Got an e-mail from the Awards Dept. with e-mail address [protected]@tampabay.rr.com informing me I had won a random online promotion program lottery ticket. It was for 956,420 pounds. They want my name, sex, age, occupation,tel,fax,country,e-mail,and winning number. I sent an e-mail asking where they were sending the money, cause they said it was to be credited to KTU/[protected]/03. What is that?

They wrote back and said they would send a check by International Courier Systems and I would have to pay the mailing charges. They gave me four so called phone numbers, but they are missing something to call London. Mr. Harrison Blair is the client services Manager there, with a e-mail of
[protected]@yahoo.co.uk. And the claims agent is Mr. Michael Martins at UK National Lottery Headquarters. Email: [protected]@yahoo.co.uk

I have sent him my first name and my e-mail address, but that is all. Am I in jepordy with my online info?

What can we do to verify or put these guys out of business?

My comments to the above complaint.

I have attempted to write the complaint verbatim as it was sent to me. I have found several grammatical errors that have caused me to believe I am being scammed.

I had been cheated byso called British Lottery Board, namely dogter Jeffery Cole. At first, I thought it was a quiz or at least a scam letter, after I read some informations and I recognized a game because it is no need to inform the visa card number (so far away I had one that require me put visa card number and i had stop playing) and it is something make me funny in my life, the sense of rick man and I have something interesting in our world. Never hoping that it true because they had no money to pay you with a big amount while they are london beggars.

i have recently recieved an e-mail i sent my name and occupation as these aren't details fraudsters can use to scam you. when i received a mail back requesting payment for the cheque alarm bells began to ring. i went onto the national lottery website and they state anyone asking for payment to send you winnings are fraudsters!
i think these people should be severly punished, i am a student nurse and currently work 60 hour weeks as i have two jobs, i was not sucked into paying the delivery costs however others may not be so lucky!
£450 is a lot of money to me and to most people surely there is something that can be done to shut these people down!

Wow, really?!?!?! Of all the things about this screaming that it is fraud (not the least of which is the ultra proper UK sending out an email littered with grammatical errors), did you really think that an official government employee representing an enormous lottery winning would use a 'yahoo' address for official business?

There should be an entrance exam before you're allowed to submit information on the internet.

Sir Thomas Hooper JP of Magnum Spedition Ltd

email Id:bmwprizeclaimscenter_11@live.com

I received a letter informing me I had won a BMW 2008 and also GBP 750, 000/- I was asked to select the deliver options
and had to pay for the delivery charges which were $910.65.
Two days later I was told I need a clearance certificate from the Briish Governement and had to pay GBP 3, 000/- I told him I could not afford that kind of money but he kept on harassing and would not put the phone down so I agreed to pay GBP 1, 500/- and Sir Hooper said he would make the rest of the payment. The following day he said the company is not allowing him to make the payment on my behalf so I had to send the balance. I refused saying I could not make the payments. A couple of days later he sent me an an email saying a diplomat would be delivering the funds to me in Kuwait and instead of the car they would pay me GBP 12, 000/- but I had to agree to pay the diplomat $ 4, 400/-.
I refused to make the payment and just asked him to send my money back to me. A few minutes later I received another email saying that they were sending Cash dollars instead of the draft and that now I had to pay GBP 9, 000/- I refused saying I do not have the money and requested Sir Hooper to send my money back to me. On 14th Aug 2008 I received an email from Sir Thomas Hooper saying that I would be receiving the funds from Nationwide bank PLC and that I was supposed to contact them which I have done. I have not heard from Nationwide bank.
How can I get my money back?
How can people like Sir Thomas Hooper be stopped?
Is he really a Sir?
London is becoming famous for these types of scams and what is the government doing to stop these scams.

why can't we all get together and tell the lottery that it is the peoples lottery because we put the money in the lottery so we should have a say in how we want the lottery to be run. and the way it should be ran is by putting the numbers in a hat or a box and then get some from outside to pick the numbers out. that's the way a proper lottery should be done and not by computers which pick favorite numbers.

I also received an email telling me I have won the U.K. National lottery. I have never, to my knowledge, bought a lottery ticket from U.K. and even though the email seems legitimate, this really sounds bogus. The email I received asked me to email someone in Liverpool, England to file my claim. It states that I am to give them my reference/batch #, full name, address, age, sex, occupation, and phone/fax number. I am going to find out more and let y'all know. There are so many internet scams out there it is sad.

Yeah, i too received an email from the so-called UK lottery... from what it looks like, i highly doubt that this many people would have actually won the lottery, so i think its a total scam... but than again, if it turns out to be real, ill be kicking myself in the head for a long time.

Does a national uk lottery even exist? Why does every search engine for that turn up SCAMS? Where is the uk government website? Are we fools for not finding out more information before double clicking DELETE!? What if you are homeless, helpless and hopeless, Can you at least dream it's a reality? Why are we even having this conversation? Anybody who wants money up front should be locked up for even asking!

I received the same email saying I had won a lottery. I did not fill out all the info they needed, but received a response back to claim the prize of over a million dollars. They of course want @ least a $1,000-$3,000 to claim the prize plus a scanned copy of my driver's license. If this was legit, a driver's license could be shown @ an US Post Office to pick-up the package. They had some lame excuse for not being able to deduct mailing fees from the prize money. I think this is a total scam and these people need to be stopped. It's a perfect way for these con-artists to get your money and identity information. Also a Harrison Blair with the International Courier Service was listed as the contact. What a totally British name! They must think we are stupid or something.

Agree with Marla Johnson, I too have received this type of email, surely there must be somewhere people like us can call to confirm something of this nature, is there an organization we can call to verify if we indeed have been winners of maybe an online draw e.t.c, as some of us do visit an awful lot of websites.

Please advise smb!
