U-Haul International service

I am extremely upset with this reservation! I came to this location at 4:50pm. I had mentioned about a reservation. The sa asked my number and did whatever and said $125. First of all I have used uhaul several times. How the person suppose to asked you about the kms needed. He didn't explain anything to me plus he wants me to return the truck by 4pm! I said I need it for 24hrs. He kept insisting to return the truck by 4pm because he is not going to be there. Wth! Why does he has the say as to what time I should return the truck? Is he paying for this rental? Its not like its free! I'm renting and paying! Therefore I will have the final say as to what time nor day i'm returning the truck! Thats the point of after hours drop off! Then he gave me the reciept but when I went out it was a 10ft truck... So I told him I made a reservation of 15ft truck. So he asked his co worker to get another truck! On my way out I asked him is he not going to inspect the truck with me? He said "no, it was already inspected". Seriously? He is so effin lucky that I was in a hurry! I want this complain escalated to the district manager! No matter how customer likes uhaul, if the service sucks, they won't come back! In a hurry to go home? No matter how many seconds ot minutes you stayed at work, you still get paid! You deal with customers, so learn to deal with it! You don't like your job? Then quit! But customers doesnt have to be miserable just because you are!

U-Haul International employment

I was working for uhaul for 8 months no problem no nothing I went on maternity leaving an everything come back to work and got promoted to a higher position just for them to run my background and fire me... If that's the case they should of ran my background before they hired me... Not to remind you when I got called into the office Frank the boss couldn't even look me in my eye to tell me the he's firing me..I have no felonys I only have petty misdemeanor charges... I didn't know it was serious to have to where I get fired... this company is a total waste of time... they are so rude the managers have no authority, all the employees do whatever they want walk all over the mangers and play around when it comes to business... uhaul is always trying to build more locations but can't even finish the ones that where already started... I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND ANYONE TO WORK HERE OR RENT FROM HERE...

U-Haul International rental of a u-haul truck - contract [protected]

This u-haul rental was a disaster from the beginning but let me recap. The renting agent (Smith Marine in Ridgeland MS)was VERY helpful in reserving the unit and allowing us to pick up early (even though we did not need it till Monday morning) since they closed early on Saturday and we were out of town Saturday morning. So we only used the unit from Monday (6am) until turn in on Monday at 5pm. Therefore the charge for the extra day and fee of $54.00 should be taken off completely.
Secondly we rented a 10' not a 15'. We did not want the larger unit and it was more difficult to drive.
Thirdly, we started getting text and emails Monday am that our 10' unit was ready for pick up at the Pearl MS location.
Then we called your office and we were instructed by Josh that the key was the only contract and since the unit was empty we should return it empty. As noted on the photos attached the unit had a hair over a quarter of a tank and was returned with a little under a quarter. I don't think $76.00 for a couple gallons of gas is fair.
When we turn the unit in Houston Texas. The agent was more interested in his electronics business, eating his food on the counter and talking on the phone. I was the only customer in the entire store. He was rude and said he would email a copy of the receipt. We moved out of the country to Belize and are not able to file a complaint to him.
Respectfully we request that these charges be reversed on the credit card on file.
Thank you

U-Haul International refusal to accept a cash deposit for a $38 local rental

I have rented several trucks from uhaul in the last few weeks and have simply paid a $100 deposit for the rental and received a cash refund for the difference. However, this past Saturday-10/01, I attempted to rent a truck for a short, local move ($38) and the dealer not only refused to accept cash but stated in a room full of customers that "when people give cash deposits, they will steal the truck". The location of this dealer is in the 30281 zip code and my name is peter mancuso-phone number [protected].

What is the Uhaul policy in regard to cash deposits and a dealer's refusal to accept same? I have rented trucks from Uhaul for 50 years and have NEVER had this happen

U-Haul International aggressive/frightening behavior and poor customer service

I went to the Uhaul location at
This is the absolute worst customer service I have EVER had. The gentleman by the name of Curtis was so unprofessional and his demeanor was actually very threatening. He was so angry his face was beat red as he jumped up out of his chair and proceeded to yell at me. His aggressive demeanor really startled me and my daughter who was right outside the office. She said it scared her because it sounded as if he was going to put his hands on me. I have to say I was very fearful to say the least. The issue was that my driver's license had recently had expired, however, I had already renewed online. It takes 7-10 days to receive in the mail. He was refusing to rent to me because I didn't have the replacement license. I asked him if he would mind printing out a copy of the message from the DMV that states it validates I have a current license until the actual replacement arrives in the mail. He had a major attitude and kept yelling at me stating that the email would not work and I would be arrested if I got pulled over. I explained to him the email even states otherwise as long as I have the printed copy on me which I had asked him if he would mind printing it if I emailed it to him. Overall very unprofessional on his part. If he didn't want to rent to me all he had to do was say that and I would have just left. There was no need for such unprofessional, aggressive and down right frightening behavior. I am a military Veteran of 24 years and have moved too many times to even count and have always used uhaul. This man's behavior simply gives uhaul a bad name and like nothing I have ever experienced before.

U-Haul International reservation that was not ready

Good Morning
Attn: Mr. Edward J. Shoen
I have used Uhaul many times and again but this time has got me scratching my head and made me want to be riembursed.
I put in a reservation for a truck for a certain time and arranged my day accordingly because I had to use several people to make this happen because I was going to be moving an hour and half away. The day came and I went to the location of the pick up and no one was there, this was very agravating to say the most. I called the office and we had gotten disconnected two times after giving my information and the whole story. the third time I called, I said to the person on the phone please do not disconnect the phone. I finnally got to speak to the regional office after numerous calls to the pick up location which they said they have to send me to another location to pick up the vehicle. This put me way behind schedule because now I have to go backwards from which I just came from, my ride that was doing me a favor is late for thier appointment and using thier gas because they couldnt just leave me. This put me two hours behind schedule and two more hours labor because I couldnt let them leave, I needed them also. I finnally recieved the truck and it had less than a quarter tank of gas. I have rented Uhaul trucks before and they always come full and you have to bring them back full. This was another set back. I fill the truck up with gas which was $68.00 because I didnt know how much I would need. I finnally get everything done a little passed eleleven pm. The young lady expressed to me that she would riemburse me fifty dollars but that dosent even pay for my extra labor I had to pay for or my gas. Im asking that you guys reimburse me the whole amount that I payed, that still wouldnt make me whole but will show your compassion to a loyal customer.

I came online this afternoon to see where I should begin to file a complaint. This was the first, and I believe most recent, post here and I felt as though I may as well be reading my own complaint. Such a similar story. Reserved the truck for said date and time with confirmation from U-haul only to find out on my way that there wasn't a truck for me. Luckily I was given notice via phone call from them however this caused 3 hours of unnecessary driving all over all the while being told a truck was waiting for me (which upon arriving was not there). This also caused my whole day to be off and behind. It's really tough, to say the least, when you reserve a truck and make plans for a days worth of moving plus the arrangements with people to help load and move only to be yanked around, waste time, spend a chunk of extra money etc etc... I will be putting a complaint in. It is ridiculous! There were even problems, on Uhauls end, when it came down to returning the truck. The location they gave me wouldn't work and I had to drive even further to return it because the original location given wasn't open and did not have a drop box for the keys. You would think they would have been aware of this to begin with. My previous experiences were never like this! I am completely put off from this experience. I too am hoping for a refund. Best of luck to you there fellow mover!

U-Haul International ubox

We resently moved from nj to sc we scheduled our uboxes for on the 7th to be shipped on the 9th. we payed 1400.00 and some change to have them delivered to Myrtle Beach drop off and then paid 124.00 to have them delivered to our home. We called to see when they were shipped first aestate who stored the boxes said they were shipped on the 11th then they changed it to the 15th.I got an email state in they shipped on the 12 that's when they charged my credited card, when we call uhaul they said they didn't know the shipping date but when my husband called they told him it was shipped on 18th. we have been here sense the 9th it is now the 23rd and we still don't have our furniture that was suppose to be delivered to Myrtle Beach on the 18th and then driven to our residents on the 20th. But that hasn't happened, they keep changing without notify us. the dates sept, 18th, 20, 21, 25, 28, now the 10/02 and they don't call you and update you on any delays or issues they maybe having, and when you call them you get the run around, or rudeness, or transferred to another department because they can't help you or say they don't know, or just don't want to be bothered.

U-Haul International unethical behavior

Uhaul "Moving and Storage at the Diamond" has been overcharging me, coming up with constant excess fees, and being extremely rude since I had the unfortunate responsibility of taking over as the renter of a Uhaul storage unit used by my son and his Fiance and originally leased by her mother.

Many of the things in the Unit were on loan from me so I had to keep the unit open However I would never have chosen this very poorly maintained facility run by an unbearable ownership if I had any choice.

The unit gate barely works and often simply doesn't. The door to my unit can only be opened with a hammer and screwdriver just to push the hinge over. The lock on the unit was purchased from the owners and I believe they were told it was a requirement so I have only one key to the unit.

Every month they somehow add on 50 or more dollars in late fees. There are many Uhauls in the area and I have rented from others and this one has averaged me 50% higher than others both Uhaul and other big names. Never have I been so disappointed and trapped by a storage organization.

Now I have the final straw broken. Recently I paid over $250 dollars to catch up on all the late fees and other gimmicks so that I could get stuff out of the unit before I leave the city again. I discovered the key was missing and in storage at my apartment in New York.

Now the owners tell me they cannot open the lock for me (even with my permission) and that I need to hire a certified locksmith. This will cost more than a hundred dollars easily and I am sure they get some kickback. They say this despite the constant claim that they will open the lock and auction off everything if too many days in arrears. They will not budge on helping me open my own storage unit with a lock bought from them.

I will not be able to get my stuff out of storage and will be stuck paying these horrible people from another city to prevent them from opening the unopenable lock and auctioning off my furniture.

Thier location is 2930 N Blvd, Richmond Va 23230 and they are called "Uhaul Moving and Storage at the Diamond. Thier phone number is [protected]. Something needs to be done and I leave town in less than 2 weeks. Their website is: https://www.uhaul.com/Locations/Truck-Rentals-near-Richmond-VA-23230/824081/ . My number is [protected]. Help

U-Haul International rental of uhaul vehicle

My daughter arranged for a uhaul online to be picked up at a location near her father and I to drive her moving items to nyc from nashua nh. This was done 2 weeks in advance. A day before the pickup she received a text that there were no vehicles available at the nashua location and that we would need to drive to lowell ma. To the 1514 middlesex st. Location (1/2 hour away) at a pick up time of 5:30 p. M. On sunday 9/18.
We made the drive and arrived at 5:03, early! The two young men at this location opened the door to the location and pointed to the sign that said they were closed at 5:00. We showed him our text through the glass that said we were to pick up at this location at 5:30. He said he could/would do nothing and handed us his manager's card, warner jackson phone [protected] or his cell [protected] then they drove away. No answer at either number for mr jackson. I called the uhaul number on our order and spoke with a "joe" at ext. 861384. He tried to help by explaining to me that my daughter's registration online was an "after hours pickup" and if we followed the instructions on her email we could find the key and get our truck on our own. That proved to be difficult to do for us as we could not get into the site even with our daughter providing us the email and password. When the useless employees returned to do something (Lock up?) I asked them about this after hour pick up and they said this location doesn't do that. Why then were we instructed to go there via text at 5:30 if this wasn't that kind of uhaul location?! Meanwhile my daughter in nyc is trying to reach someone and she is getting put on hold, being refused a chance to speak with a manager or supervisor, and eventually being hung up on by a priscilla.
Meanwhile I call back the main customer care number asking for joe and of course they don't know who that is so I get a very condescending gentleman who repeatedly tells me he will fix this, it's easy and tries to direct me how to get the after hour pick up thru the registration my daughter did online, telling me she made a mistake because she had to be the one to pick up the vehicle. He stated the pickup is very specific and they require the person who ordered the vehicle to be the one to pick up to prove it is them (?) I asked him why then she was required to give her father's name when ordering the vehicle as the second person for pick up? I asked him if people can't order vehicles from afar? He said no. Never mind that he was not even hearing me telling him that this location was not an after hour pick up and that uhaul made the mistake by sending us there! He argued until I realized I was getting nowhere with him and needed a vehicle asap as we had everyone lined up in nyc the next day. I wound up cancelling the order so that I could start over and be done with the [censor] on the other end of the line. After heading home (Now 7:30) we tried calling the scheduling number hoping for some luck, I was told someone would call us back within an hour and no one called us back. Around 8:30 I called again and was told we were scheduled to pick up the next morning in salsbury ma., which is nowhere near us and when were they going to even let us know this?! I cancelled that pick up. I kept trying and finally got someone who told us we could pick up a van in nashua daniel webster highway location the next morning at 7:30. I wish I had her name and number because she was the only person any of us talked to who had some sense of our urgency and was able to get us a vehicle, late but whatever at this point. As a result it set the whole next day back as we planned to load up the night before and instead had to do it the next morning after pick up and could not get to nyc until 4:30 in the afternoon and the building didn't allow moving in after 5:00 pm. This was a horrible experience and total incompetency on the part of uhaul in every dept. That we contacted as well as every location with the exception of the last customer service rep. You can track our order with our original order number [protected] at the budway location in nashua, nh. They are the originators who sent us a text with instructions to go the the lowell location.
I would like a response to this email. I think that warner jackson and his team at the middlesex lowell location should be informed of their incompetency and lack of customer care. Even having left a message on mr jackson ‘s voicemail for help, I have yet to hear back from him and his employees were unbelievably incompetent and rude.

U-Haul International wilton manors u haul storage location on dixie highway

I would first like to thank you for taking the time to read the following letter. My situation and my compliant relates to my frustration with the inability to get a simple issue resolved, and due to continued attempts unanswered on my behalf has reached unprecedented levels. My company regularly has selected and has used The U-Haul Corporation from 2012 until present, both rental truck from 1600 miles to 800 Miles and Storages countless times, last year alone we rented from Topeka, KS. On Topeka Blvd Units and Trucks, Omaha, NE. on L Street units and Trucks, Ft Lauderdale, on Dixie Highway FL. Units and most recent Tulsa, Ok. Lightning Rentals on 15th Street Trucks, in addition we have rented additional times Trucks in Tulsa, Ok. at 11th Memorial Van Buren, AR. Hot Spring, AR. And Houston Texas. We are a Construction Company that renovates Hotels throughout the United States. Yet during all these times most often there were never any incidents, and id there where the situation was handled immediately. Our Situation arises for the Storage and Truck facilities in Wilton Manors, FL. on Dixie Highway listed as U-Hail at five Points. In which we rented a Climate controlled Unit and Non climate controlled unit in June of 2016, it was one year later on June 15th I arrived to remove items from the climate controlled unit. It was approximately mid to low 90s when I arrived, the clerk at the desk said it will be warm, I truly thought she was only being polite upon my reply I found out the AC was not working and had been down for some period of time. Not a day or two yet much longer, no notice or warning that U-Haul was incapable of repairing and might need to move any of my items that would be vulnerable. Upon spending over 4 hours that allowed me to make a carry load the box up and than sit into cab to try to cool down to prevent extreme overheating. This procedure of moving a few boxes from the unit down the stairs on a cart place into my U-Haul close back door due to homeless persons walking through unprotected than sitting in cab of U-Haul and turning on AC drinking water to cool down, even with extended time I could no longer complete entire move I was exhausted my clothes covered in sweat I left four Floor lamps, New microwave and lamp shades. Except the aforementioned items I made sure the Unit was cleaned the door left open and contacted the property 7:00 Am June 16th. During the removal of the items in the Unit the heat in that enclosed space in the second floor scanned from my temperature gun 98 degrees aand higher with a humidity of over 80% . When trying to get a resolution of this issue and the items destroyed through the extreme heat I only get the directive to make an insurance claim. An insurance that was purchased from U-Haul for the possibilities of Fire, Flood, Structural damage to roof that could create water damage or damage from elements, flooding vandalism and or theft to property, Insurance does not warrant property damage from the inability or direct willful neglect of property to perform due diligence. I have reached my point to either immediately resolve and if not contacted to reach an agreement I will be left to take any and all legal actions available to be made whole. I have left numerous numbers from CSA at the customer service center, to The Phoenix headquarter to the promise of district managers to never hear from the many vast promises someone will call you from immediate to of a day or two or maybe three you will be contacted that never happens. However four times to be called back by property where incident happened to be spoken to by Manager Twice and two times by different CSA offering me a one month rebate on rent and make a claim to the insurance. To add additional Frustration when I arrived to the site I asked if get a new card to gain entry into the yard, the Customer service agent informed me not to worry that the gates were either broken or at least no longer being used for months. To make matters worse the property had various homeless individual's walking the property at night as I was unloading Unit, a couple Homeless individuals sleeping in a garage opening at the property within 30 feet of my access door. I truly hope that you will be the company I have put my faith into rather than the situation this has become.

U-Haul International uhaul and john lau at corporate customer service

Let me first start this off with my family and myself have been renting Uhaul trucks/trailers since I can remember.
We have never had any issues with pricing or attitude.
I placed a call to my local uhaul dealer here in Long Beach Ca. They promptly transferred me to ubox once they knew I needed a quote.
Once I was transferred to ubox, a nice lady answered and helped me. "So I thought" We are moving from Long Beach to Anchorage Alaska. It is an extremely difficult and expensive move. I received a ubox quote of $3900 for 2 Uboxes. In addition a $99 delivery fee and a $365 delivery fee in Alaska.
I asked the representative to please hold my quote for me for a week until I could get the exact date we were moving. She said no problem just. All back when you're ready and we will have your quote on file.

So a week goes by and we finally have a go date to move. I called back to reserve the Ubox's and pay whatever upfront fees needed.
The lady answered the phone and was very pleasant. She asked my phone number for the quote that was saved. She then states that the quote was for 2 Uboxe's and the price was $7800. I almost had a heart attack when she said the price. I told her their must be a mistake. She put me on hold to check a few things. After holding for 10 min the call dropped.
I called back 2 more times trying to reach a manager to help me with this issue. The last representative called me a [censored] and hung up on me.
I called back for now the 4th time. I finally reached someone that knew what empathy was. She got me straight to a manager.
The manager was very nice and seemed as though she really did care about my needs and what I went through.
After holding for 20 min she said she would have a corporate representative overlook the case and get back with me within 3 business days. She also asked me if I wanted the quote emailed to me and the phone records from all the nonsense that has happened thus far.
I said yes I would like the records.
Of course I still have not received the records to this day.

I received a call today 8/30/2017 from John Lau. A customer service manager from Uhaul corporate.
He said that they had a decision on what to do about the issues that happened. He apologized and offered me a $50 coupon for merchandise and stated that it was my fault for not booking the quote at the time it was given.
I then asked to speak with his supervisor. He said no! I will not be transferring you to anyone else. This is the decision and it's final.

I was floored and could not believe he had the odasity to turn this around on me.
At this point I am so pissed off im about to lose it!
I have researched and saved the money needed to make a 4, 000 mile trip to Alaska with my family. And this so called manager of customer service has the nerve to tell me it was my fault and offer me this ridiculous coupon!
It would have better if he told me to go f-$& myself.

I really hope someone will contact me about this. I understand some employees ruin the reputations of corporate companies and run great customers off.
I do not think this is right and I want to give Uhaul the opurtunity to make this right.

At his point I do not have the extra $4000 to make the trip to Alaska. My Job is waiting for time to arrive and start work. I unfortunately will have to let them down.

This has put so much stress on me and my family. After being a longtime customer of Uhaul this is the thanks that I get.
I understand not covering the entire cost of a mistake. Offering $50 is like spitting in my face.
I would even be willing to split the cost of a small trailer so I can tow the rest of our things the rest of the way.

If you would like to contact me regarding this horrible situation please do.

I totally agree with you sir. I had an customer service issue in addition to the raggedy truck they gave me with no interior lights and constant squealing as well as the smell of something burning last night and [censor] John Lau called and was super rude which added insult to injury. I will not recommend U-haul to anyone after being a customer of theirs for years now. I will be taking my business elsewhere. Sorry about your very expensive mishap.

U-Haul International unauthorized credit card charges/unethical behavior

I rented a UHAUL from a hole-in-the-wall location that had two trucks. A walkthrough was never done when I rented the truck. Right before I began my move I noticed a damaged speaker. When I returned the truck, I paid the bill I was presented and brought the speaker to the attention of the "owners". Two weeks later, my account is drained of the last money I had in my account and when I looked into it, I was told it was from UHAUL because of damages and a "dirty truck." They said I also owed about $100 more still, including a $30 fee for not paying the balance within 7 days. I never received a phone call, an email, or an invoice in regards to this "remaining balance" and when questioned further, all they could provide me was an UNSIGNED promissory note that was drafted AFTER I left the location. Even the regional manager Chris Starr was entirely unhelpful and had no customer service skills at all. He did not address a single one of my concerns and simply told me he was not changing the charges. This was AFTER I had to email him three times to get a response.

U-Haul International truck rental - nashville, tn / charlotte ave.

I've held a reserved /confirmed rental for a pickup truck rental at this location, near my home, three times in less than three years.
Each time I've arrived exactly on time, but no truck was available, although ... some larger truck was.
Each time, I was also told they might be able to find a pickup truck at a different U-haul location.

Its obvious that the U-haul method (in Nashville at least) is to get you to come to a location and just work something (whatever) out.

So, third time is the charm.
I'll never return to any U-Haul. There are other options.
My time is valuable to me, even if it means nothing to them.

Oh so now, not only was the gas tank empty and no blankets that we reserved were there now we were rented a truck with a mail in the front tire. So JORGE says you have 2 options, go get the tire fixed or pay us $175.. [censor]! So he out our contract o hold. What does that mean.

U-Haul International changed "reservation"

I made a reservation for a trailer 10 days in advance over the phone. Less than 24 hours before I needed it, I got an email changing the time and place of pickup. This was not acceptable to me so I called them. They were rude and surly, and did not understand why I was upset. I got no resolution from them and had to change all of my plans at the last minute to get my move done. They never once offered any kind of help and they actually thought I was the one making the trouble! Apparently a reservation with uhaul means nothing. They need to look up the words "reservation" and "customer service" inn the dictionary. I wont use or recommend them again.

U-Haul International charges

I used U-haul in May 2017 and paid by credit card. Then, months later in July I noticed they charged my chard $6.90 without any notification they were doing so. I called to inquire what this was for and they didn't have a documented reason but the person I spoke to thought it was probably for toll roads. Ok that's find with me if they charge me for tolls. What is not ok with me is that I did not receive any notification of this charge. A bill would be what I would expect and would be the professional thing for a business to send you. I was told I would get a call from a manager which never happened. I was going to call back but I ended up letting it go. However today I noticed I had two new charges from uhaul - this is now 2 weeks after the first random charge. One is for $6.64 and the other $11.54. Still no explaination or email. I'm canceling my credit card because it seems to me they just will charge you whatever they want without a bill or email notification . Sounds like credit card theft to me. Never using them again and I suggest against using them because they will charge you and not tell you probably hoping you don't notice. It's not much money but to me it's just such a [censor] move.

U-Haul International service

On July 27th around 3 pm I made reservation on line for a truck Friday afternoon 330 pm for 24 hrs. I was picking up at 48th and Powell. At 330 pm July 28th I called the uhaul on 48th and Powell to confirm and let them know I was on way was running a lil late. They said it was fine. When I was about 2 blocks away from uhaul on 48th and Powell I recieved a call from customer service uhaul letting me know that I was not able to keep truck over night as it was going out at 9 am July 29th . I informed the person who called that I need truck over night . She then informed me the only truck available 15 ft that I could keep 24hrs was located on 122nd and airport way. I told her that was way out my way and why was i not contacted earlier. I then asked for a discount since it was way out my way . She informed me that I could not get a discount as I should should of ordered truck earlier that the other people who orders my original pick up had ordered the truck a month in advance. So I ended up going 30 extra miles out my way and had to pay money I don't have. I mentioned to the uhaul on 122nd and airport way where I picked truck up and they told me to come here and send it in. I mean someone could have told me when I reserved truck or at least way before my pick up time.

U-Haul International service

The U-Haul on 10105 State Hwy. 64E. Tyler. Tx. 75707 should be closed down immediately. There is one woman working there who provides no assistance to hooking on trailers. She doesn't even have knowledge as to how to do it. She handed us a jack that didn't work and a direction pamphlet. She was also extremely rude telling me if I didn't put the blankets in a bag I would be charged $25.00.
