I purchased a tru tech tv in October 2006. The tv has broke in 6 months. I am very upset with target and trutech. I will not shop at target anymore. I don't believe i can get my money back because of other complaints i have read. I just wanted to say this is very bad for business saying target is where all the rich folks go. Ha ha.

Purchased two 19" TVs with DVD players December 20, 2008. Both TVs went DEAD within the same weekend, almost a year to the date when we bought them. Can't find a legitimate customer service number to call anyone, and Target will not have ANYTHING to do with this faulty issue. Every website online that we could find for TruTec was COMPLAINTS on them dying within two years or less. Even with a lower priced electronic, this is unacceptable. A recall needs to be issued on these TVs immediately.

Bought your Tv at Target on sale one year later the screen comes on just for a few seconds then screen goes black. You still have sound and can change the channel but the screen doesn't appear again. I would like the company to contact me.

This a piece # junk, I will never shop at Target again because of the quality I got when I purchased Trutech tv. Service is bad when needing things repaired on these televisions. Power down several times because it would not turn on, than out of the blue it started it, this tv has it own mind.

I purchased a 17 inch +DVD, it died after about 7 months I sent it to trutech and they sent me a repacement, I know it was not the one I sent to be fixed because my grandaughter scrached mine, and this one has no scrache. Well it's not about a year later and this one died ! I just bought a new tv for the kitchen, you better belive it is not a TRUTECH! Happy cooking and baking with a new TV, that is not a Tru Tech!

I got a true tech tv cause my mom was going to throw it away. me and my roomate plugged in the tv and it made a bunch of weird flashing and grunting noises and started making low pitched sounds. The funniest part of the story is the kitten started walking around in circles then must have been brown noise had to evict the cat for a while and air out the house. Original plan was o take it out for target pratice now i highly recommend this tv if you want your whole house to stink lol.

I purchased Trutech Dual Screen Portable DVD player back in Feb 09. It worked great for about 4 months and then just stopped working. I called a few local repair shops and all of them said it was too hard to get replacement parts for the Trutech brand. I called Target Customer Service [protected] and spoke with one of the supervisors there who was actually very friendly and helpful. She gave me a reference # to take to my local store for a refund of the current price. It is currently about $20.00 less than what I paid but I am thrilled! Hope this is helpful to someone.

We bought a TruTech TV/DVD for our daughter's dorm room, she hardly used it and in less than a year the piece of you know what died. No red light, no power, nothing! I am surprised that TruTech can get away with ripping people off like this. If we did this we would wind up in the nearest jail cell for deceiving the public and for fraudulent merchandise! They should be recalled and we should be entitled to a refund.

oh well, i guess i should put my two cents worth in. i just picked up my first trutech television today. it is the t2000-d model with the built in dvd player. it was made in February, 2006. as of yet i haven`t tried watching television stations over the air . i`ve just been watching a dvd which seems to play alright so far, although i`ve put in only one, namely "the bear". it is not a flat screen and only has an analog tuner. i`m sure glad i found this website as i had left the house with the dvd playing. i found this television in amongst a mountain of junked ones after the rain subsided today. after readin most of the complaints, i can`t believe this thing actually works! thankx for reading, yo pal, vinnyval

I was dumb enough to buy three of these things, two of which went wierd just after the return time ran out. Must give credit, one still works fine so far, a year later. Even though they are low-end, Target should make some kind of adjustment for the problem, as they do represent Target. Trying to get any kind of service was a joke.
Target should stop selling these, there might be more like me out here. Or, maybe that's why they still sell them.

I acutally like the TruTech TV, however, the sound went out on two channels. The picture is nice and crisp and I wish I could have the sound fixed.

I've read most of these posts, and like most, I wish I'd done so before the purchase. Lesson learned. I agree these TVs are "cheaper" than others, but they are still not CHEAP & shouldn't be this bad. They should be recalled.

I have a TruTech TV that now turns off automatically after a few minutes and will not turn back on unless I unplug it and replug it back in. But it turns off again after a few minutes so the cycle continues. I saw another post similar to mines so I know this is far from an isolated incident. I emailed Alco Customer service about it... lets see what happens (or doesn't).

I also am one of the dissatisfied customers who bought a Trutech 26 " TV and a 16" TV with a DVD player built in. Both of them have quit working. I am most upset about the 26" TV. It cost $799 on sale and quit working in one and one-half years. I have tried serveral repair shops and most people have never heard of them or will not touch them. The last repair shop that I carried it to has been trying for a couple of months to get a mother board (I think that is what he said), but unfortunately he has not been able to find the part and has called me to come pick it up. I personally think something should be done about. The TV looks as good as it did the day I purchased it and I really hate to throw that away. Does anyone have any suggestions? I have learned my lesson and will never buy an off brand electronic again...

YIKES! I just purchased a TRUTECH 13inch TV from one of my favorite stores- TARGET. But you guys are worrying me. I'm not even going to take me 'good deal' out of the box, and waste my time waiting for it to die. Who needs that aggravation and waste of money?
I'm going to return it and keep looking for a decent brand on sale.

I will, however, keep my RCA DVD player. That was also a cheap one on sale ($34). Does anyone know how that one will work out?

Thanks, everyone, for sharing!

[shrug] I've had mine for two years and it works great. The only problem I have is that I don't get channels 65-99. But I really dont mind to much. I think it's really the package I have for my tv. But I'm sorry all of yours suck. Mines been fine and I watch it everyday.

I am an independent service center. How often I hear when I offer a reasonable service price to repair a older product that will outlast 3 of the newer junk coming out of China " I can get a new one at Walmart or Target fill in the blank" I say you get what you pay for, Pete

I pulled up the website, because I am in the process of bringing my Trutech TV up to date with the 2009 antenna conversion. I didn't find the brand listed for the conversion box that I need to purchase, and I thought the website would help. I was definitely taken back with the comments I have read about the Trutech TV. I purchased my 13" model over a year ago, because I wanted a DVD TV for my massage and exercise room. I play this TV every day while checking my email and working on the computer. I have not encountered any problems with this TV, neither the monitor nor the DVD. I have to admit that I am now a bit nervous about the TVs performance and only hope that I got the SWEET lemon!4a4cc

Fantastic! I purchased the 19 inch flat screen DVD combo at the end of August for my childrens room by November the DVD reads that it is open when the door is closed. BLAH! The cable never evenhooked up to it correctly and always displayed a fuzzy picture. From these reviews I guess I'm out of $279 dollars also. This really sucks as I cannot afford another TV for them. I like Target but I am very dissapointed in this. If anyone discovers a way to resolve this issue please let me know.

My wonderful trutech 19" TV/Dvd combo chops off the top and bottom of the screen and the DVD crapped out after a year. Think Target should get a few of these returned through their front windows.

I bought 2 of these TVs almost a year ago. I figured @ the great price it was worth a try. After about 6 months, one remote stop working and guess what, the month the other stop working. At this time, I was converting to directv so it was a big deal. I have bought 2 different brands of universal remotes and no one not even TARGET can give me a manufacturers name or a contact # to fix this problem

OMG! I just bought the 19 inch LCD from Target this morning and I will be taking mine back tomorrow. I haven't even taken is out of the box yet but after reading these horrible reviews I am not taking any chances.
Thank you all for warning us about the product. Target should be ashamed!

Buyer Beware... It always amazes me that shoppers just go for the lowest price, regardless of the quality of the product. Wake up people! How about doing a little research before going shopping? Would it kill ya to spend 10 minutes online looking for product reviews before you make your purchase? Same with return policies, read before you buy. An informed consumer is a smart consumer (not too many of those around).

I also had problems with Trutech TV bought from Target. Stand by light would stay on but TV would power off when you try to turn it on. Luckily, we have a good repair shop and they were able to fix it. Evidently there is a low profile capacitor in the power module that is the issue. The part is $15, but the labor was $150.00 as it took awhile to figure this out. So, its worth taking to a shop and maybe by giving this info it won't cost as much as I paid. remember - low profile capacitor as a regular one won't fit. Hope this helps.
