A couple of days ago, I received an email from Emmanuel Loiseau informing me that I had been 'cleared a winner' in the UK National Lottery online Sweepstakes International program. Feeling a bit dubious, I wrote to Mr Loiseau asking for confirmation of the win. He then re-sent his email with the National Lottery logo at the top of his message.

In an earlier email that I found in my spam box, there was another email from Mr Loiseau instructing me to contact Western Pacific Courier in order to claim my winnings.

Because I found this particular email late, I received a further message from Loiseau advising me that since I hadn't contacted the courier, I was in jeopardy of losing my claim. He gave me 24 hours to contact the courier.

Upon doing so, I was told that I had to pay their fee of GBP160 by Western Union and that they would not accept a cheque, a bankers draft or credit card payment.

I was running out of time so I phoned Western Pacific Courier to find out if I could get an extension. I even offered to go to their office in Croydon to pay in person. This offer was rejected by the person I spoke to, Ron Parker.

Mr Parker advised me that I was to make the Western Union payment out to Boris Branson then fax or email the scanned/photocopied payment order to him.

When I went to a shop that makes Western Union payments, the shop keeper had serious doubts about my payment based on the fact that it was going to someone with whom I was not connected, and he had the presence of mind to phone the Western Union representative. After a couple of minutes, he handed me the phone, and I told the agent why I was sending the payment. He (Julian) Googled Western Pacific Courier and found that they are indeed perpetrating a hoax.

I was saved a lot of heartache, as well as GBP160 by two caring and sharp-witted guys.

The original email purportedly from the National Lottery seemed genuine to me. I wonder how many other people have been duped by these people, and what would alert anyone to the fact that this is indeed a hoax. GBP160 seems a small price to pay when you've been told that you've just won GBP850, 000.00!

Lastly, after my phone conversation with Julian at Western Union, I too Googled Western Pacific Courier. It seems that their hoax/scam has been going on for at least a year. Can anyone tell me why these people have not been stopped? Why they haven't been brought to justice? They're even using the same names they were using this time last year. Can't they be stopped?

I was lucky int this case. I imagine there are many who haven't been...

Greetings my friends everywhere, I am Brother Danny, a man who walks in the light of Christ. Today is 9/30/16. I just wanted to inform you that this winning letter IS a SCAM. I received the EXACT letter with the EXACT numbers as the ones posted on this complaint site. You have to ask yourself; how is it possible for so many people to have the SAME winning numbers? The individual who claims he got his money and that this was not a scam, probably works for this organization and as such, was directed to go on this site and lie about its validation. I tried to contact Yahoo! to verify this lottery because their name is being used to gain profit from those who are unaware, but I could not get through either by phone or chat help. This is alarming because Yahoo! may be involved with the scam. I feel I can no longer trust Yahoo! for anything. Friends, always remember that when a person wins something and then, is asked to pay for the delivery, a red flag should go up immediately. I also recommend that you google the company first to see if its validated by providing contact info, as well as, what is stated in the fine print. They already claimed you won but then, after further review, it states that it is an ongoing promotion and that, on a set deadline, a winner will be selected. In addition, why are the returning letters with and without a donation are separated away from one another. I, too, was excited about getting this notification of winning ($550, 000.00USD) but I put my computer to work and tried to validate all that is stated on the letter, including the fine print, is true. After I quickly find that they are a scam, I report it and forget about it as I tear it up into as many pieces I can and trash it. Be smart and check out the sender and be assured it is not a scam. That's what I do. Amen? I pray I was helpful to you in providing information that you can use to avoid being taken advantage of. Outside of that, I will pray for those who were taken advantage of and suggest posting this information on the BBB website. That's basically the only option we have because law requires details and evidence before they investigate so, don't get your hopes up. May God bless you and may He lay his wrath on those who are abusing the meek. Blessings my friends. Selah.

I have had exactly the same as everyone else and have tried on numerous occasions to send the email provided which comes back saying that it couldn't be delivered and the phone number has no ring tone, so I am also presuming that this is a scam. This is as recently as today 16th June 2016. If this is a SCAM, then these people need to be stopped immediately. Below is exactly what my email said

Well, I was notified last week of my bid winnings and is currently corresponding to the mentioned couriers. I emailed them that I don't need the Insurance and that I don't have many lying around to pay the amount of 399, 00 pounds to have my cheque delivered to me. Why do people do this to innocent people and get away with it?

I was sent an email stating that I won a large sum of money on the UK lottery. To claim I would need to send my name and details, curiously no bank account was required and pay GBP160 to this courier company through Western Union.

It is too good to be true because when I called them it all sounded dodgy. So I left it there. Does anyone else in the UK have a similar exerience?
