I went to a network participant doctor with united healthcare for an annual check up & to check my cholesterol. The plan said it's 100% cover, but now I got a bill from the laboratory for $241. I called the doctor, but his nurse said it's not their problem and I have to deal with the lab. The lab said that the doctor ordered the two tests which I have not requested or informed about at the doctor's office. I called United Healthcare and they don't want to pay. So, now I am stuck with a bill. United Healthcare and it's PPO steal/rob/scam its customers.

I did not ask for any test except the cholesterol. United Healtcare and its PPO (you must be working for them) are out to scam their customers/patients.

I am angry with the physician also because he is a PPO for United Healthcare.

being a PPO for the insurance still doesnt make your insurance at fault. contrary to popular belief, physicians and insurances are not in together on this so called global scam to rip everyone off as you seem to believe. if the tests werent requested by you, i would highly suggest that you dispute it with the physician or the group tha he/she is part of

if you did not ask for the tests to be done, why would you blame the insurance? the insurance processes what gets sent to them. if anything, you should be mad at the physician for ordering the tests. insurance companies dont get paid for the tests that get done. the physician does

your plan says 100% for preventative exams. preventative services are defined by the what governments preventative task force determines to be considered preventative services. During your annual checkup, if you had a blood test for things such as STD's or other such things, they are not going to be covered under the preventative benefits even though it was done during your physical.

This is really the case with the blood tests that were done. insurance companies have to process what they recieve based on your benefits. if they are not covering it under the preventative benefits, its because it is not an eligible preventative test.
