if it wasn't for my fiance i would be ### out of luck too. i almost fell for this ### too. it was a phillips 42 lcd tv from craigslist. HiI still have the TV. The TV is in perfect shape (take a look at the attached pics) and it comes with 18 months of transferable warranty. I am now in United Kingdom. I have been relocated here with my work several months ago. The TV is a US version and I think I can sell it for a better price in the US.Since I can't meet you and make the exchange, I would like to use a service that will help us with that. Please go here to see the procedure:TNT is a worldwide delivery company (like Fedex, DHL or UPS). You can see from their procedure that you will be able to check the TV before I receive the payment. If you are in a hurry, I will use 2 day delivery (shipping is on me).Let me know what you think. Thanks, Susan

On craigslist I found an apartment in a perfect area with photos and contact information in Crystal City area. When I contacted the post, the individual explained that they were going through a divorce and moved back to england so they would need a 3rd party person to take care of the contracts and keys.
It was then explained to me that in order to view the property, I needed to pay the 1st months rent that would be reimbursed if I did not like the viewing and I could send the keys back etc.
THIS IS A SCAM! The company is taking the reputation of TNT Services, a legitmate shipping and services company all over the world, and using TNT inc as their misnomer.
Please be careful, I was pretty far along in the process of emailing this guy, Chirs Smedley, before i realized what was going on. ( I should have known by the misspelling of Chris...)

I also have been sent Scam e-mails for the so called company TNT see the e-mails that have passed between us.

Dear Mark,

I work in Insurance and there would be no need for me to pay to have this money delivered to me, also why could I not pay a cheque on delivery, TNT would be covered by there Cash in Transit Insurance, and your mailing charges are extremely hign even for registered Mail?

Therefore I take it that this is a Scam, where by you are obtaing money under false pretence and i will be reporting you and TNT to the police for investigation along with the FSA.

Please do respond!

Regards

THANKS FOR USING COURIER SERVICE

Well forgive me if I am a little wary because if this is not a hoax, may be you could answer the following questions for me.
1) Why do I have to pay for you to deliver my winning upfront if I won the football pools or National Lottery they would not be asking me to pay anything?
2) Why can it not be COD?
3) Why am I paying Insurance, as stated before surely this delivery would be covered by TNT 's cash in transit insurance policy, (as I stated before I work in the London Insurance Market)
4) why would it be a parcel, and not an envelope with the cheque inside?

If you could supply suitable answers to these questions maybe I would not be so sceptical, as a distant friend of mine received something very similar to this and paid the monies required and never received anything (it was not TNT I may hasten to add)

I fell for the scam. The website was very professional complete with tracking numbers, insurance information, addresses of sender, and people responsible for sending the shipment (David Hospes). All went well until I had not heard from them after 3 days of the payment having been sent Western Union. I called the company (TNT) who informed me (in not too kindly manner, I might add, that I had been screwed and would not be receiving a laptop). Furthermore when I contacted Western Union (someone OBVIOUSLY in India or where ever) had just as cold a response, telling me that there was now way to recover my money... To everyone else. Take the words of my Grandfather... ?"Never give your money to someone unless you can look them in the eye!"

My version of trap for iphone 4 32GB for $300 craigslist... my friend saved my day and money...i googled and found this ...OMG! i was in trap all this time for an iphone 4

Hi Sanju,

I sent the iphone earlier today. The TNT clerk said that they will inspect the iphone and then send you an email notification with the instructions on what to do next. Please be sure to add customerdepartment@shiptnt.com to your contacts list (TNT said that this is very important).

Thanks.

Ok, ok, ok. This craigslist "deal" was becoming too good to be true. Here is the first response from "Seller."

Apple MacBook Pro 15" inch, INTEL i5 - $590

Hi,

The MacBook Pro is still available, but I'm currently in London, United Kingdom. Because of the financial crisis, I lost my job in United States and I had to come back to my family.
I don't need the laptop anymore so I tried to sell it locally, but with no luck. It is an US version and the warranty doesn't work here. That's why I'm trying my luck in the US.
I hope you are still interested. The laptop was bought brand new from Best Buy a 8 months ago. I have attached some pics with it to this email.
About the laptop I can say it is 8 months old and it is in good shape, no scratches, no dents as you can see from the pics I've sent. Included in the $590 price is everything the laptop came with when it was new, including the original manuals and warranty papers. The warranty is fully transferable to the new owner.
The laptop is here with me in United Kingdom.
I tried to be as thorough as I could with the presentation so you can have all the info if you decide to go ahead and buy it.
Please get back to me and let me know if you like the laptop if you're really interested in buying it.

Thanks,
Bianca Genovese

I lowballed the "Seller" and they instantly agreed on $450. That was first red flag.
Here is next response I received.

OK *** I agree for $450 US.
Well, I found a way to sell the laptop that will be safe for both of us. It's a worldwide delivery company called TNT. They have a service that will allow you to test the laptop before I receive my payment.
Please go to the TNT website below and read their procedure so we can be on the same page:

http://service-shiptnt.uk.net/express.london.depot.overseas.transactions.html

I will pay the TNT shipping fee.
If you agree to their terms please send me your name and address and I will start the delivery procedure.

Thanks,
Bianca

"Seller" offers to pay for 2 day express international shipping? Second red flag.

I almost went through with this purchase in my time of excitement. TNT emailed me invoice, but it asks you to put money transfer in someone elses name which does not sound right.
In the end, too good to be true. The storyline is almost exactly like the other ones listed. Glad I didn't complete transaction, hope you don't either.

Very well done, be careful:

Hi Oliver,

I have placed the TV in TNT's custody. The guys from TNT told me that they will send the TV to their technical department for inspection and then they will send you the delivery notification.
Well, I have received an invoice from TNT telling me that they have sent you the delivery notification to your e-mail, so you must have received it.
Look for it well in your e-mail, perhaps it has come in the bulk folder of your e-mail.
Let me know if you received anything from TNT.

Thanks,
Diane

Hi Diane,
I’m interested but I have a couple of questions:
1.) Ok, The TV is in Italy – how and for what kind of money do we get the TV back to the US. That would be something what needs to be arranged by you (Doing international Pickups with something like UPS are a little complicated and expensive and there are issues with customs as well…)
2.) Do you have the original Box (what could be used to ship safely)?
3.) How are we doing a Payment (Paypal)?

By the way: I’m a little jealous about Torino, Italy. Sometimes I miss Europe a little – I’m originally from Frankfurt, Germany…

The $400 that I lost was sent Western Union to Jayson Alexonis in Wolverhampton United Kingdom. The Western Union representative told me that they have to show photo ID to pick up the money, but I'm sure he showed a fake ID.

The craigslist ad read "Gently used ! two month old newest model FULL HD, SONY 3D 3D TV! - $660 (austin)".. pictures were sent to me via email of the 55" TV and the box to make it more believable. But I read this discussion forum. People need to be more careful before making decisions on high amounts like this. I am glad to have read this forum.

---I have attached the email discussion below---
Hi,

The TV was bought in the US.
It will come with everything it came with it as new + its original box, paperwork and receipt.
Well, I found a way to sell you the TV that will cover the both of us. It's a worldwide delivery company called TNT. They have a service that will allow you to test the TV before I receive my payment.
Please go to the TNT website below and read their procedure so we can be on the same page:

http://englandwlt-tnt.com/tnt.express.wolverhampton.depot.overseas.transactions/

I will pay the TNT shipping fee and I can use 2 day delivery if you are in a hurry.

Thanks.

Hi Arianna,

Good to hear from you. I had a few questions for you:
1) How will the TV be shipped to me?
2) Can you please include the details of what all comes inside the box?
3) Can you let me know where was the TV brought from?
4) Since you live in UK, I would like to know if it would be fine with you for me to make a payment after I receive the TV here; since this gives me an opportunity to check if the TV is in a good working condition.

Awaiting your reply.
Thank you

My name is Arianna and I am now in Wolverhampton, United Kingdom.
I am selling the TV for $650 USD. I have attached some pics so you can see the condition of the TV.
The TV is still available and I hope you are still interested. This TV was ordered brand new 2 months ago.
About the TV I can say it is 2 months old and it is in good shape, no scratches, no dents as you can see from the pics I've sent. Included in the $650 price is everything the TV came with when it was new, including the original manuals and warranty papers. The TV still has warranty for the next 22 months. The warranty is fully transferable to the new owner.
The TV is here with me in United Kingdom.
I tried to be as thorough as I could with the presentation so you can have all the info if you decide to go ahead and buy it.
I have used the TV mostly for the news and movies, so I would say it has been only lightly used.
One more thing, the TV is a US version and it works on the US power and plug system so you do not need a converter to use it in the US.

Please get back to me and let me know if you like the TV if you're really interested in buying it.

Thanks,

Hi,
Same deal just over the iMac. Even got her to give a valid serial number and a phone number.
He or She needs to be caught! ASAP

My phone number is [protected]. OK, perfect. Let's agree to the terms of our deal now.
I will sell you the imac for $600 with everything in the pictures included, I will use 2 day delivery and allow you 5 days to inspect it. Shipping is on me. Your total price will be the $600 for the imac + a fee ($60) when sending the money to TNT. So, do we have a deal? At this point I need your name and address to start the deal.

This [censor] is still running this scam. Now going by Arianna Dressel. I am so glad I found this website! I saw the post on craigslist for a Sony 55 inch LED 3D full HD TV for $850 USD and it seemed to good to be true so I emailed the seller with my name and phone number and asked them to call me. I thought it weird that they responded by e-mail instead of calling after I gave my number. Then I proceded to read about how she was in the UK and yadda yadda. I asked how we would exchange and offered significantly less than the asking price(because my dad told me it's a great way to catch scammers, offer a significant amount less and if they accept without trying to bargain it's usually a scam because they wanna get you for anything they can) she brought up this shipping company(TNT shipping) so I googled it and found this website. The whole thing seemed fishy but i'm glad theres a website out here like this to try and prevent scams from happening! Here are the e-mails...

I messed with him/her for about two days and after seeing how much I could make "it" dance I got tired and responded "I would feel safer, for all involved, if we used this firm as our 'middle man'."

Hi,

The MacBook Air is still available, but I'm currently in London, United Kingdom. Because of the financial crisis, I lost my job in United States and I had to move at my sister in London ( here I found a good job ) .
I don't need the laptop anymore so I tried to sell the laptop locally, but with no luck. I was offered silly money for the laptop because of issues like - it is a US version or the warranty doesn't work here or that it has a US keyboard format. That's why I'm trying my luck in the US.

Perfectly about TV happy to here and excited for both of us on this very transaction! I still want very much TV. I would be willing to pay a more money directly to your bank account for transfring the warrenty if that helps much very. I see that you are in the UK now, not problem, I have friend who works for a international shipping company internationally much and can include the cost of shipping in the purchase if that is easier for you. Would you prefer me to wire funds directly to your account or should I send US American dollars first for TV.

Ok Donna, we have a deal. The next step is mine.
I will go to TNT with the TV later today, within 2 hours and make the delivery arrangements.
I will get back to you when I come back from TNT with the confirmation.
Thanks,
Diane

Hi Donna,

I have placed the TV in TNT's custody. The guys from TNT told me that they will send the TV to their technical department for inspection and then they will send you the delivery notification.
Well, I have received an invoice from TNT telling me that they have sent you the delivery notification to your e-mail, so you must have received it.
Look for it well in your e-mail, perhaps it has come in the bulk folder of your e-mail.
Let me know if you received anything from TNT.

Thanks,
Diane

So, after all of this I finally caught on and sent this email:

I didn't receive anything from TNT. Are you sure you dropped off the TV? I'd really like to receive it soon. Maybe there was a mix up?

Haha, why not have some fun... if these scammers wasted my time, I sure as heck can waste theirs!

I am very interested in the TV but I hope you understand that it is a little scary sending off $350 and then hoping someone will actually ship it to you once they get your money. Do you have any friends or former coworkers you could ship it to here so I could get the TV and then they could watch me put the money in the mail or send a Paypal payment or something? A third party would reassure both of us that this is legitimate and I would get the TV and you would get the money. I feel terrible for your situation and understand how disappointing and frustrating that must be, but at the same time, I have to be careful. It is a gorgeous TV and I am very interested, I just want to ensure both of our interests are covered in the sale so I am trying to explore some options to make sure that happens.

http://globaltntship.com.co/express.london.depot.overseas.transactions.html

I will pay the TNT shipping fee.
If you agree to their terms please send me your name and address and I will start the delivery procedure.

Thanks,
Diane

I am so sorry for your situation. That must be very frustrating and disheartening.

Hi,

The Samsung Led TV is still available, but I'm currently in London, United Kingdom. Because of the financial crisis, I lost my job in United States and I had to come back to my family.
I don't need the TV anymore so I tried to sell it locally, but with no luck. I was offered silly money for the TV because of issues like - it is a US version or the warranty doesn't work here. That's why I'm trying my luck in the US.
I hope you are still interested. The TV was bought brand new from Samsung 10 weeks ago. I have attached some pics with it to this email.
About the TV I can say it is 10 weeks old and it is in good shape, no scratches, no dents as you can see from the pics I've sent. Included in the $350 price is everything the TV came with when it was new, including the original manuals and warranty papers. The warranty is fully transferable to the new owner.
The TV is here with me in UK.
I tried to be as thorough as I could with the presentation so you can have all the info if you decide to go ahead and buy it.
Please get back to me and let me know if you like the TV if you're really interested in buying it.

Thanks,
Diane

Hi, I too almost fell for her scam. Luckly I called the TNT us service when I noticed that no one was picking up I started to do a little digging. When I saw everyones posting I called westernunion and canceled my transfer. I got my money back and had them put a red flag on the persons name that is to retrive the money. Just be careful and I hope that they get these people

Emailed me yesterday here is my email from "Arianna" funny that they use that name.

Hi, I am getting back to you regarding the 46" Sony LCD, 1080p full HDTV from Craigslist

My name is Arianna and I am now in Wolverhampton, United Kingdom.
I am selling the 46" Sony LCD, 1080p, full HDTV, 120 Mhz for $300 USD. I have attached some pics so you can see the condition of the TV.
The TV is still available and I hope you are still interested. This TV was ordered brand new 4 months ago.
About the TV I can say it is 4 months old and it is in good shape, no scratches, no dents as you can see from the pics I've sent. Included in the $300 price is everything the TV came with when it was new, including the original manuals and warranty papers. The TV still has warranty for the next 20 months.
One more thing, the TV is an US version and it works on the US power and plug system so you do not need a converter to use it in the US.

Please get back to me and let me know if you like the TV if you're really interested in buying it.

Thanks,
Arianna

Thankful for these postings...almost got scammed myself! Only this person was from London and used the name Diane Halley.

When I sent an email asking about the TV Diane Halley wrote:

When I said we were interested in the TV but curious how it would be purchased, Diane Halley wrote:

Please accept my apologies for the late reply but I was out of town and I didn't had access to an computer.

I asked seller where it was bought from and if she had the receipt - Diane Halley wrote:
I bought it from bestbuy. The TV is in perfect condition look and work like new.

I asked seller if she had the receipt for the warranty and Diane Halley wrote:
Yes, I still have the warranty receipts and you can transfer it on your name.
Ok, we have a deal. The next step is mine.
I will go to TNT with the TV tomorrow and make the delivery arrangements.
I will get back to you when I come back from TNT with the confirmation.

I then got this email from Diane:
Hi

I just came back from TNT. The guys from TNT told me that they will send the TV to their technical department for inspection and then they will notify you. They will also notify you with the instructions you need to complete your end of the deal. Please complete your end as soon as you can and keep me posted.

Thanks,
Diane

Then I got an email from TNT with all the information about the TV and that it was ready to be shipped once they received a money order. When I saw that they only accepted money orders (not much protection for me) and that there was no way to contact TNT except ia email (they actually put this message in their email:
We have found that providing email and Internet support allows us to give quick, reliable, and consistent answers to questions and concerns. Using email also allows us to document what was communicated in previous emails to you and to avoid duplication of responses. Phone support simply does not serve our members needs as well as email does.

Contact us with any questions 24/7: CustomerDepartment@shipTNT.uk.com)

When I saw that there was way to contact them other than email, I decided to check the internet for reviews on the company. This Scam alert came up instead. So glad I checked. Almost got me on this one!

All you have to do is call [protected] which is the number for the US TNT Service Center. She can look up any tracking number (in my case it was a fake) and tell you if there is any equipment in any TNT property's possession. Thanks for posting about this!

I also received the same email as NOT_RIPPED_YET. Does anybody know of anything that could be done about this? Anything that could possibly punish them?

These people (i'm pretty sure it's not just one person) e-mailed me about a TV using the name Arianna Beamer and the email address
arianna-beamer@hotmail.com. I visited the website and got it's IP address. It's 217.23.11.215 and is located in Maasdijk, Netherlands. The latitude and longitude is 51.[protected] and 4.[protected] if anyone is in the area and wants to pay them a visit. lol.
I used www.ip-address.com to look up information on it. It's pretty intense because it even shows a map/picture of the building the website is being hosted from.

Anyways, I'm glad I googled this name. Once I read about the person being out of the area, I knew it was a scam but was curious as to whether other people had dealt with this same person before.
