We are member of star wood vacation and the owner of Westinn timeshare in Hawaii. On 2010 we deposited our one week of timeshare ownership with interval international and they told us we can use it any time any year, but 2 years later they told us there is not point or any deposit week, then I called Starwood. Timeshare Exchange booking problems

I finally figured out why nothing I want is ever available for exchange. While in Nuevo Vallarta at the Paradise Village Resort last week, I ran into other Interval customers with the same problems. All of our rooms were bottom of the bucket facing the parking lot. I noticed they had a low occupancy and asked if I could get an ocean front room. I was not asking for my penthouse level that I traded!, just for a better view. Sure! They would would give me ocean front for 59.95 extra a day. What I did notice is that all the good rooms went to people who did not already have a timeshare. You could have gone on groupon and ended up in a corner unit facing the ocean. Its all about SELLING TIMESHARES. If you already own one, YOU mean nothing to them. They already have your money. This is why INTERVAL never has anything I want available. Everyone we ran into had the same problem. I have never had a nice exchange unless it was in our parent company. When I think of all the membership fees and exchange fees I have paid to Interval it really makes me mad! I really just thought it was my bad luck.

Plenty of families buy timeshares with the expectation that swapping properties with others will allow them to vacation all over the world. This is not often the case, and may be more trouble than it’s worth. Even if you do have a timeshare worth swapping into, it requires a lot of research into each possible swap location before finalizing your plans. You don’t want to end up swapping to a location that has poor maintenance records, few amenities, and a bad surrounding area. Unless you join a very active network that has dozens of interested swappers every day, you might find this swapping process difficult and a hassle. This is a good article on how to do a timeshare trade properly:

The same thing has always happened to us when we exchange. Interval International, along with the entire timeshare industry, is nothing more than a bunch of marginally legal companies engaged in the business of scamming and cheating as much money as possible from honest hardworking people.
