2/13/2007 -2/19/2007 debit withdrawals on banking statement that are unauthorized for unknown services. How did this company get access to my account number and get this authorized. I am currently unemployed and I need my money to survive. This is totally unacceptable!

Out of my own stupidity, I haven't checked my bank statements for some time and then I started seeing discrepancies when I went to the ATM and got receipts for balances. Needless to say for 11 months this aol has been ripping me off 23.90 per month and I've never had AOL. Not only that my ISP is peoplepc.com and they've been double billing me since 3/06, which they deny, but I have my statements to prove them wrong. What legal action can be taken to stop these companies and for people to get reimbursed for their losses? Advise smb!

I have the same problem as many others I see here with AOL charges on my credit card. I see a definite pattern here. I'm wondering what to do next. Foolish as it may sound, I gave an AOL billing rep. my credit card info over the phone, to receive the user name and password of the mysterious account I'd just become aware of, in order to hopefully gain access to cancel. Hope it works better for me than others I'm reading about. I also would like total refunding. It would make sense that if they had seen no activity on that account during the 13 months in question, they would have to reimburse me. Or am I just dreaming?
Thanks for your input,
Brad

Every month I am getting a bank debit for AOL service. I do not have or use AOL. I have never given my banking information to AOL. My service provider is Time Warner Cable. All I can figure out is that AOL got my banking information from Time Warner Cable. That act has got to be illegal. It does no good to call AOL. All you get is a run around. The authorities should investigate AOL and stop their fraudulent practices.

I gave notice in October to quit AOL for November 1. Three months were left on my yearly contract and I asked for a return.

I had to call numerous times. I was put on hold, cut off, and given the run around. Finally they gave back $29.90. This is a joke. They told me they had a cancellation fee and that's all I was due.

Someone should look into their business practices and they should be fined.

My wallet was stolen I immediately canceled credit cards. AOL then abruptly canceled my account. Before I was sent a replacement, AOL sent me a notice canceling service.

Other companies have mailed notices informing me of the need to supply a new credit card account number, while at the same time they continue service.

Bad manners at AOL.

There is no help at "Live Help." It seems they either have a book with standard responses or have them in memory.

They absolutely refuse to help with or admit to problems on their end.

I just spent four days trying to resolve a specific problem with their Easy Designer area for web pages.

Do not use AOL. They may be the biggest -- but there is no customer service.

If you are fed up with the piss poor customer service of AOL go to the 'Federal trade Commission' website and file a formal complaint. Law Enforcement agencies and Better Business bureaus throughout the United States has access to this program as well as the Security and Exchange Commission and if enough complaints are filed, the parent company will either take notice and do changes or just dissolve this piss poor company

AOL has the most piss poor service anywhere. Overnight they just decide to cancel my access and account without notification or reason.. Then when I try to contact their so called customer service it was like talking to a clown in a circus--they had more excuses they Reagan had jelly beans. I would not recommend AOL what any reason. I hope and pray they go belly up permanently

I am seriously considering dropping AOL due to the offensive way they present the ads. It is difficult to read your emails, etc with things flashing before your eyes constantly. I don't pay to be harrassed by advertisers constantly. They have shortened the email pages so much, it is impossible to see pictures from friends etc - you have to keep scrolling down to see from head to chin.

I have cancelled my contract with AOL approx 6 months ago as we were moving home.
I have phone, emailed and written to them but they are still
drawing £9.99 per month on my credit card.
I have been given a cancellation no. but it made no difference. The bank say they cannot cancel the charges. Even if I cancel the card and take out another the charge will just be transferred. How the hell do we get rid of AOL!

I just noticed on my credit card that AOL TWX Service [protected] NY has been charging me $25.90 monthly for July, June, and May 2007. I don't know what this payment is supposed to represent, but I need to find out why I am being charged when I am no longer an AOL customer.

I would like to strongly disagree with you both, there is no company who'd I'd rather pay twice for Internet service than America Out Loud. For my double payment for one connection, there's nothing like the Trickle Down Jelly Bean experience of Ronald Reagan's economic administration either...sorry lost my train of thought for a second, I mean I have immense pride in working 25 years as Customer Service Regional Manager at AOL. Douglas, would you be willing to participate in a short survey regarding your experience with our services? You will be automatically entered to win half-price internet for one year after signing up for a two year double-price AOL contract. That's double the internet for a single price. If you have further questions please contact me, AOL is committed to knowing what time it is at your home currently and comple

WE HAVE BEEN LOYAL TO AOL FOR A GREAT MANY A YEARS. WE HAVE HAD A PROBLEM WITH SENDING AND RECEIVING E-MAILS NOW FOR NEARLY THREE WEEKS. I SPOKE WITH A GENTLEMAN NAMED JOHN, A SUPERVISOR HE SAID IN INDIA. HE TOLD ME HE WOULD CALL ME BACK IN 24 HOURS WITH A SIX DIGIT CODE. TODAY BEING SEPT 15, 2012 NOW BEING 930 pm NEW YORK TIME, IT HAS BEN A ROLLER COASTER RIDE WITH THESE LIARS. THEY SEND YOU TO ANOTHER FLOOR MANAGER BEN (A FLOOR SUPERVISOR) AND HE IN TURNS SAYS THAT JOHN WILL HELP YOU. IN FACT JOHN DON'T WANT TO BE BOTHERED WITH YOU. THE USA OF A NEEDS TO BRING THESE JOBS HOME TO OUR PEOPLE HERE. THEY SIT AND WANT TO PLAY GAMES WITH YOU AND LAUGH. AFTER ALL, HOW LONG SHOULD IT TAKE TO GET A SIX DIGIT CODE TO CROSS REFERENCE COMPUTERS. NOW I WOULD NOT EVEN ALLOW OR TRUST THESE IDIOTS AFTER BEING LIED TOO SO MANY TIMES. AOL CUSTOMERS, WISE UP AND STOP USING AOL. THEY WILL ONLY SPEAK WITH YOU IF YOU TALK THEIR TALK, MONEY. THEY ARE LIARS AND THEY ARE CHEATS., AS I GOT TO SEE IT FOR MYSELF. THEY ARE LAZY NOT TO BE TRUSTED ANY LONGER. KISS OFF AOL!

Stop fraudulent business in CT

I just sent letters of complaint to CT BBB and Synapse Group, Inc another name for TWX Magazines. I'd like to know what criteria CT BBB used to rate Synapse Group/TWX with an A+ rating as a business. I also want to know how TWX obtained access to my account and if 3rd party is involved, who the 3rd party was. I never signed up for magazines. I began to get a slew of magazines after I moved to a different state. I checked my bank statements over the past three years, responded to the number offered to TWX Maganzines and tried to cancel out via the number yet the magazines kept comin and the charges continued to be withdrawn. I've called, written, and complained to Synapse Group to stop TWX from withdrawing money from my account. I requested CT BBB to investigate the company (companies) involved. Trickinery is no way to do business. But even more, withdrawing money as a business through unauthorized or 3rd party means is illegal. The secret service is the next step to stop credit card theft nd bank card thef of my monies. That's the route I'm going. If that does not work, an attorney is worth the cost of satisfaction with the idea of being not only reimbursed but stimulating a class action suit filed against the state of CT BBB, the State Attorney General's Office in CT, Synapse Group Inc, and TWX Magazines. This might even be considered conspiracy to defraud by the CT government and business bureau as well as TWX since no one has done anything to stop the unauthorized or 3rd party credit card/debit cad access. Access to my account by this company has become a permanent annual withdrawal that I don't seem able to stop from my end and I've done a lot to try to stop it. I need some help from above.

I canceled my paid AOL and now have free AOL. Unfortunately, this means I have no way to cancel or delete my account that is sending out spam emails on a regular basis without paying. Can't even change the password without paying. AOL service sucks.

As far as I know, Pogo is not affiliated with AOL at all. I know you used to be able to play using your AOL screenname but that's all. There are still some free games available but most are now part of ClubPogo. I pay $39.99/year for my membership.

Your first mistake was using AOL. You do realize this is 2011 and AOL isn't an ISP (internet service provider). They are a Internet Services and Media company.

This means that they are paying someone else to provide you with internet access, and as of 2009 they are no longer associated with Time Warner which means they don't have the service support they used to.

If you checked the PPM box then you are legally bound to pay for the charges and since AOL has to pay out to another company for the usage it is not like they are in a position to refund money they had to pay to someone else.

Now stop using AOL and sign up with a proper ISP.

On 12/06/2009, a "debit purchase" from TWX AOL SERVICE was charged to my checking account in the amount of $51.80. This is not a withdrawal I authorized or a purchase I made. I have never been a paying customer of AOL.

AOL continued to bill me for almost a year after cancelling them. I would call and go through a couple hour hassle being passed from one clown to the next until finally they would say that they were sorry and wouldn't bill me again. A couple months later, they slip in a charge again. This went on a couple times before I had my bank cancel that card just so they couldn't bill it anymore.

I've noticed this:
It takes 5 minutes for them to sign you up and get you going.
It takes so long to cancel that you are tempted to 'give up' throughout the process. This is what they hope for.

You're not going to get anywhere with filing a complaint against AOL for any reason. You're wasting your time. There are a thousand ways to contact AOL - the easiest way is to chat live with an agent when you are online. AOL is a giant with endless resources. Get over yourself because you are nothing in their eyes and the FTC has more important things to do like chase down real problems, not someone who is upset with a customer service issue. If you don't know this already, learn it now.

I work at a bank and I see these charges all the time. If it is something you DID NOT authorize, go to the bank and put a dispute through. It takes a little bit of time for them to investigate, but it doesn't hurt to put it through. If the charges overdraw your account and you get charges, alot of times with the dispute you can get those charges back as well. I doubt you will get through to aol or whatever this fraud is, but if your bank goes for you, it will be easier for you.

Over here in America we have many TV news stations that do Investigations on behalf of customers & consumers. Maybe over in England you can contact the media and get them a lot of BAD PUBLICITY. If you can't do that, them go on facebook and start a facebook page dedicated to people who are mad at AOL. Get creative, get even, good luck. With all the resources available on the internet these days, maybe you can enlist other people in your cause. Try writing to your local newspaper --letters to the editor and ask for suggestions from the readers of the newspaper & give them your email address in your letter. I for one, am like a dog with a bone & if someone does me wrong, I get in their face until they do the right thing.
I also do not suffer fools gladly. I wish you good luck & success.
