T.J. Maxx discount lie

I love to shop at your store in Bellingham. There are a lot of things that I like about your store. For example, the customer service and the deals are always great. But I believe that I did not get the discount while I was using a credit card when I should have gotten.
A year ago I shopped at your store and the cashiers always offered me to get a credit card to get a discount of 10% off. After that I started using a credit card to pay for my purchases. I believe I shopped at your store three times and I never got a 10% discount.
I would love to shop at your store but I feel that there is a discount fraud or a mistake.
Unless you solve

The world is full of idiots signing up for store credit cards... And there is enormous pressure on employees to get people to sign up. If you don't get enough credit cards they can cut your hours or punish you in other ways... We're told to make it sound like not a credit card and only say it is when directly asked. Tj maxx made a deal with the bank to take your money... Why would you give away your personal information for a lousy 10% which barely covers tax?

I work at TJ Maxx and the 10% discount is on your first purchase (granted to you the day you sign up for the card) and then with every $200 you spend, you get a $10 gift card to use in the store.

Every where I go I am asked " would you like to sign up for a card today?" At every place your discount or rewards is upon "instant approval" I believe at TJ maxx the 10% is on your first purchase and then you receive gift cards or gift certifies for every every certian amount you spend. I could be wrong, you would have to ask either at their customer service counter or perhaps your credit card company.

I was offered a 10% discount on my purchases today if I signed up for a credit card & AFTER giving my information, was told I was turned down and the 10% discount would not be honored today. I felt lied to so I left my basket of stuff and walked out.

T.J. Maxx - rudeness of personnel and price question not satisfactorily answered

WHILE IN TJ MAXX TODAY, I SAW A PURSE ON THE CLEARANCE SECTION. PRICE WAS NOT CLEARLY IDENTIFIED. WAS ON AN OLD TAG AS IF THE PURSE HAD BEEN RETURNED. I TRIED TO DETERMINE THE CORRECT PRICE OF THE PURSE THROUGH THE CASHIER AND THE MANAGER. THEY BOTH STATED THAT THE PRICE ON THE TAG WAS CORRECT. I DO NOT BELIEVE THE CORRECT PRICE WAS SHOWN FOR EITHER A...

T.J. Maxx poor customer service

My husband and I went to TJ Maxx to purchase slacks for him - he selected 4 pairs and went into the fitting room. I was returning something and followed him to the fitting room. The obnoxious woman in charge of the fitting room banged on the door and told me "You stay out here!" pointing to a corner. So I started to walk towards the jewelry counter which was across the aisle - she kept yelling "YOU STAY HERE!" Like she was ordering a dog around. When all I wanted to do was make sure the slacks my husband was trying on looked good.

I love all the good deals I've gotten at TJ Maxx over the years, but this was the most horrible experience I've had an any retail establishment - if this is how TJ Maxx is training their employees, I'll go to a real department store and pay full price just to get better service.

While I might attest some of this to a language barrier, that was incredibly rude and you should have complained about it to a manager so the associate can be retrained.

You know why she told you to "stay there" is because its a MENS dressing room, would you feel comfortable as a woman changing to see a man looming outside the stalls. My guess is no, so why should you be treated any different? Seriously takes less then two seconds for him to come out the rooms to show you the slacks, why so sensitive?

T.J. Maxx - charge shoplift illegal practices

I am a 26 yearsold who in an extreme need for your advice. I got married in last summer for green card applicatant. My arrange husband is American citizen. I am in US as an international student. T.J. Maxx service

I went to the TJ Maxx in Evanston, IL. My mother had bought me a shirt from the Runway section, and the size was wrong so I wanted to exchange it for a bigger size or exchange it for another shirt of the same value ($150). I go to school in the Evanston area and my parents live 2 hours away, so I did not have a receipt for the shirt. The first man I talked to rudely told me that the exchange/return policy did not allow me to do anything without a receipt. I went home and checked the return policy and it clearly stated that I could return an item without a receipt but would only receive store credit. I went back with a printed copy of this, and the same guy rudely told me that he knows his return policy and would not take it back. I asked to talk to the manager, and he also told me that he would not take it back. I was in no mood for arguing so I took the shirt back, but on the way out I told the manager about the rude treatment from the other guy. The manager said nothing and the othey guy rudely mumbled at me while I was walking out. I went back to the same TJ Maxx a few days later, and the manager saw me there. The entire time he just followed me around the store watching what I was picking up. He made me feel like a criminal. If I can pay for a $150 blouse, I don't care about trying to save a few dollars here or there. I will never go back to that TJ Maxx and I advise all of you to never go there either, unless you want to be followed like a criminal and be treated rudely. On the other hand, the TJ Maxx is Oak Brook is amazing with great quality and service.

While not your fault, next time make sure that if you or your mother buys a gift at TJ Maxx, ask for a gift receipt. You'll find that suddenly, a lot of problems with the return that arose from your lack of receipt will magically go away!

Just don't steal stuff and save your receipts. A lot of places won't even return a $5 item without a receipt. Welcome to the real world!

Actually, the policy says other restictions may apply, but I guess you skipped right over that part since it would not support your argument that everyone else is wrong and you are right. It is a retailers right to refuse any return for any reason. However, I will say the store should have exchanged the shirt for the identical shirt in a different size, if that is what you were wanting to do. However, you did say they refused to return it, not exchange it. Retailers have to protect their assets, you may not think $150 is much money to a large retailer such as TJ Maxx, Wal-Mart, Target, etc, but when you have 300 to 1000 customers coming into your store each day and 10% - 25% want to return something it adds up very quickly for a company. Just curious, why didn't you just get the receipt from your mother? She could have mailed the receipt and it would have arrived within a few days. As far as the manager following you around, if he/she thought you were stealing loss prevention would have been following you and you would have been none the wiser, not the store manager. Perhaps the store manager was making sure he/she was available if you needed any help in order to off-set the previous bad experience you had with them.

T.J. Maxx stealing

So I came into TJ Maxx today. I rip off every tickets to see if I can get a cheaper price. I went up to the service desk and I ask the asian girl if she can check the price for me. She said no! Then she call another asian girl up. I ask her if she can check the price for me, she said to me rudely, "If those ###ers didn't rip off the price there would be less work for us!". I ask to speak to her manager, she said her manager is not in the store. And I ask her who can I speak to, she said no one. Then she said she can't check the price for me and told me I'll have to wait an hour or so. So I went to the back and found a boy working in the rugs department, I ask him to check the prices for me and he said, "Why don't you bring it to the service desk!?! Do I look like I can help you right now? I'm busy!". I flipped out on him and he wouldn't say anything back. Then there's another asian boy with glasses, I ask him to check the price for me, he said, "Oh, I don't work here." Then they paged him to the fitting room and he left. I said, "Excuse, I thought you say you don't work here." He said, "No I didn't. Well, I do work here but I'm not going to help you!". I was looking all over the store for the manager but couldn't find her so I guess I went into the breakroom? Another asian girl was in there and she scream to me, "HEY! you're not suppose to be in here! It's employee only! Can you not read the sign? If you need to use the rest room, it over there to your right!"

I would never go back to that store ever again.

Tyngsborough is even worst!
I tried on a couple of shoes, and one of the employee said to me, "If you're not going to put it back and clean up the mess, don't try on our shoes." I tried to complain to the manager, she walked out with a bag of McDonald and said, "I'm on my lunch, I'll get another manager to help you." What kind of customer service is that?!?! WTF! Then I continued shopping, everytime I touch something, the employee look at me, I ask them, is there a problem? do it look like I'm stealing. And 3 of the kids reply, "Yeah, it does." I said that's it! Let me speak to your manager! They said "No! We don't have any managers here." So I found the same manager with the bag of McDonald coming in with more foods, I said to her, "Excuse me! Your employees were really rude!" And she said, "Oh, it's okay, well, I'm still on mylunch break, I'll be back in about 20 minutes." So she walk back in the office. I told the kids, I'm going to call the cops and everyone started laughing and hand me the phone. I didn't call the cops on them but I rip about 60 tickets off their mechandise. :) That's what they get for messing with me!

Seriously! No respect! None! I’ve worked in retail for 15 years. Do you want to know why you were treated like that…. Because you acted like that! Even if they have to look up a price on an item it’s still THE SAME PRICE GENIUS! All your doing is wasting your time and theirs, you really expected that to change? Really? That’s why you were treated like a joke. That time could be spent on serving real customers with real issues. Calling another store for particular items, ensuring all departments are recovered. Filling four ways and end caps. Cashing out legit customers. Pushing merchandise. Marking down merchandise. Sizing sorting ticketing categorizing! This is what they could be doing instead of reticketing merchandise that was just ticked. You wouldn’t understand until you do this as a living. Actually care about your departments , store, and or employees. What if there’s a code Adam and Manager on duty is running around looking for your ripped tickets instead, Don’t care do you? No common sense. Grow up dude!

I've been a shopper at the Chelmsford, MA. TJMaxx for YEARS. There isn't now, and never WAS an employee in that store who would treat a customer the way this person CLAIMS they were treated. First of all, he notes that he dealt with clerks of Asian descent...like that should be considered a problem...and all the while, he's unable to write a paragraph in proper English himself. He admits to ripping tags off so he can get a "better price", and then complains because he wasn't treated like royalty. Sounds to me like he's little more than a piece of gutter trash, and obviously, his parents did a rather poor job of raising him.

Steve, you are so full of ###, that it is not funny. You are ripping off price tags in hopes to get a cheaper price; in other words, you are trying to rip off the company.? I happen to be an Asian from California, but I would have felt the same way. No one should help you when you are trying that ###. I wish that someone would have kicked your ###; too bad there is so much political ###. Next time, pay the price that is printed on the tag, instead of ### about rude employees. It is amazing to me how so many people think they are entitled to a job. Guess what? The real world isn't so easy. I am appalled at the one sided view of most of the employees posting here. Maybe the reason you don't get promoted is because you aren't professional, or have poor communication skills. Time on a job, or senority, doesn't preclude a promotion. Part of being a manager is being able to see both sides of a situation. If an employee is being investigated for theft, they aren't going to announce it to everyone. So don't be so sure that your complaint about a thieving employee is going unheeded. They have to build a case, just like anywhere else. Also, while you might have children, that doesn't entitle you to work all the hours you want at the times you want them. Dollar General has a business to run, and that means having associates there when the customers are there. Work is work, not supposed to be some fun, magical place where you get everything you want without any negatives or having to do some labor. Crying about every little thing is going to get you no where. Oh, and talking about ANY kind of sexual activity, straight, bi, or gay would get you fired at every place I have ever worked. It is called sexual harrassment. Even if you don't intend it to be. So keep that crap to yourself if you want to stay employed!

Actually depending on the company it can be easy to get to the employee break room. We have had many customers at the Wal-mart I work at stumble in to the break room because they think the store has two levels or because they think that is the washrrom is(despite the customer washrooms being right before the break room) We just poiltely tell them where the washroom is. Just a few days ago I stopped a man from going in the lady's washroom because he did not read the sign. I doubt that all the facts in this letter are true however. Also calling people who are over the age of maturity "boys" and "girls" is degrading.

T.J. Maxx customer service

I was just in the Tjmaxx in Chelmsford the other day. I have always shopped at tjmaxx since i was a little girl. I was trying to buy a sweater and it seemed like the sweater was missing a markdown. The month on the tag was 07 meaning July yet it had only had one markdown. I went to the service desk to ask one of the associates if they could check it in the computer and they refused. So i had requested to speak to a manger and the assciote said that he was busy and would take a long time to get up here to help me! i told him iwould wait, and i did until he came up. I asked him the same question and he refused to check it! i told him i knew it was less money and he said unless you have the same exact shirt (which there was none because it came out in JULY) then he couldnt mark it down! i was disgusted in his attitude and answer and went out of the store extremely mad and confused! im not going to buy a shirt that i know is marked down ! its the company's own damn fault its not marked down to what its supposed to be ! ! ! ! I HATE TJMAXX IN CHELMSFORD ! ! ! ! !

Pretty sure the customer sucks in this scenario. Get over it, you idiot. Pay the extra $10 if you need the damn thing so much. And what relevance does your "I've shopped there ever since I was a little girl" nostalgia bunk contribute to the story? Consumers are such jack-[censor] these days. Go get some real problems.

1. Markdown look up is blocked in our store (High Shrink Target)
2. Items are priced based on how long they been in the store, they can't be marked down at someone's house.
3. I just scan the item in any menu and say "No, sorry it's not marked down (or the color, or the month, the style, it returned, system is down etc.)" in the most polite and apologetic way.
4. When people hear the truth they get upset, when you kiss their ###... they love you still. Or Bad Cop/Good Cop games with manager.

If it does not have a sticker, and there's nothing else like it in the store, it's priced as marked until the next cycle. The next markdown would have been just 5 dollars, 2 dollars less than 7, which is already a very low price for a sweater. Not to mention that month codes do not always match up with the month of the year, and not all items are marked down at the same time despite the month code.

It's unreasonable to expect that all items have the markdown they would have if they went through every cycle, many items that have a markdown on them are returned, and they are generally put back with whatever price they were sold at. Checking a subsequent markdown takes a lot longer for the manager to go into the computers to check. For associates to do this with every clearance item returned would be a waste of time. Many old items are not even in the system and cannot be checked for another markdown, and if someone will buy it at the marked price, there is no reason to mark it down when there is nothing wrong with it.

Hey,

I work at TJ Maxx, and usually am up at the Service Desk.

Honestly, we have specific dates for markdowns and subsequents (subs as we call them), and upon these days, we're allowed to check for markdowns or subs. If not, most of us, cannot check for a markdowns or subs without a manager being present.

It can be very stressful for us up there, having to worry about customer complaints, constantly asking for markdowns, discounts, speaking with a manager, making sure breaks are on time, if we have any one else to ring on a register...

A THOUSAND RETURNS A DAY, it gets quite hectic for us up there.

All I ask is, I know I read that most, or nearly all complaints are about TJ Maxx and their associates. But until you put yourselves in our shoes, I just wish you would have the common courtesy to respect us.

If you are nice to us, we will treat you the same! =) Especially myself, I try to make a nice convo, but some people are grouchy and inconsiderate, you know?

But honestly, the next sub would have been close to two or three dollars off. And people return just TWO dollars, it gets annoying. Or if they sit there and complain why they have to get store credit back, it's very.. very tedious.

Sorry if I come off angry, this is just a lot of locked up anger and disgust for people. Lol, anyway, thanks for reading!

T.J. Maxx store manager attitude and treatment

Today, Feb. 7, 09 I realized after having spent my life at TJMax shopping, the store is CONFUSED with their own prices. I was and I am pissed about the way the manager and the cashier took care of me. The clothing I was trying to buy had mark down prices on them, and during the time I was trying to purchase, they claimed those items were not actually on Sale. HOWEVER, the exact item on the rack (after the manager checked) was infact marked down also. STILL they did not honor the marked down price, they took off their sorry marked down sticker off the ticket, and told me THAT particular top was not on sale despite the fact that its exact twin was! So tell me, WHAT THE HELL IS THAT? I just cannot believe the store embarased ME and treated me like a criminal! I am beyond upset and beyond hurt! especially because TJ Max has always been my FIRST choice! Now, it is NOT my choice at ALL! This happend at the TJMax on Almaden Exp, San Jose, CA. I HATE THEM!

T.J. Maxx rude, mean customer service

On 02/04/09 I was at that tjmaxx with 2 items to return: a small vest (cash receipt was in the bag) & a knit strapless mini dress. The cashier svelana hardly could speak english, murmured some phrase in her language to another cashier &sked some amanda s, the coordinator, whether that was really a dress. She is seemingly of size 20-22 herself, so when she pressed dress against her massive figure, the dress looked like an apron. Amanda, a tall girl, first of all sharply took away a foil brand stiker, then stretched the dress as if was trying to cover her front, and sentenced: not a dress, no return. I asked her to put the sticker back, she in the most unprofessional & rude manner yelledin front of 4-5 customers that the sticker does not belong to the dress. I showed her all the labels on the dress and then she said; oh, I did not see that first... And in a sarcastic way tried to attach it back at some wrong place, but now it's damaged. I got back the cash for the vest & took the dress back home. Tjmaxx in my area in alpharetta must teach employees an acceptable customer service in english language, and reprimand amanda s. I can spend my $ @ other place.. Rather than to be a loyal customer since the store opened in [protected] when amanda probably was in elementary school. And if I see svelana or amanda over there at "customer no service" desk, i'll quit to be your customer, dear tjmaxx. And my family will.

T.J. Maxx bad customer service in tjmaxx, norwalk ct (ct ave)

HI! I had very bad experience in Tjmaxx Norwalk CT (CT ave), manager was rood and ignored when he was "helping" with my return. He didn't even look at my item and told me that I can't return it because I don't have receipt. This sterling silver necklace came from this TJMAXX, there are other jewelry in exactly same boxes. I'll will bring this issue to corporate headquater.
If you need to return an item in TJmaxx and you don't have receipt, it will be a big problem.

I have been overcharged and called the manager as soon as i got home. She was extremely rude! She took my name and address and promised to send out a gift card. This was probably 3 months ago... Still no gift card. I didn't really care because it was only 12.99 but she was just sooooo rude and not once did she apologize. I'm very disappointed with T.J. Maxx in Greensburg PA!

Did you still have the price ticket? Otherwise, it's perfectly reasonable to deny a return lacking a receipt. Without a receipt, there is no real proof it was purchased there.

T.J. Maxx rude attitude and bad management

I had bought 2 watches from the Westminster store (at Colorado) before the Christmas and returned them at the Superior store today. Before the return, I asked the counter that if it would be ok to return the jewelry items at this location (Superior Colorado). The merchant is in the same condition as when was purchased, with the price tags and the receipt. The lady kindly told me yes at first; however, her attitude became very rude after getting the manager/supervisor's signature. She told me, "Please return the jewelry items to the store you bought, because this just kills us." Then turned away immediately.

To my defense, I had asked if it was acceptable to return the jewelry items from the different store. If the policy is not to accept the return merchandise from the other stores, please explain it at first; DO NOT put the blame onto the customers afterward. Such attitude is NOT professional.

I used to shop at the Superior TJ Maxx store frequently but have stayed away from it as much as possible since the past couple years. Mainly I have been very frustrated with the poor customer service and bad attitude received at this store. I hope TJ Maxx management recognizes the importance of customer service and work with this store employees for service improvement.

T.J. Maxx customer service

TJ Maxx has always been one of my favorite places to shop - until now. There has never been an issue with my payments over the 30 years I have shopped at this store. I have often written checks, as well as used credit. Last week-end, I was told my check was not authorized by the Certegy Credit System used by the store. My check had my name (rather unique) and I had my driver's license (and other ID) for validation. When I registered my surprise, an adjacent cashier said that this non-authorization seemed to be happening often lately. My checking account had ample funds. The manager came at my request, but told me there was nothing she could do. I was told I would have to pay using some other method.
I considered leaving everything and walking out, but as I had a birthday gift and children's Christmas gifts in my cart, I did pay with credit. I was given a number for Certegy Customer Service. I called and discovered that the issue seemed to be that I had not written checks to TJ Maxx using my new (8 month old)checking account. The Service representative verified that I had excellent financial history with the store, but this was not recognized by the automated service. I was told I could fill out a form to be put on a 'premium' list.
I found this to be a very embarrassing situation. It makes me wonder if TJ Maxx has little concern for their regular customers. While I appreciate the value of having a service that attempts to restrict identity theft, I felt that I had more than adequate proof available within the store. I even thought the manager would recognize me and give me some consideration for a check under $100. Gone are the days of Customer Service.

In September of this year, I applied for a TJ Maxx Rewards Platinum MasterCard. I was looking to refurnish my living room. I found exactly what I was looking for in the store and was very pleased with my purchases. I was told by the cashier that if I applied for a TJ Maxx Rewards Platinum Mastercard, for every $200.00 that I spend, I will receive a $10.00 rewards certificate. To make a long story short, my purchase that day was approximately $404.00. To this date, I have yet to receive my $20.00 certificate. I have been on the phone with your customer service department at least seven (7) times. With each call I make, I am put on hold for a long period of time and then I am apologized to. Each representative states that my certificate is being mailed. I find this to be such a disgrace. I have shopped at TJ Maxx for years and this infuriates me. Could someone please get back to me on this matter. Thank you. K. McG.

Erica, I'm sorry to hear about the lack of professionalism on the manager's part. However just an fyi, you don't need to ask them for the HR #. The 1-800 CS # is posted in pretty big letters above the customer service desk. And you can find it on your receipt too.

Brooklyn Park MInnesota, .. today, .. i tried to return a Guess that i purchased a two weeks ago, when i opened the lotion from its wraper and i tried a little bit and the smell of this lotion was completly rotten, I mean the smell was just horrible, so i tried to take it back today with the receipt and as soon as the manager Nancy, saw it she said "i cant do this, its been used" well it has not, i wouldnt use a bad lotion, .. so she took the receipt and punched the numbers in and said that she cant do it cuz its just not even registered, ..so i just told her look, .. i dont need the money back, i just want to exchange it by something else. she didnt honor it even though i shop there ALL the time, .. then she just turned aroung and left me talking. Then i asked for an HR number and she tried to go around it, but she finally gave it to me after asking PLease 3 times... I will never shop there again, so word to the wise, .. test the product or try it on before purchasing it even if it has a wraping doesnt mean its in perfect conditions.

BLOOMFIELD MICHIGAN TJ-MAXX. The cheap low labor TJ Maxx is hiring will do the store in. I shop, at the least once a week and today was my last..I'm returning everything I had just purchased this month, might i add, all items from the runway collection. The service at the dressing room was poor, the constant cheap trash labor degrading client's, NOTE to all TJ-MAXX's cheap labor, untrained retail employees, IF I am purchasing $1000 worth of clothes a month, i am paying your paycheck.. I will be contacting the Better Business Bureau too and all complaints on here should. No one should be treated like a criminal, degraded due to ignorance of non-trained employees..ALL COMNPLAINTS should be reported to the better business bureau and the retail management team. Write down names, and 5 letters should be sent to retail, district and headquarters. Your the consumer, your money, your rights and your in control!

I have been shopping at tj maxx since the 70's. On july 4, 2009 I purchased a calvin klein tee shirt. It was on the clearance rack. It was $16.00, when I put the shirt on it had a massive hole in the middle of it. I took it back but didn't have the receipt for it, since I have done this a couple of time before, I did not expect any hassle. The material of this shirt was dry rot. The manager refuse to gave me a store credit. He said I could have done this myself. Why? I will no longer support this store

AnnMarie:
Depending on manager policies at various levels, store associates may not be allowed to mark items down if the style numbers are different. If one style came in during the month 17 and again in 19, the items have different style numbers depending on the month. These items are marked down based on date, the idea is to sell what hasn't sold. Since the new ones haven't had a chance to sell yet, it's stupid to mark it down as soon as it's unloaded from the truck.

Sometimes, shoplifter wannabes will peel a markdown sticker from one item and place it on another some try to buy the item, others change their minds and leave it on the floor. All prices for items are pulled directly from the price ticket, so what ever the price above the barcode is is what the register will ring up. Since associates and honest customers cannot read bar codes by eye, when they are scanned at the register, the numbers printed on the original ticket and the numbers encoded in the barcode are different. Associates are trained to look for this to prevent loss to dishonest people. It is neither the store's fault, nor the customer's fault when this happens. All the associate can do is peel the incorrect sticker off, and do a markdown check in the markdown machine. If there is no markdown, there is no markdown.

Refusing your check had nothing to do with identity theft. Refusal of your check could mean you probably have a bad check elsewhere serviced by certegy. Certegy serves many companies and once you write a bad check at one of the many companies serviced by certegy your check will be refused at all of them until you take care of the check. Certegy does not send you a form to fill-out to be added a "premium list", they send you the information as to where you can mail a money order to pay for your returned check.

I use to work for retail so I know all this ###. :) And it's not the manager's fault or the employee's fault. It's the district manager's fault for not allowing them to mark down anything in the store unless they're are in the process of marking down things on that day. I don't see why your ###ed ### is hating on the store when you don't know what's really going on. Beside, TJ Maxx is already cheap. How cheap do you want the price to be? Might as well go steal from the store! -___-

There literally is nothing the managers could have done to help you in that situation. The check (or credit/debit card) cannot be accepted as payment until the system tells the software in the cash register it is okay.

T.J. Maxx missing child

I was at T J max today, 11/08/08, around 4:00 pm to about 5:00 pm at 590 Amherst St. Nashua, with my four children, when in 60 seconds my 3 year old was missing i went to the front of the store and told costumer service to make sure they stay at the front door to make sure no one left with a 3 year old with a green shirt and blue jeans and blonde hair. The lady acted a little concerned, but continued with her purchase, she didn't even say over the loud speaker that a little boy was missing, and didn’t send and employee to search for him, or locked the doors for no one to leave the store . At this point, as well as you know it only takes seconds for someone to leave the store with your child I was very concerned in T J Max's procedures. Your employee's should of know better on how to react in a situation like this.

I agree with Tiffany H, it's not the store's responsibility to babysit your child while in the store. They have to run a business. Yes, it would've been nice for the clerk to watch the store, but amongst watching the store, customers, your child, etc... things may get a bit frazzled for her. I would not announce on the loud speaker the description of the child, for the sake of the crazy predators that may have been in the store and prey on kids. Thank goodness the child was found; but I don't think it's worth a complaint to file to the store headquarters because you misplaced your child... and yes, i am a parent. Also, maybe speaking with headquarters about adding code adam would be nice, but again, i wouldn't complain without a solution because the parent wasn't watching her child.

I disagree, Tiffany H must either a) never had children, or b) must have been extremely blessed to have had the most perfect children ever created. Unless a parent is being negligent this situation can happen to anyone. I have 2 children and no it has never happened to me, but I know it can happen in an instant. I work for a large retailer and this is a common occurrence. We have in place a "Code Adam" alert that our operators announce over the intercom with a brief description (in a NON identifying manner) of the child. This alerts employees immediately to look for the child, but to watch all exits to make sure no one tries to exit with the child. We are all trained what to do in this situation. I think T J Max should definitely review this and hopefully this Mom has alerted the Store Manager as well as their Corporate Headquarters.

It's not their responsibility to lock their store doors and search for your child. You should have been holding his hand or had him in a cart upon entering the store.

Since you have 4 children START WATCHING THEM. It is not our fault you feel overburdened. Be a better parent, use birth control etc. Stop blaming stores and others for your own shortcomings.

Many companies/retailers no longer force customers to provide their phone numbers (if their phone number is unlisted) when paying products via personal check. T.J. Maxx bait 'n switch

I shopped at TJ Maxx today and I saw some great jeans on a rack. I thought they would make an awesome present for my girlfriend who really likes this particular brand.

The sign on the rack said $79.99. However, when I went to the checkout, they came up at $99.99.

I told the cashier that the price was wrong. We could both clearly see the sign and the nice cashier agreed with me.

Then the manager decided to step in and veto the 79.99 (correct) price. She said that some of the jeans on the rack were 99.99. I showed her the signage. It says 79.99, not 79.99 and up. She agreed with the verbiage of the sign, but still would not give me the 20.00 difference in price. I think that's called bait and switch, right? Lure you in with one price and then make it more expensive. Good thing I've been trapped in retail for the past 6+ years. I have some connections with TJ Maxx. Just wish I didn't have to go through all of this because the manager had a chip on her shoulder despite her store's incorrect signage. Time to battle!

I just bought 02 fragrances Burberry at Tjmaxx. Both have the red tag $22.00, one in my receipt was charged correct, the other was charged $29.00. I just realized today while I overlooked the receipt.
So, this is not sign mistake, that someone place the item at the wrong spot. Who ever is defending the store ... check out my receipt!

As my unnamed store manager started morning meetings "our customers are pigs but..." Things get put in the wrong place. One time someone put a handmade $5 sign meant for mismated socks on the cashmere sweater table. Did I honor that? Do I have brain damage? Those racks are there to try to make it easier for customers to find what they're looking for and for people who do not like to dig through long runs of clothes. Many customers find items and then change there mind and just set hang them on whatever is closest. In the future, remember that all items are priced according to what the TJ Maxx ticket says, not necessarily the sign. The signs usually tell the maximum price of items on that display or what vendor the clothes are from.

"Ryan With Connections", if you have worked in retail for six plus years then you know the drill and you are wrong. First, that is not what they call a "bait & switch". Second, a retailer is only obligated to sell the merchandise for the price on the ticket, if it is the correct ticket or otherwise what we in 20+ years of retail experience call the "correct price". Several things could have caused this error, you moved the sign from another fixture, an associate added the jeans to the fixture without realizing the sign did not match the price on the jeans (human error, glad you're perfect though), the pair of jeans you got were the only pair on the rack because a customer placed them there when they decided on the 79.99 jeans instead of the 99.99 jeans they had originally selected, or someone was in the process of filling the rack due to selling and had not yet changed the sign. I am sure none of these occurred to you since you have connections and a lot of retail experience. I would think someone with retail experience would consider some of these options and give the store some latitude, these kind of comments are something you expect from a customer ignorant of retail practices.

I find myself wondering where you work, I would be curious to see if your store is perfect. If not I would most definitly have to contact your supervisor and write a letter to post on the internet. Oh yeah and mention my connections within your company.

Okay, maybe someone just put that jean there. If you work in retails before then you should know that whatever price is on the ticket is the price for the item. DUH! Genius. :) It's only 20 bucks different. Quit being cheap! It's ###en TJ Maxx man, you could of paid more!

T.J. Maxx poor shopping experience

To whom it may concern,

Hi. I live in moore sc. I am new up here in the state of sc just 6 months. I need to tell you i am quite surprised how the merchandise is different from my old state of boca raton, fl. The clothing in the stores are not the nicest of collections and things. I am an avid shopper of tj maxx i would like to express to you. I was such a frequent shopper in the boca raton store, that they always welcomed me by name as i arrived. The clothes were magnificent as well as the collections. Each time it is a constant struggle to find anything worth buying as, the store carries 1. A lot of small sizes. (not everyone by the way is a 4)! 2. The clothes are just not nice. By this time of year leather and suede would come out and i would go home with lots of bag fulls of fall clothing. 3. The store is never orderly. Things on the floor, clothing squeezed in through little room racks! I am hoping you look into this matter as i am quite disappointed toeven want to shop in there! I will however, compliment you guys for your homegood store marshall's in greenville. Although it is 27 miles from me i enjoy going to shop there as it reminds me of the one in boca raton. Full of great items! Always. Please take these concerns as constructive criticism, as i would like to continue shopping in spartanburg, sc. Thanks for your time. Ps: i have overheard other people saying the same thing!

Sincerely,

One of your best customers

T.J. Maxx poor business practices

If you, like me, are one of the hundreds of thousands of people whose credit/debit card was breached and cancelled because of TJ Maxx's lack of security, then get mad.

Read the condescending letter from their CEO on the TJ Maxx website, and it may just provoke you to do some real complaining.

TJ Maxx has passed this serious matter off to banks to handle. Some banks are cancelling and reissuing cards and some are just saying to 'watch your account for activity'. Either way, someone other than TJ Maxx is paying for the situation. Reissuing credit/debit cards is costly for the banks especially when it numbers hundreds or thousands. We as customers will end up paying for it. TJ Maxx won't. NOT UNLESS, you boycott them.

I've set foot for the last time in any of their stores because I've learned the hard way that a discount store uses discount security measures.

Why shouldn't their stock suffer? Why shouldn't their sales suffer? Buying at TJ Maxx only condones the poor business practices that they adhere to day in and day out. The breach has gone on for months, and consumers are just now finding out, and some of us the hard way. TJ Maxx has offered nothing to effected customers other than their pitiful attempt at a letter on their website. Try phoning them. There are operators who will take your call, but the conversation is scripted and the ears deaf to your problems.

Do you want to do business with a company like that? I don't.

I am BEGGING you to please, please, please implement a limit on how many Rae Dunn items one person can buy. I am so SICK of seeing pictures online of a single person with a FULL cart of Rae Dunn when I'm just trying to find a few pieces at a time to add to my collection. These "shelf clearers" are only buying to resell online. STOP THEM!
