TV Center — False Advertising/Scamming
I was happy to have ordered a TV i was looking for, at a good price. I called the warehouse ([protected]) several hours after placing the order, to make sure everything was OK. I also wanted to find out if they were an authorized dealer of this LG TV, since this model is listed on BestBuy.ca as a "BestBuy exclusive" and i was worried about warranty issues. I was told by a quick-talking, slimy sounding salesman, that that is just a marketing ploy by BestBuy. He said he would like to cancel my order and deliver the TV to me and have me pay him right at the spot, because via PayPal, they "can lose the money and the TV too.". I had no idea what on earth he meant. Then I asked if the TV was a brand new, factory sealed item. He said "That TV? Ummm Yes...ummm...its open box that one...". I asked why that was not indicated on the website...he said it does not have to be indicated. I argued, saying that was illegal. He said he did not have to indicate anything on the website. I said, "So you can just sell anything, then? Refurbished, Open Box, Broken, etc?" He said that that is correct. He kept arguing with me and I eventually asked if he was nuts, after which he hung up and I disputed the transaction on PayPal. I guess I will see if they return the money without problems.
