Tires Plus Total Car Care tire replacement/mechanical issues

I was shopping around my VA area for replacing my 4 tires for a 2003 Honda Civic LX .
I got a printed estimate from Tire Plus website for a specific type of tire and went to the shop to replace it. Shop location: 8217 Lee Hwy, Fairfax, VA
I was attracted to the fact that it was specified to get $60 back into a Visa card and also it was stated that the tire replacement will be done in 59 minutes or less.
I dropped the vehicle and I also requested to perform a leak test for my cooling system because I noticed a slight increase into my cooling system temperature.
I asked the manager how long will take to complete everything - because I had my whole day booked with activities - and he told me that shouldn't take longer than an hour.
What happened after could describe as a nightmare:
- it took more than 4 hours to perform the work, having me circling around their shop, every time increasing the wait time by half an hour
- they came back telling me that the tires I am requesting are not in stock because the tire size printout from their website was wrong. The tires that they mounted were not qualifying for $60 discount
- they gave me an estimate for cooling problem. I was told that they will have to replace the radiator, hoses, thermostat and head gasket. All for $2500.

I took the car to another shop where they found the upper hose clamp being the culprit for overheating the engine. Cost me $15 to replace the hose and clamps.

Crooks, thieves, incompetents, liars!
I will sue them shortly in small claims and place a BBB complain as well.
Stay away from them.

Tires Plus Total Car Care broke my air conditioner

On Jan 4th 2016, I had to have my car towed from my place of work in Marshall to the Tire Plus in Marshall due to I could smell coolant and smoke coming from underneath the hood. It was my radiator, which they fixed but in the process they called me to tell me that my air conditioner was also broken and that they had taken out the compressor and were wondering if they should put it back in. They told me it would cost me over another $200.00. They explained that they broke some hose clamps and had replaced them and said that everything seemed rusty and hard to take apart. I was very upset to hear about the air conditioner. I took my car to 2 different mechanics and told them what happened and showed them my receipt from Tire Plus explaining all that was done and both of them said they had no reason at all to even touch the air conditioner. They both told me to wait till it gets warm enough to try then to see if the air conditioner works and of course it does not work. Because of Tire Plus I don't have any air conditioning. I asked them to do 1 thing and that was to fix the radiator and in the mean time ruin my air conditioner. I have never had a problem with my air conditioner. Each of the mechanics said to take it back to Tire Plus and have them fix it since they broke it. Very upset customer. Now that I will be going to Yellowstone on a vacation, I won't have any air conditioning. I know I won't recommend that anyone else take their vehicle there so that the same thing doesn't happen to them.

Tires Plus on Ft. CROOK Road should be your first clue that this place is not honest. My son, went in about three weeks ago for a bargain oil change. They came back and said, we suspect an oil leak. We can test it for $40. After letting the dye run a couple days, my son went back. They couldn't find a big dye mark on the outside of the engine. They said...

Have gone to tires plus to get an alignment and i purchased the 3 year warranty plan. They deceived me by telling me they did an alignment and gave me a printout of a mazda [protected] alignment printout for a date that i did not even my car to them. I have a Mazda 2007. Extremly unethical outfit. West Chester, PA location. They tried to bilk me out of $2, 000 of repairs my car did not need. I am fortunate that I am mechanically inclined as I was able to tell off the bat that their assesment of my vehicle was way out of whack. I declined their services and walked away. Took a look at the problems they said existed only to...

Tires Plus Total Car Care They didn't provide 4th item for free

The company Tiresplus Conyersga offered to buy 3 and get 1 for free. I also decided that it was good offer and placed the order. Unfortunately, the company fooled me. They received the payment for 3 items and sent me only 3 pieces. But when I replied and told to send the 4th item, they started to ask for shipping costs and other fees. I was disappointed and wanted to share my experience with other people.

Tires Plus Total Car Care deceptive practice

found a screw in one of the new tires I had installed at your Englewood fla store, called them up for an appointment to have it repaired, was told that it would take 30 to 45 minutes to have it patched. showed up at the store on time, only to wait 90 minutes before I was told their "tire man" went to lunch and I would have to wait even longer. why even give people appointments if you cant keep them? better yet, why employ someone at a tire service that isn't a "tire man"? two of your employees were standing around playing games on their phone, while only one was working in the bay. unbelieveable

I will not go to Tires Plus again, (except today to try to get my money back.) While I used to respect Tires Plus's work and even recommended it a few times, their service has been less than adequate over the past year. I got 4 new tires in late Apr of this year. It took far longer than was initially promised as 1 of the tires had to be brought in. I wa...

Tires Plus Total Car Care poor repair

11-21-2012 went to tires plus they replaced a power steering pump on my 2002 honda odessey
[protected] while getting an oil change at another place was told there was power steering fluid leaking
[protected] returned to tires plus
Was told yes fluid leaking they would need to replace pump again
12-30-2013 now again issue with pump I go to honda dealership to solve the issue
Result I need a new power steering pump. 500 more dollars
I call tires plus and they state I am out of warranty! Which one I ask?
It is only 10 months since I replaced the second pump. They state no warranty on second pump only on first one!
I am very disappointed with this clear dishonest tactic. I had a funny feeling when I brought the van back that they never did change out the part. Something is clearly fishy here.
I don't appreciate having to replace a part that originally lasted 10 years three times in two years. I expect at least to be compensated for the third pump.

Tires Plus Total Car Care misleading about times and pricing

Saw an ad in the paper for this company so i called to ask about an oil change for my vehicle, was told the oil change was $17.99, which would have been a smoking deal. Asked when i could get it in, they said "Right now, bring it down", so I did. Got there, got signed in, asked about some sort of tires plus inspection which i declined, offered a credit card which I declined, was told my oil change would take about two hours and recommended the mall accross the street to pass the time. Wait a sec, I told them I just called and they said I could get it in right now, they told me well, we'll get it in right now but the service is going to take a couple of hours. what kind of oil change takes two hours? so much for right now. I saw a sign inside taht said 30 minutes oil changes, asked why I wasn;t getting that, and they told me that was for appointments. I was like, ok so why did your guy just tell me 10 minutes ago to bring it on down they'll get it right in. Finally said they would get it sone in an hour which was much more acceptable. Called me 45 mins later and tried to sell me almost every maintenance service they have (mind you my veh is up to date on services) which i also declined. Came back after the hour and it was done, but then went to pay and they tried to charge me $47.63! Whoa whoa whoa whoa, what happened to 17.99!?!? they told me that is an introductory price for most vehicle that take less than 5 quarts. They didn;t even ask me on the phone what kind of vehicle I have. You'd think that they would ask about your vehicle if not every oil hange was the same? I was going by what I was quoted. I think they say this stuff on the phone to try to get you in the door and charge you and sell you the most stuff they can now that you're there. I fussed about the price and they made it $23.99, which I paid just to get out of there. I complained to corporate about the price switching and they gave me a card for a free oil change but I dont know if I want to do it now. I felt like the company was trying to cheat me.

Believe it or not, the store people were doing EXACTLY what they are instructed to do by upper company management. And I mean BY THE BOOK. Management requires the store employees to quote their oil changes at a specific price (at the time you called their phone special was $17.99) on the phone. Quote that price only, nothing else. Then if you asked when it could be done they are supposed to tell you "Right now, bring it down" (verbatim). The price is obnoxiously low, but never includes more than 5 quarts, nor does it include any disposal fees, so even with the basic, $17.99 is never the actual price, there's always add-ons somewhere. Do note, the price does change periodically. The "Right now bring it down" thing is designed to get you to act impulsively to the ridiculously low price and come down to get it in immediately. They want you IN THE DOOR, because they want you to spend money RIGHT NOW. Once you get there, it's likely you'll stay even if you have to wait longer than quoted. Rarely can they get it in "right now" and even if they could when you called them, there's a good chance that someone could get there before you do, and now you have to wait. The sales pitch is also incorporated into the whole design. The whole process is designed to get you to react quickly to a low price, get your vehicle in quickly, get you locked in to spending money, and try to convert you to a repair or service customer by selling you other services or repairs once your vehicle is there and you are already waiting. At some point they probably tried to sell you a credit card, too. That, too, is an effort to get you to spend more money at each visit, and increase the chance of you being a return customer. Upper management is militant when it comes to this process. They actually use mystery phone and video shoppers to enforce it, and threaten employees with termination if they do not follow it. Use that free oil change. Whether you go back after that is up to you. Hope this helps.

Tires Plus Total Car Care honesty

Is there anyone honset at Tires Plus?
Through my involvement with Tires Plus I have to say beware to all who enter their driveway. I am convinced that the shop workers are basicly honest, it is the management that has to be watched. Listen to the conversations and you will be appalled. The guy working on the car reccomends one thing and the manager will add to that what he wants to sell, no matter the technician says. I have heard them argue. My mother was told she needed a lot of work on her car because of it's age even though it has few miles. She had no idea what they were talking about only that it had to be done. A phone call to the dealer revealed that what they told her was untrue, and the work they did was substancially more expensive than the dealer. And that was without factory approved parts. When I complained to the manager; a squeeky voiced, unshaven kid with apparently little knowledge of cars, I was offered a free oil change! As I sat in the waiting room to speak with the manager who was finishing a cigarette and talking on a cell phone, I listened to the conversations at the front desk and what came through the window from the shop. When one manager at the front became aware of this he started speaking in Spanish and when his boss came to the front he looked at me and then said something more in Spanish. Nothing to hide? Right.
I understand that the technicians are competant there. The management is obviously money hungry and has no ethics. The combination of the two only works for the Tires Plus company, not for the customer.

Management and sales are not required to know much about the mechanicals of cars, in fact, during the hiring process for sales and management a record of sales looks better than technical experience.Tires Plus managers are paid bonuses based on key sales items each month or quarter, and such items include but are not limited to numerous flushes, tire sales, credit card sales (this one is a BIG one), and promoted services. Management has to drive this in a big way, because if they fail to hit any of the key focus items or increases in sales for that given time period then they will not get ANY bonus. The techs are mostly paid by a small hourly rate and a commission on top of that, so they too want to sell all they can to make a check. Some would say that commission based services in such an industry could possibly promote abuse, and we would agree. Honesty varies from person to person. I do not understand how a dealer can tell you whether or not a vehicle that is in another shops possession does or does not need particular service or repairs, though, unless the services are scheduled maintenance. It is very rude for employees or management to talk in a language that is not understood by the customer, and the customer has a right to voice their opinion on such. This is very poor customer service and any manager or salesperson would know this. Do know, however, that Tires Plus does hire people whose first language is NOT English, as do many companies.

Tires Plus Total Car Care damaged my transmission

On February 11, 2012 I brought my vehicle in by appointment to have my heater core/ coolant system checked, and if it would or would not be replaced. The only problem I was experiencing with the car with no other mechanical or driving problems. I have owned the car for 10+ years, and I've maintained the vehicle since ownership. I have had lots of work done to it over the years, even having the air conditioner retro fitted. The car has been working beautifully until today. This is what occurred . I waited for nearly 2 hours to learn the verdict?...When the Service Manager came to me, he told me it was the heating core...But!...I had some other issues. He told me his mechanic took the vehicle out and opened it up, "whatever this meant?", and that my transmission was slipping in high gear...My cars transmission has never!, ever! slipped in any gear. Till today, and when it was returned to me. I really didn't take in initially what the service manager was saying, I just thought the tech wasn't familiar with the car, and how the transmission changed thru the gears, When it transitioned thru the gears, and when it reached 40mph you could feel it a little more when it went into high, nothing big, this was normal, its always done this. Once I began driving the car home everything felt normal, until I got to this speed, and there it was, it wouldn't transition into the high gear. At this point we called back to Tires Plus to talk with the store manager...It was here that it all started. I don't know what happened to the car, nor do I know what the tech driving it did?. I just got a few blocks after realizing this occurring, and asked for the store manager, he answered, and I told him what was happening, and this is the way I was given the car back. Everything he said was in their defense, and that the tech couldn't have done this, and this. I knew I didn't bring the car in like this, or this would have been the major issue of why I was there in the first place, my heater core would have been on the back burner. Who would bother bringing a car in for a heating problem if the cars transmission was doing this?. It even sounds crazy!. First the car has to be drivable to want to have a heating problem looked at. He said I might have, it is cold outside!. I could see that talking on the phone was going no where, and I told him he was making me hot about all this, and I was coming back to the store. He response was, "Yeah!, bring your little ### back up here!". This is the guy whose gotten my business over several years, and this is the way he talks to me. If nothing more this tells me and should anyone who is considering doing business with that store/shop what a no good ### he is. When I got there he told me not to blame him for my car falling apart that his tech couldn't have done anything to cause the problem, and when I asked if this was gonna turn into a legal issue, he response again, "go get your "little attorney!". With customers listening I hope they got an ear full of what they could be facing if they get their car back with problems that weren't there prior to taking it in...I have called the corporate headquarters, and I do plan to contact The Better Business Bureau, and The Chamber Of Commerce first thing Monday. The cost associated with this kind of repair could be $1800 or more, probably more the way garages charge.

Tires Plus Total Car Care warranty fraud

I bought four tires from them on 3/18/11 with road hazard warranty. the car has only about 12, 000 mi on it since and the tires were rated for 65, 000 . Also the tire was on the back of the vehicle which usually wear less .I got a flat on 2/8/12 and went there to get it replaced and they said it was worn beyond the warranty and made me pay for a new tire. what a bunch of B.S... This is just plain fraud and I will also be contacting the attorney generals office to see if I have any recourse with them

When a customer has an issue like this I would recommend taking it up with the company first, it will probably save you some time. Typically tire warranties are very well spelled out and are engineered to take care of THE CUSTOMER, so the warranty will usually work in your favor. An issue like this is usually very easy to address.

Tires Plus Total Car Care don't ever take your car here!!

About 2 or three years ago my car alternator went out, and the nearest place to me was tires plus. I took my car there and they told me what the problem was, and I told them to fix it. A friend picked me up, and throughout the day, I kept getting calls to see if they could replace my winshield wipers for x amount of dollars, and that I needed a new battery because my other one was drained from not being recharged due to the alernator problem. I told them just fix whatever problems came with the alternator.

I come back and my bill is 750 dollars, I don't see my old battery, which was only six months old, and they don't give it back to me. Now it is three years later, and I have the same alternator problem. I don't think that is long enough for that 750 dollar service and part to last. Don't EVER take your car here!

Tires Plus-Tampa, FL: Do yourself and your bank account a favor. Do not go to Tires Plus! I recently brought my vehicle to Tires Plus on E. Fowler Ave. in Tampa, FL. I needed a new alternator. I just recently purchased a brand new battery less than a week before (this did not need replacement); however, Tires Plus manager (Jason) said they wouldn't give me a warranty on the alternator unless I purchased a new battery as well. After being quoted around $300 from various other mechanics for a new alternator, I ended up paying over $800 for a new alternator/battery. They rip you off and try to justify it by saying their parts are only the best. Please don't do it.

Some alternators have lifetime warranties. The company that Tires Plus got the alternator from (remember, they don't stock this type of part) may warranty it out if you have the receipt, although Tires Plus is free from doing anything to help you because the warranty which is written on paper is clearly expired by now, even if the part should have lasted longer. Tires Plus did not make the part. (Note, an average reman alternator has a life span of about 3 years).

Yes if someone looks at you crossed eyed it must because of your race. Way reduce everything to the color of your skin. Perhaps they looked at you funny because you are an ###, I can deduce this from the post your wrote. Good luck in life you will need it when trying to make excuses for your shortcomings.

Tires Plus Total Car Care poor oil change

I visited tires plus (Minot ND) to get an oil change. After being there for over an hour in the 30 min oil change bay I asked what the problem was. They said the "tech" was looking for the oil filter. I had to tell them that they needed to remove the skid plate to get to it. The bad thing is that the next morning at home I discovered that out of the 8 screws that hold the skid plate up only the front two were still installed. It was pretty hard to miss seeing how the skid plate was hanging pretty low to the ground. I did let tires plus know of the mishap and they provided me with some screws so I could correct the problem. Can't wait until winter is over so I can start doing my own oil changes again. *** -10 degree weather.

In fact, as of this writting Tires Plus only allows 30 minutes for an oil change now. It used to be 45 to 60 minutes for the entire service.

This is becoming a common thing with Tires Plus, because the management of the company only allows so much time for oil changes, and it gets less every year. On top of the less time alotted, they also require the techs to do more services as part of the oil change, like a courtesy check and rotation. The tech is under pressure to move faster than realistically possible in order to finish the job and move the next car in so that the company can make to most money possible, so sloppy work is overlooked and even encouraged indirectly.

My girlfriend went in for an oil change and they told her eher car needed 1, 400 worth of work for a head gasket replacement, and they proceeded to tell her that once they had a head gasket go out in the middle of the night in a remote area and they were left stranded. I am a mechanic and there is nothing wrong with her vehicle. I was unable to do the oil change because i was out of town. These people should be ashamed of themselves. In addition to that they told her that the wheel bearings were loose and her tire was about to fall off. Umm wheel bearings dont get loose the wear from friction yes and they can wear out but they don't get loose, again i am a mechanic. I am so pissed at this place, bunch of croooooooooks, . never go there never never never never.

You're not much of a mechanic if you think wheel bearings can't develop play (many of them are adjustable). In some states the inspection only allows a certain amount of wheel bearing play, any more than the allowable amount and the vehicle fails. Just setting the record straight. On the other hand, yes, you have to watch out for any automotive company who uses commissions (or flat-rate in some cases) as a primary way of paying their people. When that is done, like the way Tires Plus does, then the mechanic has to find any kind of work he can sell to make a pay check. In extreme cases it makes it easy for cheats and liars to abuse customer trust. As such, it's interesting how they went from oil change to a $1, 400 estimate. I would have said no, too, but you should probably be more ticked about how they even got permission to check the vehicle out that deep. PS: I'd never trust a company like Tires Plus to disassemble an engine.
