls?" stuff like that. Then shipping came on(it sounded like she passed the phone to this other person) and the first thing she said was that they have my visa on file...I said"I only have a Master Card", to which she replied..."Oh yes, I see that now, the first four digits being ****?" I said yes, and then she asked for the exp, and the 3 numbers on the back of the card. As we were talking about the card, I googled Universal studios Scam. Voila. " No thank-you, I am not interested", she then rambled on about how if they were to commit fraud that their license would be revoked, blah blah blah, and then asked for the 3 digits again. I said no. After several circulations of this procedure, I grew tired of hearing her, and I interrupted her and said" I DON"T WANT THIS TRIP, I HAVE NOT AGREED TO ANYTHING, GIVE THIS TRIP TO SOMEONE ELSE". She hung up.
The next day I seemed to be within that same 3% of the people who applied(I didn't ever apply) who won. AGAIN. Blah blahblah, NO THANKS! The next day...and so on. It doesn't end with these people. I am not stupid. Thanks for submitting your posts. BEWARE UNIVERSAL FUN PASS!

We received the identical hard sell pitch from "Ryan" (operator #3597) who sounded like a scientologist on amphetamines. I happened to be in front of my computer and as is my too-good-too-be-true standard policy, typed in the data plus the word "scam." In this case I googled Universal+vacation+scam and bingo! I came to this site.

I stopped the pitch right then and rthere and accused this dud of beinbg a boiler room scam operation, but he just kept going on and on, till I physically had to yank the phone line out of thwe jack.

Thanks everyone.

Oh my god i am so sorry to hear all these complaints, and also glad i am not the only one to be scammed. We tried to get the charges reversed on our visa and they played back a taped conversation...What they failed to play was the beginning of the conversation that states that we do not agree to any charges on our visa. We thought it was to secure reservations "IF" we decided to accept the offer after reading the contract. WRONG, we then found out that the charges had already gone through even after my husband canceled the card after hanging up the phone, because "SOMETHING" did not quite feel right. We will pursue this through Canada's BBB and USA BBB, police, phone busters and anyone else i can think of...YOUR not alone!

Universal Fun Pass Fraud and cheating

On January 7 2009 i was contacted by phone from this company saying that i have won a free trip to flordia plus tons of bonuses! they were very fast talking and had all my information already.

Next thing i knew i was talking to someone else and they were asking for my credit card number so they could authorize to see if i was able to pay the registration fee! after that all i know is that i was given a confirmation number and they processed and charged my card with out me telling them too! when i tried to tell them no that i did not want the package they said it was too late!

Beware! they will talk you into it and never really let you know what they are doing! i feel extremely used and stupid for falling for it and want to make sure that this doesn't happen to any one else.

i am working with my credit card company to see if i can get this resolved... however i am getting the run around there too!

On the 10th of January 2009 at approximately 7:30 pm GMT I received a telephone call from a woman claiming to be called Varsy working for Universal Fun Pass. I was particularly tired from a very stressful day at work and was thrilled to hear that I had 'won' a holiday to Florida.

Varsy told me at great speed that I had won a free holiday to Orlando for 5 days and 4 nights with two passes for Universal Studios but also that I would be going to Daytona Beach for 5 days and 4 nights with a casino cruise thrown in.

All the time she kept asking if I was excited and thrilled to be the proud winner fo this holiday. Of course I was. I haven't been on holiday since 2006! Plus she told me we would also be going to the Bahamas for 4 days and 3 nights! Again the questions of are you excited etc etc. Then she practically shouts that I can take two other people free of charge.

These people are very skilled in bamboozling you, convincing you that every word they say is true. I was so thrilled to have won a 'free' holiday that I found myself agreeing to hand over my Visa details. I had no clue what was happening as I was completely drawn in by Varsy, her rapid speech and thoroughly convincing tone.

I ended up paying $398 because my visa debit card would not authorize anymore, if it had I would have lost $798 Varsy had said that I could pay the rest in $50 installments. I was confused at this point because I was still under the impression this was a free holiday and I was incredibly tired which allowed me to be completely thrown by her skill.

The next day I realized what had happened to me and I called back to ask for a refund as the money had been obtained through fraudulent means. I was told in no uncertain terms that I had agreed to a non refundable payment. Why I asked was I paying for a free holiday?

The woman, Tanya, called my bank and we both spoke to the customer services helpline. She insisted that I had agreed to a nonrefundable sum and my bank refused to speak when she was on the phone. She put the phone down cutting us all off. I spoke again to my bank who said that because I had willingly given over my details despite feeling that they had been fraudulently acquired, refused to demand the money back from Universal Fun Pass.

I feel completely violated and will never trust another internet holiday site again. Nor will I ever pass on my details to anyone whom I haven't met in person.

I would like to warn people of this company they are exceptionally skilled scam artists who will take your money and run. They know all the regulations for Visa and the chances of you being ripped off is huge.

You guys are silly this is not a scam you listened to it over the phone and they tell that it is not a contest or lottery you did not win anything they never say that. You are the ones who give you credit card number over the phone. You do get your vaction information in your emails did you not? It is actually a good deal 498.00 dollars for an 11 day vaction I mean come on? with the hotels included?!

I had this happen to me on January 21, I'm still trying to fight this... I will try, as suggested, to file with BBB and the RCMP. Also, I will try to get media coverage, at least in my area, through "Olsen on your side". Unfortunately people only go searching about this on the net when it's already too late...

I had the same thing happen to me it really sucked. I filed a report with the BBB as well as the RCMP phonebusters.com, I recommend you do the same as the more reports on the scam the sooner the company gets shut down! Sorry to hear I was not the only one!
