Seems like sour grapes by someone. I have known him, been around him closely over long periods of time and if he's doing drugs he's the smartest drug user I have ever seen. Never seen him use or show interest in drugs. He likes a drink for sure, but no more so than the entire UK population. I've seen him help people and give them money without strings attached. He also has demonstrated a great deal of empathy to many people. Sounds like the person who wrote this bought a few dictionaries and looked up as many descriptors of personality as they could find. If you are so positive these things are true why hide your identity?.. I'll tell you why because you have no life. Obviously you lost some money along the way. People only write ### about others if they have lost money. If he stole it, have him arrested. My guess is you invested and the investment went sour. That's your tough luck. If you want play the investment game be prepared to lose the money or don't invest. Move on pal! M Scullion

I wish I had read this warning a long time ago. During the time I knew Simon, he displayed most of the characteristics on the list of the first post of this thread. These things came out over time; he is very charming and I started off really liking him. I was very fortunate that I was not financially invested because I know many people that were taken advantage of. I also experienced first-hand some of the truly horrible things that he has done including violent outbursts. The saddest part about the whole thing is that he has been at this for years - he ran a scam even prior to the Hear Now Inc. I agree with M Scullion in that I don't believe that he was doing drugs, at least when I knew him, but he was definitely a substance abuser in terms of alcohol. The reason many of the complaints around the internet are anonymous is simple: fear. Anyone who knows Simon, knows he is irrational and therefore capable of retaliation. Although one feels a responsibility to warn others, it should not be at the expense of personal safety.

Pet products maker in regulatory doghouse

    Investors were misled, says ASC

It could have been a wags-to-riches story.

Instead, once-ambitious high-tech dog collar manufacturer The Hear Now Inc. -- which still holds the bidding record for a Stampede chuckwagon tarp -- is nearly defunct and has run afoul of the province's securities regulator.

The Alberta Securities Commission has found that the Calgarybased company and three of its directors illegally distributed The Hear Now securities.

In a decision released this week, the commission said it is still weighing sanctions against company founder Simon Wilby and Michael Sirman, former chief executive of the firm, which developed and distributed high-tech pet products, including a radio pet collar allowing two-way communication and GPS tracking.

The panel also found Sirman misled investors concerning the rates of return -- suggesting they could receive as much as 119 per cent from their investment.

Further proof Simon Wilby is a sham con artist. Unfortunately any of you swindled investors who have fallen victim to Wilby's latest Smartpower sham will soon realize you are in the same boat as the Hear Now investors. The word on the street is Wilby and his accomplices are also under investigation by the ASC for raising funds illegally for the Smartpower company.

    From the Alberta Securities Website:

ASC Finds Two Former Directors of The Hear Now Incorporated Illegally Distributed Securities

    Mar 25 2010

The Alberta Securities Commission (ASC) has found that two former directors of Calgary-based The Hear Now Incorporated, Simon Wilby and Michael Sirman, participated in an illegal distribution of The Hear Now securities to Alberta investors. An ASC panel also found that Sirman made misleading or untrue statements to investors concerning the rates of return that they could expect from their investment in The Hear Now.

An ASC panel found that between 2006 and 2008, The Hear Now illegally distributed over $7 million worth of The Hear Now securities to the public using a network of investment clubs. The panel determined this stock distribution network did not meet the requirements outlined for use of the private issuer exemption and was in fact “a thinly disguised sham arrangement” that was “wholly inconsistent with the purpose and spirit of the private company exemption.”

The ASC panel set April deadlines for ASC staff, Wilby and Sirman to provide written submissions in relation to what, if any, sanctions should be imposed in this case.

A copy of the decision is posted on the ASC website at

The ASC is the regulatory agency responsible for administering the province's securities laws. It is entrusted with fostering a fair and efficient capital market in Alberta and with protecting investors. As a member of the Canadian Securities Administrators, the ASC works to improve, coordinate and harmonize the regulation of Canada's capital markets.

Myself & some people I know invested in the Smartpower because we were told of some good returns only to find out we have nothing. We were sent an email that told us we could have our money back if we wanted out of the investment, we all said yes, but one year later there is still no sign of money & no contact with the rat. The lawyer representing Smartpower can be reached at but he doesn't return calls or emails.

I notice you all mention the Simon Wilby name yet you forget to mention the other people who were involved. What makes you think it was just Simon? He was just the idea man for the invention and the conept (which by the way have been great ideas). Did you ever stop to think that perhaps Simon was brought into this scam by people wanting to "sell" his inventions? And using him to be a front for a scam? We need to look at the bigger picture here not to mention the real scam artists (the ones expropriating the funds from innocent people using Simon Wilby as their scapegoat." I'm just saying" :)

Simon Wilby is no victim. These people who work with him are also desperate for money, and follow what Simon says! They follow him around waiting for their shares of Smart Mouth Mobile to be sold so they can be paid. Simon will make up any lie to get a person to believe his story. He has no sense of right and wrong, and because he is so longing for acceptance, he totally believes his own lies. And being a total alcoholic helps in his story telling, in fact enhances the story telling process of his!

He is no inventor. He will simply look for a product from China, and have it imported, usually drop shipped. To people who have little business experience but wish to invest, his stories of international adventures, with a security team in tow, and millions of dollars of cash to assist in helping animals, is all the product of his DELUDED mind. He currently has NO money and looking for investors for Smart Mouth Mobile, so he can try and raise the downloads for the sale of the business. He copies everyone's ideas, creates a home made logo, sets up a facebook page and thinks he has a business worth investors money. It's pure science fiction. Typical to a Narcissistic personality disorder, he abuses alcohol to the point of passing out, and is also extremely abusive and aggressive.

I actually feel empathic towards people such as Simon Wilby, because they are so insecure and hate themselves so much, they need to live a complete fake life, scared that if they told the truth about who they are, nobody would like them. If you are reading this thinking Simon is a great guy then:
    a. you are Simon Wilby
    b. you have recently heard one of his stories and feel compelled to say how great he is. In this case, if he promised you something - and he normally does - call him on it. Don't let him tell you an excuse for why it can't happen now. It will not happen because he is a broke liar and has no money or ethics - only time and lies
    c. you are on the promised payroll
    d. You are his mother

Why am I supporting is blog? Because SO MANY PEOPLE have been hurt by this man who has no caring for what he is doing to other people. He needs to sit in his little Pridis Calgary shack, with no furniture, and just his dogs and vodka, and NEVER come out of his (unpaid) rented house again.
