My wife got me one of the swap cards that Tim Horton's are advertising. The card you never need to carry money if you have the card. The wife put $40.00 on the card, and on the way to work I stopped off at the Central Ave shop to get a coffee. I was waiting for about 4 minutes, when the server asked for the money, I told her I had $40.00 on the card, she said it would not work. In the end a friend from my work paid for it. I was really embarrassed. I have sent 2 Emails to Tim"s over the last two weeks asking them why I could not use the card. They have not even replied to me.

i find these comment interesting not only do you have the choice to swipe the card yourself but when loading a card tim horton always ask if you would like a recipt to prove a copy of your purchase. we are unable to take any money that is on a tims card off once it has been loaded on, so the only thing we could use it for is in store purchce and if you work in a dounut shop would you really like to purchase a dounut when you have them availble for free. when tim card are loaded they must have interent to load up just as useing debit card if there is a poor qualtiy of any sort it will have an affect on it being loaded proplerly so in regards to that it takes a long time track down the transactions that was made as well waiting on other people to check out the code on the back of your card to get your purchase history. so please keep in mind these few things not only do we have to sever you a high qualty sevrice for making a two dollar purchase but we deal with hundreds of coustmers who treat us just like you have, this is a fast paced job with little pay these poeple are amazing for what the do on a daily bases every store has they same rules... but dont worry will still have your coffee ready for you in the morning no matter how cranky you are.

The very same thing happened to me & though i'd hate to believe that Tim's employees are swapping the cards it's exactly what happened. I got a $50 card in excange for some work i did & was really looking forward to using it for at least a few week, but after a few trips to Tim's I received my card back and was told there was only 14 cents on it. When I looked closer at the card I realized it was not my card at all. This is the sad reality at all places of employment & people steal what is available...at Tim's it's cards, winning cups & supplies. Shame that a formal complaint does not even warrant a response.

I have one of those cards too and never use it because I find that seldomly the staff know how to use it.
