Before using tripmate please read the fine print. They have a million excuses nott o refund your money. I was not employeed by the same employeer for 3 yrs, so I was not entitled to a refund. Very, very, bad business company.. Just a big fat scam! Lost $600 plus $50 to get their insurance! Don't use them! You have been warned

Same for me as all the above. Buyer Beware because you won't know TripMate is the underwriter UNTIL you place a claim, because it would appear TripMate process many Travel Insurance company's claims. I did NOT buy my insurance through TripMate, however, because I couldn't travel and had to claim, it was only then I found out it was TripMate. They took 7(seven) months to pay out and ONLY because I threatened a lawsuit. They never pick up the phone, they tell you to leave your name and number and they will get back to you and they NEVER do, they say to look at the website where you will see updates on the status of your claim - this isn't true, they NEVER move forward on the claim. Now I have another claim from a different insurance company only to find out (omg) its TripMate doing the claim... sigh - why don't we all get a class action lawsuit going? How can a company like this keep in business? I hear that they process thousands successfully from one of the editors on one of these sites, however, there are probably thousands of valid claims they DON"T process successfully. But just as importantly, what is the dragged out continual delay in paying up when you have a valid, uncomplicated claim - say Cancellation Due to Illness/Injury, you have submitted all paperwork, you've gotten the doctor's form completed, you sent in Hotel invoices, Airplane ticket information, credit card payment proof etc.. and you wait, 2, 3, 4 months and they will continue to delay and they will drag it out and hope you won't fight... this just ISN"T RIGHT. Getting my payment from my first claim with them was like a full time job. I literally sent them 100's of pages of docs, sent, resent, and resent, letters, emails, phone calls .. Something should be done. I am not someone who normally leaves this kind of review but I am not only one of the abused by this company I am also someone who wants to protect others from purchasing a Travel Insurance where TripMate is the processor of claims. Buyer beware, do your homework, don't be a victim of this company.

I agree. We had Tripmate as offered by our travel company, GoWay Travel our to Vancouver Canada, for a trip to Australia in June 2011. An ash cloud disrupted travel in Western Australia and New Zealand for over 2 weeks causing serious delays in our travel and the cancellation of a portion of our trip to New Zealand. Tripmate denied most of our claim only paying a portion of our delays and no benefit for our lost payments for New Zealand. If the payment we received was normal for travel insurance I will SAVE THE MONEY and insure myself for every trip I ever take. They should be attacked by every other travel insurance company because they give them ALL a bad name! I am contacting a lawyer and depending on what the lawyer tells me I will be filing either a lawsuit or a complaint with the MO Insurance Commissioner. If your travel agent even SUGGESTS Tripmate you should move QUICKLY to ANOTHER travel agent. ANY agent that even uses this company should be avoided!

Interesting because I have submitted 2 other comments and neither came through so the above was a test. BUYER BEWARE of TRIP MATE insurance. They are nothing but fraudulent and nothing was told to both of us about pre existing conditions...in fact Elm Grove Travel stated there were none.
I sent in all my paper work as did my friend and neither of us have gotten anything but negative responses. They contacted my doc on June 1st and my appt was with their time frame, but someone did not document it on my file, a way for them to loose information. I called them today and filed claims with BBB against both and was lied to by Rajna from TM twice and was told this call is recorded but you know they can erase anything they want to make themselves look good.
I had 9 spinal surgeries and am totally disabled but am I in w/c no!Does someone disabled need to be NO! I clean, cook, shop but have to do so within my limits when I can. My pain is totally unpredictable and with 3 falls in 3 weeks my back went out and also taking care of my kitty who was slowly shutting down and passed on May 9th...from all of that my back just gave out and has not been good since. They TM sent me another MD attending statement and said they did not have to fill it out per Rajna, then when I called back to tell her the letter she said would work was coming she said she never said that and she did, another lie. They have it down they called my docs office for my past appt but guess what my doc's offfice remembers the call and yet they have no record of it another way to cash in on a scam .This is the worst company I ever worked with but if there is a class action suit I will be joining and so will my friends.
I have complained to the BBB and if I have to sue them let them pay my attorney fees and my $165. You'd think a doctor's letter would be enough. Then they have you sign a release.Well guess what they can access anything they want when you sign it! If you sign it make sure you cross out anything that does not pertain to your medical history.
This company sucks.

I also have applied for a refund and so has a friend of mine both on the same days due to physical disabilities with doctors letter.
It has been over 3 week and still nothing! This is a huge scam and if I do not get my check soon I will be contacting local stations to do a story .
They want your money right away but if you need to get it back good luck...Sparkie
