I am regularly traveling abroad. I am a seaman and holding a valid seaman book with me. Whenever I was traveling thru Thiruvananthapuram airport, I was facing big trouble with the emigration officers. Even I was holding the seaman book and copy of valid visa, they never accept it. They need a return ticket which is impossible for a seaman to get a return ticket. They even canceled my boarding pass one day. The same time my co-worker who is an Keralite don't face any problem with this officers. He never show his seaman book or visa copy to them. As we are from the same employer it is becoming more difficult to explain the situation to the employer. I don't know what to do with this kind of harassment to tamilians by kerala officers. This is not only happening to me. For all of my tamil friends who are traveling thru this thiruvananthapuaram airport. We all decided to post all over the internet to find a right solution. We hope this problem will be solved.
We request all tamil people to spred this news to all tamilians to make them aware of the situation in thiruvananthapuram airport.

Otherwise he said to leave the TV in the Airport.

It will be better if you file a complaint against those who involved in this action. It is unfortunate that you are distinguishing between keralites and tamilians, the fact being the officers are not malayalies. The tamilians are screened because they have oipted Trivandrum airport as a means to smuggle thins when the security in chennai airport was made so strict. So similar security measures has been taken in trivandrum also.

Hi,

The polive have been arresting people of tamil origin from different parts of Kerala alleging that they are trying to smuggle goods and equipment for LTTE. A recent incident reported by the media was about two guys arrested for trying to smuggle a fishing boat to Sri Lanka. May be these are the reasons why tamilians are being singled out at the airport.

Otherwise, there is no reason to do this as the culture in both tamil nadu and kerala are more or less the same. You will realize this only if you travel some place up north. There everyone from south, regardless of whether he is from kerala or tamil nadu, is a madirasi!

Dear Paramasivam and Venkatesh,

Iam a resident of Trivandrum who fly in and out of this airport regularly.

It is sorry to hear about such instances from emigration officers. Please be aware that there are many cases where Trivandrum airport is used to smuggle goods and fake currencies. There may also be instructions from top to screen out passengers who maybe suspicious looking or those people going for jobs to Gulf like maids etc. for whom chances of getting ill-treated in foreign country are high.

In this case you are seamen with valid visa harassed by some officers who were drunk. This is serious offence by law and should not be taken lightly. All people of India are free to use any airport in India and Trivandrum is no exception. These officers mostly maynot belong to Trivandrum but other regions.

Kindly take the courage to complain by letter or email to Trivandrum airport authorities and civil aviation ministry at Delhi, along with names of the officers ( if you remember). I strongly urge to teach a lesson to those arrogant officers who erred on their jobs and no stone should be left unturned to protect these unscrupulous erring officers damaging the prestige of Trivandrum airport.

I agree that the some emigration authorities in Trivandrum airpport are rude. I am Malyali and from Trivandrum, and I had an issue with ECNR. They didn't even know if ECNR is stamped or not, and then one officer became adamant that I am not allowed to travel and cancelled my boarding pass. I had a return ticket had flew outside the country several times, but never had an experience like this. So friends, it is not limited to Tamilians.

I agree with this complaint. I traveled by Mumbai, Chennai and Trivandrum several times. Whenever I travel by Thiruvananthapuram airport I am facing lot of trouble by this airport emigration officers. They are very rude. When you reach them you can smell the alcohol which they took at previous day night. To them tamilians are PAANDI. They just gave trouble every time before they allow me to the security. I am also a seaman traveling frequently. As this is the nearest airport for me there is no other option. One time me together with 2 malayalis with the same documents went to the emigration. Both of them passed the emigration without any interference. But me waiting at that point for about 45 minutes. They like tamilians begging them. This is a very rude behavior. If you are a tamilian going by thiruvanathapuram airport, hold a digital camera with you. Once you get the boarding pass, take a picture of it. This will help you if you are going for any complaints.
Also in this thiruvananthapuram airport, there should be an officer from central intelligence department who should be the final authority on rejecting a passenger from travel. Oh, my go this situation never happened to me like Mr.Paramasivam. May be he loose his voyage because of this canceled travel. How many tamilians are faced the same situation like Mr.Paramamsivam by this Police guys who control the emigration department in thiruvananthapuram airport.
Actually Tamilnadu should have an international airport at south. I don't know why the Govt. of Tamilnadu is not thinking about this.
Post your or your friends sad story at thiruvananthapuram airpot here at the comment so that every traveler should be more aware of this place.
