U-Save Car & Truck Rental / U-Save Auto Rental of America rental/insurance

Beware renters in particular for persons outside usa. U save does not honor insurance coverage provided by credit cards outside usa and I rented at avis a few days after the u save rental and they accept the insurance. I believe u save is the only one that does not and this ends up costing over $15 per day.
They also add in surcharges of sorts and my expedia invoice stated the rental would cost $20.15 for the day and it ended up costing me $50.14 including about $15 in insurance and the difference in surcharges.
Never again...

U-Save Car & Truck Rental / U-Save Auto Rental of America car rental deposit not return over 2 months

I rented a U-Save small car through Expedia web site. April 1-3, 2019. Reservation number NEXP48F702. When I pickup the car, I was told there is a $19.99 insurance is mandatory to buy which is not said in the web site. And $200.0 deposit will be charged to my credit card.

When I returned the car April 3, 2019 I was told the deposit will be returned in 7 days. but I didn't find it is my credit card over 1 month. So I started to call them.

May 7 I send email and get the respond from their accountant department asking to fill a ACH form which request our banking information and account number to deposit the money back to my account. but it still nothing coming in.

Jun 6, called email back and forth about this issue. Got an email said " I will let you know. " Still not refund. I don't know what is wrong with them.

Jun 12, I called again 1-800-272-8728 got an answer said: " I will forward your request to someone".

U-Save Car & Truck Rental / U-Save Auto Rental of America $400 deposit not disclosed, fraudulent company

Worst car rental agency ever. I'm 26 and prepaid my car rental in LA on my credit card.I expected to pay around $150 for a deposit although I purchased extra insurance so they have no liability. When I picked up the car they said it was $400. This was NOT disclosed. I didn't have enough on my credit limit and they refused to let my mom put on her credit card by phone. They refused to accept a debit card. In the end I had to walk away and lose my prepaid car and go to Hertz to rent costing me over $100 and 2 hours of time. They were rude and when I wrote to Customer Service I kept getting the same automated response.i will never rent from this fraudulent company again.

U-Save Car & Truck Rental / U-Save Auto Rental of America Car rental scam

We rented a car thru Orbitz from a Rental Car company (U Save) in Montego Bay Jamaica. When we arrived at the airport the shuttle service was late. Eventually, the driver appeared wearing a shirt with the logo of Ucal's Car Rental. We rented from Ucal's years ago on a previous visit to Jamaica. Neither my husband or I could remember what the discrepancy was why we stopped renting from the company. Turns out it's the same establishment under a different name (huh seems strange); but we proceeded with the rental because the rate was very low. Of course if you've visited Jamaica before, we all know the roads in Jamaica are not the best so when we got a flat my husband put the spare on. Which by the way, was Armor All to a new shine (we thought nothing of it at the time). Took the flat tire and had it patched and placed back on the vehicle. Once we returned the car, it was immediately recognized the armor all spare tire was no longer shiny. The owner Ucal ordered the car jacked up and the tire removed. He proceeded to inform us, that the tire has an inner bulge on the tire which he now charged us an additional $160 for.
It all came rushing back like a bolt of lightning, the last time we rented he padded our bill with some trumped up additional fees. There was initially a drywall screw and poorly painted bumper job he stuck us with as damages. He charged us additionally for bumper damages which we disputed on our credit card. The owner cares nothing about customer server and is very arrogant.
Rent from Reputable Rent-a-Car Agencies. STAY CLEAR OF UCAL's or U SAVE, doesn't matter what you choose to rename your business; it should be called what it is SCAM- Rental-car.

I took my vehicle to U-SAVE AUTO RENTAL located at SCOTT TOWN AUTO in BLOOMSBURG, PA. The owner of the car lot was very unprofessional. He was very rude and disrespectful to me. He lied to me and told me there were things wrong with my vehicle that were untrue. I took my vehicle to an auto repair shop for a second opinion. I explained to them what the owner of SCOTT TOWN AUTO said was wrong with my vehicle. Two mechanics looked at my vehicle and said they didn’t know what he (the owner of SCOTT TOWN AUTO) was talking about. My suspicions were confirmed. The things he told me that were wrong with my vehicle were false and untrue. He is a used car dealer (and auto rental). When buying a used car, you have to be able to know that you can trust the dealership. I’m filing this complaint to warn the public that this man is NOT TO BE TRUSTED!

U-Save Car & Truck Rental / U-Save Auto Rental of America Illegal tags - Horrible Service - Crappy wrecked car

Reserved a full sized car online for 10 day trip tover Memorial weekend to visit elderly mom in small town 40 miles from Orlando. They tried to make me pay $8.95 a day for "loss of use" insurance - even called my Ohio insurance agent to see if my policy covers. Agent advised this is a scam - no policy covers this - large rental agencies don't even try to recoup legally. I had to argue and sign a waiver to rent without this "coverage". Car they gave me was totall piece of sh___ - had been wrecked - front bumper scrapped and hanging crooked, side light cover gone, AC barely cooled - but I was in a hurry and tired of aguing. Had car 3 days - got parking ticket - cop ran the plate and left note on ticket that plates were expired and the 06/11 renewal sticker did not match the plate! I call the location I rented from - they will do nothing unless I drive an ILLEGALLY tagged vehicle back to them! I called Hwy Patrol - they said if I got stopped I would be PERSONALLY ticketed for expired tags. USave still would not do anything. I spent 6 hours next day driving this crappy 2007 Dodge back to them - getting shuttle to airport - renting another car and driving back to mom's. They lied and said people steal the decals - since the decal was current showing June 2011 this makes not sense - especially since officer said this decal did not match the plates. They are playing switchy switchy with the decals so they don't have to renew plates. BEWARE! Pay a little more and use one of the big guys. Oh yes counter staff act like they are part of the Russian mob.

U-Save Car & Truck Rental / U-Save Auto Rental of America Fraudulent Practices

I'm writing to make you aware of the horrible service I received from the Orlando, FL airport location on July 21st. I had made a reservation weeks ago on 6/28/10 for 7/21 thru 7/26. I received a reminder the night before my trip never indicating a problem. I got to the Orlando Airport as scheduled at 10PM and went to the shuttle stop to wait for the shuttle. We waited 30 minutes and no shuttles ever came. I finally called the office and was told that they had no cars available. I informed the person I spoke to that I had made a prior reservation. He told me that didn't matter people decided to keep their cars longer and I would just have to find someone else to rent a car from. Now first of all if I hadn't decided to call. I would have been waiting there for who knows how long with no one bothering to notify me of the problem. Secondly, if you know you have a reservation scheduled that you need a car fulfill why do you allow people to keep the cars for longer. They should be told the car was promised to someone else. What is the point of taking reservations if you don't honor them. I had to go through the airport at 11 o'clock at night trying to find an available car and then had to pay $200.00 more than the quote I was given.

U-Save Car & Truck Rental / U-Save Auto Rental of America I strongly discourage use of U-Save in Orlando

I had a confirmed reservation for U-Save Car Rental (Orlando International Airport location). After some run around getting a shuttle from the airport to their offsite rental locations, the shuttle dumped me off at another rental car company without telling me what was going on. What was going on was that U-Save didn’t have a car for me even though I had a confirmed reservation and didn’t even bother to tell me what was going on. The rental car company where they dumped me off also didn’t have a car (U-Save didn’t even call them ahead of time). I had to find another rental car agency to rent a car. I strongly discourage use of U-Save in Orlando!

This place is a total rip off. They charged me $50.00 because they claimed the interior was "substantially dirtier then 1st rented" Here is a picture of the floorboard with a bit of sand. First he threatened to charge me for a tire that indicated low on air. I laughed until he said he would charge me for sand on the floorboards. Then when I showed my disdain, and offered to take it to a gas station to clean it, he laughed, walked away, turned around and gave the finger to my daughter! These people are Heathens!

U-Save Car & Truck Rental / U-Save Auto Rental of America Worst Customer Service and rental ever!

I booked a rental online for $101, but when I got there it went up to $148. This place is a rip-off! I have always used Thrify Car Rental, but my husband wanted to use U-Save because of the online rental price. I was against it from the start. I should have listened to my gut feeling. When I got there I was asked if I wanted to purchase their insurance, I said no thank you. I was then told I had to purchase their insurance or pay a $250 deductible. Now because we have full coverage on our cars we usually don't purchase the additional insurance offered by the car rental places. I told the desk person this at U-Save but he told me I still had to buy their insurance! So against my wishes I purchased their insurance. Now to the car we were given. It was Chevy Aveo. This was the worst rental car I ever rode in. The engine light kept comimg on, the trunk was hard to open, the rode like it needed an alignment BAD, it did not ride smooth at all. The car ran like it was ready for the junk pile. I wouldn't trust to drive their cars to the beach either. My advice to any one who is considering renting from U-Save, rent from Thrifty or Enterprise. Oh don't let me forget to tell you that U-Save will charge you an additional $75 if they have to do more than a light vacuuming of your rental after its return. The problem I have with this is, what do they consider as a light vacuuming? So what you are forced to do is get their car cleaned before you take it back. They gave me a measly 10% VIP coupon for my next rental from them! That won't happen! One more thing, online it has rental location GSP, but you have to dial customer service from the airport for a shuttle to the rental location. These were to lazy to come and pick me up so I had to catch my ride to GSP and have them take me to U-Save's location! Like I said, worst rental experience ever!

U-Save Car & Truck Rental / U-Save Auto Rental of America Blaming customer for employee mistakes

I rented a car in April 2008 for an 11 day vacation. On day 2 the break fluid light came on. When I called the company they graciously swapped it out for a van and I was off on my way. In June I received a toll violation for running a toll in the car I had traded in. My best guess is it was the employee taking it for repairs that committed the crime. When the swapped out the car they did not update my rental agreement to show the van. They refused to help me even though I knew the name of the employee that swapped out the car and the employee that checked in the van. The owner Jeff even went so far as to say to me on the phone "too bad, unless I had a picture of the van license plate he was not going to do anything”. So I guess the customer is responsible for paperwork errors and toll violations made by their employees. I would not recommend that anyone rent from them.

We recently rented a car from Lakeland Florida for the March Break. During our holiday, our airline (Direct Air) went out of business and we needed to make alternate plans to get home. Anyone who has ever travelled during March Break knows how difficult it is to get a flight. Due to the circumstances, flights were going like hotcakes. We needed to act fast. Being unable to speak with anyone in Lakeland, due to the high demand of calls, I checked to see if Fort Lauderdale had a U-Save. There was one so I figured we would have to pay a penalty, but under the circumstances I didn't see much of a choice, so we grabbed the flights. When we finally got through to Lakeland the following day, we were told the penalty for dropping it off in Fort Lauderdale, rather than Lakeland would be $1000.00! The website had stated that "we are in this together" and they were offering " great customer service". I beg to differ! Rather than pay the $1000.00 we opted to drive 3 1/2 hrs to return it and then rent a car from HERTZ, who was VERY ACCOMODATING and drive another 3 1/2 hrs back to Fort Lauderdale. Save yourself the hassles and rent from a reputable company with pleasant and compassionate customer service.

U-Save Car & Truck Rental / U-Save Auto Rental of America U-save holds me financially

U-Save Auto Rental of 25 Havard Avenue charged me more than $1, 300 for minor damage to the hood and windshield of a 2007 Toyota Corolla that apparently occurred on U-Save's own unfenced and insecure lot at 25 Harvard Ave. in Allston, MA. I dispute their claim that the damage occurred while I was financially responsible, but the franchise evaded my questions for several months and proceeded to charge the full sum to my credit card.

I rented a 2007 Toyota Corolla at 8:02 am on Saturday, 2/2/08. I returned it the same night at approximately 11pm, following U-Save's after hours drop-off procedures. The car was in the same condition I received it in; there was no new damage anywhere on the car, including the hood or windshield.

U-Save paperwork confirms that the car was processed at 7:50am on 2/3/08. U-Save made no effort to contact me to report any damage to the vehicle on Sunday, 2/3/08. The U-Save branch at 25 Harvard Ave. has posted hours of 7am to 5pm on Sundays, and employees confirmed that it was open during those hours on Sunday 2/3/08. U-Save had several ways to contact me, including by phone and email.

On the morning of Monday 2/4/08 (approximately 36 hours after I returned the vehicle and 24 hours after my contract/liability expired), I received the first contact from U-Save related to the claim that the vehicle had been damaged. The caller specified that the car's windshield and hood had been smashed in and claimed that the damage happened while I was financially responsible (presumably between 11pm on 2/2/08 and 7:50am on 2/3/08).

I immediately went to the office at 25 Harvard Ave. to verify the damage. Neither of the employees I spoke with had been in the office on 2/3/08, when U-Save claims the damage was discovered. When I asked to speak with the employees that allegedly discovered the damage, I was told that those employees "don't have phones, and they're not scheduled until Wednesday." This was followed by the oblique threat that "the charges are going to be steeper if you don't cooperate." I asked why I was not notified immediately when the damage was discovered. U-Save's response was that "mistakes happen."

The "Addendum to Rental Agreement" that I signed states that:

"The renter hereby agrees that they are financially responsible for the rental vehicle until U-Save personnel physically check in the vehicle during its normal business hours."

If the damage existed when U-Save physically checked in the vehicle at 7:50am on Sunday, 2/3/08, U-Save had a responsibility to inform me immediately. Their further evasion of my questions when I arrived at their office and failure to make accessible to me the employees they claim discovered the damage undermine their claim.

It took 2 months of concerted effort to get U-Save to respond to my basic inquiries asking for proof of when the damage occurred and why I was not promptly notified. You may save $15 or $20 when you rent with them, but be aware that you risk being charged an EXORBITANT sum. I would have been happy to pay for damage for which I was responsible, but this happened on their property--and who knows when?

I wouldn't have posted this had they handled things differently.

U-Save Car & Truck Rental / U-Save Auto Rental of America service

WE ARRIVED AT TAMPA AIRPORT AT 3:15 PM, PICKED UP THE U-SAVE PHONE AT BAGGAGE CLAIM TO CALL FOR THE SHUTTLE TO U-SAVE PARKING LOT. AFTER THREE CALLS AND 50 MIN LATER WE WERE PICKED UP. THEY GAVE US A FAIRLY NEW PONTIAC GRAND PRIX WITH 15, 000 MILES ON IT.
AFTER DRIVING FOR 45 MIN WE STOPED AT OUR DESTINATION FOR 1/2 HOUR. UPON RETURNING TO OUR CAR TO GO ON TO OUR NEXT DESTINATION THE CAR WAS COMPLETELY DEAD. WE COULD NOT EVEN GET INTO THE TRUNK BECAUSE IT HAD NO KEY SLOT IN THE TRUNK LID AREA. IT WAS LIKE SOMEONE TOOK OUT THE BATTERY. AFTER 4 CALLS BACK TO THE RENTAL LOT AND 1HOUR LATER, THEY TOLD ME THAT I WOULD HAVE TO TAKE A TAXI 30 MIN BACK TO THE LOT FOR ANOTHER CAR, BUT THEY WOULD REIMBURSE ME FOR THE CAB FARE. I PULLED DOWN THE BACK SEAT AND REACHED THRUOGH TO PULL OUT MY SUITCASES BECAUSE THERE WAS A TOW TRUCK COMING TO TAKE THE CAR AWAY. A HOUR AND 30 MIN I WAS BACK AT MY DESTINATION WITH AN OTHER CAR. IT LITERALLY TOOK FOUR HOURS OUT OF MY DAY TO SCREW AROUND WITH RENTING A CAR FROM U-SAVE. AFTERWARDS I FOUND OUT I WAS NOT THE ONLY ONE TO BE LEFT STRANDED WITH THAT CAR. I DON'T RECOMMEND USING U-SAVE FROM THE TAMPA AIRPORT.

I had a great experience there. But just like with own personal cars, things happen during rentals. Just like things happen with airlines. I have rented their several times and have been satisifed each time.

they cheat me on my gas and charge me extra for the same level of gas that i return. dont rent there car bad costumer service

U-Save Car & Truck Rental / U-Save Auto Rental of America Scam and cheating!

I am very disappointed about USAVE CAR RENTALS. The Corolla we rented at USAVE had flat tire on the high way. The Agency requires us to take full responsibility for the tire. They said that we either have to pay for them to repair the tire or we have to replace a brand new tire for the car. We call the customer service to complaint and they told exactly the same way as the representative at the Agency in Orlando, and the representative at the customer service abruptly hang up the phone while I was talking. What happened if a car accident happened because of that flat tire on high way. This is very bad experience to me. So be careful when renting a car and make sure to read their policy before renting it. I am very disappointed about the quality of the service at USAVE Car Rentals.

I rented a vehicle through Priceline with U-Save for pick-up in Fort Lauderdale for a great price until I arrived at the rental location. From just over $100.00 I ended up paying $341.00 because I did not have 500K in liability insurance which few people have. Recommended limits for bodily injury liability coverage. The Insurance Information Institute (III) and other insurance industry experts recommend bodily injury liability coverage of $100,000 per person and $300,000 per accident (referred to as 100/300 coverage).

They have you stuck because you have no choice, but to pay up. Absolute scam. Priceline needs to do something about having them on their site. What a joke.

USave is EXTREMELY pushy about obtaining the insurance for rentals. We picked up our car at night so wouldn't see a tiny scratch on side bumper so of course pointed it out to us upon drop-off & had us fill out accident report to fix scratch. That car wasn't worth fixing small scratch, it drove like a truck & was not the quality of a different car that we had requested. This is a scam for insurance co.

U-save ripped me off for $457. I rented online and when I got there they wanted over $800.00 more. I did not have the extra cash and they refused to give me my money back. I reserved online and within five hours I went to Myrtle Beach airport in SC to pick up the vehicle. The lady at the desk at first appeared like she wanted to help and VERY shortly afterward became very NASTY. I was renting a van to go to see my son graduate from the military. I never got the van or my money back. At first they said that there was a $50 penalty for cancelling. Shortly afterward, they said that I couldn't get nothing back. So I walked away with NOTHING, but $457.00 short.

In a nut shell this is what happened with this low class car rental franchise. Arrived at on a flight that was 1hr and 32mins late. Agent at U-save would not honor the reservation at the reserved price per day. Agent said "when you didn't show up on time we rented that car" and went on to say "but we do have a similar car available at about 20 dollars more a day" . Amazing but true, we decided to go ahead with the rental because they were the only game in town. One way to avoid this is take a cab to a near by above board car rental agency to rent a car or just fly in to Orlando instead. After reading other reviews about this particular franchise location, I see that we were not their first victim. If you do rent from them, be sure to read all the fine print with this company so they don t do the same thing to you as they did to us. Bottom line is that the rental costs us 147.00 more than agreed on.

We recently rented a car from USAVE at the Lakeland FLorida airport. At the time of rental we had no other choice. they gave us a MD SIZED-Nissan Versa! It was crappy. We were told $300 for 10 days then when they billed us it was over $400 AND and extra $50 for a missing antennae! WTH? cars don't have antennaes anymore! The girl at the head office would not listen to my complaint and said I had to call Lakeland on my dime! SCAM! at least now we can us Hertz at that airport.

USave is a lousy rental company. I made a reservation online and was givin a price of $160.00 for 5 days at
Myrtle Beach. They wanted one hundred dollars down and that had to come off your credit card. I did not mind
to swipe my card for security but I wanted to pay cash for the transaction, they would not let us pay in cash. Our
bill was not 160 it had went to 305 due to the fact they made us take an insurance which other rental car places
ask but do not force. Online there was no extra charge for booster seat but when we got the bill we were charged
50 dollars. We should have just declined their service right there but we were on vacation and just got the key
and went on even though they took an extra $140 out of our vacation fund. Then we returned the car and went to pay the bill and the exact same woman who took care of us on day one would not let us pay in cash--she said
we should have paid in cash to start. You do not save any money with this company and they are low on the pole when it comes to service, do not even waste your time checking them out-- They are a SCAM.
