I came to U Turn For Christ and paid about $800 for their assistance and it was not like I imagined. No one there wanted to help me even after I paid the money. I hope to get a full refund.

Stay away from Bethlehem PA, it's a cult.. my son's father just left.He cried while telling me what happened there. There's abuse, mentally and I firmly believe sexual as well. When I went to his 3 month celebration I had a bad feeling about the whole program. All I saw were cult tactics, work, work, work religion shoved down your throat, no time to consider what they're doing to you. He wanted to leave then but he stayed, for about 5 months and was in phase two. I believe there was damage done to him there. No real help with his alcohol addiction, as soon as he left, two days later, right back to drinking. Having religion crammed down your throat won't get you sober. I have 7 years off heroin and I can Attest that " god" or the Bible had nothing to do with it. Go anywhere else to get real help with addiction.

I am on the spectrum and went to U-turn in Colorado. I met, for the first time, God at that run down house and walked out of there 3 weeks after signing in. God reached into me and flipped on a light switch. I understand myself in relationship to the neurotypical world now. All prayers were answered. God is the only answer to our struggle here on planet earth...period

They took me off all of my psychiatric medication’s. I was not on any narcotics. They had to call the hospital on me for wanting to kill myself. From the hospital I called them and one of the leaders asked me where all the fear was coming from. Also, I was gonna have to dig a hole when I came back. When I tried to come back at night they wouldn’t let me. My husband had enough. Since then my life has been restored and I’m very grateful.

Wow! It's terrible to say so, but I am relieved to read about other people having the same similar experience with U-turn for Christ that I had. I went to U-turn in Colorado Springs March of 2017. My friend paid $1, 000 for 60 days. All these other complaints and comments are absolutely true. No food was ever bought, hardly ever had any milk to drink, had to work do stupid repetitive chores around the house 5 days a week I lost track of how many times I wash the windows. The counselors and overseers bring her early twenties I'm just barely clean from drugs themselves. The show called Pastor, Jeff Hill, is inspiring Christian rap producer. It's hard to be forced to get up at 5 a.m. When you work at up awake until 3 a.m. Because of the thumping of the bass speakers coming from the pastor's living quarters directly behind your room. I separated my shoulder splitting wood and had to beg for 3 days to be taken to the emergency room. I was told if I left that I would be kicked out and not allowed to come back and get my things and if I refuse to leave that the police will come. There is absolutely none whatsoever of the love of Jesus Christ and his place. They were absolute Pharisees. I finally threaten them with a lawsuit and possible criminal charges if they did not take me to the emergency room that I would raise such a fuss with the local newspaper and the Calvary Church that sponsor them that they took me to the hospital. 3 days later with my arm in a sling absolutely ridiculous I was told to get a hole. When he came and getting my medication with my insurance co-pay he was only $4. Counselor overseer and pastor all refused to give me $4 so I can get my medication. I secretly and privately told a member of Calvary Chapel what was going on. He gave me a $10 bill to get my medication, then he went and told the pastor what I had said. The very next day I was told to dig a hole again for backbiting and gossiping and not submitting to Authority. U-turn for Christ in Colorado Springs for the sick and twisted place. I lasted all of 30 days there from start to finish and when I was told to leave on the threat of police presence I asked for half my money back $500 and I was told no. I lived a hundred miles away in Denver. I finally agreed that I would leave if you gave me $100 out of the Thousand I paid so that I can get a bus ticket back to Denver and something to eat on the way and I was told no that I had signed the papers saying that if I left that my money was considered a donation to the ministry. So totally and corrupt this program sounds like a scam everywhere all over the country and which I attached it is. May God have mercy on those wolves in sheep's clothing.

My proudly say my name is Paul Griffin. I hope they read this ! I went to U-Turn for Christ in Lexington South Carolina. I had hoped to reconcile with my wife who wanted a divorce. I had a beer drinking problem, that's all. I never drank hard liquer. I was probably the biggest "Lightweight " on the premesis. Almost everyone else there was a MULTIPLE REPEAT heroine addict. I flew about 1000 miles from Rhode Island for what was supposed to be a 60 Day stay.
I already went there with a broken heart from the coming Divorce. U-Turn proceeded to CRUSH me further. The facilities were horrible. 25 men living in a trailer with 2 small bathrooms. As others have stated there IS NO COUNSELING at all. THe "Overseers" were herione addicts with only 2 months sobrety under their belt. While I was ther the HEAD Overseer Joe Petrone did Heroine himself on the premesis and was only temporarily demoted. THe "Leader" and Head Pastor Steve Marchant was the biggest ### I have ever met in my life. All he ever did was yell at me and he actually FREAKED me out by Verbally accosting and Emotionally RAPING me, I kid you not ! HE was NO man of God ! Everyone was MEAN, especially to me a Northerner. The only space I was allowed to walk around was a small back yard where I paced back and forth between the fences. I was completely freaked out the entire time I was there. Everyone lived in FEAR of punishment, like their favorite one, making a man dig a 5 foot hole around and deep. BUt it HAD to be done at 11pm at night ! I tried to cooperate the best I possibly could and for that I ACCUSED of not getting with the program. THe Program was 30% LAME bible studies, a cassete tape put on. The other 70% of time was manual labor. Much like a jail or CHAIN GANG. When my 60 days was almost up, I found out that they were going to try to KEEP ME THERE ! So I "Escaped" I hoofed it on the road. THey would not help me or let me make a call. They threw away my cellphone ! And they nearly didn't retourn my money I'd left them to hold. I barely made it back to Rhode Island. If you're not a completely hopeless Heroine addict with no where else to go. DO NOT GO THERE ! I did better going to a councellor when I got home and got off alcohol myself with the help of the Lord, not THEM !

There are no staff members or treatment whatsoever. I believe in Jesus and he loves me. This place is not sanitary there are no restrooms just portables, and no kitchen or indoor shower. You work all day and go to church each night and all rules the make must be followed or you dig a hole in the ground to belittle you. Everything is off limits except the bible. I'm grateful to be sober but I need to speak truth and bring this place to light! It needs to have staff and educated people around. The only leader you see daily is 22 years old and one self ordained pastor can't even read! This place is a nightmare please do not go here is you want to get off drugs. Find the lord on your own and spend $3500 on a real facility. If you have any questions contact me and I'll happily answer any...ask for jack or Tyler. Thanks

Hi Jack my husband just came from two weeks of hell at U Turn For Christ in grants Pass Oregon. Are you open to discussing your experience further? I am convinced this organization need to be exposed for their spiritual and physical abuse of people who are suffering with alcohol and drug addiction.

Hi. I attended U-Turn in 2016 in Perris, CA and would love to speak to anyone looking to end the abuse that happens at these organizations. Their treatment of humans is exploitive and inhumane and should be ended. They should never be allowed to advertise as a court approved rehab. I experienced verbal, emotional abuse, withholding of mail, sleep deprivation, shunning, and sexual advances from the director of the men's home there. If you'd like to talk my private email: sassysince90@gmail.com

I stayed at u turn for Christ Kauai and was charged $3, 500 to live in a tent although they say it is payed for you need to work in exchange for the $3000 a month bill they owe to the Hawaiian homestead for the land they rent. All good is donated and there is no electricity! Where did my $3500 go!? They beat you with the bible until you break! You can't talk about, drugs, music or anything not Christian! They are so close minded and you can't even confide in them because they will put a personal spin on whatever your grievance. I went to 2nd phase after first because I was homeless when I arrived yet there is no counsling, help for food, or to get a job, yet you need to follow all rules and go to church 7 days a week and pay them rent or your on the street again. I am sober but on my own accord but I need help on being independent and successful yet I can't get the help I need here. Idk what to do!?

Completely agree. Have dealings with pa location. Money hungry. Tell everyone they need to stay for 2nd phase. The directors freshly married trying to have alot of kids. No counseling don't pay bills. All food you eat is donated even though they say you pay for food. Had to beg for milk. Pull weeds out of a parking lot all day in 90 degree heat. Couldn't talk about any man unless your husband or discipline. Overseer a joke. Barely off drugs herself. Directors wanted someone in there so they didn't have the responsibility any more. Alot of hidden rules there. Any you better be clean when you get there because you only get 3 days rest. They left an old, man seize outside on a driveway and didn't get him any help. This place gave me worse anxiety than I started with. Control freaks a cult. Etc. Could keep ranting.

I feel the same way. I sent my fiancee for care and all they did was tear him apart, deny him medical care when he fractured his wrist, made him do manual labor with said broken wrist, kept me from writing to him, and eventually when he walked, they took thousands of dollars in brand new stuff I'd just bought him, and took the last blanket he slept under with his daughter he hasn't seen in almost two years - and then they had the gall to insult me when I tried to get it back - I EVEN OFFERED TO PAY. They told me, why don't you fix it like you fix everything else? YOU CAN'T FIX THE ABSENCE OF A SENTIMENTAL OBJECT.

THIS PLACE IS A NIGHTMARE. U-TURN, U-TURN YOUR ### THE HELL AWAY FROM THIS WOLF IN SHEEP'S CLOTHING.
