I purchased new dining room furniture from JCPenney and purchased their extended warranty which covers every kind of accidental damage immagineable. This includes nail polish, remover, blood, water marks, scratches, dents, gouges, heat marks, etc. I thought "wow" it is saffe to finally order a new table even though we have 4 kids! Well, we had a particularly bad weekend and on Friday, nail polish remover (being used without my knowledge:) was spilled on the table. Then, on Saturday at dinner one of my kids slid a serving platter across the table and it scratched it, and finally, on Sunday, my son dropped a lego model on the table and made a gouge. I reported the incidents all at the same time on Monday, and now because there is a clause stating that if there is an "accumulation of damage" the warranty is void, the table is not being covered! So apparently, if you have more than one thing happen to you table, the claim is denied. I have been going around and around with both JCPenney and Uniters and am getting no where, if a warranty sounds to good to be true, it probably is!

They are running a scam here making it look like a legit business, not only did the Living Spaces rep tell me in person that accidental stains are covered but it is also under the covered terms. They send me an email stating "We have evaluated your claim, based on the Terms and Conditions in your plan, the issue reported is not covered." this makes no sense to me when it clearly states in their Terms and Conditions #5 "Coverage: Five (5) years from the date you take delivery of your new furniture; this Plan provides you coverage for stains and /or damage on Fabric, Microfiber, Coated Fabrics, A&P Leather, Bonded Leather, Bycast Leather, Bicast Leather, Vinyl, Wood, Glass, Laminates, Metal, Stone, and other surfaces resulting from: Accidental Stains or Damage." It has not been 5 years since I purchased this dinning set. DO NOT waste your money on this, you will be throwing your money away because they will not help you or take any liability.

I purchased the 5 year plan from Uniters when I bought a furniture set from VCF. Was told anything would be covered. They have fixed nothing. I have been denied three claims. The first because they said I waited over thirty days when I didn’t realize the back of the frame was broke until I moved it to clean. The second and third claims were denied because they said it was the same issue. It was for all different sections of the couch and chaise. Springs broken, missing buttons, broken frame in back, tacks pushing out, spring noises in the arm and seat, cushion bulging in the middle. And they say none of it is covered. Junk furniture and junk warranty. I would NOT recommend anyone buying this warranty. It’s a total waste of money. I wish I had read some of their reviews before I bought.

I was told by Uniters that they were not the company contracted to provide my warranty. Had to do research for 2 months to prove them incorrect and now they won't even return my calls or reply to my emails. I have to call them and wait 1-2 hours for a representative. The message on hold tells me repeatedly "We look forward to providing you outstanding service. " What a crock of crap!

Bought a new electronic sofa/loveseat from Aki-Home and purchased the Uniter's Warranty they offered. 2 years in, the stitching began to open up. Contacted Uniter's last month and they said claim was denied because warranty had expired, even though the contract had a 5 year lifespan. Appealed the denial and Uniter's blocked my em-mail address.

Why put up with this? It's Class-Action Lawsuit Time People...Wake Up!

I'm a fellow victim to Uniters not honoring their warranty. In my case they dispatched a tech who was NEVER available, and in my opinion dodged my calls over a two-month period.

Here's what I'd like to suggest to everyone on this blog: (This gave me some satisfaction)
1. File a complaint with the Attorney General for the State you live in
2. File a complaint with the Attorney General for Florida (that's where they're headquartered)
3. File a complaint with the BBB
4. File a complaint with the Federal Trade Comission (the FTC is slightly akward for this but doable; most of their pre-fab questions are targeted towards telecom, telecommunications, utilities, etc.

It will only take a few minutes to post your complaints with these agencies. If enough people complain, it will get on the radar with one of these agencies who can generate some heat and maybe some action. Thanks

I have been arguing with Uniters for months! They denied my first claim saying that cracking and peeling were not covered in my warranty on my leather sectional. Then they denied my dispute after waiting for months for them to respond. They claim that the extended warranty that I purchased, that came with a leather care kit and clearly states that it covers cracking and peeling, that the warranty does not cover leather...only the structure of the couch. That is complete crap! Why would we get a leather kit with the warranty if it didn’t cover the leather? The salesman at JCPenney was raving about how good the warranty was and that they would replace it if it couldn’t be repaired...Total scam! We have talked to both Uniters and JCPenney and they both are saying the other is at fault. One didn’t give us the correct warranty and the other isn’t providing the right warranty. I will be going to the place of purchase tomorrow to talk to a manager. This is Ridiculous !

This is terrible! My claim was also denied by this company just as others have stated because of "accumulations of damages". I don't want to play these games with these scammers. I will cancel and request a refund. I am DEFINITELY interested in a class action lawsuit as well. - msncombs.01@gmail.com

I, too have had a bad experience with Uniters. I purchased a couch from Value City and about a year later I had damage. The springs underneath were broke and the material was ripped. I filed a claim with Uniters and sent them pictures. A tech came out and put a claim through. All I kept hearing was that a part had been ordered. No mention of what kind of part but no part can fix the damage done. It had to be replaced. I called a few times with the same old song and dance of "A part has been ordered and it takes 8-12 weeks", etc. I emailed them a few times after that & got no response so I filed a complaint with the BBB. Well, within 4 days of doing that I received a phone call from someone named Alan. I was not available to take the call but he left a message saying to call him for either a cash settlement or replacement of couch. Well, when I try to call it doesn't even ring. I have tried several times & nothing. When I check my 'claim status' it says 'cash settlement'. I never agreed to that. I am going to keep calling and if I don't get through, I will file another complaint with the BBB. I don't know how his company is still in business. It's ridiculous.

Purchased useless warranty. I have a 4 year old couch with a 7 year fabric warranty that will cover if I put a knife in the couch but won't cover if it is a manufacturer defect coming apart at the seams. What did I pay money for? Please lets get together and file a class action lawsuit. I await your reply...timanddeb724@aol.com

If you are still interested in a class action lawsuit, please add me too. My email is jennram0701@gmail.com. I purchased a sectional from Macy's with a warranty that is supposed to cover accidental stains. My son spilled Milk and also got a hold of the desitin - I called immediately. A tech came in was very nice and said that he would recommend they replace my couch. He even had me write down the stains. I also was missing a button. They denied both my claims and said the stains were "fading" according to the tech report. This is a lie. I saw what he wrote and also heard him on the phone saying they were stains he couldn't remove. I have documentation for everything and would be very interested in joining a class action law suit.

I bought one of the warranties because if you didn't use it, you got some money back after 5 years. So I spend over $500 to protect my sectional. Now that it is five years and 2 months after, the fine print in the plan says to get the money back, I have to go on a website to get a claim form and file it in within 30 days after the delivery date 5 years later...that's in the fine print...it was misrepresented to me...I was told I'd get a gift card I could use at JCPenney if I filed no claim...they never said I'd have to jump through hoops to get it...and have to remember when I took delivery 5 years later and make sure I file the claim within 30 days of that. All the while, I was waiting for that JCPenney gift card in the mail...so I am so outraged! I swear I'll never by a warranty again. Not only my money, but my aggravation, my outrage...I just wanted to get things done...Now I'm just so mad...it's ruining my day.

I have a year left on my five year warranty for my two leather couches purchased from Jordan's furniture. When we cleaned the couches with there cleaning product the color came off the middle seat section of a couch, because we did not report it within fourteen days of happening I was told Not Covered. Also told them that one of the recliners was still making noise from day one which they had looked at in the past and said Not Covered. This is not an Insurance policy this is a donation of our money to a company that does not stand behind the product. I will be going back to Jordan's to let them know how poorly there recommended insurance Co. takes care of there customers.

I agree with every single person who posted that this company is a ripoff, dishonest and a scam. My stain is so simple; no brainer to clean and repair yet Uniters refused the most simple stain to fix. I sent pictures yet they tell me scratch is not covered. The leather is in tact so it is a stain that can be cleaned. Yet they keep saying scratches are not repairable. I asked her what the hell are you covering? A scratch is not covered? What did I spend my money on? She told me she would send the coverage plan to me. The coverage clearly states scratches and stains are covered but she kept saying they were not. I agree with the other who posted that they are incompetent and wrongfully deny claims. I am getting a refund for my protection plan service. If everyone does this Uniters will be out of business quickly. I recommend ask for your money back and quit the protection plan. Ask the furniture store who supported hiring this company and give them this website and the Better Business Bureau. On their site, 85% NEGATIVE with 443 complaints filed all claiming that they won't provide coverage for the most basic repairs.

I am also so disappointed, disgusted and highly irritated with this so called extended warranty from Uniters. Same exact story as above I purchased a leather sectional from Value City Furniture in 20014 bought this wonderful extended warranty (scam) for 5 years . I filled a claim for a stain that happened they sent out a technician that agreed I should have a replacement and turned the request in. Like so many my claim was denied of course I was told it did not fall into there category of coverage. (What a surprise). I asked to explain why when the technician felt the stain should have a replacement What determines coverage and was told the technician has no understanding of their policy of coverage. I don't know to be more upset with Value City for selling this coverage or with this company which is a complete scam. DO NOT BUY THIS COVERAGE THERE IS SO MANY EXCLUSIONS . Once they have denied your claim you have no supervisor no phone number no one to follow up with. We spent approximately $3, 000.00 on the sectional and purchased this warranty for $400.00 to protect our investment . What a joke...Completely disappointed!

Ask your furniture company for a refund and you no longer want the protection plan coverage. This plan is a scam. The most basic accidents are denied. Read Better Business Bureau 443 complaints where they were all denied and nothing got fixed.

Uniters warranty is the worst.I have trying to my chairs cleaned / repaired and over a year. They man who came out both times was stinking with no underwear. He used 1.000 carpet cleaning spray and upholstery cleaning machine. The stains didn't come out and I called them right after he left. They said they sent out replacement covers I never received. End result they want honor the warranty and chairs not clean or fixed. And their customer service is very poor. Waste of money and time. BALTIMORE

Yes, I am interested also in a class action lawsuit. I have amassed a mountain of documentation that will be useful. Purchased recliner, service warranty, unit failed and was picked up by Uniters last August. No refund recieved, placed on hold for hours only to be disconnected (repeatedly), this tactic used by Uniters and JCPenneys, all crooks as far as I can determine. sandramast1955@gmail.com

Did anything happen with a class action lawsuit? I'm interested as well whereas we've been denied for "Multiple incidences" apparently cause by the footrest of the recliner being "slammed" down to close. I am furious with J C Penney/Uniters. Said since I did not report damage to my dining room table within 7 days of occurrence, I was out of the timeframe. Doesn't matter my 5-year extended warranty is not up until mid-June. I told them I have no way of knowing specifically when damage occurred as table also has a tablecloth on it, I did not know it was getting damaged from a WARM, not hot, dinnerplate. I was only guessing when it occurred. They have not heard the last from me! But I will not be purchasing anymore furniture from J C Penney.

We bought a recliner from JCPenny and bought the extended warranty with Uniters. There is a rip in the head rest which they are claiming is because of my body oil. WHAT? The guy who came to my house to take pictures was in my house for 30 seconds and didn't even feel the leather. How do they come to that ridiculous conclusion? JCPenny will never get business from us ever again! Shame on them for doing business with such a terrible company.

I purchased a sectional from Value City. We have been jumping through similar hoops since September. The sectional was basically stapled together instead of nailed/screwed. They did finally fix the sofa section in December, but we still don't have the chaise repaired. They told my wife that it wasn't covered. She asked to speak to a supervisor. She has called numerous times and has no choice but to leave a message. The supervisor has yet to call. It took forever to get the sofa fixed. I filed online with attached pictures. It all disappeared. There is no number to call them on the website or on the warranty papers like the website claims. The furniture repair company who fixed the sofa section gave us the number.

I mailed this complaint letter to Uniters. I have no high hope for a good result, but will continue updating my case here.

To whom it may concerns

Uniters Denial Dispute
P.O.BOX 10909
Riviera beach, FL 33419
Dear To whom it may concerns:
This letter is to complain about warranty service I recently received from Worrynomore. The reference numbers for my claims (sales check #) are MEXXX and MEXXX. Please also refer to proof of purchase document I enclosed with this letter for detail. I purchased several furniture items from Macys in 2008 and purchased Worrynomore protection plans for all the items. All items were purchased on the same day and were delivered on the same day.
Last year (June 2015), I called Worrynomore customer service to file claims on the king bed (paint issue) and a bench (stain on the fabric). To my great surprise, the representative told me that she can not find my information in the system and therefore I did not purchase the protection plan. I gave her my name, address, phone number and sale check number. She told me that she would do some research and call me back in 2-4 business day because she thought my information might be lost in the system upgrading process. However, she did not call me. In late July, I called again, another representative still can not find any information and promised to call me in another 2 days. However, no one called me. I called again in September (or maybe in early October), and got the same treatment.
This year (January 2016), I called to file another claim on the king mattress and mattress pad (my son had an accident in the bed). A Worrynomore representative still told me that, according to their system, I did not purchase any protection plan. Because the mattress is fairly expensive and I have to get a result here, I called Macys customer service for help. A Macys representative called Worrynomore on my behalf. This time, a Worrynomore representative somehow found that I did have protection plan! Two weeks later, a technician came to my house to fix the furniture. The technician refused to take a look at my mattress pad, king bed and the bench because he was only asked to come to my house to fix the mattress. The technician can not remove the stain on the mattress and asked me to sign a report. The technician told me that Worrynomore would call me within 2-4 business days to issue a solution for the mattress. My mattress was left soaking wet for 3 days and no one called me in the next week. When I called Worrynomore again, a representative told me that the system showed that I did not have any protection plan. I once again called Macys for help. A Macys representative helped me to ask Worrynomore agreed to issue a replacement mattress and sent me a replacement mattress pad.
However, Worrynomore sent me a wrong mattress pad (queen size, not king size) and did not send me any information regarding the mattress. Instead, someone called me to arrange sending another technician to my house to fix the mattress again. I once again called Macys for help. This time, Macys representative helped me obtaining a mattress replacement letter. On Mar. 2, 2016, Macys also scanned and emailed me a copy of my purchase documents (enclosed for your review). The documents clearly show that I indeed purchased protection plans for all my furniture items.
I forwarded the documents to RXXX (rxxxx@palladio.biz) at Worrynomore as a proof that I did have protection plan for my furniture. To my great surprise, RXXX and her supervisor immediately pointed out now my plans have been expired as of March 2016. I told them that I started filing claim in 2015 when my plans were not expired. But RXXX and her supervisor said that their system has no record of my claim and therefore, they have to reject my claim.
I expected a much higher level of service from Worrynomore and Macys. I am quite disappointed and I do not want to spend any more time talking with Worrynomore on this problem. For the past several months, Macys representatives are of great help and I really appreciated it. RXXX was also very good because she was the only one at Worrynomore who actually called me to try to find a solution. However, RXXX said she can not do much because the system now says my plans have been expired.
I am writing this letter to bring the matter to your attention. I would appreciate if you could investigate this matter and accept my claim even though part of the plan is expired now (because my plan was not expired when I first filed the claim last year).
Sincerely,

A

I am having the same problem right now. When I purchased my sectional from Value City, I also purchased the 5 yr warranty because I was told specifically that it would cover pet damage. I have three dogs and as much as I try to take care of my furniture, accidents will happen. The seams on the microfiber have started to fray and before I knew it my puppy got into the cushion and ripped out some of the stuffing. I filed a claim and was told that pet damage was not covered. So I filed a different claim and stated that the seams were fraying causing the upholstery to tear and the stuffing to come out. They again denied it. I have not even tried to call them simply after reading all of these comments. I have read through my warranty and it appears there are more things noted as "not being covered" than there are covered. It's a bunch of BS! There is a point on the warranty that states "You may cancel this Plan at any time for any reason by mailing a written request for cancellation and the original copy of this Plan to the Provider at, P.O. Box 11355, West Palm Beach, FL [protected]. If you cancel this Plan within the first 30 days after receipt of this Plan have not made a claim, you will receive a full refund. If you cancel after the first 30 days from receipt of this Plan or at any time after we have paid a claim, you will receive a pro rata refund based on the time remaining on Your Plan, less an administrative fee, not to exceed 10% of the price of the Plan or twenty-five dollars ($25.00), whichever is less, and less any claims paid, where allowed by law". I will be sending in my request to cancel and I am expecting this to be a battle and not receive the refund in any direct period of time. However, I am also prepared to fully dispute whatever they may try to deny me to the fullest extent of the law. This company needs to be SHUT DOWN!

This company is a TOTAL RIP-OFF! Do not waste your money. When I called to report a claim, apparently I said I noticed a tear in my couch 3 weeks ago and because I didn't say 2 weeks, they denied it even though I have 3 years left on my warranty. When I said it may have been in those 2 weeks since I didn't have my calendar in front of me, they basically said "too bad, we already have you recorded as saying 3 weeks." I asked to speak to a manager, and was put on hold; after 5 minutes you had to leave a message and they would call back in 24 hours; they didn't. So I called again and the same thing happened. THIS COMPANY IS A SCAM. I DONT KNOW HOW THEY ARE EVEN IS BUSINESS. Shame on any retailer who offers their service. I can't say enough negatively about their deceitful business tactics to get out of honoring their warranties. I have never dealt with a company as shrewd as this one.

DO NOT BUY THIS WARRANTY FROM UNITERS. We purchased a 7 year warranty from Macy's. We have a cracked leg on our dining room table and they are refusing to fix it. We also have a stain on one of the chairs. They are refusing to fix that as well because it wasn't reported at the same time. They just make it up as they go along and find a random technicality to back out of the agreement. They do not want to help in any way. They won't return calls and they make setting up an appointment very difficult. Your local cable company is a picnic compared these jokers. In my opinion Uniters is a professional ripoff artist company. Save your money. And shame on Macy's for dealing with this kind of company.

I purchased a leather sectional sofa and Uniter's Warranty. The coverage is for 5 years, starting from the date of delivery. A little over a year I noticed my sofa was beginning to peel and lose its color a little, so I reported the damage. The damage is only on one cushion where I set all the time. They sent a technician that according to them was on three cushions. I did not get the opportunity to see the report. They denied the claim because of "accumulation" of damages. I sent them more than five pictures of my sofa showing only ONE Cushion damaged. Then they denied the claim saying it looks like scratches and not peeling. I disputed the claim again showing that the first time they even stated that it was peeling. UNITERS IS DETERMINED NOT TO HONOR ANY CLAIMS.

We purchased our leather sofa from La-Z-Boy, including the extended warranty. We have kids and dogs - things happen! Recently the zipper on the cushion broke and the dog scratched the leather so we submitted a claim to Uniters. They told us that it wasn't within 14 day time frame (except we told them it happened the beginning of May and it's now May 4th). Not only are they not willing to cover a warranty that we purchased, they aren't exactly intelligent. Conveniently, their site is down right now and we can't even write a well-worded email to them. We have made many purchases from La -Z-Boy over the years, but if they continue to use Uniters as their extended warranty supplier, La-Z-Boy will officially lose our business.

I JUST HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH A SECTIONAL COUCH. THEY SAY THE WARRANTY COVERS ALL TYPES OF DAMAGES, AND THEN IN MY CASE GAVE ME SOME FINE PRINT AFTER I MADE THE PURCHASE THAT BASICALLY GIVES THEM LOOP HOLES TO GET OUT OF ANYTHING. THEY DO NOT RETURN PHONE CALLS AND MAKE EXCUSES. EVERY TIME WE GOT SOMEONE ON THE PHONE THEY GAVE US A DIFFERENT ANSWER ABOUT WHY IT WOULDN'T BE COVERED. THEY SAID THINGS LIKE, "THE WARRANTY WOULD COVER FLAME DAMAGE, BUT NOT FIRE DAMAGE." I STRONGLY DO NOT RECOMMEND USING UNITERS. THEY ARE A SCAM! THEY KNOW THAT A PIECE OF FURNATURES VALUE RARELY JUSTIFIES LEGAL FEES INVOLVED WITH A LAWSUIT, AND USE THAT TO BULLY PEOPLE INTO SUBMISSION. WE TRIED FOR 2 MONTHS TO GET THEM TO COVER WHAT THE ORIGINAL LITERATURE SAID SHOULD CLEARLY BE COVERED AND THEY NEVER HELPED!

Exactly what happened to me. Gave me loop holes and would not cover the most basic repair. It was s simple stain to my leather. I called it a scratch but they denied my claim. Said scratches are not covered. Yet in my brochure it says it is. The sales lady told me to get the protection it covered damage yet when you file the claim it is quickly denied. NO expert, no one to talk to just leave you high and dry. I called the rep and then asked for supervisor. Both denied my claim; scratches are not covered. It is a mark and I am not an expert I told them. It could be a stain. She said whatever it is it isn't covered. I had to laugh because no matter what I had nothing was covered and she admitted it. Nothing was covered and nothing would be covered. Ask for your money back at your furniture company. My furniture company will refund me my money.

This company is a Total rip off, how they are legally still is business baffles me. I supposibly have a sectional couch that's under warranty. I was late reporting a tear so I was denied coverge. So when the brace snapped I called right away, they sent a tech out and it's been 6 mos. and I haven't heard back. This company is garbage! And there customer service is disgraceful.

My warranty claim for cracking leather on my sofa was also denied due to accumulation of damages. According to the BBB, this warranty company has a history of wrongfully denying claims. Shame on JCPenney Home for 1. selling crappy furniture and 2. for selling faulty warranties.

The Uniters furniture warranty is a scam. I had called in about spilt milk on one piece of my sectional and pet urine on another piece. The technician came to my house with his phone to take pictures and then used my phone to call the report in to the company. They put me on hold for a bit...enough time for him to leave...and stated the stains where old and dried so they could not work on them. After taking 7 days to get to my house no kidding! One piece I put I'm the garage because after one cat peed on it another one did. They also used the word "cumulative" and stated if they worked on one stain they would be liable for the couch. Isn't that the point if the warranty to have them be accountable for coming to fix the stains? BIGGEST WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY...DONT BUY THE WARRANTY!

Uniters is playing games with us too. They make you jump through hoops in their time frames, but can take months for anything they choose on their end. The wrong part was sent, after waiting for 2 months for it to arrive. They offered cash compensation for partial value of the couch because the couch could not be fixed or replaced since it is no longer manufactured. I now live out of the area where the couch was purchased so the store was not able to replace my furniture with another choice as they were told Uniters would cover that. This cash offered to me, covering less than half of the purchase price, would nullify the warrenty so I wanted to think about it. When I realized the warrenty would not really be helpful I decided to take their offer. I did not call them the next day as I initiated I would, but the following day. Uniters informed me informed me I only had 48 hours to reply that the case is closed and they cut a check for $25 as a prorated returned warrenty. I imagine this also nullifies the warrenty too. My call just so happened to be within the 48 hour time frame. Uniters stated, as requested, a supervisor would call me Friday or Monday...It is Tues no call...Have contacted the better business beareau already. Moving on to the Atty Gen.

I purchased a sofa + protection plan from Value City Furniture in 2010. In 2011 my cat had an "accident" on said sofa. I used the protection pkg of solutions given at time of purchase, didn't help the smell, i did every thing i thought to get rid of odor. when i contacted Uniters in Sept of 2011, a tech came to my home in OCT. to examine sofa and take pics. I informed the tech of the situation and he could smell the urine. He informed me that Uniters would contact me after they received his pics and evaluation of the sofa within 14 days. 20 days later I received a denial letter stating there were no visible STAINS. I called to speak with the tech, he never returned my call. I called Stanley Steamers cleaners to completely clean and deodorize the sofa, but there was still a lil smell in the air. I had no choice but to replace the sofa due to upcoming holiday entertaining. THIS IS A FAIR WARNING TO ALL: THINK TWICE BEFORE PURCHASING A WARRANTY FROM UNITERS . jalayneeyre@sbcglobal.net
