I just about fell off my chair laughing when I read the following on www.timesharesonly.com..."Timeshares Only is the world’s largest timeshare resale marketplace. Through co-operative advertising, Timeshares Only makes it possible for timeshare buyers, sellers and renters to connect around the World."

My experience with Timeshares Only:
I signed up with Timeshares Only in October of 2007 to sell my Hyatt timeshare at Pinon Pointe in Sedona, AZ for $598. I was assured by Lillian this was a great time to sell and we shouldn’t have any trouble selling our property if we listed it between $13, 000-$15, 000. So the property was listed at $13, 000 originally. Since that time I have initiated requests to lower the listing price several times and it now stands listed at $7, 995. Yet there are still no offers!

On December 3, 2008 I sent a letter to Timeshares Only requested a refund, hopefully a full refund. I have yet to receive a written response so I sent a follow up letter on January 15, 2009. I did receive a call from Sharon stating there was nothing Timeshares Only would do for us. Here is the content of the first letter (I neglected to go back and make sure I was remembering names/numbers correctly so you will notice the original list price is wrong as is the name of the person I spoke with when purchasing)...

RE: Sale ad #1205065

To whom it may concern:

Despite my wife’s disagreement, I signed up with Timeshares Only for $595 in October of 2007 to sell my Hyatt timeshare at Pinon Pointe in Sedona, AZ. I was assured by Dani Guettler this was a great time to sell and we shouldn’t have any trouble selling our property if we listed at $12, 500. So the property was listed at that price originally. Since that time I have made requests to lower the listing price several times and it now stands listed at $7, 995. Yet there are still no offers!

Please do the right thing by the customer and process a full refund immediately.

Sincerely,

D Baham

Note: Dani Guettler was the first person to email me from Timeshares Only when the property was first "listed"

You can search for our timeshare or see it on their site here http://www.timesharesonly.com/timeshare/1205065. At least I know they have done something since I can see this listing, as far as advertising this listing I doubt much if anything has been done.

Other people's experience with Timeshares Only:
Timeshares Only claims they have multiple advertising channels for Hyatt Timeshares, Marriott Timeshares, Disney Timeshares, Hilton Timeshares, Wyndham Timeshares, and the a number of other timeshares for sale. I made the mistake of falling for their deceptive phone sale techniques and was duped into purchasing a service that does absolutely nothing to sell your timeshare. It doesn't appear I was the only one...

February 2nd, 2009 Update

Timeshares Only refuses to respond in writing to my request for a refund, yet they acknowledge they have received my letters. I wonder why they wont put their refusal in writing? Feel free to call Sharon at Timeshares Only at [protected] x7501 and ask her why they refuse to respond to my request for a refund in writing.

One other interesting tidbit about this farce of a company, it appears as early as last year Timeshares Only was a member the Orlando Regional Chamber of Commerce, but not anymore! Wonder if they got kicked out for bad business practices? Oh, and I don't see that they are members of the Better Business Bureau either, that is not surprising.

Before you ever even consider purchasing a timeshare think of how difficult it may be to get rid of it. You start out paying 500.00 a year maintenance fees then 15 years later the fees are close to 2000.00. Nobody will buy it from you not even for a penny. Stop paying the maintenance fees and the resort will come after you in court and the judge will rule in their favor. You quite literally may have to pay a lawyer thousands of dollars to get you out of ownership of your timeshare. In conclusion- don't ever buy a timeshare!

Florida is vacation scam central.

If you buy a timeshare, you own it lock, stock and barrel...for eternity. My only suggestion is that you use it for a few decades and when you get tired of it, you get someone to cancel the contract for you, and quit claim the deed. Your "benefit" is the usage you had.

Good luck renting it, as there are few renters unless you use the developer and they will likely charge you 30-40% rental fee. Make certain you tell them you will occupy if its not rented or they may scam you and rent it and collect 100% of the fee and tell you it wasnt rented.

We enjoy our weeks, but its pure quicksand. It is what it is. I have NEVER met anyone who was successful selling a timeshare. Ever.

I got taken by this company and many other resale companies.

After being taken a few times I started researching the internet and found a company that helps people who have been scammed get their money back. Do a Goggle search on Timeshare Fee Recovery

Good luck...PS so far I get back about $1500 from a couple companies.

Many Florida timeshare sale and rental companies under fire

Florida has launched a war against the timeshare resale industry, announcing Thursday ongoing investigations into 17 companies, as well as a lawsuit against one company.

In 2009, complaints about timeshare resale companies overtook mortgage-related complaints reported to the Florida attorney general.

The attorney general also filed suit against South Daytona-based ResalesBuyOwner.com, its third suit in recent months against timeshare resale companies. Allegations against ResalesBuyOwner.com are that the company forced customers to pay up-front fees for services that were never provided. The company charged customers' credit cards even after they decided not to do business with ResalesBuyOwner.com, the suit says.

The office has also filed suits against American Marketing Group and Hicks Inc., both based in West Palm Beach.

Some 17 companies, many based in South Florida, have been subpoenaed because of complaints about deceptive business practices. Customers have said some of the companies failed to honor cancellation policies, misrepresented the services they would provide and failed to comply with some parts of state and federal telemarketing acts. They include:

• Executive Timeshare Marketing in Tamarac.

• Coastal Timeshare Solutions in Boca Raton

• Worldwide Resorts Direct and Worldwide Marketing Solutions of Palm Beach, doing business as Worldwide Timeshare, in West Palm Beach

• TS Luxury Group in Lake Worth

• C&G Marketing Associates, doing business as Premier Timeshare Solutions in Palm Beach Gardens

• Nationwide Marketing Solutions, doing business as Magnum Advertising Services in Lake Worth

• International Resort Solutions in Lake Worth

• E.A.T. Sales in Boca Raton

• Euroamerican Timeshare in Boynton Beach

• Transatlantic Timeshare in Boynton Beach

• Seabreeze Advertising Corp., also known as SBA Corp. in Daytona Beach

• Timeshare Market Pro in Davie

• International Marketing and Finance in Wellington

• Gold Crown Property Management in Dunedin

• Vacation Property Resales doing business as BUYATIMESHARE.COM in Tampa

• Timeshare Only in Orlando

• PFS Concepts, Inc., doing business as US Vacation in Largo

Already, the state has settled with seven timeshare resale companies, including about $100, 000 for customers of World Timeshares of Deerfield Beach; about $90, 000 from Timeshare Travels of Boca Raton; $36, 000 from Preferred Vacation Resorts of Clearwater; $26, 000 from D&D Vacations, doing business as United States Property Services, of Largo; about $37, 000 from S.F.C. Group, doing business as TWA Resale, of Orlando.

On Thursday, the state noted one of its largest settlements with a timeshare resale company. Virtual Group of Orange County, which goes by the name Realty Trade, has paid $800, 000 in refunds to customers and will pay $500, 000 to customers who request refunds in the future.

If you are planning on selling or renting your timeshare or would like help getting your money back from any of the above companies please contact [protected]. Please leave a detailed message including your name, phone number and best time you can be reached. Or please email your information to fight_back2009@live.com.

I have tried many so called timeshare sellers. Each time I offered $1000.00 to them if they sold it. The catch was that the $1000 would be put in escrow and paid only after closing.

NOT ONE took me up on that offer.

That should tell you something about these places. If you have a timeshare you will most likely not be able to find a buyer. Even the resorts where the timeshares are located don't want them back. I tried that...but they don't want it...as they need the fees you pay.

The one I had in Florida I just stopped paying on. If they wish to take the time & money to foreclose...good for them. I know they won't...as they will only then get stuck with it in the end.

Just don't buy them.

Yes, My wife and I listed with timeshares only and paid the 598. Since 2005 originally listed for 13, 000 ans drop it to 1500 and never a offer to buy or even rent. Big scam. I called for a refund and they said no we are paid to advertise not to sell your timeshare. What a bunch of crap. How have they stayed in business this long. Numerous complaints to the government and nothing.

I also posted my timeshare with Timeshare Only back in 2005! I call every month to see if there is a single offer. NONE! I bought my timeshare for $13000. I have it listed on Timeshares Only for $5000. I havent had a single offer in almost 5 years.
I just called to see if I could get a refund. They said NO. I asked to see if I could talk to an agent that sells timeshares. She said NO! There are not agents in the office! I am wondering if they even have agents. I could have listed it online for much cheaper than $498!
This is RIDICULOUS!
BIG SCAM!

calls from Timeshare Resales, Timeshares Only post cards, Timeshare Relief hotel seminars, etc.

nobody can resell your timeshare as there are no buyers

with all the bad press out there, it is impossible to resell timeshares. All you can do is try to rent your week yourself amongst your friends & family.

We've tried to GIVE our timeshare away to PBS auction and they wouldn't even list it!
