Twohigs Worldwide Holidays / No refund for holiday to mexico
Just wondering if you've had similar stories from other Irish holiday makers, we booked our Honeymoon to New York and Mexico the day before the swine flu outbreak, we paid a €2000 deposit, and although the WHO and the DFA have advised that non essential travel to Mexico be cancelled, we can't get our money back. Our travel agent TWOHIGS has advised us that we can't change our flights or destination without losing our money. We're getting married in 3 weeks, and although the press coverage about swine flu seems to have died down, we visited our local tropical disease advice centre yesterday and were advised not to travel to USA or Mexico. We're a young couple struggling to pay for our wedding, we can't afford to lose our €2000. We were told that USA has now over taken Mexico with numbers of confirmed cases of the virus. Our travel agent is a well known luxury long haul travel agent TWOHIGS, we're shocked and can't believe that our only options are to either go against the advice from the government or lose our money. Twohigs has told us that until the DFA issue a statement that says we cannot travel, that the flights won't be cancelled, so therefore they won't get their money back and we won't get ours back. We're flying with Continental . We've also found out that our travel insurance would be invalid if we travel to Mexico against the advice of the DFA, which means if we did get ill in Mexico we'd have no health insurance. We don't know where to turn at this point. Twohigs just keep talking to us about Continental, but we didn't pay our money to Continental, we paid it to Twohigs.
